“Get down with the neck-snapping “Wings of Death.” It’s a Canuck groove-metal gem.” – Dead Rhetoric

“This is not a one-dimensional album that’s easily described. Each song has its own style and flavour, mixing different styles together with well-deserved contempt for genre restrictions and constraints. Centuries of Decay have crafted a modern extreme metal release that effectively combines these different strains of metal into something all of their own.” – Wonderbox Metal

“A concept record regarding the changing times & how life depends on centuries of decay, the ten minute self-titled opening song showcases melodic metal with deep oceans of imagination. Haunting but with a real sense of beauty, the guitar melody alongside a fascinating drum beat is such an appealing sound. A sound that suddenly takes on a darker tone, upping the heaviness & dealing out an absolutely stunning chugging guitar attack. There is no arguing with that start, absolutely mesmerizing.” –  Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“This is a strong debut for the band and they have laid their vision for their craft nicely.” – Metal-Temple

“Up next was Centuries Of Decay, who gave us some atmospheric death metal. Devin Doucette and Rob McAllister shared guitar and vocal duties. Devin sang lead and handled a chunk of the brutal vocals but they gave a few great harmonized melodic vocals. Their last song had an additive time signature, which is something that really catches my attention as a musician.” – Metal Master Kingdom (Live Review Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2016 – Toronto)

Inspired By Soviet Era Posters, RED CAIN Share Lyric Video “All Is Violence” via MetalMasterKingdom

Debut Album “Kindred: Act I” Out Now

Performing On Vancouver’s Hyperspace Metal Festival April 27th

Inspired by Soviet-era posters, Calgary’s RED CAIN have put together a visually thrilling lyric video for their track “All Is Violence” off their debut album “Kindred: Act I”released this past March.

Teaming up with MetalMasterKingdom, the band is premiering the video at the following link: https://www.metalmasterkingdom.com/home/red-cain-premiere-lyric-video-for-all-is-violence

Vocalist Evgeniy Zayarny adds:

“Visually inspired by Soviet propaganda posters, with images brilliantly designed by Igor Zayarny, ‘All Is Violence’ is a lethal offensive tying pagan Russian conceptions of righteous and sinful violence as championed by pagan gods Veles and Morana to an examination of violence in the modern era, backed by thunderous drums and downtuned, aggressive guitar work. The lyric video doubles as an introduction to individual Red Cain band members, with individual and group photos taken by Quay Evano. Fire, reload, step forward, and wrestle with your bestial nature because -‘All Is Violence’.”

RED CAIN first full-length “Kindred: Act I” was produced by Sascha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) with the band at Perfect Filth Studios and features guests Kobra Paige (Kobra And The Lotus), Daniel Louden (Benevolent Like Quietus) and guitarist Tyler Corbett. The album’s artwork was done by Timur Khabirov with cover design by Igor Zayarny.

The band has shared a few other videos in support of the debut album. Their music video for “Zero” recently won the Award of Recognition in the Best Music Video category at the Accolade Global Film Competition in Los Angeles.

Music Video – “Snakebouquet” – https://youtu.be/Lk9Wi2lzbW0

Born out of the emerging metal scene of Calgary, AB, RED CAIN is a modern melodic metal project with European roots. With intricate songwriting, a heavy yet melodic feel reminiscent of progressive acts, and eerie ambient elements, RED CAIN champion a fluid, dynamic, and unique musical style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience. Listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Draconian, Marilyn Manson, whipped into a venomous new shape.

“Kindred: Act I” is available on Bandcamp here, iTunes, CD Baby, Spotify.

In additional news, RED CAIN will be performing on this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC for the second night of the event on April 27th at the Rickshaw Theatre alongside Crimson Shadows, Judicator and many more. Full details and line up can be found here.

“Overall, this was a very original album. I find it very difficult to locate a counterpart for RED CAIN, as they have clearly created their own sound in the genre. What we have here is a two headed beast of sad and melancholy music on one side and angry and raging music on the other. The two combine somewhere in the middle with flair for the dramatic and impassioned vocals. This is definitely worth your time if you are looking for something off the beaten path.” – Metal Temple

“Symphonic progressive metal with alternative and gothic nuances – Red Cain are well on their way to establishing new territory in story telling and musical match-ups. Kindred: Act I represents a fine opening album for these Canadians, and should lend itself well to various multi-media opportunities for live show and film options. The best records connect on a mind, body, and spirit level – and this will be one that should be in the conversation for visionary, forward-thinking effort, proving the ink is not dry on what metal can bring to the table for innovation.” – Dead Rhetoric

“Kindred: Act I is all about raw and unbridled metal power. A thoughtful brand of metal that – for once – does not base itself on mindless growling about the stage along normal lines of metal conduct. Instead they rip the established status quo to pieces and attack with a very unusual metal dish. One that comes with a distinct groove to boot… a very tasty fusion of Progressive and Power Metal that we have rarely seen to date. A metal dish best consumed red-hot. Have some, you will not regret it.” – Rock Music Raider

“I couldn’t be more impressed with this band and album from the opening track “Snake Bouquet” to the last track “Wing Of The Crow” which is an awesome closing track with guest vocals from Kobra Paige of Kobra and The Lotus. This album takes you on an epic and melodic journey, I feel fans of bands from Avatar to Kamelot to Marilyn Manson and anything in between will really love this album.” – Crannk
“Red Cain have produced a very awesome album. It sounds and looks very professional, has great riffs and epic melodies. Keep an eye on these guys, they will come very far.” – Lyrical Spell Magazine

STRIKER Announces North American Tour Dates w/ Holy Grail, Bewitcher

Music Video “Head First”

Sixth Studio Album “Play To Win” Out Now!

Edmonton’s STRIKER will be hitting the road this summer for the ‘Deadly Ripping North American Tour’ with Holy Grail and Bewitcher. The 21 date tour will kick off in Phoenix, AZ on July 12th and wrap up in Los Angeles on August 4th (dates listed below). STRIKER is touring in support of their sixth studio album “Play To Win” released this past October via their independent label Record Breaking Records.

The band comments:

“Hitting the road with our brothers of shred Holy Grail this summer to bring our new album ‘Play to Win’ to fans across North America! This is the summer of the Road Dogs, and we will be doing many more shows across North America and the rest of the world before it’s all said and done. There’s never been a better time to headbang in the front row!”

Champions in blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Canadian shredders STRIKER‘s sixth studio album “Play To Win” features 10 fist pounding shredtacular anthems produced by the band plus mixed and mastered by Hendrik Udd (Firewind, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, Delain). The album follows their 2017 self-titled full length that the band supported with tours across Europe and North America with Sonata Arctica, Dark Tranquility, and Warbringer along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany) and more to add to their almost 1000 shows performed in their decade-plus career. That fifth studio album also garnered them a nomination from Canada’s JUNO awards, the country’s highest music prize, along with wins at the Edmonton Music Awards and Western Canadian Awards.

Guitarist Tim Brown comments on “Play To Win”:“Play to Win: if you want to win you have to play the game. Find the rules and break them. This is our 6th album and 3rd independent release. If we followed the rules and listened to the industry people we’d have gone absolutely nowhere. Play To Win is about listening to yourself, following your own path, and playing that 5th ace hidden in your sleeve. This album is designed to light a fire under your ass and get you moving, and we made sure to get the most modern, ear melting sounds possible. It’s all about where metal is going, not where it has been, and this is our soundtrack to success.”

“Play to Win, which might be their most balanced effort yet. It’s their most catchy, too: the likelihood you’ll be singing along with every song before they finish is very, very high.” – Metal Sucks

“expertly combined killer arena rock choruses with well-done, cleaner verses.” – Metal Injection

“Six albums in six years. That is something almost unheard of, even in the modern era of production that considerably lessens the time needed to record and mix albums. Striker always seems to provide a new album right around when I start to wonder, “Hey, I wonder what Striker is up to?”. PLAY TO WIN is the band’s 6th LP and to my ears, one of their best. Rest assured, the band has not altered their sound. This is still classic metal, mixed with modern elements that continues to leave all pretenders in a cloud of choking dust.” – Metal Rules

“You can hear influences ranging from Dokken to Metallica on Play to Win, and it’s all done with masterful songwriting, performances and production. This is a slick, aggressively-mixed record that drips with excitement and replayability… Striker have produced their best record since City of Gold, and all fans of straight-up hard rock and metal need to own this album.” – Heavy Music HQ

“Striker have knocked this one out of the park and into the stratosphere. You’d be hard-pressed to find a catchier slice of fine cheddar this year, and I’d highly recommend it.” – New Noise Mag

Canada’s WEST OF HELL recently released their new album Blood Of The Infidel on April 1, 2019, which is now being supported by “The Infidels Tour” across Canada. Delivering a unique form of heavy metal with a wide range of influences from power, death and prog metal to thrash, groove and classic metal, WEST OF HELL ignores genre standards and puts their all into an insane live show.  For those who have never seen a WEST OF HELL performance, it’s not one to be missed. The combination of thrash metal riffs with modern progressive elements and power metal-esque vocals from Chris ‘The Heathen’ Valagao command the stage with a magnificent presence while literal sparks fly everywhere.

Blood of The Infidel is the band’s sophomore album, following the well-received Spiral Empire from 2012. The band’s next video ‘The Machine’ is being premiered on Decibel Magazine to follow their three videos ‘Chrome Eternal’, ‘Infidels’ and ‘Hammer and Hand’  to show fans an idea of the madness that will come from this powerhouse of a record.

Watch ‘The Machine’ at the following link: https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2019/04/10/video-premiere-west-of-hell-the-machine/

The band comments:

“The video for ‘The Machine’ is a visual interpretation of the rise of the machine brain. The band itself is digitized and become pawns of the Titan digital overlord. Chris (Heathen) Valagao along with Joseph Klymkiw produced and directed a unique vision of our cyber overlord. VR, 3D modeling, pyrotechnics, extreme body modification, suspension and traditional cinematography all come together in an extraordinary way to tell the tale of humanities uncertain future.”

About:

West of Hell is a band that delivers a unique form of heavy metal with a wide range of influences from power, death and prog metal to thrash, groove and classic metal. Band members first connected in the mid-2000s in West Auckland, New Zealand. Andrew Hulme (drums), Ivan Vrdoljak (guitars), and Sean Parkinson (guitars) started practicing together and soon found a bassist in Jordan Kemp. As they honed their skills, without a vocalist, the decision was made to relocate as a group to a larger market.

In 2009, they moved to Vancouver, BC, Canada. Still, in search of a vocalist, they were eventually led to Chris ‘The Heathen’ Valagao, frontman of Zimmers Hole. With Valagao on board (vocals) and a complete set of songs ready to record, Spiral Empire was released in 2012 via Reversed Records, followed by a tour in New Zealand and extensive touring in Canada. Valagao, using his experience as a cinematographer and SPFX artist, produced and directed two music videos for the tracks “Faceless the Droids” and “Water of Sorcery.”

Although the members had hoped to progress as a band and remain based in Canada, unfortunately, it wasn’t viable for some. Ivan left the band in early 2011 and Andrew left in 2014, both returning to NZ. Kris Schulz, a key figure in introducing the band to Valagao, was approached to join the band in 2014. His guitar playing and personality brought an exciting new twist to the band’s sound. With drummer Paul Drummond stepping in as a committed member, West of Hell has its strongest line-up to date. In conjunction with touring in support of sophomore album Blood of the Infidel, writing fresh new music for the band’s third album is well underway. The evolution of West of Hell’s sound continues!

West of Hell is:
Chris Valagao – Vocals
Sean Parkinson – Lead Guitar

“Blood Of The Infidels enhances every aspect of their previous effort, upping the technical wizardry; improving the songwriting; trimming the fat and generally crafting one of the best albums of 2019. I’m not even kidding, this record keeps me coming back for more and more – and providing something new with every listen.” – 9.5/10 – Metal Observer

“Those melodies, those vocals (honestly, the guy is from Zimmers Hole who are one of my favorites based both on the music and his excellent voice). The whole package is a wonder to behold and I’m only one-track in. Instant attention grabber!” – Cult Metal Flix

“This band is just something else, I tell ya! The instrumentation is quite a beast. A hard, thrashing vibe engulfs this heavy metal riffamaggedon with both a technical and shred spirit. Thrash, traditional heavy metal, shred and a bit of technical metal all coexist and thrive. The rhythm section by itself is something to hear and the guitars, well, they will make you bang your head, of course. You have to hear this singer. You don’t hear singers like this every day! Strong powerful singing, and raging screams that sound good.” – Metal Bulletin

Fractures & Outlines, post-hardcore from Gatineau, Canada are releasing their debut full-length album, “Defenseless” this year and in anticipation have released a video for the first single “Mirrors”.

Full of heavy hooks, catchy choruses and brutal breakdowns the single shows both the bands punk and hardcore influences, starting with the melodic bass work which is followed by screams and breakdowns.“Defenseless” follows the 2017 EP “Checkmate” and will sound a bit different according to the band:

“Since the EP, we are definitely more mature than our first release. We’re used to working with each other and we’re all motivated to try new things.”

As one of the punkier tracks on the album, the band plays with the sound while maintaining a close to heart theme as the band explains:

“It’s a punk rock/post-hardcore song with a catchy hook. It talks about self-doubt and hiding your feelings from people around you.”

Core fans of all types, especially those with an affinity for Silverstein, AlexisOnFire and Obey The Brave will relish with this single and no doubt the full album.

BIO:

Ripping out of Gatineau, Canada, Fractures & Outlines are a post-hardcore band with influences ranging from Silverstein, No Use For A Name and Killswitch Engage.

The band came together in 2014 and work tirelessly planting their feet in the local underground music scene. Today the lineup consists of Nicholas Boudreault (vocals), Mathieu Frechette (drums/vocals), Eric Desormeaux (guitar/vocals), Maxime Rondeau (guitar), and Maurice Emond Jr. (bass). Intrepidly, they created their first EP ‘Checkmate’ in 2017, which was met with solid acclaim from various publications.

Since first taking the stage in 2014, Fractures & Outlines have played a whirlwind of local shows and festival including Rock Revolt 2017, Floodfest 2017, and Hullfest 2018. They have shared the stage with bands such as Sworn Enemy, Obey The Brave and Mass Hysteria.

As a team, the band works on each song together crafting heavy hooks, catchy choruses and brutal breakdowns with lyrical themes about internal struggle and having to fight your own demons. Each member brings a different set of musical influences to the table, making Fractures & Outlines stand out in the genre.

Working to further develop a sound that is their own, they hit the studio in 2018 to start work on their 10 track full length ‘Defenseless’, which will be revealed on May 17, 2019.

“An interesting choice to the lineup, as the other bands were of the deathcore / melodic metal genre. However, what they lacked in genre similarity they made up for in energy. This was highlighted by their cover of Alexisonfire “This Could Be Anywhere in the World“, which I and the crowd were taken aback by. Not only did they do the cover well, but they got the crowd engaged and were eager to mosh and sing along to it.” – Splice Media Group

N E K E R is an Italian solo metal artist that has already conquered several countries across Europe since beginning in 2013 and has now set his attention to the masses across the Atlantic, specifically Eastern Canada. The loud, dirty and noisy project will hit the shores of the Great White North on April 3, 2019, and play 9 gigs in 10 days.

Now with a refined live trio that has re-recorded the original release ‘Louder’, as well as the debut single ‘Sleeping Memories’ that was later released as a music video, N E K E R,  is keeping a proud southern sound with subtle elements of metalcore and death metal. His live show not to be missed especially by fans of Pantera, Down, and Everytime I Die.

N E K E R adds:

“The first album, Louder, is above all instinct but in a good way. I put in it everything that was in my mind at that time, no frills. This was partly due to the fact that I couldn’t wait to show my work to the world.”

BIO:

N E K E R is an Italian Southern metal project that came into being in 2013 initially as a solo project, after N E K E R’s (bass/vocal) departure from a now defunct metalcore band. He intended to create a sound with strong southern influences without forgetting the years spent playing and listening to genres such as post-hardcore, screamo, and metalcore.

In 2015, with the recruitment of Alessandro Eusebi (guitar) and Daniele Alessi (drums), the live band was fully formed and they hit the studio to re-record the single “Sleeping Memories” with the aim to make an official video. The video was released in January 2016 and the live band took to touring. Later in 2016 “Louder” was re-recorded and supported with a European tour. Having conquered several countries across Europe solo artist N E K E R set his attention to the masses across the Atlantic as well as recording another album.

Toronto’s SLUDGEHAMMER are ready to pummel the masses with their forthcoming album “Antechamber” ready to destroy eardrums on April 12, 2019.

Heavy and groovy, SLUDGEHAMMER delivers the goods with astounding precision and the confidence of a world-class band. Their new music video for their second single “Climatic Death” is getting fans ready for the inevitable apocalypse.

“From its groove laden intro to its blasterrific chorus, this is a crushing track from start to finish. We find it skillfully combines heavy guitar riffs, killer vocals, and intense drumming while showcasing an ear for melody and song structure. While the lyrical content is rather dark (think apocalyptic global warming kind of dark), the song itself is a rocking good time, as you will see in the video. We really enjoyed writing this track and giving it a ripping performance to rock out to.”

BIO:

Since the release, their first full-length album, The Fallen Sun, Sludgehammer from Toronto, Canada have been riding a wave of great reviews for the record as well as their live show.

Originally formed in 2013 by Jeff Wilson (guitar) and Fernando Villalobos (drums), Sludgehammer’s initial lineup came together with the addition of Daniel Ayers (vocals/bass) and Christopher Szarota (vocals).  By the end of the year, they released a demo which gained considerable ground. 2014’s EP Organ Harvester introduced Dan Ayers as a co-vocalist, creating a unique sound that molded Sludgehammer into the heavy and groovy band it is today.

In 2016, the LP The Fallen Sun was released; fast and chunky it was well received by fans and the media. Unfortunately, after the release of that album, the band parted ways with Szarota and Josh Stephney was brought on board to complete the album cycle.

With the lineup finalized, Sludgehammer hit the road and laid waste to every stage they set foot on, showing their fans that they were now stronger than ever.  After a few successful tours in support of The Fallen Sun, it was time to start writing the next record which will be the first to feature Stephney on vocals. Sludgehammer is preparing to show their maturity by unleashing a second monstrous album “Antechamber” in 2019.

– 30 –

“Sludgehammer doesn’t fit neatly into the traditional death or groove metal box, as its diverse elements sets it apart from its peers… hooky riffs, catchy choruses and a perfect clean/growled vocal combination… Sludgehammer possesses loads of potential. Highly recommended!” – Bravewords

“This is how gifted SLUDGEHAMMER as a band is, even with only a demo, EP and now LP under their belts. On their own, they’re a devastating DIY metal band. With a contract in-hand, they’re gonna become unstoppable.” – Blabbermouth

““Demons From the Woodwork”. It’s a jolting, high-octane, full-throttled romp that incorporates elements of thrash, death metal, and head-slugging groove — and it’s an infectious beast that Sludgehammer have unchained.” – No Clean Singing

“Sludgehammer have a great way of infusing groove into their sound. Not nearly enough of that in death metal these days” – CJSF – Metal Meltdown

“The thing about Sludgehammer musically is they take so many different styles and mesh them together into this sound that encapsulates traditional, thrash, modern, death, and progressive metal, while creating something unique yet familiar. The excellent guitar work with hooky riffs and blazing solos matched with the heaviness and intensity was greatly appealing.” – Get Ready To Rock
