BURIED REALM Release Melodic Single “Poison Palace” Ft. Christian Münzner (Obscura) and Heikki Saari (Finntroll)

Self-Titled Album Out June 3, 2022

Colorado’s Buried Realm has a third album coming out, and like its two predecessors, it is chock full of heavy riffs, whiplash-inducing drums, and solos performed by a multitude of talented guests from around the world. This latest, self-titled offering has a third single entitled “Poison Palace”, which features the furious guitar work of Obscura’s Christian Münzner and drums by Heikki Saari (Finntroll). The man behind the project, Josh Dummer explains the track:

“It is the most abrasive and intense Buried Realm song. Lyrically, it is about people becoming chemically dependent, believing there is no other cure for their ailments. Ultimately, driving people to the point of mind-warping insanity.”

It is fitting that Münzner took up guitar duties on this track, it is a violent display of adrenaline and devastatingly heavy solos. Throughout the rest of the album, guests include musicians such as Dan Swanö and Christopher Amott (Dark Tranquillity, ex-Arch Enemy).

“Poison Palace” can be heard via its premiere on MetalInjection HERE.

Buried Realm started with Dummer wanting to release a solo album, he worked with a plethora of illustrious musicians to create it, to a great media response. With the exception of the guests, he composes everything and intends to keep writing and putting out albums on a regular basis for as long as he can.

Technical and fierce, “Buried Realm” is recommended for fans of Scar Symmetry, Children of Bodom, and Nevermore.

The self-titled album will be available on June 3, 2022.

About:
A true visionary is a rare thing, but such a man is Josh Dummer exemplified in his solo studio project Buried Realm. Influenced by personal experience and executed through metaphors, the progressive and heavy metal leaves room for interpretation and paints an interesting picture for listeners.

Inspired by Opeth, Kreator, Old Man’s Child, Symphony X (and tons of old Hair Metal!), Dummer is a man who is not afraid to gaze into the abyss for music and lyrical inspiration. He describes Buried Realm’s music as ‘fierce, cutting, technical, melodic, and memorable.’

Following up on his long-time idea of releasing a solo album, he seized the chance with his first offering “Ichor Carcinoma”. Released in 2017 it features guests such as Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Armageddon), Peter Wichers (Soilwork), Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun) and Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Jeff Loomis band).

In 2020, Dummer released is the follow-up sophomore “Embodiment of the Divine” and while it was parallel to the first, both musically and lyrically, it took a step in a sojourn journey. It featured many guests such as Andy Gillion (Mors Principium Est), Benjamin Ellis (Scar Symmetry), Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind), Dean Arnold (Primalfrost, Operus, ex-Vital Remains), Lee McKinney (Born of Osiris), Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork), Rafael Trujillo (ex-Obscura), and Ryan Strain (Chaos For The Masses.

The next chapter in Dummer’s journey is the release of his third self-titled Buried Realm studio album on June 3, 2022. Once again, Dummer has invited many guests on this record with Bob Katsionis (Witch Bones), Christian Münzner (Poison Palace), Christofer Malmström (Elder Gods), Christopher Amott (The Iron Flame/ Quicksand Memory), Dan Swanö (Where the Armless Phantoms Glide) and Dean Arnold (Spectral Light, Primalfrost). The lyrical theme on this full length is about paranormal and psychological twists… mind tricks.

Discography:
2022 – Buried Realm
2020 – Embodiment of the Divine
2017 – The Ichor Carcinoma

– 30 –

“Like its predecessor, this one’s an absolute ripper on the more technical / heavy side of the melodic death metal coin.” – Metal Sucks (Embodiment of the Divine Review)

“Creative, melodic and really charming, “Embodiment of the Divine” is an amazing experience. 10/10” – Metal Temple

“Well done melodic death metal that hits all the right marks.” – Dead Rhetoric

“The fast-punching grooves in the song (The Wonder and Terror of Fortune) are a match for the ecstatic energy of everything else. One listen, and you can tell why this track was chosen as the album closer — it sends the listener out on an enormous high.” – No Clean Singing

“Buried Realm play an eager, galloping sort of melodeath, with lots of speedy leads, upbeat riffs, synthesizers, and solos everywhere. It’s almost as if Blind Guardian enthusiasm and subject matter met up with Scar Symmetry’s love of ambience and melodic-yet-death-y riffs… I commend Buried Realm for their songwriting, performances, and ambition.” – Angry Metal Guy

“Given that The Ichor Carcinoma has so many guests, it stands to reason that it has a diverse sound, ranging from hyper-speed solos, breakdowns, a mixture of screams and clean singing and more, but at the end of the day, it can be classified as an impressive melodic death metal debut.” – Decibel Magazine (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

“Buried Realm sound a whole lot like what you’d expect given the bands whose guest musicians Dummer tapped for the project: aggressive, catchy, Sweden-inspired melodic death metal. If you like all the bands name-checked above, you’re sure to like this one. It’s incredibly well-done and expertly crafted.” – MetalSucks (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

0 Montreal’s Valfreya Sound The Warcall In New Video “Warlords” Off “Promised Land”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 9, 2021

For fans of Wintersun, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Dimmu Borgir

Montreal’s Valfreya Sound The Warcall In New Video “Warlords” Off “Promised Land”

Back in 2017, Montreal, Quebec’s Valfreya released the critically acclaimed “Promised Land”, sending a rush of vicious folk metal around the world. Taking all the jolly melodies from the genre, but then making it faster and more aggressive, Valfreya has been weaving Norse mythology into a familiar, yet original tapestry since 2009.

Now, there is a new music video from the band, for the song “Warlords” off the 2017 release. The video channels all the energy that Valfreya brings to the stage, impactful growling, soaring clean vocals, imaginative solos, and of course, plenty of catchy verses to sing along to. The track “Warlords” is an excerpt from the tale that spans the entire concept album, the journey of Eric The Red. Valfreya goes into detail about the album:

“The album is a journey through a lot of emotions and situations, giving life to a host of varied songs, each with a different sound and personality. The story behind the album is about Eric The Red discovering America and how he defies the Gods, but pays a hefty price for that defiance. It’s a step-up in sound quality and has more intricate guitar parts and better-written music that with every listen you can discover parts you hadn’t noticed before. On top of that, we have an original sound and songs! We want to give more to people that enjoy good riffs!”

The world needs astonishing stories as an outlet for strong emotions now more than ever. In the shape of Montreal’s larger-than-life metal warriors Valfreya, it has them! And in their striking vocalist, it has its Valkyrie!

Valfreya is an orchestral folk metal that will entice listeners of Wintersun, Equilibrium, and Ensiferum.

Watch “Warlords” on YouTube: https://youtu.be/k-KFBRVD80A

“Promised Land” along with the rest of Valfreya’s discography is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, and all online major retailers.

The band is presently working on a new full-length, date of release to be determined.

About:

The world needs heroes now more than ever. In the shape of Montreal’s larger-than-life metal warriors Valfreya, it has them! And in their striking vocalist Crook, they have their own Valkyrie!.

In 2009, vocalist Crook wanted to play something akin to folk metal, but even more aggressive and fast-paced. Combining Valhalla and the Norse goddess Freya, the band has been creating music and lyrics to revolve around stories inspired by Norse mythology.

Orchestral and death metal with a hint of folk music, the prolific Valfreya has unleashed three well-received EPs (‘First Chronicles’, ‘Acoustic Chronicles’, ‘Acoustic Chronicles Part II’), an impressive 2012 debut album entitled ‘Path To Eternity’ via Maple Metal Records and their self-released second ‘Promised Land’ independently on January 13, 2017.

What you hear on the albums is what you get on stage.  They dress in a fantasy-like Viking fashion to go with their story-telling, which gives an interesting visual aspect while delivering the instrument-playing with precision. Since their inception, Valfreya has satisfied fans with their epic live experiences (200+ shows throughout Canada and the USA) where they have opened for bands like Arkona, Dark Tranquility, Nekrogoblikon, Necronomicon, Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Tyr, Insomnium and more!

Valfreya is presently working on their next full-length planned for either late 2021 or early 2022 release.

BIO:

Hailing from Alma Québec, Trollwar combine the best elements of folk, melodic death and black metal into something vital, potent and uniquely their own. Building on the foundations created by the likes of Finntroll and Amon Amarth they forge fiery folky metal that is unique and complex.

Since starting their quest in 2011, they have leveled past their folk roots and have taken a darker, more powerful path becoming more versatile and utilizing more inspiration from bands such as Wintersun and Luca Turilli. The symphonic and power metal elements continue to shine amongst the harshness of the folk and black metal with themes pulled from the works of Tolkien and Lovecraft.

Playing with a myriad of heavy hitters such as Kalmah, Alestorm and Arkona and with an inventory of well-received releases: ‘Bloodshed Forges’ EP (2011); ‘Earthdawn Groves’ LP (2013); and ‘The Traveler’s Path’ EP (2017); Trollwar are working mightily to forge a new LP ‘Oath of the Storm’ for 2018, that will feature their trademark ‘symphony, brutality, darkness, ambiance, and power!’.

“The whole record is an adventure; the sequencing flows well from song to song and is bumpered nicely by an intro that sets the mood, plus an outro that gently brings things to a close, returning the listener safely back to their respective realities. At the end of the day, I definitely think Trollwar is onto something here; they are proudly waving the folk-metal banner and are destined for big things.”

”The vocals are abrasively savage, and the swirling keyboard melody is like ear heroin. I can’t help myself — the song pushes too many buttons for me to resist.” – No Clean Singing

“OATH OF THE STORM has a wave of well-written catchy songs, good production, lots of intensity and power as well, which is something some of the other bands lack. TrollWar is a pretty appropriate name for this enjoyable act and OATH OF THE STORM is one of the more intense Folk Metal albums out this year.” – Metal Rules

“All the songs on this LP are FAR better than anything else I have heard from the band.” – Butterflyman

”the tracks are face smashing and memorable with enough layers to satisfy even the most tech savvy of you folksters”…….”It’s hard to necessarily give you specifics other than multiple layers of instrumentation, blast beats, keys and symphonic touches with shredding guitar and vocals.”- Folk Metal.NL

”Epic, yet down to earth, beautiful yet destructive, these are all things that embody Trollwar” – Two Guys Metal

”The 7-piece band plays a mixture of epic black metal, melodic death metal and folk metal, influenced by the big names of the genre” – Metal Soundscapes

A fierce war party of long term friends with a passion for LARP events and festivals, TROLLWAR consists of Steeve Jobin-Fortin (guitar), Yanick Tremblay (drums), Mathieu Chauvette (guitars), Keven Villeneuve (bass), Simon-Pierre Fortin-Leclerc (vocals) and Jonathan Mathieu (accordion).

Eager to etch their mark on the metal scene, their live shows are full of the brutality and energy that each one of them brings to the stage, albeit often times, in close quarters:

“Live, the listener can expect something epic! 6 metalheads banging their head offs and playing the instrument they like the most. Epic breakdowns and melodies, pretty good entertainment in general. It’s harder to move on the stage when you are 6 and you play in small venues, but don’t fool yourself. It won’t keep the energy from being thrown in your face from the stage.”

Discography:

Oath of the Storm LP (NEW) (2018)
Distrollbar Split (2017)

Omens of Victory Single (2016)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 6, 2017

For fans of Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Windir, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Kalmah, Wintersun

Quebec City Folk Metal NORDHEIM Announce New Year’s Day Concert

Out Now! “RapThor” An Album About Bacon And Dinosaurs

L-R – Warraxe (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Lucas (Drums), Fred (Lead Guitar), Benfok (Bass, Back Vocals)

As 2017 comes to an end and 2018 just around the corner, dungeon and dragons enthusiasts NORDHEIM announce “The New Year of Warriors” New Year’s Day show with Trollwar in Quebec City at L’Anti Bar. The January 1st concert will see the band perform their new album “RapThor” live for the first time. With a simple philosophy of making fun folk metal and good times, the band comments on the upcoming event.

“When we play live it’s a frickin’ party! We move a lot, scream, hump the air, we drink from the fans’ beer bottles and in turn, we feed them beer, with the help of our friends and roadies coming up on stage and pouring beer in their faces. Usually between songs we’ll be making jokes about anything we can think of, as long as it’s dumb and incoherent! We have a strong sense of ‘bro-ness’ with our fans!”

Full details for the event can be found here.

Influenced by bands such as Finntroll, Ensiferum, Kalmah and Wintersun, NORDHEIM‘s latest offering and third studio album “RapThor” was unleashed on November 24th. The album features songs dedicated to the epic flavour of bacon, the colossus power of dinosaurs and more with such titles as “Troll Riding A Raptor”, “Boobs And Bacon” and “Dragonthorn”.

Vocalist / guitarist Warraxe adds about the release:

“Cutting back on the European folklore influences on this one, RapThor is the heaviest and nastiest folk metal albums we have given the fans to date. People who have heard our first two albums will hear the difference. It is super-heavy party music that’s a result of our hard work over the last few years.”

NORDHEIM‘s single “I Wish You Were Beer” can be found streaming at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_deM6zrz6Ak

“RapThor” is now available in digital on iTunes, and on CD at Big Cartel, CD Baby.

1. Troll Riding A Raptor (4:32)
2. Boobs And Bacon (3:30)

“With an album entitled RapThor, these Canadians certainly had my attention. The record turned out to be a hell of a ride through a mystical folk metal world complete with a “Troll Riding a Raptor,” “Boobs and Bacon,” and a track called “I Wish You Were Beer.” There’s a chance these guys are a tad tongue in cheek. Fun record.” – Metal Injection

“purveyors of fine folk metal” – PureGrainAudio

“The band puts it straight: the more beer, the better. Songs like ‘I Wish You Were Beer’ and ‘Boobs And Bacon’ are danceable drinking songs in the vein of Alestorm and Korpiklaani.” – Lords of Metal

” The album, which they released independently, starts with Troll Riding a Raptor a fast and heavy song that really is a kick to the head. The song is a great opener for the album.” Grimm Gent

“I certainly recommend sitting down with a good beverage of your choice and enjoy the boozy, epic, sometimes goofy, but ultimately FUN romp that is Rapthor…will leave you more than satisfied with a great big smile on your face.” – Overdrive Mag

“I might just be crowning the king of the bogs this year with the latest from Canada’s Nordheim…“RapThor” has 8 face smashing tracks in its 40 minutes of playing time. Let your melo-death juices flow as you get pulverized by track after relentless track, fueled by booze and chicks…A triumphant return for Nordheim and an end of the year stocking stuffer for album of the year candidate if I ever saw one… season’s greetings.” – Folk-Metal.nl

“From the very get go, the album packs that punch and releases an infinite energy that vaguely recalls the fastest of Black Metal bands. All the while there’s a subtle folk symph to their battle cries. RapThor feels excited to be here. The clean vocal chants of ‘Troll Riding a Raptor’ have easy hooks and feel fitting amongst the rest of the battling music. The shocking speed of each song dangerously thrusts you from song to song, a great example being ‘Scroll of a Lightning Bolt’ which deliciously speeds through its riffs.” – Noizze UK

“Although this album has stepped up and introduced a heavier side, it’s still fast, and catchy. Guaranteed you’ll be partying by the end of it… and whats more of a party then dinosaurs and beer?” – Canadian Beats

“Finally, the four years of waiting have been worth it. The album in its entirety contains no flaws, eight songs of quality and strongly built. ” – Quebec Metal

Out Now! Quebec City Folk Metal NORDHEIM Unleash “RapThor”

An Album About Bacon And Dinosaurs

NORDHEIM‘s philosophy is a simple one, to make fun folk metal, which is evident in their previous releases “Refill” (2013), “Lost In The North” (2010) plus being Wacken Metal Battle Canada finalists in 2015. Returning in 2017, this quartet of dungeon and dragons enthusiasts is unleashing their latest offering “RapThor”, now available as of November 24th. Influenced by bands such as Finntroll, Ensiferum, Kalmah and Wintersun, NORDHEIM‘s third studio album is eight tracks dedicated to the epic flavour of bacon, the colossus power of dinosaurs and more with such titles as “Troll Riding A Raptor”, “Boobs And Bacon” and “Dragonthorn”.

As the Quebec City band plans show dates for 2018, they wants fans to really know their sense of fun.

“When we play live it’s a frickin’ party!
