Colorado Springs, CO black metal duo HELLEBORUS founded by brothers Jerred & Wyatt Houseman announce they will be unleashing their much anticipated debut album ‘The Carnal Sabbath’ via Satanth Records (Russia) and Black Plague Records (USA) on June 17th, 2016. The album is a Bacchic frenzy of carnal abandon told through lascivious guitars and tempting bass rhythms along with elements of black, death and doom metal to provide a vast backdrop for an ambiance of potential and possibility. Conceived within the womb of Execration, Helleborus is the latest emanation of Jerred & Wyatt Houseman. Like the enigmatic and deadly winter flower from which the project takes its name, Helleborus pushes the exploration of traditional black metal into the uncharted territory of sensual duality and mysticism. Building on their professional experience with Execration and personal experiences through Akhenaten, the Houseman brothers sought a deeper expression of their experiential-driven musical style that audiences can connect with through a union of opposites.

“We’ve always had a vision for the type of black metal project Helleborus would be. We wanted to explore and deliver a darker and yet more romantic side of black metal. There is an unknown side of metal that is masculine and powerful, yet sensual and respectful; controlled chaos.” comments vocalist Wyatt Houseman.

      Blending a sound that is a complex mix of classical orchestrations, cosmic synths, and extreme metal to portray the epics of parallel worlds, Hickory, N.C. based RAPHEUMETS WELL (Ra-few-mets) bring forth a voyage enriched with lore, fabricated from scratch to show the depth in which represents them as artists.
Formed in 2008, 2011 and 2012 saw their first two demos followed by their first self release full length ‘Dimensions’ unleashed in 2014 that progressively told a larger story portrayed in a complex saga of Atai (ancient architects) who aid in the propagation of sentient life throughout the multi-verse.
From the birth of organic matter to great wars that tear the fabric of space/time, the story of RAPHEUMETS WELL‘s music serves to immerse you into a world of oddities, which is now continued in the band’s sophomore release ‘The Exile’ due out on March 18th, 2016 via Test Your Metal Records.

“Our album ‘The Exile’ we felt was a alluring story following our release of Dimensions due to its more personal nature. The story, while taking place on a distant planet follows the journey of Darmak Ildna, a military commander from the Sunak Empire. A malevolent deity of a sorts lands on the planet and enforces his mandate. We wrote this album to reflect this journey. From flesh eating gates and alien invasions to time and space being ripped and the protagonist getting his skin peeled from his bones, it needed a amalgamation of brutal riffing with cosmic soundscapes to portray this. We were able to record and master this ourselves so we are very happy with all the work we have done. Thanks to Test Your Metal Records, we have a medium to share our creation.”

The word “Well” refers to the gravity wells, which like black holes, are catalyst of change and gateways between the cosmic plains.
“We created this name in hopes of personifying a living gateway between dimensions. We love science fiction and a few of us have extended education and degrees in science.” says drummer Joshua Ward.
Live the band’s concert theatrics is a show truly to entertain the crowd with an opus of metal while still satisfying their story lines in their music creating an intimate but relatable ambiance for fans, especially those who enjoy bands such as Dimmu Borgir, Fleshgod Apocalypse, The Faceless, Emperor, Black Crown Initiate.

“This song is the first great “shift” in the downfalls of the main character in the story.  After being tortured and then remade to fulfill his vengeful mission, he see’s in the distance the dark spire. It was Daasha (the witch), his wife’s trusted friend and counselor to the court that betrayed them.  She exposed Darmak and his family was executed because of it. You can imagine the burning sensation in your gut to have another shot at the person who has done you so wrong. Each riff outlines the emotions and actions that take place in the characters ascent through the dark spire. This song is like the first “boss fight” for us.”

“Planetary Cenotaph, being the last song on the album, was a bit “challenging” for us in terms of composition as we write the music to the story.  The main character just destroyed an entire planet.  Due to his immortal  “curse” he is floating in the stellar remnants of his home-world.  While his body is reforming and he is adrift he has a lot of time to think.  His wife wife and kids were murdered, his empire betrayed him, he was tortured, he has seen some very wild stuff.  He is processing the events in a very numb and displaced way.  The emotions of the song actually came from the deaths of family members of the band recently.  In the last two years we lost four parents and a grandparent, all within months of each other.  So, this became a memorial song to them while keeping to the context of the story.  What better way for us to honor someone than to write a metal song!”

“Our first single Resurrecting the Blood Gate is one of our more aggressive songs which highlights the the central plot of the story on the upcoming album The Exile. Since our music is very story driven, we were excited to create this amalgamation of orchestral sounds and brutal metal to represent the emotions each of the characters are feeling. As such Resurrecting the Blood Gate was our first choice to help sum up the experience to come from our album in its entirety. We have a lot of good things coming thanks to the help of Grant and Test Your Metal Records as we have been hard at work making a full video titled “Crucible of Titans” which will be coming in March. We look forward to the fans hearing our new direction as well as the critiques which can only help us grow.”

About:

Inspired by the fictitious universe of Sovael, RAPHEUMETS WELL is the name coined to the conscious deity who oversees the anastomosis of the multiverse, the master of portals and inter-dimensional travel. Being personified as a trickster, Rapheumet often creates chaos for unsuspecting voyagers. The word “Well” refers to the gravity wells, which like black holes, are catalyst of change and gateways between the cosmic plains.
“We created this name in hopes of personifying a living gateway between dimensions. We love science fiction and a few of us have extended education and degrees in science.” says drummer Joshua Ward.

HELLEBORUS Announce Feb 17th Denver Support Date w/ Fleshgod Apocalypse + 2016 Fest Dates

Colorado Springs, CO black metal out fit HELLEBORUS founded by brothers Jerred & Wyatt Houseman announce they will be supporting Fleshgod Apocalypse on February 17th in Denver, CO at the Marquis Theatre plus confirm they will be performing later this year at the 71Grind Fest and Shadow Woods Metal Fest (details below).

“This is a great start of the year for us and we will be announcing more shows soon. It’s a great honor to be sharing the stage with these tyrants from Italy. We expect our Denver area heathens to be sharing a glass of wine with us at the end of the night.” comments vocalist Wyatt Houseman.

In addition, HELLEBORUS plan to release their debut album ‘The Carnal Sabbath’ in 2016 with the release date still to be determined. The album is a Bacchic frenzy of carnal abandon told through lascivious guitars and tempting bass rhythms along with elements of black, death and doom metal to provide a vast backdrop for an ambiance of potential and possibility. Conceived within the womb of Execration, Helleborus is the latest emanation of Jerred & Wyatt Houseman. Like the enigmatic and deadly winter flower from which the project takes its name, Helleborus pushes the exploration of traditional black metal into the uncharted territory of sensual duality and mysticism. Building on their professional experience with Execration and personal experiences through Akhenaten, the Houseman brothers sought a deeper expression of their experiential-driven musical style that audiences can connect with through a union of opposites.
