Romania’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf  Breathe Secret Wars Through New Music Video “Bellicose”

Video Premiere via IDIOTEQ

New Album “Bellicose” Out Now!

“Bellicose” is the sonic representation of furious anger aimed at the clashing worlds that keep colliding onto us, turning us into feral beasts, nurturing the darkest of wishes, bidding serenity a sickening farewell. It is the title track of the 2020 album from Romania’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf and they are now presenting it in video form.

According to the band, “Bellicose” was recorded back in 2018, but it was such an anthemic song for them, that they included it twice on the album, in both electric and acoustic versions where it boosts the overall theme, “the rage that can rise up inside each and every one of us”. They further explain the meaning behind the song:

“It’s a renewed struggle to face off the world of the living by singing about our dead hopes and tribulations. The only salvation anyone really has, when they’re a kid trapped in an adult body, trying to be a citizen of the world or even a society, is the inspiration to create such worlds where you can be the victor or at least be honest with yourself, by screaming your fears, anger, and frustration out loud.”

The Boy Who Cried Wolf makes angry music they claim is medicinal for them, and they hope it will be like a pill to swallow for fans when they feel like they have lost their grip on serenity. The band is heavy-hitting hardcore recommended for people who enjoy processing their problems through music and fans of Every Time I Die, Cancer Bats, and Brand New.

Watch the video for “Bellicose” via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

The album “Bellicose” was released on December 12, 2020 and available at TBWCW.bandcamp.com.

About:
The Boy Who Cried Wolf started when two local bands (CHESTER and Breathelast) from Bucharest collided. Bogdan Purghel “Bacovia” (guitar/bass/vocals) and Mihai Ionut Andrei (vocals) reached out to drummer Alexandru Guta (PZFI, Backstage Hero) to give it a sincere go at writing wild and fast-paced music that would satiate their primal desires. They are heavily inspired by old-school metal combined with hardcore and punk vibes although other sounds may occur.

Diner Drugs from Moncton, Canada have been nominated for an East Coast Music Award for Loud Recording of The Year for their 2019 album “As Is” recorded by Kyle MacDonald of Zaum. It is the band’s first full-length that follows their 2017 self-titled debut EP.

The four-piece stoner metal punk crew was born out of a desire to defeat the boredom of east coast living. Diner Drugs is fast, loud and is always keen to turn up the heat with catchy choruses and deep vocal harmonies while sticking to their deep stoner metal roots.

They’ve developed a reputation for their live performances plus lending east coast support to bands such as Cancer Bats, Red Fang, Dead Quiet and Mokomokai along with touring the Maritimes, Ontario and Quebec several times.

Jackson Landry (Guitar/Vocals) comments on their ECMA nomination:

“We are very stoked to be a part of this year’s nominees and being nominated for an ECMA for the first time is extra exciting for the entire band. It means a lot to us to be nominated with such a great group of folks including two fellow New Brunswick Bands (Hero’s Last Rite and SoundDrown). We appreciate everyone’s support so much and we hope by the time May rolls around we are all actually able to make the trek to Sydney, NS to be a part of this year’s awards/festival.”

ECMA Nominees – Loud Recording of The Year:
Diner Drugs – As Is
Hero’s Last Rite – Behind the Darkest Days
Sonic Detour – Sonic Detour
Sound Drown – Selfish Reasons
WinterheartH – Riverbed Empire

“Jack Of All Trades” uses clever drum timing between guitar riffs which assaults the senses in different ways and rattles your eardrums like an off-balanced washing machine. The skate punk style writing of this track will have you wondering if NOFX and Suicidal Tendencies had a baby.” – Sarah Hellingwerf, The East

“Diner Drugs is one of those “f&*k all” bands that play heavy, fast and dirty rock.” – Jamie Robash, Divide and Conquer Music

Oozing with rock n roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal, QC, Canada. The 2019 “En Route To Heavy Montreal Champions” are a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, who recently released their debut album “Making Out With My Death” this past June.

As a whole, Junkowl‘s debut album“Making Out With My Death” is a slow dark ride. Heavy riffs; big dirty bass lines, in your face drums and gut-wrenching screams telling tales of self-loathing, confusion, and intoxication. This is a solid album, something to enjoy with a few beers, smoke a joint, and bang your head off for 30 minutes.

And speaking of in your face drums, today, Junkowl‘s drummer Dominic Labrie is sharing with fans his playthrough video for the track “Snakecharmer”. The track itself is about thinking you’re possessed by demons and trying to kill them, only to realize that the demons were actually just your own evil manifesting in your head.

Labrie adds:

“It was hard for me to pick a song to play off our album because I like them all. I picked “Snakecharmer” because it has a solid intro, a good flow and I really enjoy playing the heavy outro.”

Watch the drum playthrough via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

About:

Heavy, sexy, and southern. Those are the best words to describe Montreal’s Junkowl.

Formed in 2017, their unique blend of groove metal, stoner, and hardcore is matched with high energy ‘in your face’ performances. A year earlier Jesse Frechette (vocals) met Dom Labrie (drums) and after a few jams they picked up Marco Larosa (guitar) and Samuel Matte (bass) and the rest is history. The writing process is a collaborative one, with melodies and vocals usually forming on the spot.

Moving through the underground music scene, Junkowl quickly made a name for themselves when they won the 2019 ‘En Route Vers Heavy Montreal’; a competition between nearly 200 bands, landing them a spot at that year’s edition of renowned metal festival Heavy Montreal.

On June 5th, 2020, they will release their debut album, “Making Out With My Death”, a 10 track record full of sultry and powerful songs about past regrets and self-destructive behaviour. It includes the band’s favourite “10,000 Vultures”, the first song Junkowl ever wrote, which was completed after the first jam together. Almost all the lyrics were freestyle during that jam.

With no sign of slowing down, Junkowl has more tunes in the works and pouring passion into their live performances and newly recorded tunes. Stay tuned for party animal blues; fat spliffs and heavy riffs.

“2019 Winners of En Route to Heavy Montreal”

“The dirty, fat Stoner Sludge Metal riff of “Snakecharmer” is one designed to be accompanied by a beer and the gut-wrenching roar of “blow your brains out, blow my brains out” that brings it to it to its unnatural conclusion will no doubt be chanted by audiences across all lands as the band hit the road.” – Metal Noise

“Montreal hardcore rock n rollers Junkowl have released their new single ‘Quarantine Us All’, a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groove metal. It’s ferocious and relentless from the offset, even when it veers out of hardcore territory and into the sludgier moments. It even has some technical moments, although they certainly borrow heavily from their influences (namely Every Time I Die and Cancer Bats) it is a banger in it’s own right, and given some time to breathe and develop I think this band could bring something monumental to the table.” – Backseat Mafia

““Quarantine Us All” – Montreal’s southern rock infused metallers JUNKOWL drop new venomous track” – Idioteq

“the group combines very heavy stoner riffs with the energy of punk rock and hardcore. A group to discover absolutely.” – Mad Breizh

“this Montreal band is a whole other thing. Junkowl deals in a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, which has been called ‘party animal blues’. Which makes their debut album “Making Out With My Death” coming June 5, such a curveball.” – Cashbox Canada

“they’ve made a name for themselves in the ol’ Heavy Metal City™ with their energetic performances. And you know they have what it takes, since they won this year’s En Route Vers Heavy and literally earned their spot to perform. So technically speaking, this is gonna be an award-winning performance!” – Forget The Box (Heavy Montreal 2019 preview)

“I had the pleasure of being a judge at En Route Vers Heavy and these guys were my number one choice. I am so happy they won and got to follow their dream. They fucking destroyed.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

Oozing with rock n roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal, QC, Canada. The 2019 “En Route To Heavy Montreal Champions” are a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, who recently released their debut album “Making Out With My Death” on June 5th.

While the band has been under lockdown like many others, they were able to get together to record a new off the floor acoustic version of their track “Crawling Up My Feet”. The track is a stripped-down version of a song about “falling in love with someone when you’re depressed or struggling with addiction, and essentially about how it’s pretty much impossible to love someone properly when you don’t love yourself” and truly showcases the raw emotion it projects.

Watch the video via its premiere on V13.net HERE.

And check out the music video for the song HERE.

The band comments:

“We’re really excited for this album to drop and for people to be able to listen to our music in a different way, and of course to have the opportunity to reach out to a larger audience. We just hope people have as much fun listening to this record as they do coming to our shows. That’s the goal anyway.”

Oozing with rock n roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal, QC, Canada. A slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, the band’s debut album “Making Out With My Death” is due out June 5, 2020.

Today, the 2019 “En Route To Heavy Montreal Champions” are ready to reveal the second single ‘Quarantine Us All’, a very fitting track to match the current times as the world deals with the Coivid 19 pandemic. The song itself is about feeling like you have nothing positive to offer and feeling that the ones you love would be better off if you we’re not around.

To listen to ‘Quarantine Us All’, please visit Idioteq.com for its premiere HERE.

As a whole, “Making Out With My Death” is a slow dark ride. Heavy riffs; big dirty bass lines, in your face drums and gut-wrenching screams telling tales of self-loathing, confusion, and intoxication. This is a solid album, something to enjoy with a few beers, smoke a joint, and bang your head off for 30 minutes. Vocalist Jesse Frechette explains the lyrical content on the album:

“Most of my lyrics are about past regrets or self-destructive behaviour. Kind of indulging in negative thoughts and emotions. A lot of them were written while I was wasted. I like to think that the next album will have a much different lyrical theme but hey, old habits die hard.”

For fans of Cancer Bats, Every Time I Die, and Underoath, “Making Out With My Death” is available for pre-order HERE.

Oozing with rock n roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal. A slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, this is party animal blues. Expect their debut album “Making Out With My Death” on June 5, 2020.

As a whole, the album is a slow dark ride.

This gritty take on real-life issues is confronted with the video form single ‘Crawling Up My Feet’, a song about “falling in love with someone when you’re depressed or struggling with addiction, and essentially about how it’s pretty much impossible to love someone properly when you don’t love yourself.”

For fans of Cancer Bats, Every Time I Die, and System of a Down; the video for ‘Crawling Up My Feet’ can be watched via its premiere on Lambgoat HERE.

Music Video ‘The Sons of Plenty’

ALL ELSE FAILS’ new EP ‘The Forever Lie’ just doesn’t mark the band’s follow up to their 2013 award winning EP ‘Fucktropolis’, it celebrates their existence for the last 10 years annihilating Canadians from coast to coast along with their recent first international tour of India where they performed at the Unmaad Fest and the Alcheringa Fest (tour diary on Decibel Magazine here).

Also in celebration of AEF’s 10 years, the original line-up will be reuniting for the band’s CD launch show in Edmonton, AB on Feb 18th at The Forge on Whyte (info) to give local fans an exclusive night to remember.  For those who can’t be there to hear ‘The Forever Lie’ live, ALL ELSE FAILS have teamed up with PureGrainAudio.com for the full stream at the following link: http://puregrainaudio.com/audio/stream-the-new-all-else-fails-ep-the-forever-lie-now-exclusive-premiere

“ALL ELSE FAILS have a surprise for everyone this Saturday! To celebrate our 10 year anniversary, the Original AEF lineup is going to get together for the first time since 2009 to play a few songs off our old albums! We may be older, we may be fatter, we may be dumber, but we definitely have more tattoos. I also want to mention, we literally couldn’t have done it without our fans support during the crowdfund campaign that made this all possible. I think it’s our best disc yet, and can’t wait to hear what you all think.”
