Kelowna, BC, Canada’s SweetBeast has a new music video to share for the track “Plastic People” in the lead-up to their forthcoming debut album “Illusions” out late February 2025. This is the third single the band is revealing off the record to follow songs “Illusion” ft. Space Queen” and “Dream Eater”.

SweetBeast explains “Plastic People”:

“This track critiques the superficiality of modern society, particularly the harmful effects of social media on mental health. With lines like “effects and filters, digital weapons,” the song highlights how the endless stream of digitally altered images fuels feelings of inadequacy, especially in women. This cycle of comparison can lead to doom scrolling, depression, and even suicide, stripping away authenticity and turning people into hollow, “plastic” versions of themselves. By raising awareness of these devastating effects, the song encourages self-reflection and contrasts inner beauty with the hollowness of curated personas.”

SweetBeast‘s first full-length “Illusions” is a sonic exploration of shifting realities, blending heavy, distorted riffs with introspective lyrics. Prepare for a relentless onslaught of vulgar, belligerent punk, sludge, and sweat as Ivy Gardens, the sonic architects of chaos, emerge from the shadows of Niagara, Ontario to tour across Eastern Canada this coming May 2024 (dates listed below) in support of their forthcoming first full-length album “Goon”, arriving on April 19, 2024. Brace yourself for an immersive experience as the band delivers a nearly endless stream of beaten-to-hell drums, searing organs, throbbing bass synths, and a liquid wall of guitar sludge, which is showcased in their recently released first single and music video “Boner”.

“Opening with a relaxed groove that builds and builds to the heaviest possible climax, Boner has been a major highlight of our live set since it was introduced. Following the more relaxed pacing of the song, the softer vocal performance less seen in our music tells of a (seemingly) simple disagreement between two bitter individuals. Like many musicians and bands, members of Montreal’s heavy stoner rockers Paradise are citizens of the globe. They have been observing life with the Covid 19 pandemic along with social and political unrest in various parts of the world. In an artistic commentary, the band has taken their track “Who Do You Wanna Be” off their latest self-titled album and created a new music video questioning our identity during global uncertainty.

The band comments:

” We’ve always been about partying and rock and roll, but there comes a time when you have to ask yourself: WTF am I doing, and how did we get here. This video suggests that it is time to take a good long look in the mirror.”

Back in the summer of 2002, co-founders and fellow guitar players, Frank Kelly and Jet Phil recruited good friends Mike Plant (Sword) and drum god Michel “Away” Langevin (Voivod) to release Paradises 1st album “Rock Anthropologists on the Kon Tiki Voyage”. Summer of 2004, the usual suspects were rounded-up including a collaboration of Voivod’s late but great Denis “Piggy” D’Amour to work on Paradise’s follow-up record “Hotel”. Now in 2020, composed of Frank Kelly (guitars), Fred Kelly (bass), RL Black (vocals), Fred Crew Grrr (guitars) and Mat Hias (drums), Paradise, like a phoenix that is reborn from its ashes, have released a new eponymous album that sways on the line between hard stoner rock and pure heavy metal that was mixed and mastered by Kevin Jardine of Slaves On Dope. From the opening piece and future classic “Straight From Hell” to the album closer “Free in Exile”, Paradise delivers an album where the balance between catchy riffs, attitude, intensity, and melodies is perfect.

Like many musicians and bands around the world, members of Montreal’s heavy stoner rockers Paradise have been separated from one another as a precaution to the Covid 19 pandemic. Not able to see each other to have regular jams along with postponements of performances, the band has adapted to the state of the world and continues to promote their heavy and winding arrangements of corrosive rock with the creation of a new quarantine video series entitled “From The Van”.

For the series, the band has recorded two songs from their latest self-titled album released this past March. Today, the band shares their second video for the track “One of A Kind”.

“All we want to do is play, but we find ourselves just like everyone else, distancing and in confinement, but we did find a loophole and a coincidence that we all own our own vans. So we decided to each record ourselves performing our tunes with multi-camera angles. This is Covid 19 style! We couldn’t do it on stage, couldn’t do it for our fans, so we did it in our vans! In 2005, Paradise started a long hiatus, after the release of the album “Hotel”, now they have broken their silence with a new record and new videos to prove to fans they can still rock out after all these years. The self-titled album was released on March 13, 2020 to excellent global reviews.

Today, the band has a new video for the single ‘Hitting On All Sixes’, a track that comes with energetic lyrics overtop of an old school car race, guaranteed to get your heart racing and headbanging.

Canada’s Paradise has been on hiatus since 2005, but by the will of the volcanic rock gods, they have resurfaced with new music ready to blow your mind. Mixed and mastered by Kevin Jardine from Slaves On Dope, their self-titled album recently released on March 13, 2020 via Vega Musique is ready to prove to fans that they haven’t grown complacent in their absence. Featuring 10 punchy tracks, the lead single ‘Straight From Hell’ has a new high-octane video to fully embrace the smooth, catchy hard rock that they have been known for over the years. Recommend for fans of Clutch, Queens of The Stone Age, Kyuss, and Volbeat, this is a heavy blend of corrosive rock.

“We think we’re right in between heavy rock and metal with a stoner feel sometimes. We really tried to have different vibes throughout the record and not have the pedal to the metal on each song like the previous ones.”

Paradise‘s previous releases, 2002’s “Rock Anthropologists On The Kon Tiki Voyage” featured Mike Plant (Sword) and drum god Michel “Away” Langevin (Voivod) and follow-up record, 2005’s “Hotel” included a collaboration with Voivod’s late Denis “Piggy” D’Amour. Since reforming, Paradise have played many impactful live shows including a tour in Cuba in 2019, where they ended up giving away all of their merchandise for free along with an Orange amp to one of the opening bands.

Back in the summer of 2002, co-founders and fellow guitar players, Frank Kelly and Jet Phil recruited good friends Mike Plant (Sword) and drum god Michel “Away” Langevin (Voivod) to release Paradises 1st album: “Rock Anthropologists on the Kon Tiki Voyage”. Summer of 2004: the usual suspects were rounded-up including a collaboration of Voivod’s late but great Denis “Piggy” D’Amour to work on Paradise’s follow-up record “Hotel”. For fans of Deep Purple, Queens of The Stone Age, Black Keys, and Kyuss, Black Mastiff‘s new album “Loser Delusions” is a blizzard of distortion that will be experienced this coming Friday, October 18, 2019 via Grand Hand Records. Before the album officially drops, the Edmonton riff masters have teamed up with Bravewords for its exclusive full stream premiere HERE.

Ready to put listeners into a fuzzy mood with their signature groove with their new album ‘Loser Delusions’, this latest release from Black Mastiff explores new territories, with distinctive, thick sounds and soulful vocals that are immediately recognizable.

“Loser Delusions” is much more eclectic than their previous record, “Music Machine”, and shows the band is comfortable stepping outside of the expected. With “Loser Delusions”, the band is inviting fans on a musical journey that passes through all things rock n’ roll, from garage to prog, there are many influences that Black Mastiff has not previously tapped into that are present on this new album.

Edmonton’s Black Mastiff (Bob Yiannakoulias, Clay Shea, Allan Harding) is a band built around lifelong friendships and having fun, a vibe they’ve extended to both their porous, heavy, and vigorous live performance, and their recordings.

With their third full-length album Loser Delusions (Fall 2019), keeping it together became a literal priority. During the four years since their well-received Music Machine (New Damage Records, 2015), recorded and beautifully produced at Thunder Underground Studio in the desert of Palm Springs with John Garcia (Kyuss, Vista Chino), the trio had to change their perception of how a band operates. Already Renaissance men and entrepreneurs in other life ventures, when facing unforeseen challenges the band sharpened their production and business know-how by starting their own label, Grand Hand, with tour mates Chron Goblin. When drummer Allan moved to Vancouver, they decided to see how distance apart could add to, rather than take away from, their creative process and sound. The result is a determined continuation of what they do best, with a voyaging out into new sonic territory.

Canadian fuzz lords Chron Goblin will be releasing their new album “Here Before” on September 27, 2019 via Grand Hand Records. Teaming up with Kerrang!, the band is premiering the full length’s exclusive stream at the following link HERE.

Rock and sludge combine into a mix are what sets CHRON GOBLIN apart from other bands in the genre and after 10 years, they have perfected crafting their tunes that have been enjoyed around the world. “With any Chron Goblin album, you can expect heavy riffs, soaring vocals, and thunderous drums! What sets this album apart is that it’s a bit more refined and mature – probably as a result of doing this for 10 years! We also experimented quite a bit with our sound on tracks like ‘Ghost’, ‘Slipping Under’, and ‘Giant’ which moved away from our traditional Chron Goblin sound and added in more dynamics and melody. The vocals really stand out on ‘Here Before’ and demonstrate a more melodic sound than previous albums. We feel this album will be enjoyed by our long term fans while giving them a sense of a new sound and direction in addition to the classic ‘full steam onslaught riff attack’.”

Edmonton’s Black Mastiff are blasting off to ‘Star Base 77’ with their new animated music video in support of their forthcoming album “Loser Delusions” due out on October 18, 2019 via Grand Hand Records. The video’s animation was created by Black Mastiff‘s own vocalist/guitarist Bobby Yiannakoulias.

“As a songwriter, this track is about us all being insignificant in the world while we’re so obsessed with whether or not we get likes “Hope the station knows that I’ve arrived”. The guitar, drums, and bass are working together with a very precise heavy heating march. That’s how we do our thing. When singing this song I thought a lot about Bobby Liebling and Blue Cheer doing “Summertime Blues”. As a filmmaker, I love animation and movies old rotoscope movies like ‘The Hobbit’ from 1977.I tried to draw from that style but with an added sense of humour.” says Yiannakoulias.
