Set to release their third full length“Crimson Wreath” this coming May 2021 via Rockshots Records, Greece’s prog power Illusory are sharing the record’s first single “Besetting Sins”.

“This is the opening track of the album and also our first single off the “Crimson Wreath” album. A very heavy song with fast guitar gallops, an Eastern flavor, a melodic chorus, and a progressive twin guitar melody in the middle of the song. It speaks about religion and especially about Seven Deadly Sins.” adds the band.

Set to release their sophomore album “Psychosomatic” on Friday, February 12th via M-Theory Audio, IMMORTAL GUARDIAN have teamed up with ThePit for the record’s full stream before it officially drops.

After winning over new audiences with their acclaimed 2018 debut full-length “Age of Revolution” and touring relentlessly alongside fellow shredders such as Marty Friedman, Powerglove, and Exmortus, IMMORTAL GUARDIAN gathered in Las Vegas last year to begin recording their second album. As the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent pandemic began to ensue, each member of the band retreated to their respective hometowns. With shutdowns around the world being enforced, the band completely scrapped the record that they had been working on and were heavily inspired to write and create a new thematic record about their emotions surrounding current events.

“Psychosomatic” is a product of the extraordinary events of 2020. The result is a truly multi-national record, with guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian remaining in Las Vegas, vocalist Carlos Zema recording his vocals from his home in Brazil, new drummer Justin Piedimonte joining the band from his hometown in Montreal, Canada, and new bassist Joshua Lopez remaining in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s native Texas.

The group, founded by Gabriel Guardian, whose uncanny ability to play guitar and keyboard simultaneously has been showcased on MTV’s “Amazingness” along with his unique dual-instrument covers of classics by the likes of Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Guns N’ Roses have garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and have been built upon the band’s following through multiple self-released EPs before signing with M-Theory Audio for the 2018 release of their first full-length record, “Age of Revolution”. The band has also performed live alongside some of the biggest names in metal, including Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Kamelot, Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, Slayer, Metal Church, Soilwork and Steve Vai, and in countries such as Brazil and Russia, and during high-profile performances at ESPN’s X Games, South By Southwest and the Fun Fun Fun Fest.

“I’ve always been absolutely fascinated by this song. It’s one of a kind in its composition, tone, phrasing, and all around badassery. Eric Johnson, you sir are a genius. Thank you for inspiring me as a young Texan guitarist. I covered this song in my 8th-grade talent show and from then to even now, it never got any easier, but my passion and feeling towards every note felt the same! I love how some songs with no lyrics can pull so much emotion and nostalgia outta me. Happy to have finally had the time and skill to do a proper video for this epic song.”

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN – hailed by MetalSucks as “seriously epic” – has unveiled a music video for “Clocks”, the third single from their forthcoming concept album “Psychosomatic”. The clip, which features footage from the last time the extreme progressive/power metal quartet was together before the Covid pandemic broke out, can be viewed via its premiere on GearGods HERE.

“No matter how hard we try to control our futures, history constantly repeats itself,” guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian says of the new single. “’Clocks’ is a song about trying to break out of cycles that seem to inevitably repeat themselves.”

The video for “Clocks” features footage from the band’s early production work on “Psychosomatic”, as well as clips of their experiences at last year’s NAMM convention, which was the last time the band was together prior to the pandemic. Due to subsequent lockdowns – the subject of a song and video the band released last month – “Psychosomatic” ended up being a truly multi-national record, with Gabriel remaining in Las Vegas, vocalist Carlos Zema recording his vocals from his home in Brazil, new drummer Justin Piedimonte contributing from his hometown of Montreal, Canada, and new bassist Joshua Lopez remaining in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s native Texas.

The song and video for “Clocks” also features a dizzying dual guitar/keyboard solo from Gabriel Guardian. Being from southern Brazil, Rage In My Eyes shows a side of the country most people don’t know about. Blending heavy/prog metal with elements of MILONGA (folk music from southern Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina) to their music along with accordion, the band presents a distinctive brand of metal that is their own. The band’s first album “Ice Cell” was released in August 2019 and was recorded partially in Los Angeles and in their native Porto Alegre, Brazil. The album was produced by Magnus Wichmann at Magneto Studio (Brazil) and Daufembach Studio (USA). It was mixed and mastered in Los Angeles by the renowned Brazilian producer Adair Daufembach. The cover was designed by Tiago Masseti, who has worked with Hibria, Luis Kalil and Daydream XI. The band has also been an opening for Iron Maiden in Porto Alegre, Brazil in October 2019,

The band comments about “Ice Cell”:

“In summary, Ice Cell is a manifesto against the superficiality, inertia, coldness of the human being, his indifference, and his corruptible character. An album that seeks this sincere connection with the truth and musicality of each member, explaining their diverse influences in heavy metal and their South Brazilian and South American roots.”

Prior to their new band name of Rage In My Eyes, the group spent 17 years under the moniker of Scelerata, which had a huge history in the Brazilian heavy metal scenario. The band had three albums released worldwide, including the acclaimed album “The Sniper” – partially recorded in Germany, at the Blind Guardian studio – that featured guest appearances from Paul DiAnno (former Iron Maiden) and Andi Deris (Helloween).

Scelerata was also Paul DiAnno’s official Brazilian backing band from 2009 to 2014, playing 50+ shows with this heavy metal icon.

With this huge background, the musicians are now aiming for the future.

The Iron Maiden classic “Aces High” has been reworked by Rage In My Eyes – their tribute to the heavy metal legends who they were an opening act for in Porto Alegre, Brazil in October 2019. Their imagining of the classic is melodic, lightly proggy, and a proper homage to one of the most loved songs in metal history.

The illustrious Bruce Dickinson has one of the most recognizable voices in the genre and it’s rare that a band can do it justice – but Rage In My Eyes’ vocalist Jonathas Pozo nails the wide range and theatrics that come through the music. They do add a creative spin, adding reverb and more gang vocals to the chorus. Rage In My Eyes released their first album “Ice Cell” under that name in 2019, the first offering since a rebrand and slight shift in music. The band has recently started to blend elements of MILONGA (folk music from southern South America) to their music along with accordion, but to some of the tracks, resulting in a fresh type of music that no one has ever done before. The band quotes about the album:

Rage In My Eyes is a technically sound heavy metal act hailing from Porto Alegre, Brazil who have a new video out for the track “Winter Dream” off the 2019 album “Ice Cell”. The video was part of the band’s participation in the Roadie Crew Online Festival – 9º Edição.

“Ice Cell” is the first album by the band under their current name; the group also released three albums under Scelerata. They originally formed in 2002 and with the recent name change has altered their sound to incorporate traditional music from South America with prog and heavy metal. Along with the cultural infusion, Rage In My Eyes brings in accordion for a truly one of a kind listening experience. Vocalist Jonathas Pozo explains the conception of “Winter Dream”:

“We had already chosen Winter Dream as the opening track, which led us to address the lyric theme in order to present a little of the icy scenery of Ice Cell, imagining the aspect of our biological and chemical origin under the influence of the morphic field theory of Rupert Sheldrake, that is, considering the presence of the past as an important constituent of our subsequent choices, as humanity. At the same time bringing in this scenario landscapes that are common in southern Brazil, such as fog, frost, and sometimes even snow. It was also chosen because it is a more cadenced and heavy song (although also extremely technical and quite proggy), thus contrasting with the usual melodic and fast opening tracks in power metal albums, representing more accurately the “musical humor” of the band.”

Overall, the album can be summed up as ‘tight’. It has great guitar riffs, fast drum parts, intricate instrumental parts, and powerful yet melodic vocals. Sometimes it leans towards prog metal, sometimes to power metal, sometimes to folk metal, sometimes to traditional metal, sometimes to thrash metal. And it still sounds like a cohesive whole, due to how well blended it all is.

Recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Helloween, and Symphony X, Rage In My Eyes brings an icy new edge to traditional power metal.

“Rich or poor, it doesn’t matter, every human this year experienced some kind of lockdown/isolation during this insane year,” says guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian. “We couldn’t even just meet up because our borders were on lockdown for international travel. Thank god for the internet, as we were able to still create music and keep each other company online even with thousands of miles between each member. ‘Lockdown’ talks about all of the same questions we all have been asking ourselves since the start of the pandemic. Where did this all come from? Who’s to blame? Is the lockdown saving more lives than it’s destroying? We can only keep making music through these crazy times and hope for a better tomorrow.”

After winning over new audiences with their acclaimed 2018 debut full-length “Age of Revolution” and touring relentlessly alongside fellow shredders such as Marty Friedman, Powerglove, and Exmortus, IMMORTAL GUARDIAN gathered in Las Vegas earlier this year to begin recording their second album. As the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent pandemic began to ensue, each member of the band retreated to their respective hometowns. With shutdowns around the world being enforced, the band completely scrapped the record that they had been working on and were heavily inspired to write and create a new thematic record about their emotions surrounding current events.

“Psychosomatic” is a product of the extraordinary events of 2020. The result is a truly multi-national record, with guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian remaining in Las Vegas, vocalist Carlos Zema recording his vocals from his home in Brazil, new drummer Justin Piedimonte joining the band from his hometown in Montreal, Canada, and new bassist Joshua Lopez remaining in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s native Texas.

The group, founded by Gabriel Guardian, whose uncanny ability to play guitar and keyboard simultaneously has been showcased on MTV’s “Amazingness” along with his unique dual-instrument covers of classics by the likes of Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Guns N’ Roses have garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and have been built upon the band’s following through multiple self-released EPs before signing with M-Theory Audio for the 2018 release of their first full-length record, “Age of Revolution”. Canada’s Entropy unleashed their fourth album “Force Convergence” this past August. The full length is a 30-minute metal rip-ride! It’s a creative and fun progressive thrash full length that flows with power, melody, and aggressiveness along with it being a story-driven sci-fi horror experience. There are lyrical influences from bands like Rush, Queensryche, Voivod, Iron Maiden, plus films such as Aliens, Predator, War Of The World’s, Independence Day, with a tinge of war scene themes throughout the story concept from films like Apocalypse Now, Platoon, and Starship Troopers, mixed in for fun.

With an original and eclectic sound that is 30 years in the making, “Force Convergence” follows Entropy‘s three independently released Ashen Existence (1992), Transcendence (1995), and E3 (2012). The Canadian legends are suitable for all metalheads especially those who enjoy Slayer, Pantera, and Iron Maiden.

Today, the band is sharing their latest lyric video for the album’s title track “Force Convergence”. The song was the first one they wrote after E3.

Guitarist Dan Lauzon comments about the story behind the track:

“The first time we played this one live was in 2014 without Ger even having lyrics ready yet because I conned him into performing just to see how it would be received live haha. Over the years we vaulted it and it went over a few changes, partly because it was older and you just can’t help yourself making it better. When we started jamming this again to tighten everything up before the studio, I had forgotten just how heavy a song it was. That ending riff is classic Entropy, making a pile of time changes sound cohesive.”
