Montreal, QC – May 16, 2019

For fans of Marty Friedman, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Buckethead, Tony MacAlpine

Guitarist Frankie C. (Vesperia) Unleashes New Shredding Playthrough “Life By Fire”

Debut EP “Cellular Damascus” Out Now!

Frankie C., known for his guitar work in Canadian symphonic death metal band Vesperia recently released his side project entitled “Cellular Damascus” this past March. An instrumental solo project that came to light after he was crowned champion of season one of “Shredders of Metal” presented by Banger TV. The EP is technical, groovy and energetic, and lets the listener focus on the guitar work that he takes great pride in orchestrating.

Posting his next playthrough video in support of his debut, Frankie C. explains ‘Life By Fire’:

“This song is quite a lot of fun to play. There are many exciting melodic themes as well as head banging sections and a lot of notes! To me this song is evil but fun.”

Watch ‘Life By Fire’ at the following link: https://youtu.be/-t8wzZ2aNe8

Previous playthroughs:
‘Fall of The Hammer’: https://youtu.be/ScxRxFp-QUs
‘Cellular Damascus’: https://youtu.be/aCocz8CQCso

Frankie C. adds:

“I want fans to have fun listening to ‘Cellular Damascus’. I wanted to create interesting melodic phrases, but still have heavy riffs to headbang along with, shred hard, but not lose sight of the music and try to have a clear mix where things aren’t overly processed but all instruments/parts are still clear and audible.”

All four tracks on this debut flow together and show off excellent musicianship. Excited to be focusing on more solo work in the future, Frankie C. has confirmed another release in the future.

“Cellular Damascus” is now out as of March 13, 2019, and available for stream and download on Bandcamp, Spotify, Youtube, iTunes.

Track Listing:
1. So It Begins (1:06)
2. Fall Of The Hammer (2:55)
3. Cellular Damascus (3:14)
4. Life By Fire (3:19)

Bio:

Cellular Damascus is the instrumental solo project from Vesperia’s Frankie Caracci. Looking to try something new and forge his wide array of influences together to make something that is uniquely his own.

The first release, the self-titled EP (2019), introduces fans to the melodic and technical headbanging music on which Caracci solely wrote, performed and produced. Influenced but guitar mavericks such as Jeff Loomis, Joe Satriani, Jason Becker, and Michael Romeo and genres such as modern and classic heavy metal thrash, prog and death metal there is an assortment of features in each track that keep the listener on their toes and attentive to the music.

“Power metal kings, Songs about sci-fi movies, What more do you need? ” – Metal Injection

“It’s the rare power metal record where the artist is as confident in handling its subtle, reserved material as it is its neck-thrashing, riff-centric centerpieces, and Dire Peril manages both aesthetics with more care than the bulk of bands in its genre. As far as straightforward power metal goes, this may well be the very best that 2018 has to offer. ” – Angry Metal Guy

“a sci-fi infused power metal monster. Ashcraft adds a more galloping, Iced Earth, huge and grand guitar riffing to the mix and of course Yelland’s vocals are phenomenal.” – Metal Marks The Spot

” Dire Peril’s first full-length album is an excellent display of American power metal.”  – Indy Metal Vault

“Bulletproof songwriting, soaring vocals, tremendous solos, exceptional song-to-song variety, and an uncanny ability to be both a little bit tongue-in-cheek and deadly serious at the same time: what in the goddamn hell more could you ask for? This is a marvelous album. ” – Your Last Rites

“this may well be the best Power Metal has to offer in 2018.” – Metal-Temple

“With their full-length debut, The Extraterrestrial Compendium, they have gone above and beyond my expectations, producing one of the best power metal albums of the year, which manages to be both very dynamic and consistently engaging throughout. I especially recommend it for fans of the harder hitting, more guitar driven side of power metal, as there’s a ton of thrash influence here, as well as a fair bit of classic heavy metal and some slight prog leanings. Everything is done well, with vocalist John Yelland giving the best performance of his career, and overall, it’s an amazing album from start to finish.” – My Global Mind

““in its conceptual and musical depth, Dire Peril’s The Extraterrestrial Compendium is rather epic and entertaining guitar-forward power metal…power metal and sci-fi go together like beer and pizza. Get it. You won’t be disappointed.” – Dangerdog Music Reviews

“DIRE PERIL prove that America still has great talent in the Power Metal realm” – Metal-Temple.com

“a wonderful album that will take you on an intergalactic journey through many popular sci fi movies. It is an album that is full of melodic vocals and kick ass guitars. ” – Baby Dolls and Razor Blades

SHORT BIO:

Dire Peril was an idea that goes as far back as Jason Ashcraft’s (guitars, bass) high school years. The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since.

Originally formed in 2009, the band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. In 2015, feeling like things just weren’t as they should be, Ashcraft decided to take a step back and take a hard look at where the band was headed.

Inspired by all manner of science fiction, especially classic sci-fi movies, Dire Peril regrouped as a double piece; Ashcraft was joined by singer John Yelland, and together they began working on the debut album titled “The Extraterrestrial Compendium,” set for release on November 9, 2018. Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including an upcoming North American tour with Seven Kingdoms allowing the American sci-fi power metal band to reach its final form and share their dark, aggressive adventure with the masses.

LONG BIO:

Dire Peril was an idea that goes as far back as Jason Ashcraft’s (guitars, bass) highschool years. The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since. Originally formed in 2009 as the name under which Ashcraft used to perform covers, the band wouldn’t see it’s true form until around 2012, when Jason joined forces with the Bay Area powerhouse vocalist Norman Skinner.

The band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. In 2015, feeling like things just weren’t as they should be, Ashcraft decided to take a step back and take a hard look at where the band was headed.

‘The Extraterrestrial Compendium’ bases each one of its 12 songs on classic sci-fi movies including Predator, Total Recall, Starship Troopers, and E.T. and features guests Brittany Slayes (Unleash the Archers) and Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon).

Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including large North American tours with Sirenia and Unleash the Archers plus most recently supporting Seven Kingdoms this coming November on select USA tour dates. The American sci-fi power metal band is close to reaching its final form and is now ready to share their dark, aggressive adventure with the masses.

Biography

From the rain-swept city of Vancouver come Wormwitch; the result of strain, both musically and mentally, becoming possessed by black metal instrumentals, rock and roll roots, and depressive lyrics. The black metal three-piece is the brainchild of former members of local hardcore act Dead Hand (2013-2015). Wormwitch is Colby Hink (guitar), Max Vüst (drums), and Robin Harris (bass & vocals). The songs are treated as unearthed bones, first they are arranged and named, then a story is developed based on the fractures and cuts, and finally the song is complete.

The band has been constantly swinging like a pendulum further and further right, as if the far left was classic punk rock and the right being blasphemous black metal. Wormwitch have been and will continue to become enveloped in European influences tinged with the slightest hint of rock and roll. The band consists of just three instruments, but somehow combines them all to create a catastrophous sound.

Each song is built to prey upon listeners as if taking in their energy and maintaining a deadly grip. The band’s goal is to engage the audience both instrumentally and emotionally as if to exhaust them. “The Long Defeat,” is the first EP discharged from the collective mind of Wormwitch. The band is currently drafting their sophomore release which has yet to be named. They are also releasing their rogue single titled “Coffin Birth” focusing on nature taking charge and sacrificing and renewing itself, all in an effort to destroy the blight of man.

About:
“Laugh At The Fakes” features Everett Mason (Vocals and Guitar), Galen Weir (bass), Kevin Daliri (guitar) and Chris Avalos (drums).
Their debut six-song EP ‘One Night Only’ was released in 2011 and their 2014 follow-up full-length album, Dethrone the Crown, is scheduled to drop this fall on November 14th. Produced by Greg Dawson and mastered by Andy VanDette (Rush, Dream Theatre, Kid Rock, Deep Purple, Bruce Dickenson, Bif Naked) is a “no filler riffs, just money riffs”, as vocalist / guitarist Mason puts it, “the record deals with today’s most newsworthy topics: War, guns, murder and corruption. It’s real, it’s raw and, of course, it’s honest.’
Touring across Canada, the Toronto-based group has built a solid following with music that’s geared to stand the test of time. Heavy, melodic, crushing and catchy – Laugh at the Fakes is all that and more.

“It’s like they are a hard rock band that likes to explore their thrashy-side too. I love it because I enjoy the catchy melodic vocals but at the same time I can bang my head pretty seriously too. You don’t hear albums like this one very often, if at all. I can’t really think of anything that comes close to being like this album as a whole. ”- Rock Music Critic

“I’ll admit, I laughed at the band name when I first heard it, but these guys are no joke.” – Gruesomeviews.com

“Laugh At The Fakes debut EP One Night Only proves that Melodic Vocals still can reign supreme in Metal albums.” – Kingston Music Reviews

“The first attraction to hit the stage was Rock/Metal band LAUGH AT THE FAKES, from Toronto, Ontario. Those guys play a nice mix of Rock N’ Roll, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, very old school but with a more polished sounding, and they surely entertained everyone already at Hard Rock Café before 9pm.” – The Headbanging Moose (concert review Indie Week 2014)

About the band:

BornBroken was formed with one simple mission in mind: Help the masses find a voice, a face, an “X” that marks the spot through the sounds of beating skins, metal strings and broken chords.

“Montreal’s BornBroken simply go for the throat and never let up. Their debut record The Healing Powers of Hate is a no holds barred punch to the face. Combining the aggression of Lamb of God with the riffs of Pantera makes for a modern day polished metal release. A concept record based around mankind’s ability to overcome adversity and rise up against it, the message is powerful and thought provoking.” – About.com – Heavy Metal – Drago’s Dungeon: June 2013 The Month’s Best Unsigned Heavy Metal Bands

“BornBroken may be the best metal band you probably haven’t heard of. Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken. Their latest album, The Healing Powers of Hate, is the perfect combination of heavy meets melodic and combines what you’d hear from Lamb of God, Hatebreed and Five Finger Death Punch into one powerful, melodic, fist-pounding metal experience. There’s not one dull moment here and any metal head should at least check this album out. Rating: 8.5/10″ – TheFrontRowReport

“These extreme metallers have done an amazing job of combining death and thrash without treading on melodic death too much…The quality of the recording is also up to standards, including some gravity blasts that’ll have you shouting, “fuck yeah!”…This is a debut metal album of epic proportions. If it’s not the Canadian metal album of the year, it’s certainly in the running for Canadian debut metal album.” – 4/5 – Yell Magazine

“‘The Healing Power of Hate’ is a well executed album, tight and well produced, at times with strong hardcore influence. I liked the strong profile that the drums took, the guitar breaks were exciting and all the way through the vocals were first rate. The time taken to create it is very evident in the final result.” 4.5/5 – MetalTalk

“From the Canadian Mecca of metal, Montreal, comes upstart antagonists of aggression BornBroken and their debut The Healing Powers of Hate. From the opening moments of lead track “Can’t Quiet the Riot” it’s obvious these boys aim to take their hybrid of groove metal and metalcore and jam it right down your throat. Drawing heavily from the likes of Pantera and Lamb of God, the first meal of the day is a pit-ready anthem. Working off catchy as fuck, breakdown inflected riffs BornBroken mercilessly pound the listener to pulp. There is absolutely no doubt people leave a BornBroken show with injuries.” – Hellbound

“Montreal Metalheads spawn a beast of a debut album…Over the years, there has been the odd occasion when a debut album has really struck me between the eyes, knocked me to the ground and given a damn good slapping (in the musical sense of course). Here is the latest in that line, an album of intense and brutal passion mixed with a groove based element that had me hooked from track one.” – Planet Mosh

“This album is 44 minutes of pure adrenaline infused death-thrash metal at its finest. The Healing Powers Of Hate captures the voice of ‘the broken’ and grants an identity to the thousands of so called misfits that struggle to find a place in our society. Marching to the sounds of brutal bass, slamming percussion, high-speed guitar solos and violently powerful vocals, the broken shall rise.” – LouderThanHell – 5/5

“The Healing Power of Hate is a great example of why Canadian metal is regarded around the world as being of very high quality: Because, quite simply, it is”. – GoetiaMetal

“It’s aggressive, fierce, and well-crafted” – Bloody Underated

“I especially liked the guitars’ tone and the bass omnipresence, which add a thick extra layer of heaviness to the overall sound and prevent the album from feeling too polished or light. A well-crafted album without frills: as I mentioned above, BornBroken is not here to be cute but instead to knock you out with a direct hit in the face and they achieve this perfectly.” – Metal Made In Canada

“I was sucked in after the first couple of songs and if I had a label I would sign them in a heartbeat! I understand that this release was self-produced and if that is the case these boys are ten steps ahead of the game and will have labels banging through their doors in no time.” – XplosiveMetal

“Many of the hooks and riffs are excellent, they absolutely destroy my speakers, and the bedroom mosh commences.” – MetalStorm

“this record succeeds because it is so damn fun to listen to and the aggression seems just 2nd nature to these guys.” – Imhotep

“I thoroughly enjoyed “The Healing Powers of Hate”. It’s got breakdowns, screaming solos and funky bass, three of my favourite things. I also liked the way the band incorporated other non-musical features, such as the sounds of sirens and spoken lyrics. It’s hard to hate on this album, despite the healing powers the emotion offers. ” – Metal Temple

“The Healing Powers Of Hate is the debut release from these up-and-comers and is loaded with hard-hitting riffs and even heavier breakdowns. With this album BornBroken have resurrected the intense metallic sounds of bands the likes of A Life Once Lost, Hatebreed, Nora, and Arise And Ruin that once dominated the North American metal scene. It’s wonderful to hear a band like BornBroken bringing back what some might consider the peak sound of modern metal.”

– MusikUniverse

“Musically, BornBroken are a more solid, and extremely heavy, lot. Simon Savard and Mike Decker’s surging, Dimebag Darrell-inspired grooves hit like haymakers throughout, aided by the sort of dry, ultra-punchy production Terry Date used to achieve such brutal majesty with Pantera, Unearth, Deftones and on White Zombie’s Astro Creep: 2000. The sound here is huge – especially for a self-released effort – clear and quite pummeling.” – Metal-Rules

“It’s not often when you find yourself deep inside of a storyline with an album especially a Metal album, and this is exactly where you find yourself being drowned in throughout The Healing Powers of Hate. Every lyric and every song has a purpose and sheds the tearing storyline that is BornBroken. Throughout every well timed riff through the endless pounding of the skins and through each scream and Growl BornBroken brings you down to their deep hell and shows you their vision through The Healing Powers Of Hate.” – KingstonMusicReviews

“BornBroken deserves broad attention. They’ve already made a very big impression in their native Montreal, both for their live performances as well as their music in general. I honestly don’t know that much about the Montreal metal scene, but I do know that it is getting bigger and more competitive. For these guys to emerge as a local favorite suggests something of their overall quality. Give this one a spin.” SeaofTranquility – 4/5

“BornBroken’s Healing Powers Of Hate is a powerful album that falls in line with the likes of Pantera, Lamb Of God, and Hatebreed with some thrash inspirations from the likes of Testament, and Slayer.” – Emurg.com

“I must say that BornBroken’s amalgamation of melodeath, metalcore and modern thrash works very well. It is well balanced and captures only the good aspects of these three genres, reminding us that, despite all the not-so-interesting bands that roam the three genres, melodeath, metalcore and modern thrash do have a lot to offer…Fans of Pro-Pain, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Machine Head and a wide variety of modern metal bands should definitely check out this potent debut album.” – 4/5 – MetalMusicArchives

“What BornBroken have done here is create an album that ticks pretty much every box on the seriously heavy tick sheet, managing to put together an album which is heavy, melodic, dark, haunting, and yet uplifting at the same time. Representing the pain and angst that went into making it, this album will connect with your soul, and remind you of what heavy is.” – Loud-Stuff.com

“I was digging these guys all the way through and just wanted to keep playing the album over and over again. If you were to mixed elements of PANTERA, SEPULTURA, HATEBREED, SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, HAVOK & SLIPKNOT together you would end up with BornBroken. They have been building up a following of fans in Canada and now are ready for the world. They have a fan for life in me now!” Beowolf Reviews

“The track Control has a super hooky melodic line that rides over a thicker groove.  It really fills my body with warmth while also making my blood boil.  This echoes with a bit of Gothenburg stylistic trappings without going overboard.  It really is a tasty riff.” – Nocturnal Cult

– 8/10 – Boulevard Brutal

“So watch for it. Listen to it. These Montreal Metal Thrash-core compadres are definitely onto something different, and not only with regard to the local scene, but for Metal in general. The BornBroken boys are biting off as much as they can chew by creating a heavy-duty concept album, fusing the powers of all their influences and generating a sound that fluctuates between latter day Sepultura and mid-career Lamb of God.”

– OndesChocs

“…At the first look, the album looks like a collector’s item.”
“…The Healing Powers of Hate as a sound comparable to the big names of the industry…I have the strong impression that everything was thought of on this CD. It’s a very well done album from A to Z. The Healing Powers of Hate from BornBroken is nothing less then a must!!” – Musique D’Une Nation

“BornBroken is the future of Québec Metal, with 10 titles to discover, even on stage, since the group demonstrates an uncanny and totally uncommon, energetic stage presence. They have poured their guts into the making of this introductory album, their own monies and a wealth of professionalism, which must be recognized. Bravo for an excellent album that one just doesn’t tire of listening to.”

About:

Founded in 2009, Karkaos has evolved into one of the most reputable and celebrated metal acts hailing from Montreal, QC. Melodic yet heavy, this female-fronted band succeeds in targeting an immensely wide audience thus establishing a vast following within just a few short years. With Veronica O. Rodriguez as their former charismatic singer and front woman, the band released their first E.P. entitled “In Burning Skies” in 2011 closely followed by a professionally shot music video and a live appearance on Montreal’s prestigious music television station “Musique Plus”.

Following a great reception and positive reviews, the band was invited to participate in local competitions and perform with international acts such as Into Eternity, Enslaved, UneXpect and Unleash the Archers. Growing exponentially, the band enlists new veteran members of the local music scene before returning to the studio to record their debut full-length album called “Empire”. With a new solid line-up, the band released the music video for “Depths of Madness” in December 2013 and their debut album in March 2014 to critical acclaim.

Forever evolving, Karkaos parted ways with their dedicated singer Veronica, moving into a more focused and professional direction by recruiting Viky Boyer, a young talented extreme vocalist and musician. With Viky at the helm, Karkaos is ready to embark on new ventures, always pushing forward the boundaries of extreme melodic metal.

Calgary, AB progressive power metal quartet VIATHYN is proud to unleash their new album ‘Cynosure’, officially out today, October 7th. Producedby VIATHYN’s Tomislav Crnkovic plus mixed and mastered by Sacha Laskow (Divinity, Every Hour Kills), ‘Cynosure’ features nine epic assaulting tracks with intense guitar shredding and infectious chants that blend prog thrash, melo-death and power metal influences. With VIATHYN‘s 2010 ‘The Peregrine Way’ debut album praised for its innovative song-writing and fresh comparison to today’s power metal, it was only a matter of time for guitarist Jacob Wright to launch into song-writing mode and compose a majority of the material that would be recorded for this second full-length. Even through hindrances such as studio closings, computer crashes, losing a jam space, and a flood, VIATHYN was able to record their second album between August 2012 and February 2014. With the addition of 7-string guitars, some growl vocals, and an evolving influence, Cynosure’s songs are faster, more technical, and heavier, while maintaining a constant melodic and progressive presence ready to be unleashed upon the world.

“After 4 long years, thousands of man-hours, and more than a couple cases of beer, Cynosure is finally here! The entire process was an adventure, but we’re extremely proud of the end result. Hopefully the fact that the album is so dense and busy can buy us some time to try and top it with album 3!! Thanks to everyone that helped make this happen.” comments guitarist Jacob Wright.

About:

A chance encounter at a local record store in Calgary, Alberta between guitarist Jacob Wright, who was just looking for work, and vocalist Tomislav Crnkovic, who happened to be an employee of said shop, resulted in a friendship that gradually led to the creation of progressive power metal outfit Viathyn in 2006 with a solidified live and recording line up in 2009.

Playing off the word ‘Leviathan’, the guys settled on ‘Viathyn’, which has no actual definition in the English language, but when referring to the band can be taken to mean ‘progressive, melodic, grandiose, innovative and emotional’.

Forgoing the strict rules and structure common to the genre, the four-piece is known for its ability to write songs that grow and progress naturally and shift tone unapologetically without falling victim to common tropes. Building on their first full-length album, 2010’s The Peregrine Way, Viathyn is now gearing up to unveil its second record, Cynosure produced by vocalist/guitarist Tomislav Crnkovic plus mixed and mastered by Sacha Laskow (Divinity, Every Hour Kills).

“The literal definition of ‘cynosure’ is a focal point or an object that serves to guide,” explains Wright. “Each track focuses upon a character that is either affected by or acts as an agent of chaos and the message we wanted to express is how small and insignificant our actions and petty squabbles are within the grand scale of the universe. It’s kind of a backwards way of trying to show that we as humans should be humble and respectful to each other!”

Cynosure promises to be faster, more technical and heavier than its predecessor while maintaining a constant melodic and progressive presence – can you handle it?

– 30 –

“A pristine production and moody artwork round off a phenomenal album that takes the best of prog and power metal, adds some celtic influence, and an outstanding feeling for flow, dynamics and melodies that catapults both Viathyn and Cynosure into the uppermost echelons of the genre. At times reminding me of Danish masters Wuthering Heights, the Calgarians are putting bar high and any fan of prog power!” – Metal Observer

“An exploration of disillusion, discord, affliction, enlightenment, and grandeur as seen through nine different storytellers, Viathyn live for a more European-oriented montage of neo-classical runs, twin guitar harmonies, double bass fury, and the occasional mid-tempo transition that can be highly folk or Celtic influenced…Cynosure is proof again that our neighbors to the north can rival the best European acts going in this faithful, happy sub-genre.” – Dead Rhetoric

“From the galloping opener “Ageless Stranger” to the long, swirling, fist-pumping closer “Cynosure”, this album has everything a fan of power metal could want. Guitar solos to die for, pounding rhythm, riffs that stick in your head for days, and a vocalist that impresses you with every song. It is simply an awe inspiring album, on several levels of musicianship, storytelling, and even visually with artwork that is absolutely beautiful.” – Crown of Viserys

“An atmospheric metal album with grand vocal work and guitar structure.” – Headbang or GFTO

“Cynosure is an album with plenty to offer fans of the Progressive Power Metal sound, as VIATHYN have a great talent for making melodies and their songwriting abilities have enabled them to make an album full of long songs without getting boring.” – Metal Temple

“the songwriting is masterful and the songs are tight and fun” – The Blood Shed

“VIATHYN play majestic epic progressive power metal, with a tinge of folk metal, prog rock and with a slight sprinkling of thrash added to the mix for good measure” – All About The Rock

“Second on the album is “The Coachman”, which was released a few weeks ago. Hands down, my favorite song on this album. I always love a band that has a story-line within the song, and even from the start the lyrics are superb. Vocalist Tomislav Crnkovic has one of the smoothest and grooviest melodic lines I have heard from a Canadian band, he’s got the highs that can scare a cat – and he’s got a metal as fuck name.” – Morning Metal – CKCU 93.1 FM (Ottawa)

“Viathyn executes each song perfectly, on game and completely in your face. The production quality on this album is excellent, which I believe was done at Perfect Fifth Studios – one of Calgary’s premier metal recording studios…The songwriting on this album, especially this track (Cynosure), proves that this band pays attention to what they’re doing and how well they want to the overall vibe to leave on you.” – Ottawa Showbox

“Cynosure sees Viathyn move from a solid foundation to having released a mature batch of power metal songs that meet or exceed my (very high) expectations for front line power metal veterans like Labyrinth, Orden Ogan, and DGM. I give this album an extremely high recommendation to those that like heavy, fast power metal with extremely satisfying twists and quirks. The unparalleled lyricism: often dark, sometimes abstract, and always very vivid, is bound to appeal to progressive fans as well. You just can’t lose with this one.” – Black Wind Metal

“Viathyn advances the progressive elements of metal music gracefully articulating the acoustic canvas with intense rhythm, accentuated with electrical precision, weaving a spirited discography of ageless compositions.” – Metal Canvas – CHUO 89.1 FM (Ottawa)

“Canada’s Viathyn play a hybrid of melodic, heavy progressive metal with hints of classical elements thrown in for good measure.

“Cynosure” is an amalgamation of all the best elements taken from progressive metal, heavy metal, classical influences within their guitar leads and playing. Their clean vocals, with the occasional rough vocals on few of the songs definitely brings out this quartet’s total musical essence on their newest CD “Cynosure”. There is not one dull moment on this grandiose produced album (it sounds very big in the production and mix), which feels like you’re experiencing this band in a live setting. They’re a four-piece group, but certainly sound like a ten member band, with their whole slew of playing styles and varied musical influences.” – Explicitly Intense

“it becomes clear these are people who have not only mastered their instruments but also have a way above average sense of music.” – Lords of Metal

“Part of what makes “Cynosure” such an interesting listen is that it draws influence from a variety of sources.” – Skull Fracturing Metal

BornBroken‘s debut album ‘The Healing Powers of Hate’ was released in June 2013. The album was fan voted as Album of The Week (June 10th) on Revolver Magazine, along with debuting #8 on Canadian College Loud Charts, plus being named one of the best unsigned Heavy Metal Bands for June 2013 by Drago’s Dungeon on About.com – Heavy Metal. They have also received great admiration from Yell Magazine! quoting ‘This is a debut metal album of epic proportions. If it’s not the Canadian metal album of the year, it’s certainly in the running for Canadian debut metal album.’ and TheFrontRowReport.com quoting ‘BornBroken may be the best metal band you probably haven’t heard of. Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken.’.

About:

BornBroken was formed with one simple mission in mind: Help the masses find a voice, a face, an “X” that marks the spot through the sounds of beating skins, metal strings and broken chords.

After months of writing and hours spent in the studio, BornBroken managed to take every emotion they felt, put it to music, build off of past battle scars and create a record where listeners will feel they are part of the storyline.

On their debut album, The Healing Powers of Hate, BornBroken play out not only what life has given them but also what they want to give back: truth, integrity, perseverance, loyalty and faith in humanity’s struggle for equality.
