Relatively new to the Seattle metal scene, Draemora is comprised of seasoned musicians who, despite COVID-19 slowing their debut, are ready to show the nation and the world their EP “Awakening” on June 26, 2020, via Ultra Nast Records.

The EP, lyrically, is about battling with drugs and alcohol, and the long journey out of that hell. Heavy, prodigious and heartfelt, vocalist/guitarist Terry Jenkins notes his personal attachments to the lyrics he writes:

“The lyrics come right out of the pages of my life, the things I went through, and how I got through them. Music is a huge outlet for me to dump the good times, bad times, and everything else in between. The majority of the lyrics are a culmination of direct excerpts from letters, poems, and life experiences from the period between May 2018 and August 2019. It was a very intense time in my life.”

The single “Home” is the most technical song on the EP; energetic and powerful, it’s the first song on the album and sets the mood for the duration of the record. The lyrical content is dark and moody, the music is ferocious and impactful. Jenkins goes into detail:

“A lot of us reach for substances, to put off having to deal with things and unfortunately some never get out of that brutal cycle and erase themselves from the earth, I have known a few souls that didn’t make it. I wanted the song to convey the message that in a world that is so dark and brutal sometimes there is always hope for those who want to find it, and you don’t have to destroy yourself to figure that out.”

About:

Draemora was formed in November 2019 in the Seattle, USA area by Terry Jenkins (vocals/guitar) after his separation from his previous band Odyssian. Seeing it as an opportunity to take a chance and try something different, he wrote a handful of songs with lyrics and demoed them out at his house. These demos attracted the attention of soon to be bandmate, ex-Jesus Wears Armani drummer Jared Conelie and ex-Odyssian vocalist Taylor Wood.

After fleshing out the demos with their own personal touches on the songs, Jenkins found local guitar player Max Taylor and set out to record the 5 song EP “Awakening”.

The EP is nothing short of heavy, melodic metal infused with honest and heartfelt lyrics; This combination works perfectly with the band’s mission to evoke an intense emotional and spiritual experience that brings out the raw emotions that are suppressed all day in normal day to day lives.

“This EP lyrically is all about battles with drugs and alcohol and the long journey out of that hell.  I feel that it will connect with anyone who has ever had mental problems, family problems, or experienced relationships falling apart. I didn’t want to come across as disingenuous, or contrived and wrote about things that I really went through and put my life and my problems out there for anyone to interact with as they wish. I think this recording is intense and beautiful.  It’s angry and sad and uplifting and I think is a reflection of a human living in modern-day society.” says Jenkins.

With a slight pause in the band’s plans due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Draemora is already working away on a full-length album to follow and getting ready for when they can pummel crowds live with their heavy melodic brand of progressive death metal.

Their debut EP “Awakening” is due out June 26, 2020 via Ultra Nast Records and will be available on all major digital platforms.

Leading up to the release of their new album “La Bestia” on June 12th via label Bam&co Heavy, Canadian thrash metal maniacs Anonymus is sharing the full length’s lead first single “Sobrevivir”.

This is the 12th album from the Montreal band and it’s a little different from the rest of their French and English discography, being that it is the first full length that will be completely in Spanish. Anonymus explains their thoughts on the release:

“We always try to surpass ourselves as musicians and we always try to write the best songs we can. It’s important to be loyal to what we do but we listen to the new bands and how the metal scene evolves. I think over the years we can feel an evolution in the band’s sound.”

The song comes at an excellent time as it talks about survival in uncertain times full of desperation. The catchy tune is heavy and melodic, with refined techniques and vocal melodies. This is thrash metal at its best. A complete Spanish metal thrashing album that is a compilation of songs written over the years that describes the essence of the band at the peak of what they have to offer. For more detail on “Sobrevivir” the band says:

“This is simply about everyday life. Nothing is easy in the modern world. Each one of us has to work very hard to get where we want to be. It’s a constant fight. As simple as that. We can easily apply this song to our world’s survival in many ways”.

With over 2.5 million streams on Spotify, Anonymus is showing no signs of slowing down. Fans of thrash metal standbys such as Slayer and Testament will no doubt be intrigued by this new offering.

Conceived in the spring of 2019 with a variety of influences, the quartet expands into multiple genres, getting fans excited to embrace different styles of music. Lyrically, the release is based around emotions that they’ve felt in past experiences of their lives. Some of these songs cover subjects/ moments of band member’s lives that are very personal to them. Some are more based around observations of the state of things around the world. Not necessarily exact ways of how things are, but observations from their point of view.

Johansen adds:

“We really wanted something that will resonate with people or make them think when they’re listening to the lyrics.”

The intrepid duo of Edmonton’s Sleepwraith are releasing their debut album “Day Terrors” this Friday, January 17, 2020.

Before it officially drops, the band has teamed up with MetalInsider.net for the exclusive premiere of the full length’s stream HERE.

This is the first album from Sleepwarith in what is expected to be a series of releases under the name. The songs and overall flow of the album feel like a journey that takes an emotional toll on the listener, with dynamic parts and unexpected turns. To Sleepwraith it’s important to create music with levels of intricacy that you might not notice on the first listen. Sleepwraith explains their motivation behind writing the album:

“We created an album with little thought as to how it would be received, instead of focusing on making an album that we would want to hear. About:

Sleepwraith comes from Edmonton, Canada and the project has been incubated over the course of 20 years and five previous bands ranging from grunge to metalcore to punk rock to hardcore.

The partnership of Seedy Mitchell (guitars/vocals) and Ryan Biggs (drums) is based on a friendship that goes back to before either of them were playing music or even listening to metal. Now that partnership has developed into a dark and dynamic collaborative undertaking that sees Mitchell bringing material to the table in the form of multiple personalities (guitar, bass, vocals) and those elements being worked on together until a song is built.

Coming from different musical backgrounds, Mitchell and Biggs have found their differing styles complement each other and blend to form their brand of deep and intricate metal. Their music conveys emotion through the music but also maintains a technicality that makes it interesting to write and play, and subsequently, listen to.

Sleepwraith wants to tell stories musically and lyrically, focused primarily on creating and releasing new music and art without being concerned about playing it live. All of their energies have been pointed at that goal. With influences coming from all over the metal map including prog, death, mathcore, metalcore, and hardcore, Sleepwraith is an upcoming original band with something for all listeners. The more you listen to it, the more there is to hear.

The intrepid duo of Edmonton’s Sleepwraith are releasing their debut album “Day Terrors” on January 17, 2020.

This is the first album from Sleepwarith in what is expected to be a series of releases under the name. The songs and overall flow of the album feel like a journey that takes an emotional toll on the listener, with dynamic parts and unexpected turns. To Sleepwraith it’s important to create music with levels of intricacy that you might not notice on the first listen. Sleepwraith explains their motivation behind writing the album:

“We created an album with little thought as to how it would be received, instead of focusing on making an album that we would want to hear. We’ve always felt that making art with this starting point has created some of the most genuine music out there. Hopefully, our fans enjoy music for the same reasons we do and enjoy this album as much as we do.”

The second single from this album is ‘A Demon’s Pawn and The Abyss‘, a fast-paced, intricate, and poetic tune about the void inside that can never be filled.

Sleepwraith comes from Edmonton, Canada and the project has been incubated over the course of 20 years and five previous bands ranging from grunge to metalcore to punk rock to hardcore.

The partnership of Seedy Mitchell (guitars/vocals) and Ryan Biggs (drums) is based on a friendship that goes back to before either of them were playing music or even listening to metal. Now that partnership has developed into a dark and dynamic collaborative undertaking that sees Mitchell bringing material to the table in the form of multiple personalities (guitar, bass, vocals) and those elements being worked on together until a song is built.

Coming from different musical backgrounds, Mitchell and Biggs have found their differing styles complement each other and blend to form their brand of deep and intricate metal. Their music conveys emotion through the music but also maintains a technicality that makes it interesting to write and play, and subsequently, listen to.

Sleepwraith wants to tell stories musically and lyrically, focused primarily on creating and releasing new music and art without being concerned about playing it live. All of their energies have been pointed at that goal. With influences coming from all over the metal map including prog, death, mathcore, metalcore, and hardcore, Sleepwraith is an upcoming original band with something for all listeners. “The main inspiration is the need to expel the demons within and contain them in an art form. We use this inner turmoil as a starting place, and try to make it into something beautiful. It’s painful and sometimes disgusting, but it’s also therapeutic.

Set to unleash their debut album “The Door” on October 4th, Montreal’s MESSORA are excited to share the release’s full stream via its exclusive premiere on Ghost Cult Mag HERE.

“The Door” is constantly shifting between genres, and creates a visceral atmosphere that can’t be confined to a single category, be prepared to hear death, melodic, doom and progressive elements throughout the seven tracks on the album. Looking to challenge listeners, MESSORA presents an album that requires attention and an open mind, as Zach Dean quotes:

“I am trying to present fans with a record that you listen to front to back and come out of feeling different. Maybe not even different, maybe just more like yourself. The album as a whole is very varied musically while remaining focused and tight. It’s very clearly a metal album but you can hear that we want to go to different places and incorporate different influences throughout the record. Most of the songs are very long and have very complicated structures and changes, but it’s always meant to feel right and musical rather than abrupt and meaningless.”

Formed as a solo recording project in 2016 in Montréal, Québec, Messora has become a band that obscures and challenges genres. To the band, the music comes as what feels best in the moment. To the fans, it is a kaleidoscope of sound that appears different at every glance and to every eye.

Messora has been described as Death Metal, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal, Melodic Metal, and Doom Metal by fans and showgoers. The elements that make up the music may seem familiar to some, yet the whole remains a challenge to define.

The band knows how to set themselves apart from others musically as well as aesthetically, with showmanship and presentation second only to musical performance during their live show. They demand attention with their presentation but keep it with the strength of their performance and musicianship. Set to drop their debut EP “Pre-Meditated” on Friday, September 20th, 2019, Ottawa’s TripleMurder is here to make listeners question what they think about pigeonholing bands into sub-genres by offering everything from chunky groovy riffs, blast beats, to breakdowns and two-steps along with everything in between. They refuse to be set into one specific genre and consistently break rules over the course of their debut six-song EP. From their track ‘Eyes Of Judgement’ being a homage to their hardcore/death metal roots with a melodic spin to their song ‘Boogeyman’ being a more complex punch with intricate breakdowns and more experimental guitar and drum work. Their lyrical themes involve the state of the human race, politics and social media scares to just everyday life and human interactions. TripleMurder explains the release further:

“We believe that it should be received as a wake-up call to the metal industry that you don’t have to confine yourself to a certain subgenre of metal to write heavy tunes. It’s all about having fun and showing off everybody’s musical tastes in the band.”

Musically, the track (Crawl) is a mix of seething guitar bursts and brutish pounding grooves, jagged jabbing chords and squirming arpeggios, vicious shrieks and carnivorous roars. It’s part racing melee and part methodical, pile-driving punishment. It also includes a fluid yet freakish guitar solo that spirals upward in mad ecstasy, as well as clean vocals intermixed with the cacophony of harsh roaring and screaming in a way that lends a sorrowful dimension to the music, and you’ll come to a closing sequence that will provide good exercise for your neck and a good clobbering for your skull.
