Ontario Show Dates

A story-telling hard rock band that tells tales of war heroes, bank robbers and clandestine lovers, this intrepid four-piece peddles true stories and truer fiction. Drawing inspiration from bands like The Headstones (whom they recently opened for), Social Distortion, Motörhead, The Offspring and Iron Maiden, The Castor Troys

Crafting fiery and infectious songs that draw you in and don’t let you go, Hamilton’s THE CASTOR TROYS are sharing a very special lyric video for their cover track of Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down The Dream”, which appears on the band’s latest EP “Legends Never Die” released at the beginning of this November.

Chris Ledroit (Guitars, Backing Vocals) explains:

“When we were planning the songs for the EP, we knew we wanted to include a cover. We wanted something that hadn’t already been covered several times, but also something that was a really familiar song. We also wanted something that wasn’t right in our genre, so we could change it and make it our own. We started working on this before Tom died: in fact it was just during the mastering stage that we heard the news. It was one of those moments where you remember exactly where you were when the news came on the radio: I was on my way home from the Midwest US at a gas station somewhere west of Chicago. It was an incredible coincidence that this song had taken such an important role in our lives by then so the news came as quite a shock. And the song sure means a lot more to us now.”

Watch the premiere of “Runnin’ Down The Dream” on ThePunkSite.com at the following link: http://thepunksite.com/news/exclusive-the-castor-troys-reveal-runnin-down-a-dream-video/

THE CASTOR TROYS‘ new EP “Legends Never Die” was produced by Andre Kaden Black plus engineered by Tal Vaisman (Ascot Royals) and has a refined the band’s sound, enabling them to capture the fierce energy of their live performance onto record, a great follow up to their 2015 debut full length “Come Hell or High Water” since forming in 2013.

“Six songs that draw influences of hard rock, punk, country and southern rock will make you sing along and pump your fist.  This is veteran songwriting with youthful energy.” – The Castor Troys

“Need a good song to pump you up for a long day? This classic punk-rock track (We Are One) might even fuel you up better than your morning caffeine boost. You’ll be screaming along with these powerful vocals and air-guitaring these riffs all week long.” – Alt Press

“The Legends Never Die EP departs from their debut album and takes their sound to the next level with a tighter chemistry and production. It boasts two full-throttle singles: “Blackout Love” and the follow-up, “We Are One”. The latter single, albeit a real stomper, sounds pretty similar to a track on their first album. It could just be me so, I’ll leave it to you to investigate and decide. Other standout tracks on the EP include “Burn This City Down” and “Wreck of the Bastard”. After a listen, you’re bound to walk away with at least a few songs stuck in your head! ” – LdnReverb

“Writing music that is catchy and instantly memorable, The Castor Troys weave tales in an accessible and uncompromising manner.” – Ignite Music Mag

“Hard rock revival? I fuckin’ hope so! Add another band to the burgeoning list – Ontario’s The Castor Troys. This hard rockin’ quartet infuse their dynamic new EP with strains of punk, country and loads of heavy rock. Adrenaline pumping screaming melodic anthems that only hard rock can deliver.” – Power of Pop

“The artwork for the Legends Never Die EP, that features a leather clad skeleton shifting into high gear in a muscle car, gives you a a fair idea of what to expect from Ontario’s The Castor Troys latest release, and you won’t be disappointed or surprised as this is balls out rock ‘n roll with a punk edge. ” The Punk Site

“They play a kind of anthemic punk rock with hard rock influences thrown in that has as much to do with Rise Against and Ignite as with Monster Truck and Iron Maiden… If you are into hard rockin’ riffs and tons of ooh’s and aah’s, feel free to check out The Castor Troys.” – Punk Rock Theory

About:

The band is a three piece consisting of Trayne Rekk on Bass/Vocals/Stupidity, TimTim plucking Guitar/Vocals and Jordan Stubbs on Drums. Rarely sober the band’s infectious music invites even the most conservative wall flower to act stupid. One would expect the band to have influences like KISS, SLAYER, and Iron Maiden, but Trayne blames Hank Willams Jr. for much of his blue collar topics.

Puttin’On The Foil’s signature sound starts with Hank Williams, toss in some Ramones, thickened with Motorhead, and a dash of Nashville Pussy gives it that good time feel. Fans can be sure to understand the bands incredibly love of a good time from their music and live shows.

“Are you ready for the most fun you’ve had listening to an album? No? Too damn bad, because Puttin’ On The Foil are set to unload all over you with Fired Up, Ready To Roll. This album has literally a little bit of everything but the kitchen sink and rap music on it and it’s a country, rock, punk, metal party if there ever was one- even if there was one, it wouldn’t matter- this is the party.” – The Front Row Report

“Shirtless dude in overalls? Check. Long-haired fella in a Canadian Tuxedo? Check.  Bottles and blunts? Ok we are ready. Puttin’ on the Foil are Calgary’s premier hillbilly punk act…” – Calgary Is Awesome

“Puttin’ on the Foil’s signature mix of good time country vibes and punk rock intensity make their shows feel more like a Stampede after-party.” – Calgary Journal

“If you are looking for a great philosophical punk album to bring a smile to your face on a bleak day then look no further than ‘Fire Up, Ready to Roll’, from Calgary’s Hillbilly punks, ‘Puttin’ On The Foil’.” – Punk Globe

“Now here is one Fuck of an album especially when it comes to the lyrics in the song. The album is a cross between country, Metal and Rock. The lyrics, how in the hell do I even start explaining the lyrics in this album. For me the lyrics are some of the funniest ones that I have heard in a real long time and that actually work within the song. If you are a fan of the Trailer Park Boys or just Construction humour and Country living humour then you have to check this album out.” Kingston Music Reviews

“Despite being a comical band, Puttin’ On The Foil have been able to create an album which demonstrates their potential. All three members are actually rather talented musicians, like Steel Panther, who just enjoy creating hillbilly rock. If you do not take yourself too seriously then you could easily enjoy this harmless rock album.” – Ghost Cult Mag

“What can I say about this album? I say, grab a beer, turn it up loud, get out your air guitar, and bounce around the house like a lunatic!” – Midlands Metal Heads

About: Life’s too short so f$%k it – let’s get drunk and stoned!

“Ya, that’s pretty much it man, “states vocalist Kevin Rowland. “It’s all about the party and having a good time. Life’s too short, so you might as well think on the bright side, drink a few beers and rock out!” Puttin’ on the Foil bring more than their fair share of party to the table on their latest album, ‘Sing-A-Long-Drinkin’’ Songs – a self-produced effort, engineered by Johnny Gasparic. The album’s seventeen tracks run the gamut from Iron Maiden inspired speed metal, to AC/DC rhythmic groove, all wrapped up and warped out with their very own blend of hillbilly, mountain punk.

Playing over 150 shows a year, Calgary, Alberta’s Puttin’ on the Foil come ready to bring the party to your doorstep. Their debut album, Sing-A-Long-Drinkin’ Songs blends elements of classic southern hard rock with modern punk; all wrapped up and warped out with singer / bassist Kevin Rowland’s excellent sense of humor.
