Since 2009, Canada’s Valfreya has been honing their sound bringing in elements from black metal, and folk metal with touches of symphonic metal to create powerful music that has been heard around the world. With an impressive five albums already under their belts, they are gearing up for the sixth “Dawn of Reckoning”, coming out on May 24, 2024. A formidable concept album that tells of the goddess Hel striking back at humanity, it is a gritty, aggressive journey into mythology. The band comments on the second single “Le Périple” (“The Journey”), which is being released now in lyric video form:

“This album marks a significant evolution in our sound. While our earlier works leaned heavily on joyful and folkloric elements, “Dawn of Reckoning” takes on a symphonic blackened death metal approach. Prepare for a relentless onslaught of vulgar, belligerent punk, sludge, and sweat as Ivy Gardens, the sonic architects of chaos, emerge from the shadows of Niagara, Ontario to tour across Eastern Canada this coming May 2024 (dates listed below) in support of their forthcoming first full-length album “Goon”, arriving on April 19, 2024. Brace yourself for an immersive experience as the band delivers a nearly endless stream of beaten-to-hell drums, searing organs, throbbing bass synths, and a liquid wall of guitar sludge, which is showcased in their recently released first single and music video “Boner”.

“Opening with a relaxed groove that builds and builds to the heaviest possible climax, Boner has been a major highlight of our live set since it was introduced. Following the more relaxed pacing of the song, the softer vocal performance less seen in our music tells of a (seemingly) simple disagreement between two bitter individuals. Its bridge, the “101010” dirge, is by far the heaviest composition we have achieved to date, and we are so excited to finally send it out into the world.” adds the band.

Combining the anthemic melodies of traditional and power metal, the precise, aggressive attack of thrash, and twists of dark intensity borrowed from second-wave black metal, Jersey, USA’s Mindrazer plays a style as familiar as it is fresh. Their first full-length, “A Thing of Nightmares” is a bold, brutal, and diverse exploration of melodic thrash metal, which even before its official release, was igniting mosh pits at the band’s live shows. The writing for the tracks on the album spans a large period of evolution, which can be heard as one progresses through the album. “Knightfall”, the earliest work, is much more power metal, upbeat, and melodic. “Better Dead”, another early song, is very riff-focused and old-school sounding. “Crusader” and “Suffer In Silence”, the later tracks on the record are great examples of how that power metal vibe never really left but the music got heavier and more technical. IMMORTAL GUARDIAN has released their latest video for the title track off their new album ‘Unite And Conquer’ released by M-Theory Audio for North America on October 27th as well as Asia via a licensing deal with Ward Records and will be available from Massacre Records on December 1st on Vinyl and CD.

A masterclass of progressive and power metal, ‘Unite and Conquer,’ like its hailed and successful predecessor 2021’s ‘Psychosomatic’ was written and recorded by the band themselves with credit going to guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian and bassist Joshua Lopez, who also mixed the album at his Widowmaker Studios. They enlisted the help of artist/photographer Masiha Fattahi (Threshold) with further design work by Jobert Mello (Sabaton, Primal Fear, Acid Reign), as well as guest vocals by Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear, Gamma Ray) and Vicky Psarakis (The Agonist, Sicksense) to create a stellar new album.

“We definitely took a new direction with our writing process and overall sound on the new album. We tried some new things Immortal Guardian has never done, but also kept a taste of our classic sound in the process,” explains Gabriel Guardian. “We were all going through some crazy experiences in our lives while making this album and I think it really reflects in the music. As we did during our ‘Psychosomatic’ album, we were writing these songs in real time as we lived through these major events in the world and in our personal lives.”

Created in 2001 in Quebec, Canada, Strigampire has been recognized over the years for its eloquence and the energy coming out from each of its frantic live performances. Over two decades of hard work culminated last year when they entered the studio with producer Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy) to record their highly anticipated third full-length album “All To Dominate”. The first look at the album is with the single “Liberty”, which addresses the psychological and emotional consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Vocalist Steve DC explains:

“This song kicks off the album, brilliantly capturing the variety of moods that unfold through our melodies. Although precise labeling of metal styles and subgenres isn’t my forte, I would say it starts with a fast and thrashy riff, subtly guiding us towards powerful and rock-oriented sections, an evolution we increasingly incorporate into our songs. Then, a guitar solo in Johnny Dead’s style emerges, followed by a bridge that quickly returns us to the initial atmosphere, concluding with a warrior-like riff that urges one to wreak havoc all around!”

Earlier this year, after 3 years of no performances and adding new members, the band made a triumphant return to the stage and emerged Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2023 Champions garnering a spot at the legendary festival Wacken Open Air.

“All To Dominate” features 10 tracks, including 9 new original songs and one cover. Strigampire didn’t have a surplus of additional songs to include on the album, so they selected the ones with the most potential and worked diligently to complete them. The result is an album that is melancholic, unique, and powerful. It is recommended for fans of Dark Tranquillity, Children Of Bodom, Arch Enemy, and At The Gates.
