NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 14, 2017

For fans of Gojira, Sikth, Mehsuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan, Between The Buried And Me

The Sludgelord Premiere SLAGDUSTER’s ‘Peeping Ron’; New Album ‘Deadweight’ Out May 5th

Isolation has most certainly bred inspiration in the shape of SLAGDUSTER. Hailing from Grand Forks, B.C, the band is name after a slang term local to their area for a piece of machinery that was used in the mines over a hundred years ago.

“We are the only four musicians in our small town driven to form a progressive metal band.” says vocalist Shane Sherman.

Inspired by such giants as Goijira. Sikth, Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan, Between The Buried And Me, SLAGDUSTER offer a progressive, groovy, creative, unique and heavy sound.

It’s been a few years since their debut album ‘Nature.Humanity.Machine’ and SLAGDUSTER is ready to unleash their follow up ‘Deadweight’ due out on May 5th, 2017.

“Naturally our sound has come a long way since our debut release in 2010. The music is more complex, and much more developed, still heavy, but even more groove based. Listeners can expect to be challenged by focusing on the compositions, or lost in the musical landscape.” says vocalist Shane Sherman.

Teaming up with TheSludgelord, SLAGDUSTER is giving fans a taste of what’s to come off ‘Deadweight’ with the exclusive premiere of their first single ‘Peeping Ron’.

The band comments:

“‘Peeping Ron’ encompasses many aspects of our upcoming album ‘Deadweight’. Grooved rhythm, technical riffing, odd time signatures and pummeling vocals are layered over complex drum work seems to be constant theme on this record. Enjoy!”

Listen to ‘Peeping Ron’ by visiting the following link: http://thesludgelord.blogspot.ca/2017/03/track-premiere-slabduster-deliver.html

Like the ancient machine they are named after, SLAGDUSTER work hard to draw art from base material, they’re sound is meticulous and lengthy. All nine of tracks on ‘Deadweight’ have been very slowly and carefully crafted over the years. No songs were scrapped; all were completely revamped continuously for years. SLAGDUSTER put way more effort into collaborative song writing, which has significantly advanced their original sound. Each track contains a variety of things, ranging from ripping riffs and tremolo melodies to soft transitional parts and psychedelic interludes on top of constant heaviness and groove.

Of course, these songs are transformed in SLAGDUSTER’s live show, which vocalist Shane Sherman describes as “high energy, bordering on ridiculous, with offensive banter and annoying antics from an attention hungry front man. Well executed yet fun and light-hearted performances perfected over years of touring.”

“witness their antics and groove metal.” – Beatroute (Live review Armstrong Metalfest 2016)

“this is one seriously cool album — a collection of inventive, head-spinning songs played by four extremely talented musicians.” – No Clean Singing (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)

“Although Slagduster’s music thrives on instrumental variation on themes within each song, with dynamic tempos and even occasional changes in time signature, the songs remain anchored to driving rhythms that organize the jumping, darting complexity of the music.”– No Clean Singing (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)

“This release is oddly appealing, intriguing, a little different and undeniably catchy.
Step outside your comfort zone and give this diverse chunk of metal a spin you may well be surprised as was I. Definite groove, unpredictable melodies all in a style that’s wholly enjoyable.” – Thy Demons Be Scribblin (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)

Rejecting the technical arms race that overwhelms modern metal, Vancouver, BC’sWITCH OF THE WASTE strives to reach new levels of raw intensity while keeping their aesthetic vision close in sight. Unleashing their new EP ‘Made of Teeth’ out today, March 24th to follow up 2013’s debut ‘All Other Voices‘, they offer fast, churning and swelling guitar riffs laid over manic loud drumming topped off with dynamic barking vocals and high otherworldly shrieks. Influences range from Converge, Oathbreaker, and Ulcerate to Sigur Ros and Pink Floyd. Their music is a terrifying exploration and an emotional upheaval that has lead the band to share the stage with such bands as Tesseract, Animals As Leaders, Intronaut, Gorguts, Gojira, Archspire, Anciients, Norma Jean, Fall City Fall, Havok, Cloudkicker, After The Burial and many more.

Vocalist Ryan Fitzgerald comments:

“For us, the lines that exist between hardcore metal and punk are more closely associated with our moods than our tastes. We have always been fans of music in all its forms and we attempted to channel all of that all at once. We wanted each riff to carry that weight. Because of that we feel we have made something very personal to us and we have always felt that artistic expression should always be valued above all else. When you hear ‘Made of Teeth’ you aren’t listening to five guys who wanted to sound like a mix between the Jolly Green Giants and the Shitty Beetles. You are listening to something more primitive and elemental. The way this music was always meant to be.”

‘Made of Teeth’ EP is streaming and available on vinyl and FREE download on the band’s bandcamp here.

5- Lets Say You Have An Axe (2:10)

“They can bludgeon you with brutal force, come at you with a tech element that can make your head spin and then throw you down with the hardest of hardcore.” – BeatRoute BC

“One of the more satisfying aspects of being involved with the local music scene is the opportunity to watch a band persevere and grow. Witch of the Waste is a good example of this, having undergone a subtle metamorphosis in the last few years. While their first EP, All Other Voices, released in early 2013, showed no shortage of promise, their newest effort, Made of Teeth, sees the band refocused in a more refined direction.” – Not Your Scene

“It’s safe to say that local metal band Witch of the Waste have been getting a lot of hype over this past year. They’re playing big shows at big venues with crazy lineups and they’re kicking ass while they do it. ” – Red On Black Music

“Melding together very progressive style riffs with an overall punk type feeling, they remind me most of a Dillinger Escape Plan style. Intensity is the name of the game as their live show pulls no punches. It’s in your face, extreme and the crowd eats it right up. Shows with these dudes can get downright violent, which fits the music extraordinarily well.” – Gun Shy Assassin

“An impressive debut for a band with a lot of potential….The band does a great job of balancing heaviness and technicality without letting one side overpower the other….With an engaging debut like All Other Voices to get them started, the future is bright for Witch of the Waste and they are definitely a band to keep an eye on in the coming years.” (Review of 2013 All Other Voices EP) – Sputnik Music
