NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 1, 2018

For fans of In Flames, Soilwork, Trivium

ATRIA Unleash New Video “Someone With Me”; Debut EP “New World Nightmare” Out Nov. 16th

L-R – Tim Ross (Guitar), Brent Westmoreland (Bass), Tom Emmans (Vocals), Matt McGuire (Drums), and Travis McGinnis (Guitar)

Playing heavy, yet catchy music with prime influences including Lamb of God, Soilwork, Tool and Slipknot, Canadian anthemic metal band ATRIA will be unleashing their debut EP “New World Nightmare” on November 16th.

The debut release for the band is just a teaser of what is to be expected from them. Not just sticking with the usual heavy formula of the genre, they also add plenty of synth and orchestral parts and experiment with varying degrees of technicality over four introductory tracks.

Vocalist Tom Emmans expands on his vision for the band’s direction:

“I’ve always been a fan of catchy choruses. I like when bands can bring something dark and heavy, but also give me something to sing along to. We’ve tried to do that with our new single and I think we’ve accomplished that. Also the lyrics have a great deal of depth and personal meaning to them. The rest of the album is much heavier but there are still plenty of good hooks worked in there.”

Their new music video for that single “Someone With Me” can be viewed at the following link on Spaceuntravel Youtube channel:

Even as a relatively new band, ATRIA is finding their place in the Canadian underground scene and making their name known among a wide variety of metal fans.

BIO:
Founded by Tom Emmans (vocals) and Tim Ross (guitar) in August of 2017, ATRIA takes its name from a music venue in a nearby city at which Emmans and Ross played their first gig at with a different band. The experiences had at that place resonated enough to be cemented as the band’s moniker. Eventually they recruited Matt McGuire (drummer), Brent Westmoreland (bass) and Travis McGinnis (guitar) to fill out the lineup and have played a handful of shows and festivals with a great response and are hungry for more. The debut release for the band, New World Nightmare EP, is due November 16th, 2018. Even as a relatively new band, Atria is finding their place in the Canadian underground scene and making their name known amongst a wide variety of metal fans.

Vancouver progressive metal band KOSM is proud to announce they will be releasing their debut album “Cosmonaut” on November 16th, 2018. Combining influences from Tool, Mastodon, The Agonist, Gojira and A Perfect Circle; their sound is dynamic and unquestionably lethal. Since their induction in 2016, they have been making their mark in Vancouver’s metal scene and beyond with cover videos, and most recently with two singles “Ancient Heart” and “Space Mead”. “Cosmonaut” is an LP loosely based on themes from the H.P. Lovecraft and other with each song meant to walk the listener through a story from beginning to end. With even more material in the world and future albums planned, KOSM summons you to join them on this journey full of experimental and progressive metal.

The band explains:

“Cosmonaut is a concept album loosely based on the weird-fiction of HP Lovecraft, and borrowing concepts from the science-fiction of Frank Herbert, and Roger Zelazny. The album follows a cosmonaut on a cosmic journey through time and space; from the earthly confines of mortal life, to ascendancy as an immaterial and omnipotent being. The cosmonaut’s journey is essentially symbolic, serving as a commentary on the human experience: a journey from confusion and anger, to transcendence and self-understanding.”

KOSM’s current singles “Ancient Heart” and “Space Mead” are available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play.

For those in the Vancouver area, KOSM will be hosting their CD release concert at Pub 340 on November 17th with local support from OmnisighT, Truent, and Opus Arise. Event info here.

“The song (Ancient Heart) itself, which swings between some appetizingly heavy progressive riffs and aggressive growls and more melodic moments (with clean singing behind them). A tough band to place in that regard, but one certainly worth seeking out as they continue to expand their sound.” – DeadRhetoric

0 Montreal’s FRACTAL CYPHER Unveil Track Listing & Artwork For “Prelude To An Impending Outcome”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 25, 2018

For fans of Symphony X, Dream Theater, Scar Symmetry, Sonata Arctica, Kamelot

Montreal’s FRACTAL CYPHER Unveil Track Listing & Artwork For “Prelude To An Impending Outcome”

New Mini-Album Promises A “Roller Coaster of Genres”

Montreal prog quartet FRACTAL CYPHER are getting ready to release their mini-album “Prelude To An Impending Outcome” in November and have just unveiled the artwork and the track listing. This 4 song mini-album promises to be a roller coaster of genres across completely different sounding songs with intimate lyrics influenced by personal experiences.

“Prelude To An Impending Outcome is a mini album of 4 songs that are completely different from one to another to create a maximum roller coaster effect and make it non linear and interesting to listen to. The clash of style is more important and more obvious than our previous album, but the songs have gained in maturity in term of songwriting and sound. The vibe of this album is really more intimate, due to the lyrics and the overall ambiance/universe of the songs. The melodic side of the band is still really present, offering catchy vocal lines and outstanding solos all over the songs.” – FRACTAL CYPHER

Each track has a different prominent genre influence from power ballad, blues, djent and jazz with the band’s heavy and melodic base as an anchor. The album artwork was done by Silent Q Design out of Montreal and foreshadows the moody and existential prog metal that lies within. Although this album is more intimate with different textures and influences, the reception to its predecessor should be a prime indication of the talents of FRACTAL CYPHER; this next release is sure to be a masterwork.

Track Listing:
1. Coming Back To Life (10:13)
2. The Grandeur Of It All (6:52)
3. From The Above And To The Stars (8:04)
4. Red Lady (9:30)
Mini-Album Length: 34:30

“Prelude To An Impending Outcome” will be self released on November 8th 2018.

BIO:

Fractal Cypher exists to captivate audiences with progressive instrumentals that cut through the mesmerizing vocals and provide a new perspective on each listen. Straight out of the heart of Canada’s metal scene, these Montreal metallers constantly shift their compositions with seamless transitions and theatrical interludes to keep audiences on their toes.

Since 2014, Simon Lavoie (vocals), Ludovick Daoust (keyboard), Vincent Bruneau (guitar), Tommy Fradette (bass) and Steven Cope (drums) have been committed to a constant evolution; the powerful quintet is just as versatile in their music as they are in their musical interests, darting between djent and classic rock whilst anchoring on a power and death metal core.

Their debut album ‘The Human Paradox’ was released in September of 2016, with the follow up mini-album ‘Prelude To An Impending Outcome’ slated to be revealed in November of 2018.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 5, 2018

JEZEBEL SLADE (formerly known as Van Halst) Announce Name Change & Sexy Debut Single “Pickled Punks” Coming Soon!

Upcoming Debut Album Produced By Arnold Lanni (Finger Eleven, Our Lady Peace) + Features Guests Bif Naked And More!

Canadian hard rockers, JEZEBEL SLADE, who has been performing as Van Halst for years, has taken on a new creative direction, and with it comes the new name and the promise of new music. Ringleader and vocalist Kami further explains the redirection:

“Half way through the new album we realized that Van Halst didn’t really fit anymore. The original intention was to title the new album “Jezebel” but throughout the recording process the music started taking on a theatrical life of its own so I wanted a name to reflect the new sound. While in University, I remember studying Jezebel and feeling empowered- she was strong, confident, seductive and willful. Even in her death she was proud. Yet there was something sinful about Jezebel and she did a lot of evil things- she was a living juxtaposition. I feel the music business is like that- it can be beautiful and inspiring yet evil and sinister. So Jezebel was a perfect fit for me, but in order to create this new alter ego I needed a new last name. Slade came from my love of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She slayed demons both physical and metaphorical so I wanted to play on that thus, Jezebel Slade.”

The debut single “Pickled Punks” will be the first of many the band has planned for release and it is expected out later in 2018. This dark and horrific tune will come with a sexy, gothic and evil music video and will be the first glimpse as to what JEZEBEL SLADE has to offer the audience.

Check out their teaser at the following link:

Summarized as dark and theatrical hard rock, JEZEBEL SLADE follows the artistic stylings of Lady Gaga albeit with a metal twist and brews it together with influences drawn from Judas Priest to produce an entertaining and devilish live spectacle known as “Sinner’s Cabaret”. The “Sinner’s Cabaret” will focus equally on the music and the performance with JEZEBEL SLADE planning to tour with freak shows, circuses and burlesque performers.

Looking in to the crystal ball the future looks bright for this troupe of performers with a flurry of singles to be released and extensive touring plans in the works. Their forthcoming self-titled debut album was co-written and produced by diamond award winning producer Arnold Lanni plus features guest appearances by Bif Naked and more.

“Power metal kings, Songs about sci-fi movies, What more do you need? ” – Metal Injection

“It’s the rare power metal record where the artist is as confident in handling its subtle, reserved material as it is its neck-thrashing, riff-centric centerpieces, and Dire Peril manages both aesthetics with more care than the bulk of bands in its genre. As far as straightforward power metal goes, this may well be the very best that 2018 has to offer. ” – Angry Metal Guy

“a sci-fi infused power metal monster. Ashcraft adds a more galloping, Iced Earth, huge and grand guitar riffing to the mix and of course Yelland’s vocals are phenomenal.” – Metal Marks The Spot

” Dire Peril’s first full-length album is an excellent display of American power metal.”  – Indy Metal Vault

“Bulletproof songwriting, soaring vocals, tremendous solos, exceptional song-to-song variety, and an uncanny ability to be both a little bit tongue-in-cheek and deadly serious at the same time: what in the goddamn hell more could you ask for? This is a marvelous album. ” – Your Last Rites

“this may well be the best Power Metal has to offer in 2018.” – Metal-Temple

“With their full-length debut, The Extraterrestrial Compendium, they have gone above and beyond my expectations, producing one of the best power metal albums of the year, which manages to be both very dynamic and consistently engaging throughout. I especially recommend it for fans of the harder hitting, more guitar driven side of power metal, as there’s a ton of thrash influence here, as well as a fair bit of classic heavy metal and some slight prog leanings. Everything is done well, with vocalist John Yelland giving the best performance of his career, and overall, it’s an amazing album from start to finish.” – My Global Mind

““in its conceptual and musical depth, Dire Peril’s The Extraterrestrial Compendium is rather epic and entertaining guitar-forward power metal…power metal and sci-fi go together like beer and pizza. Get it. You won’t be disappointed.” – Dangerdog Music Reviews

“DIRE PERIL prove that America still has great talent in the Power Metal realm” – Metal-Temple.com

“a wonderful album that will take you on an intergalactic journey through many popular sci fi movies. It is an album that is full of melodic vocals and kick ass guitars. ” – Baby Dolls and Razor Blades

SHORT BIO:

Dire Peril was an idea that goes as far back as Jason Ashcraft’s (guitars, bass) high school years. The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since.

Originally formed in 2009, the band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. In 2015, feeling like things just weren’t as they should be, Ashcraft decided to take a step back and take a hard look at where the band was headed.

Inspired by all manner of science fiction, especially classic sci-fi movies, Dire Peril regrouped as a double piece; Ashcraft was joined by singer John Yelland, and together they began working on the debut album titled “The Extraterrestrial Compendium,” set for release on November 9, 2018. Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including an upcoming North American tour with Seven Kingdoms allowing the American sci-fi power metal band to reach its final form and share their dark, aggressive adventure with the masses.

The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since. Originally formed in 2009 as the name under which Ashcraft used to perform covers, the band wouldn’t see it’s true form until around 2012, when Jason joined forces with the Bay Area powerhouse vocalist Norman Skinner.

The band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including large North American tours with Sirenia and Unleash the Archers plus most recently supporting Seven Kingdoms this coming November on select USA tour dates. L-R – Greg Gallagher – Lead/Rhythm Guitar, Sean De Faria – Bass, Graham Daniel Gaudreault – Vocals, Angelo Giammattolo – Drums, Lenny Chiasson – Lead/Rhythm Guitar

Toronto heavy-hitters MY HOLLOW are premiering their new sound in their lyric video for “And Now We Fall” via Bravewords.com. This single is laying the foundation for their new style going forward, since their full-length “On Borrowed Time” (2015). It gives fans a sense of their songwriting, lyrics, and anticipated heaviness for the band in their thematic video by Gabe B. at P.S. Studios. The stand alone track will “leave you hollow, and wanting more,” comments guitarist Greg Gallagher.

Watch “And Now We Fall” at the following link: http://bravewords.com/news/exclusive-my-hollow-premiere-and-now-we-fall-lyric-video

Gallagher adds:

“Our new single “And Now We Fall” has a lot a catchy riffs, heavy breakdowns and a more mature feel to the music than previous releases. We’ve been gearing more towards songwriting that is more evolved (than our back catalog) and really focusing on taking the listener to new places, without losing our initial passion and signature sound.”

Since their conception MY HOLLOW have managed to score opening slots with The Agonist, Cryptopsy, Threat Signal, Beneath The Massacre, in addition to earning a position at the 2013 Wacken Metal Battle Canada finals. The five piece will be wrapping up recording and preparing for a future album release as a follow up to their previous full-length in 2015.

About:

MY HOLLOW crafts intense riffs and passages seamlessly giving way to lower, heavier parts in a lock-up, chunked out style with mutes leaving empty space in an otherwise chaotic sequence. Based out of the Toronto area, The band boasts a cast of independent metal journeymen, hungry to be heavier, tighter, and more engaging with every song. They strive to become an ever-present staple in the Canadian and global metal scene and will stop at nothing to leave you hollow, and wanting more.

Spawned in the Toronto murk in 2015, CREATURES is a group effort with a long history that intertwines the lives of numerous local bands to summon a truly devastating soundscape of unbridled chaos. Inspired by bands such as Necrophagist, Despised Icon and Thy Art Is Murder, CREATURES is a 5 piece band playing heavy and catchy deathcore, taking intense sounds and mixing in small elements of extreme and black metal.

Almost immediately after forming, CREATURES released a 4 track self-titled EP. A varied sampling of the musical talents from the band helped them gain the interest of fans in the local scene and they played several shows with great reception. Taking great pride in live performances, Creatures embodies all the aspects of showmanship with high energy and audience involvement.

Three years later, in 2018, they’re set to unleash their second offering the “II” EP unto the world through their own independent label Old Haunt Records on July 20th. The songs reach into a large porcelain cup of topics and instead of just merely presenting their themes to their listeners, CREATURES smashes the cup in their faces, making sure their themes cut deep and stay with the listeners. Whether they are lyrics about the futility of existence with a cartoon metaphor, or the bond of brotherhood within an intense party setting, there is a message for everyone to latch onto. Regardless, the songs are a visceral insight into the band’s life.

“This year’s American battles witnessed Wacken Metal Battle USA’s expansion to more cities, more bands and more metal! I’m always excited to see who will be the king of the ring from all the bands participating. I want to thank all the bands for entering and performing in the competition, all the judges and city promoters plus all our partners that helped spread the word and making our 2nd year an amazing event. We’re looking forward to next year and sending more independent American metal to Wacken!”

It’s coming down to the wire for this year’s 2018 Wacken Metal Battle Canada national final, where one band will be crowned Canadian champion and represent the nation at the international metal battle at the world’s largest metal festival Wacken Open Air in Germany. For this year’s 5th national final, WMBC organizer JJ Tartaglia, whom also runs Boonsdale Records is bringing together two passions as one at the 2nd annual Boonsdale Fest.

Tartaglia comments:

“This is all part of the new strategy to minimize travel for the Metal Battle finalists and to have them play to a packed venue. I’m happy to say that Boonsdale Fest 2018 is looking very promising. The idea is to keep growing it year after year and eventually move it to an outdoor location. We want to fill the gap of an open air metal festival in Toronto and we want it to have some of that spirit of Wacken!”

This year’s 2018 Boonsdale Fest will be held on June 9th at the Opera House in Toronto, ON and will feature bands Borealis, Operus, Mokomokai, Pressive, Hammerdrone (WMBC Western finalist) and Centuries of Decay (WMBC Eastern finalist).
