Montreal, QC – September 5, 2018

JEZEBEL SLADE (formerly known as Van Halst) Announce Name Change & Sexy Debut Single “Pickled Punks” Coming Soon!

Upcoming Debut Album Produced By Arnold Lanni (Finger Eleven, Our Lady Peace) + Features Guests Bif Naked And More!

Canadian hard rockers, JEZEBEL SLADE, who has been performing as Van Halst for years, has taken on a new creative direction, and with it comes the new name and the promise of new music. Ringleader and vocalist Kami further explains the redirection:

“Half way through the new album we realized that Van Halst didn’t really fit anymore. The original intention was to title the new album “Jezebel” but throughout the recording process the music started taking on a theatrical life of its own so I wanted a name to reflect the new sound. While in University, I remember studying Jezebel and feeling empowered- she was strong, confident, seductive and willful. Even in her death she was proud. Yet there was something sinful about Jezebel and she did a lot of evil things- she was a living juxtaposition. I feel the music business is like that- it can be beautiful and inspiring yet evil and sinister. So Jezebel was a perfect fit for me, but in order to create this new alter ego I needed a new last name. Slade came from my love of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She slayed demons both physical and metaphorical so I wanted to play on that thus, Jezebel Slade.”

The debut single “Pickled Punks” will be the first of many the band has planned for release and it is expected out later in 2018. This dark and horrific tune will come with a sexy, gothic and evil music video and will be the first glimpse as to what JEZEBEL SLADE has to offer the audience.

Check out their teaser at the following link:

Summarized as dark and theatrical hard rock, JEZEBEL SLADE follows the artistic stylings of Lady Gaga albeit with a metal twist and brews it together with influences drawn from Judas Priest to produce an entertaining and devilish live spectacle known as “Sinner’s Cabaret”. The “Sinner’s Cabaret” will focus equally on the music and the performance with JEZEBEL SLADE planning to tour with freak shows, circuses and burlesque performers.

Looking in to the crystal ball the future looks bright for this troupe of performers with a flurry of singles to be released and extensive touring plans in the works. Their forthcoming self-titled debut album was co-written and produced by diamond award winning producer Arnold Lanni plus features guest appearances by Bif Naked and more.

“Power metal kings, Songs about sci-fi movies, What more do you need? ” – Metal Injection

“It’s the rare power metal record where the artist is as confident in handling its subtle, reserved material as it is its neck-thrashing, riff-centric centerpieces, and Dire Peril manages both aesthetics with more care than the bulk of bands in its genre. As far as straightforward power metal goes, this may well be the very best that 2018 has to offer. ” – Angry Metal Guy

“a sci-fi infused power metal monster. Ashcraft adds a more galloping, Iced Earth, huge and grand guitar riffing to the mix and of course Yelland’s vocals are phenomenal.” – Metal Marks The Spot

” Dire Peril’s first full-length album is an excellent display of American power metal.”  – Indy Metal Vault

“Bulletproof songwriting, soaring vocals, tremendous solos, exceptional song-to-song variety, and an uncanny ability to be both a little bit tongue-in-cheek and deadly serious at the same time: what in the goddamn hell more could you ask for? This is a marvelous album. ” – Your Last Rites

“this may well be the best Power Metal has to offer in 2018.” – Metal-Temple

“With their full-length debut, The Extraterrestrial Compendium, they have gone above and beyond my expectations, producing one of the best power metal albums of the year, which manages to be both very dynamic and consistently engaging throughout. I especially recommend it for fans of the harder hitting, more guitar driven side of power metal, as there’s a ton of thrash influence here, as well as a fair bit of classic heavy metal and some slight prog leanings. Everything is done well, with vocalist John Yelland giving the best performance of his career, and overall, it’s an amazing album from start to finish.” – My Global Mind

““in its conceptual and musical depth, Dire Peril’s The Extraterrestrial Compendium is rather epic and entertaining guitar-forward power metal…power metal and sci-fi go together like beer and pizza. Get it. You won’t be disappointed.” – Dangerdog Music Reviews

“DIRE PERIL prove that America still has great talent in the Power Metal realm” – Metal-Temple.com

“a wonderful album that will take you on an intergalactic journey through many popular sci fi movies. It is an album that is full of melodic vocals and kick ass guitars. ” – Baby Dolls and Razor Blades

SHORT BIO:

Dire Peril was an idea that goes as far back as Jason Ashcraft’s (guitars, bass) high school years. The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since.

Originally formed in 2009, the band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. In 2015, feeling like things just weren’t as they should be, Ashcraft decided to take a step back and take a hard look at where the band was headed.

Inspired by all manner of science fiction, especially classic sci-fi movies, Dire Peril regrouped as a double piece; Ashcraft was joined by singer John Yelland, and together they began working on the debut album titled “The Extraterrestrial Compendium,” set for release on November 9, 2018. Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including an upcoming North American tour with Seven Kingdoms allowing the American sci-fi power metal band to reach its final form and share their dark, aggressive adventure with the masses.

The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since. Originally formed in 2009 as the name under which Ashcraft used to perform covers, the band wouldn’t see it’s true form until around 2012, when Jason joined forces with the Bay Area powerhouse vocalist Norman Skinner.

The band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. ‘The Extraterrestrial Compendium’ bases each one of its 12 songs on classic sci-fi movies including Predator, Total Recall, Starship Troopers, and E.T. and features guests Brittany Slayes (Unleash the Archers) and Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon).

Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including large North American tours with Sirenia and Unleash the Archers plus most recently supporting Seven Kingdoms this coming November on select USA tour dates. The American sci-fi power metal band is close to reaching its final form and is now ready to share their dark, aggressive adventure with the masses.

Toronto heavy-hitters MY HOLLOW are premiering their new sound in their lyric video for “And Now We Fall” via Bravewords.com. This single is laying the foundation for their new style going forward, since their full-length “On Borrowed Time” (2015). It gives fans a sense of their songwriting, lyrics, and anticipated heaviness for the band in their thematic video by Gabe B. at P.S. Studios. The stand alone track will “leave you hollow, and wanting more,” comments guitarist Greg Gallagher.

Watch “And Now We Fall” at the following link: http://bravewords.com/news/exclusive-my-hollow-premiere-and-now-we-fall-lyric-video

Gallagher adds:

“Our new single “And Now We Fall” has a lot a catchy riffs, heavy breakdowns and a more mature feel to the music than previous releases. We’ve been gearing more towards songwriting that is more evolved (than our back catalog) and really focusing on taking the listener to new places, without losing our initial passion and signature sound.”

Since their conception MY HOLLOW have managed to score opening slots with The Agonist, Cryptopsy, Threat Signal, Beneath The Massacre, in addition to earning a position at the 2013 Wacken Metal Battle Canada finals. The five piece will be wrapping up recording and preparing for a future album release as a follow up to their previous full-length in 2015.

About:

MY HOLLOW crafts intense riffs and passages seamlessly giving way to lower, heavier parts in a lock-up, chunked out style with mutes leaving empty space in an otherwise chaotic sequence. Based out of the Toronto area, The band boasts a cast of independent metal journeymen, hungry to be heavier, tighter, and more engaging with every song. They strive to become an ever-present staple in the Canadian and global metal scene and will stop at nothing to leave you hollow, and wanting more.

Spawned in the Toronto murk in 2015, CREATURES is a group effort with a long history that intertwines the lives of numerous local bands to summon a truly devastating soundscape of unbridled chaos. Inspired by bands such as Necrophagist, Despised Icon and Thy Art Is Murder, CREATURES is a 5 piece band playing heavy and catchy deathcore, taking intense sounds and mixing in small elements of extreme and black metal.

Almost immediately after forming, CREATURES released a 4 track self-titled EP. A varied sampling of the musical talents from the band helped them gain the interest of fans in the local scene and they played several shows with great reception. Taking great pride in live performances, Creatures embodies all the aspects of showmanship with high energy and audience involvement.

Three years later, in 2018, they’re set to unleash their second offering the “II” EP unto the world through their own independent label Old Haunt Records on July 20th. The songs reach into a large porcelain cup of topics and instead of just merely presenting their themes to their listeners, CREATURES smashes the cup in their faces, making sure their themes cut deep and stay with the listeners. Whether they are lyrics about the futility of existence with a cartoon metaphor, or the bond of brotherhood within an intense party setting, there is a message for everyone to latch onto. Regardless, the songs are a visceral insight into the band’s life.

It’s coming down to the wire for this year’s 2018 Wacken Metal Battle Canada national final, where one band will be crowned Canadian champion and represent the nation at the international metal battle at the world’s largest metal festival Wacken Open Air in Germany. For this year’s 5th national final, WMBC organizer JJ Tartaglia, whom also runs Boonsdale Records is bringing together two passions as one at the 2nd annual Boonsdale Fest.

Tartaglia comments:

“This is all part of the new strategy to minimize travel for the Metal Battle finalists and to have them play to a packed venue. I’m happy to say that Boonsdale Fest 2018 is looking very promising. The idea is to keep growing it year after year and eventually move it to an outdoor location. We want to fill the gap of an open air metal festival in Toronto and we want it to have some of that spirit of Wacken!”

This year’s 2018 Boonsdale Fest will be held on June 9th at the Opera House in Toronto, ON and will feature bands Borealis, Operus, Mokomokai, Pressive, Hammerdrone (WMBC Western finalist) and Centuries of Decay (WMBC Eastern finalist).

KOSM – Cosmonaut (LP) (2018)

For fans of Tool, Mastodon, Gojira, The Agonist, Jinjer

Release Date: November 16, 2018

Distribution: Distro Kid

kosmband.com | Facebook | Youtube | Reverbnation | Instagram | Twitter

Bandcamp | iTunes | Spotify | Amazon | Google Play | Deezer

“KOSM delivers the goods while touching bases in the same ballpark as TOOL, MASTODON and PERIPHERY, (they’ve previously covered Mastodons “Blood and Thunder”) with an emphasis on plenty of space rock intermissions” – Powerplay Magazine

“Remember when Mastodon were special, circa Leviathan, Blood Mountain and Crack The Skye, before that vision was lost? […] Well, Kosm are like Mastodon in those days.” – Hellbound.ca

“KOSM does a solid job of mixing technicality, mood and groove. […] They’re a well versed band with all kinds of moods and changes engaging your ears every split second.” – Technical Music Review

“Vancouver’s KOSM kick the door in with Cosmonaut, their monstrous full-length debut. Brace yourself for a satisfying trip through an exciting mountain range of cascading, meaty riffs, swelling rises and heady drops, all led by the powerful, soaring vocals of the dynamic Jessie Grace. ” – Beatroute BC

“KOSM cite Tool, Gojira and Mastodon as three of their main influences, and all three can be heard loud and clear on their new album, Cosmonaut. The technical, progressive musicianship of Tool meets the crushing grooves and rhythmic vocals of Gojira, and Mastodon’s ear for riffy, thunderous prog are all present on Cosmonaut, which features some of the most technical metal I’ve heard this year outside of, you know, technical death metal. ” – Decibel Magazine

“Lovecraftian progressive metal is on the table for Kosm’s debut. While bands like Mastodon and Tool come to mind in the way that the guitars are maneuvering around, limiting the band in that manner downplays what they are trying to do. There are so many different textures and flavors along the way it is really hard to get a grasp on what best defines them. But that’s perfectly okay, and keeps Cosmonaut interesting for its 66-minute runtime. The concept to it all keeps it on the rails while exploring a variety of emotions and levels of heaviness (including some that aren’t so heavy). There’s loads of potential here for the band to experiment with in future offerings. ” – Dead Rhetoric

“KOSM definitely show enough potential with this release to be a band that should be on your scopes.” – Noizze UK

KOSM is a progressive metal band hailing from Vancouver BC, Canada. Combining influences from Mastodon, Tool and Gojira; their sound is dynamic and unquestionably lethal. Since their induction in 2016, they have been making their mark in Vancouver’s metal scene as an absolute force to be reckoned with.

The origin of the band starts with Mike Slater (guitars) and Erik Leonhard (guitars) as a casual project, and they were quickly joined by Jessie Grace (vocals), Sterling Paterson (drums) and Michael Mastracci (bass) for some jolly cooperation. Swiftly, like hunters, they took off from there and released two singles; including the well received “Ancient Heart” music video. Familiar to members of the progressive metal covenant, and playing with themes from the H.P. Lovecraft and Bloodborne universes; KOSM is quite unique and authentically its own being. Their next release “Cosmonaut” is an LP loosely based on the Lovecraftian myth of Cthulhu and each song is meant to walk the listener through a story from beginning to end.

With even more material in the world and future albums planned, KOSM summons you to join them on this journey full of experimental and progressive metal.

About:

Vancouver, BC’s ANARCHEON was formed in 2015 and features vocalist Kaija Kinney, founder of Metalocalypstick Fest, the BC metal fest celebrating women in metal, along with guitarist Clayton Bach, bassist Sylvain Maltais and drummer Steve “Machine” Richardo (ex-Messiah, ex-Green Jellÿ). With a band name playing off the word Anarchy, ANARCHEON is more of a Frankenstein of their various influences. Demonstrating shemonic screams, catchy riffs and energetic heavy bass leads, the band has unleashed a three track demo and single “Super Nova”, which is will be followed by an EP in October 2017 and full length album for 2018.

Vocalist Kaija Kinney comments:

“The EP has many different types of lyrics but to summarize I would say its about coming clean and empowering yourself as a true genuine person with a lot of life struggles with depression. You will also hear the evolution of our sound mostly reflects on the different guitar players we’ve had with a slightly darker twist now with bass heavy Iron Maiden type leads.”

All tracks previously released by ANARCHEON are available for free download via their Soundcloud here.

ANARCHEON has shared the stage with multiple bands from the Western Canadian metal scene and beyond such as Nervosa (Napalm Records), Mortillery (Napalm Records, Scythia, Van Halst, Dead Asylum and more.
