From Calgary, Canada comes Every Hour Kills, a hard-hitting melodic, modern metal project that has, in its many iterations, taken the local and international scenes by force. After going silent for a few years, Every Hour Kills has a new EP on the horizon, the aptly titled “Re:Awaken”.

In the 22nd century, mankind is faced with a difficult decision to sacrifice part of itself to save the other. Each song on “Re:Awaken” tells the story of an individual existing in this fragmented future; their struggle to exist amidst the chaos of forces of the elite alien race and the constant encroaching tide of technology. Every Hour Kills shares the evolution of this EP compared to the last:

“With every release, we are trying to push ourselves technically, in the writing and thematically. We aren’t limited to any particular genre or style, whatever feels right and comes out is allowed to happen – whether that be a blast beat or a guitarless synthwave section.”

The introductory single of the album, “Veiled Aurora” features guest vocals Shaley Bourget of Dayshell, Of Mice & Men & guest guitar solo Morgan Reid of Bloodshot Dawn. The first track on the EP provides a heavy, angular opening with an uplifting melody to signify the struggle and contrast mankind faces in the newly developing world.

“Re:Awaken” includes 4 tracks and instrumental mixes of each one, also Included is a high-quality illustrated storybook by Splice Comics to supplement the lyrical and visual themes of the band.

Every Hour Kills mixes djenty guitar work with electronic undertones, finished off with a variety of vocals gracing a wide range. They are recommended for fans of Soilwork, In Flames, and Starset.

Italian death metallers CHRONICLES OF HATE‘s debut album “The Birth of Hate” is now out as of February 28th via EXTREME METAL MUSIC.

Formed in 2016 by guitar players Riccardo D’Angelo and Roberto Simonetti, CHRONICLES OF HATE was raised from the depths of hell with the clear purpose of blending the solid impact of traditional death metal with grooving vibes. The video was recorded in 2018, internationally with vocalist/guitarist Barrett Klesko in Joshua Tree, USA and guitarist Mike Sands in Örebro, Sweden. Klesko has the following to say about the single, which is slower than what is typically expected from AEF:

“It’s analogous to where the band was in regards to our lineup over the past couple of years, all of us growing further apart due to new interests, but still having passion for the project. This is the last piece of music that Mike and I collaborated on, and I’m super proud of it. It’s totally a different approach for us (a ballad style remake of a previous song), and an awesome way to close off this chapter of AEF as we dive into the new one.”

Initially formed two decades ago in Turin, Italy, DYING AWKWARD ANGEL is a total testament to the strength and convictions of true metallers. Enduring line-up changes and travails that would have crushed a lesser band, DYING AWKWARD ANGEL refused to die…instead they have thrived!

Inspired by In Flames, At The Gates, Carcass, Dark Tranquillity, in 2013, DYING AWKWARD ANGEL unleashed their debut full-length album ‘Waiting For Punishment’, following it in 2016 with a well-received EP entitled ‘Madness Rising’. Playing heavy, yet catchy music with prime influences including Lamb of God, Soilwork, Tool and Slipknot, Canadian anthemic metal band ATRIA will be releasing their debut EP “New World Nightmare” on Friday, November 16th. The debut is just a teaser of what is to be expected from them. Not just sticking with the usual heavy formula of the genre, they also add plenty of synth and orchestral parts and experiment with varying degrees of technicality over four introductory tracks.

Vocalist Tom Emmans comments:

“New World Nightmare is a play on words about the new world order. It’s about the powerful and corrupt few selling us a dream that could only end in a nightmare. It’s about how instead of acting like greedy little insects, maybe we could all be a little nicer to one another sometimes.”

In additional news, ATRIA have been given the nod to open the Kingston, ON November 24th tour stop of The Metal Alliance Tour featuring Goatwhore, The Casualties, Black Tusk, Great American Ghost and Gozu.

Drummer Matt McGuire adds:

BIO:
Founded by Tom Emmans (vocals) and Tim Ross (guitar) in August of 2017, ATRIA takes its name from a music venue in a nearby city at which Emmans and Ross played their first gig at with a different band. The experiences had at that place resonated enough to be cemented as the band’s moniker. Eventually they recruited Matt McGuire (drummer), Brent Westmoreland (bass) and Travis McGinnis (guitar) to fill out the lineup and have played a handful of shows and festivals with a great response and are hungry for more. The debut release for the band, New World Nightmare EP, is due November 16th, 2018. Even as a relatively new band, Atria is finding their place in the Canadian underground scene and making their name known amongst a wide variety of metal fans.

Vocalist Tom Emmans expands on his vision for the band’s direction:

“I’ve always been a fan of catchy choruses. I like when bands can bring something dark and heavy, but also give me something to sing along to. We’ve tried to do that with our new single and I think we’ve accomplished that. Also the lyrics have a great deal of depth and personal meaning to them. The rest of the album is much heavier but there are still plenty of good hooks worked in there.”

Even as a relatively new band, ATRIA is finding their place in the Canadian underground scene and making their name known among a wide variety of metal fans.
