Known for their gritty, in-your-face sound, Turbo has once again delivered a raw and powerful collection of tracks that will leave listeners begging for more. Like your disheveled uncle on Christmas morning, Turbo is trashed, pissed off, and sick of your shit, bringing an intensity and energy that is unmatched in today’s music scene. “‘Broke and Ugly’ is our second testament to the ups and downs of the rock-and-roll lifestyle, and it comes in swingin’ HARD. The music is raw, greasy, and mean; but it’s also tight, coordinated, and flashy. The cover depicts a dive-bar nightmare bathroom, filled with Easter eggs from Turbo‘s previous songs and a green hand grabbing for some shit-tickets from a busted-ass urinal. It’s a fitting visual for an album that promises to be a grimy slab of thrash, sleazy, and louder than anything you’ve heard before. Denver-based power metal outfit Siege Perilous has once again ignited the flames of epic storytelling with their newest single “Sons of the Verdant”, which comes from their second EP “Creation’s Call” slated for an August 2024 release. Influenced by LARP, historical events, and fantasy literature, the single is sure to grab the attention of listeners across the metal spectrum. The band comments:

“This song has an interesting combination of dark and triumphant. The story is a fantasy version of a story we see repeated throughout history, that of native resistance to colonizing oppressors. One of the cool things about fantasy is the ability to take these universal themes and be able to apply them without having to point at one group of people and borrow their story, especially since there are so many instances of it from Antiquity to Modern Day.”

The band goes on to explain that this is probably one of their most musically complex songs, featuring longer and more varied instrumental sections, having vocals be almost more of a punchy accent than the driving force, hitting at the right times while really letting the amazing instrumentalists in the band rock out.

Set to enrapture audiences with its fantastical lyrics and thunderous guitar riffs, “Sons of the Verdant” invites listeners into realms of adventure and wonder. It is highly recommended for fantasy fans and those with an interest in Sabaton, Manowar, and Iron Maiden.

Prepare for an auditory descent into the abyss as Shroud of Despondency, from Michigan, USA, unveils their latest offering – a split with LanzerRath that is a true display of unrelenting cosmic black metal. This collaboration amplifies the intensity of Shroud of Despondency‘s sonic landscape, delving into the cosmic realms of negative energy that wreak havoc on creation wherever it manifests. Founder and multi-instrumentalist Rory Heikkila comments on the split:

“Shroud of Despondency prides itself on being unpredictable and remains concerned only with the artistic process. While previous albums have focused primarily on dying, death, entropy, and the despair that comes with life, in its current state it is taking a more science-fiction approach to these topics. LanzerRath has been supportive of Shroud of Despondency in the past and I approached them about the idea of a split when I realized their music was good and they were also from Michigan. We were both, oddly enough, interested in doing something around the idea of cosmic terror, and the collaboration kind of just happened from that.”

Heikkila’s journey with Shroud of Despondency began as a means of coping with personal loss and paying homage to black metal influences. Despite a hiatus from 2004-2011, the project resurged with live performances and prolific recording sessions in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Since 2015, Heikkila and Blemberg, both hailing from Michigan but based in Milwaukee, have maintained a steady output of music, characterized by their unpredictable, dark, and emotionally charged compositions.

Heikkila adds that this split and an upcoming full length continue what was started on 2016’s full length, “Of Origin, Conflict, and Recurrence”, in that it sees these negative energies as taking physical form in host bodies and wreaking havoc. The split is recommended for fans of Enslaved, Root, and Thorns.

Since 2009, Canada’s Valfreya has been honing their sound bringing in elements from black metal, and folk metal with touches of symphonic metal to create powerful music that has been heard around the world. With an impressive five albums already under their belts, they are gearing up for the sixth “Dawn of Reckoning”, coming out on May 24, 2024. Prepare for a relentless onslaught of vulgar, belligerent punk, sludge, and sweat as Ivy Gardens, the sonic architects of chaos, emerge from the shadows of Niagara, Ontario to tour across Eastern Canada this coming May 2024 (dates listed below) in support of their forthcoming first full-length album “Goon”, arriving on April 19, 2024. Brace yourself for an immersive experience as the band delivers a nearly endless stream of beaten-to-hell drums, searing organs, throbbing bass synths, and a liquid wall of guitar sludge, which is showcased in their recently released first single and music video “Boner”.

“Opening with a relaxed groove that builds and builds to the heaviest possible climax, Boner has been a major highlight of our live set since it was introduced. Following the more relaxed pacing of the song, the softer vocal performance less seen in our music tells of a (seemingly) simple disagreement between two bitter individuals. Its bridge, the “101010” dirge, is by far the heaviest composition we have achieved to date, and we are so excited to finally send it out into the world.” adds the band.

Combining the anthemic melodies of traditional and power metal, the precise, aggressive attack of thrash, and twists of dark intensity borrowed from second-wave black metal, Jersey, USA’s Mindrazer plays a style as familiar as it is fresh. Their first full-length, “A Thing of Nightmares” is a bold, brutal, and diverse exploration of melodic thrash metal, which even before its official release, was igniting mosh pits at the band’s live shows. Now, with the album’s availability, fans can delve into the depths of these tracks and experience them in all their glory.

The writing for the tracks on the album spans a large period of evolution, which can be heard as one progresses through the album. “Knightfall”, the earliest work, is much more power metal, upbeat, and melodic. “Better Dead”, another early song, is very riff-focused and old-school sounding. “Crusader” and “Suffer In Silence”, the later tracks on the record are great examples of how that power metal vibe never really left but the music got heavier and more technical. Each of the ten tracks offers epic melodies and frenetic dynamics that metalheads will be eager to sink their teeth into.

Canadian 80’s-infused heavy metal band THUNDEROR announces they will be embarking on their next European tour this coming May 2024 with Italy’s Tytus (dates listed below).

Formed in 2020 by Skull Fist band members JJ Tartaglia and Jonny Nesta, THUNDEROR delivers hook-driven anthems to the caliber that has come to be expected by a Canadian power trio. Since 2019, drummer JJ Tartaglia has felt a calling, one which grew stronger each day. Being a member of several prominent metal bands over the last decade, the time had come to take his quest even further. He would share a vision, a feeling… a message he could deliver only with his voice.

Fueled by his passion for adventure, JJ began to work on drum arrangements and piano pieces that would become the skeletons of the THUNDEROR songs. Fall of 2021, would see the release of the 1st single “How We Roll”, immediately garnering a worldwide audience. Featuring seven tracks, the full-length takes listeners through the emotions of a struggling bleeding heart at the end of a tumultuous relationship. Musically, it’s a fusion of high-energy grooves with timeless melodies.

“‘Ways To Hate’ features previous re-recorded tracks from their 2021 debut EP “Killing Me” along with a few new songs such as “What I Needed”, “Bounce” and the title track “Ways To Hate” to complete the seven-song album that we want to get your blood pumping and moshing in the pit.
