Canada’s traditional heavy‑metal torchbearers proudly announce the official release of their sixth studio album, “Shadows and Dust,” available everywhere on June 6, 2026. The band also confirms its new partnership with Steel Shark Records (France), which will handle the album’s European release and will offer an exclusive EU edition limited to just 300 double‑CD copies. Disc 1 will contain the full “Shadows and Dust” album, while Disc 2 will feature a “Best Of” collection highlighting tracks from Iron Kingdom’s previous five releases. In addition, the label will introduce a third vinyl colour (100 copies) available only to EU fans.

To celebrate the album, Iron Kingdom is kicking off a summer of touring that includes festival appearances at Armstrong Metal Fest and Loud As Hell Open Air Festival (dates listed below).

Formed in 2011, Iron Kingdom has spent over a decade reviving the classic heavy‑metal spirit inspired by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween, The Scorpions, and Rush. The band is well known for its energetic and electrifying stage presence, as well as intricate musical melodies that bring listeners back to a time when heavy metal was in its prime.

With “Shadows and Dust,” the band continues to evolve while staying true to the melodic, epic, and adventurous sound that defines them. Lead vocalist and guitarist Chris Osterman describes their sonic identity as classic, powerful, epic, adventurous, and melodic.

Lyrically and musically, “Shadows and Dust” explores themes of death, hardship, perseverance, and the emotional lows that shape the human experience.

“It speaks of some very low points in human emotions… but I also think that’s exactly what will make this album accessible to people going through tougher times… the music shows hope for a positive way out,” adds Osterman.

The album features 10 new tracks and runs approximately 48 minutes, offering a dynamic mix of classic heavy metal, power metal, progressive elements, and neo‑classical flair.

The cover art draws from the story behind “Blood and Steel,” depicting an army marching through a harsh landscape, a metaphor for endurance through suffering.

“Life is often like this: we have to go through things that are uncomfortable, even dangerous, to reach the position we need to be,” adds bassist Leighton Holmes.

Iron Kingdom released three singles leading up to the album launch, “Deadhouse Gates”, a mystical, melodic heavy‑metal rocker inspired by the Malazan Book of the Fallen. “Blood and Steel”, a marching, drum‑and‑bass‑driven epic about a soldier lost far from home. “Defenders”, a fast, emotional tribute to the Battle of Gdansk, inspired in part by Osterman’s Polish family history.

“Even though this song is fast and heavy… I think it speaks to the courage of those who defend their families, their friends, and their way of life,” adds Osterman.

Colorado power metal storytellers Siege Perilous ignite the next chapter of their musical saga with the release of their first single and music video, “As the Dragon Falls”, featuring legendary vocalist Fabio Lione (Rhapsody, Angra). The track serves as the first glimpse into the band’s sweeping debut concept album, “Becoming the Dragon,” out March 27, 2026.

Forged from the camaraderie of live‑action roleplay and a shared love of epic storytelling, Siege Perilous has built a reputation for crafting cinematic, narrative‑driven metal that blends myth, history, and high‑fantasy adventure. “As the Dragon Falls” is more than a single; it’s a milestone for the band, especially for vocalist Shaughnessy McDaniel, who has been a devoted Rhapsody fan since his teens.

“As the Dragon Falls represents a true heavy metal dream come true for all of us, but especially for Shaughnessy. Working with Fabio far exceeded anything we could have hoped for. “Becoming the Dragon” is a ten‑part epic chronicling the rise, fall, and metamorphosis of the “Child of Prophecy,” a hero who must confront fate, tragedy, and ultimately his own transformation into the titular dragon. Unveiling their monumental musical odyssey and EP “Creation’s Call” in August 2024, Denver’s fantasy power metal warriors Siege Perilous unveil plans for their first full-length album.

Entitled “Becoming the Dragon,” the album is the band’s biggest and most ambitious work yet—a cinematic, narrative journey set in a world of warriors, dragons, and destiny. To help Siege Perilous unleash this epic power metal story, the band enlisted two of the most epic voices in the genre: Fabio Lione (Angra, ex-Rhapsody of Fire), a legendary power metal voice, and Kristin Starkey (Twilight Force, Temperance), the powerful contralto who brings her operatic touch to the tale.

A single narrative power metal opera from start to finish, “Becoming the Dragon” is centered around the Child of Prophecy, the hero who slays the dragon, played by Fabio Lione, but then comes to question whether he is truly a hero or simply a pawn of an ancient prophecy. After a journey of self-discovery that takes him across a vast fantasy world he, aided by the mystic Sorceress (Kristin Starkey), takes on the forces of destiny itself to forge a new future.

To bring this concept record to life, Siege Perilous is using Kickstarter and, once again, enlisting the help of power metal fans.

They lean more the Metal side of the equation using the folk and orchestral moments as flavour, not the main style. In August 2024, Mile High Power Fest kicked off a new chapter for the Denver, Colorado power metal scene, and for local promoter BiteSize Productions. With an attendance of nearly 400 for its inaugural year, Mile High Power Metal Fest is proud to return on August 16th, once again at the Oriental Theater for its 2nd edition with its 2025 lineup featuring POWERGLOVE, GLYPH, OWLBEAR, EMPRESS, LYCANTHRO, CELESTIAL WIZARD and more! Featuring headliner Boston’s PowerGlove, the very beloved instrumental power metal cover band will present a night of nostalgic tributes to retro video game and television themes. The band released their latest EP “The Super Smash Bros” in August 2024.

They are joined by the Pacific Northwest’s Glyph, which is not just a heavy metal band, they are a crew of intergalactic mercenaries escaping a dying planet in their spaceship, the VSS Dragonlord. Clearly, Glyph isn’t just writing songs, they’re building worlds and they bring it forth in their latest album “Honor, Power, Glory” released in March 2024.

Formed in 2020 during a time in which plague stalked the land and time lost all meaning, the core of Owlbear is comprised of North American scene veterans Katheryn Scary (vocals), Jeff Taft (guitars), and Leona Hayward (bass), all of whom hail from different corners of the continent. The band made their live debut at the sold-out Legions of Metal festival in Chicago in 2024 in support of their debut album “Chaos to the Realm” (2023) (Alone Records). Musically, Owlbear draws influence from classic heavy and speed metal and roots their lyrics in the media its members love, from the famous roleplaying game that inspired the band’s namesake to the Final Fantasy franchise. Dynamic vocals, frenetic riffing, and bass that are equal parts pummeling and acrobatic drive the band’s relentless approach, and with the imminent release of their sophomore album “Feather & Claw” on February 28th, 2025 via Alone Records, Owlbear aims to continue to carve out its niche within the heavy metal community with a savage swipe of a plumed talon.

Hailing from Philadelphia, Empress is a symphonic power metal quintet that loves weaving grand tales over catchy and triumphant symphonic soundscapes. Their critically acclaimed debut album, titled “Fateweaver” released in August 2022, which renowned mixing and mastering engineer Dan Swanö has characterized as one of his best works in melodic metal, carefully entwines musical universes and invites you to follow your imagination and fantasy. Among Empress’ remarked past live performances, it is worth mentioning their album release show at Mad With Power Fest in Madison, WI, on the release day of “Fateweaver”, as well as having shared the stage with bands such as Oceans of Slumber, Seven Spires, and Grim Reaper on their journey to conquering the symphonic metal stronghold with sophistication.

Trekking from the Canadian North, Ottawa’s Lycanthro encapsulates a heavy, yet melodic sound, that is drawn from influences of both European/American classic power and thrash metal along with high howling vocals, piercing guitars, a booming rhythm section as well as uses of instruments such as piano and classical guitar to forge a powerful sound. Fans be prepared for an energetic and epic stage presence as they take you on their lyrical journey of classic horror and mythology. They recently released their new single “Iris”, which will be featured on their upcoming 2025 album “Remnants of Rapture”. The single was mixed/mastered by Damien Rainaud (Dragonforce / Once Human) and features a keyboard solo from Arttu Vauhkonen (Arion).

Local hometown heroes, Denver’s Celestial Wizard brings a mix of fantasy and heavy metal to the table, giving you a front-row seat to a sci-fi experience unlike any other! The band has been blazing new trails with their aggressive, powerful sound. Pulling from both power metal and death metal, they achieve a melodic, high-intensity mix that hits just right. Their sophomore album ‘Winds of the Cosmos’ showcases just that, as they deliver hard-driving riffs paired with aggressive, death metal-styled vocals. ‘Winds of the Cosmos’ is a metal monster in a league all its own!

Also supporting the lineup will be Denver’s blackened pagan power metal Oak, Ash & Thorn who released their latest album “Our Grief Is Thus” in April 2024 on Lost Future Records. The Mile High Power Festival, Denver’s only power metal festival was derived from the creative mind of Soren Bray. The idea was born after a night of celebration with his band, Celestial Wizard while attending the HyperSpace Festival in Vancouver, Canada. It was then that Soren realized the U.S. had only a handful of power metal festivals—and none near his home in Denver. Partnering with Lucy, owner of Bitesize Productions LLC, Soren teamed up to turn this dream into a reality. Inspired by his youthful years of playing Sonic Adventure on his Sega Dreamcast and being wondered but its luring soundtrack, Marko Bojkovic over the years has been exploring instrumental guitar sounds, and will be presenting his eighth studio album “Powercore” on January 24th, 2025 on Forerunner Recordings.

Packing the most punch with perfectly combined progressive metal, power metal, metalcore, and djent along with influences from jazz fusion to classical music, Bojkovic‘s new album “Powercore” (named after his own dubbed genre of metal called Progressive PowerCore) is meant to send positive messages such as being able to accomplish anything you set your mind to and believing in yourself. Musically, the album’s guitar solos are among the best he’s ever written. As a small content creator on YouTube and Patreon, Bojkovic has become known on the internet for his economy-picking prowess, which he showcases to excellent use on the songs featured in this full-length. Denver-based power metal outfit Siege Perilous has once again ignited the flames of epic storytelling with their newest single “Sons of the Verdant”, which comes from their second EP “Creation’s Call” slated for an August 2024 release. Influenced by LARP, historical events, and fantasy literature, the single is sure to grab the attention of listeners across the metal spectrum. The band comments:

“This song has an interesting combination of dark and triumphant. The story is a fantasy version of a story we see repeated throughout history, that of native resistance to colonizing oppressors. One of the cool things about fantasy is the ability to take these universal themes and be able to apply them without having to point at one group of people and borrow their story, especially since there are so many instances of it from Antiquity to Modern Day.”

The band goes on to explain that this is probably one of their most musically complex songs, featuring longer and more varied instrumental sections, having vocals be almost more of a punchy accent than the driving force, hitting at the right times while really letting the amazing instrumentalists in the band rock out.

Exploding onto the metal scene in 2019, Finnish power metal band Metal De Facto made their debut with “Imperium Romanum”, a full-length with a theme-driven collection of songs about Ancient Rome that was bombastically nostalgic old-school power metal. These fresh but familiar songs quickly caught the attention of metal listeners worldwide, notably with the first single ‘¨The Conqueror’ amassing over 200,000 video views and over 600,000 streams on various streaming platforms.

In early 2020, the band held their first headlining show in Helsinki, which attracted fans from all over the world to attend the show in a packed On the Rocks club. This success quickly led the band to continue performing live, opening for prime moving metal bands Ensiferum and Beast in Black.

Consisting of guitarists Esa Orjatsalo (ex Dreamtale) and Mikko Salovaara (Kiuas), bassist Sami Hinkka (Ensiferum, ssSHhh), keyboardist Benji Klint-Connelly (Everfrost) and drummer Atte Marttinen (ex Kivimetsän Druidi). It was announced however in 2022 that former vocalist Mikael Salo (ex Thy Row, ex Dyecrest) would no longer be the band’s singer. On the same day, the band’s new vocalist Aitor Arrastia hailing from Spain was announced along with the announcement of the band’s upcoming second full-length album, Land of the Rising Sun Part 1. The album will be the first of two parts, themed after Japanese culture.

To preview their sophomore record “Land Of The Rising Sun Part. 1,” Metal De Facto is unveiling the first single “Code of The Samurai”, a triumphant anthem, a testament to their signature power metal sound. Epic and resounding, the single exhibits the band’s unparalleled musical craftsmanship revealing at the same time its new partnership with new vocalist Aitor Arrastia. It captures the essence of their celebrated style, fueling anticipation for their forthcoming concept album.

Presenting epic power metal with a twist of Greek Mythology, Montreal, Canada’s Walk With Titans will be releasing their debut album “Olympian Dystopia” on May 26th, 2023 via Rockshots Records.

Today, the band shares the album’s opening track and second single “Herakles”. It’s a track about the Greek Hero and is a straightforward metal hymn in which Walk With Titans channel their inner Manowar.

Efficient, epic, well executed, heavy, and mythical, this is what power metal fans will discover from 50 minutes of Walk With Titans’ first full-length “Olympian Dystopia” brought forth by Nikko Cyr (drums), Nick Maugy (rhythm guitar), Louis Jacques (lead guitar) (ex-Blackguard), Lydz Grondin (bass), and Jonathan Vézina (vocals & orchestrations).

Guitarist Louis Jacques adds:

“It’s a power metal album without compromising the epic side. I think listeners will realize that and enjoy it. We made this album during the pandemic and it kept us sane, we hope fans will find the same joy in listening to it as we had to make it! We bring some ancient Greek Myths to the forefront like Eurydice and Herakles, while others are more subtle like ‘Edge of Time’, which is Khronos representing time eating us all. Other tracks on the record we made as an analogy for societal issues.”
