0 Vancouver’s CRNKSHFT New Music Video “Innocence”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 21, 2021

For fans of 5FDP, Breaking Benjamin, Bad Wolves, Alter Bridge, Stone Sour

Vancouver’s CRNKSHFT New Music Video “Innocence”

L-R – Geoff Way – Guitar, Andrew Wishart – Drums, Shane Jolie – Vocals, Eric Jolicoeur – Bass

Vancouver’s CRNKSHFT have a new single out, the punchy, invigorating “Innocence”, mixed and mastered by Kane Churko (Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch). This track is the first in a series of singles that they are releasing in an attempt to gain radio traction before committing to a full-length record.

Lyrically, the song itself taps into the idea that in a world of cancel culture, no one is truly innocent and harps on this fact by asking people, “Are we all so innocent?”. Musically, the band tells fans to expect “devastation”. They continue to explain:

“Turn everything you loved about us up to 10. We have changed through the years, but the core of our style will always be the same; we write with dark topics and heavy guttural crunch, and tempo shifts. Fans that have been with us for awhile can hear the changes, but it always has that CRNKSHFT vibe.

We like to also thank Ryan Van Poederooyen (DTP, Imonolith) for laying down the epic drum track for our new single! When our drummer at the time left right before we wanted to start recording Innocence, we were in an obvious bind. Luckily, he left us with a decent demo track for the single and as it turns out we had another stroke of luck with Ryan ready to go at The Armoury Studios in Vancouver.”

The single is prime radio rock, hard enough to satisfy headbangers and catchy enough to be a listener’s first foray into the heavier side of music. Listeners can expect passionate emotional swings, combined with an explosion of energy.

The band recently released a music video for “Innocence”, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/zMbFCw3Ic3k

Looking to start a band that flowed between genres and refused to be pigeonholed, CRNKSHFT released their first EP “Heavy F***ing Rock” in 2012, which was followed by a self-titled EP in 2016. This new single is the first release since then, but there will be more to come. When CRNKSHFT returns to the stage, fans can expect “Face Melting Hard F*ing Rock”.

CRNKSHFT is recommended for fans of Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin, and Bad Wolves.

“Innocence” is available on all digital platforms at https://crnkshft.hearnow.com/

About:
CRNKSHFT is an explosive band composed of five musicians from Vancouver, Canada. The band is setting the scene ablaze with its explosive, drop tune aggression with melody at its core.

Influenced by bands like Alice In Chains, Pantera, Metallica, Nirvana and Godsmack, CRNKSHFT have carved out a sound in the vein of Five Finger Death Punch, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, and Alexisonfire, that gives them a refreshing sound that’s forges these genres together. Their riffs are designed to get your blood pulsing, their dynamics get your fist-pumping, and the melody keeps you singing along.

Since the band’s formation in 2015, CRNKSHFT’s engine has been firing on all cylinders with their debut EP ‘Hard F***ing Rock’ released in 2015 plus being tapped as local support for such touring bands as Prong, Grim Reaper, Lordi and The Veer Union. The wrecking crew then unleashed their self-titled EP in August 2017 produced by Darren Grahn (Metallica, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi) which allowed the formation to embark on a Tour that took the 5 members from Vancouver to Montreal.

CRNKSHFT has been Nominated for Break Out West – Hard Rock Band of the year 2018, and then started working on new material, which lead to the recording process of the new single Innocence, which was mixed and mastered by Kane Churko.

“For an EP this has four very powerful tracks attached to it and demands your attention; Do yourself a favour and listen!” – Ram Zine

“Their sound gets the feet tapping, the head banging and it is easy to sing along to the choruses.” – Sentinel Daily

“these guys have a running start to the hard rock scene, and if their message and sound stays in their current vein, there’s no denying that this band will put a crankshaft kick-start to this year’s list of burgeoning, fantastic new artists” – Shockwave Mag

“The four track offering is an imposing roar of hungry and varied metal but equally shows a blaze of hard and melodic rock n’ roll, a trait even more compelling in the successor to their previous well-received debut EP helping stir up a very healthy appetite for the band’s fierce and rousing attack.” – The RingMaster Review

“the four tracks are full of grunge influences and a killer metal delirium that will capture your heart ,and ignite your mind. “Systematic” kicks the release off in fine style ,with its bludgeoning , punishing riffs its easy to see why this was the band’s first single, the lead guitars strings are flayed as the guys will have you banging your head and bouncing around the room this is a stylistic killer opener.” – The Metal Meltdown

“Though the album is short, I found myself repeating it numerous times and jamming out each time. I highly recommend it if you’re a fan of punk, metal, hardcore or any heavy genre. There is a bit for everyone in it. I guarantee you will be screaming, drumming and playing your air guitar to it. The guys are not going to be stopping anytime soon.” – Canadian Beats

“Wow wow WOW!!!!!!!This is amazing!!!! What a great track! It just ripped my face off! – Sylvia Massy (producer for Tool, System Of A Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers)

“I have always said I wish I had “one of those tracks” under my belt. You know, the track that you could play for really anybody; a kid, a peer, a heavy musician, a producer, someone whom you’d like to impress for whatever reason, anybody… that is the track for me. Great writing, tons of energy, unapologetic, dynamics, intent, world class production, all parts are so strong, title and guitar hook so memorable.” – Tony Ferraro (drummer for Trooper, Fear Zero,) about the Single “Systematic”

“Great band ! Sounds pretty heavy. Intro riff is killer” – Cory Churko (guitar player for kelly Clarkson, Shania Twain) about the Single “Systematic”

“You Guys are the first real band I have seen in three years, when you came on stage I was like, F*** ya, you guys are a band”… When I approach a label they ask me ‘are these guys stars?’,  I’m going to tell them these guys are stars.”
– Tommy Mac (Bass Player for Hedley/BigFatScratch/Flybanger/Everything After)

Destroy Demons To Motion Device Drummer’s Cover Of “Cultist Base” From Doom Eternal

The Doom video game franchise has been going strong for almost 30 years, and the adrenaline-packed stomp through hell has one of the most aggressive, recognizable soundtracks to gamers across the globe. Motion Device’s drummer David Menoudakis has taken the world-renowned carnage and warped it into a new form as a drum cover presented on his YouTube channel DrumsByDavid.

On his channel, Menoudakis covers “Cultist Base” from Doom Eternal (2020) combining his drum playing with unique visuals that sets it apart from other drum covers. The video also includes gameplay and extra visual effects adding to the underworld chaos. Menoudakis comments on the video:

“I chose the track because Doom has been one of my favourite games for a long time and the soundtrack (composed by Mick Gordon) is just legendary with gamers who love heavy soundtracks like myself. I put out drum covers on a weekly basis and really enjoy all the tunes and fan requests, but this kind of video allows me to showcase what I can do technically as a drummer and also as a video editor which is something I’m getting into a lot more lately. I’m also learning a lot about sound so pushing the audio boundaries as much as possible is really important to me – I want viewers to hear a great, quality audio mix when they watch one of my drum videos. I really enjoyed putting this together and I plan on doing a lot more of it in the near future.”

Menoudakis plays in the Toronto-based progressive band Motion Device with two of his siblings and their cousin. To date, they have put out four albums so far and received recognition from many big name musicians like Steve Vai, the Scorpions and Alice Cooper to name a few.

“Cultist Base” is recommended for heavy music aficionados and gamers alike, especially those who enjoy Carpenter Brut, Black Crown Initiate, and Ministry.

About:
Motion Device is an independent hard rock band from Canada led by vocalist Sara Menoudakis, along with Josh Marrocco on guitar, Andrea Menoudakis on bass/keys, and David Menoudakis on drums.

The formation of the band just seemed to fall into place between the Menoudakis siblings, and their cousin Marrocco. Each member played a key instrument and shared similar musical tastes and inspirations. After starting out as a cover band, they slowly but surely found themselves writing, recording and producing their own music and once that began there was no looking back.

Motion Device has enjoyed recognition since their cover band days including receiving a huge standing ovation at Canada’s Got Talent auditions in 2011 only to be cut just before the live shows because the producers did not want to pay for music royalty rights of the songs they were covering (Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’ and Ozzy’s ‘Crazy Train’). They also received a huge boost in their early days when Ronnie James Dio’s social media team shared the band’s Youtube cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Heaven and Hell’.

Motion Device has 4 albums out, “Welcome to the Rock Revolution” (2014); “Eternalize” (2015); “Wide Awake” (2017), and “MDIV” (2020). The most recent one was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by the band in their own fan-funded recording studio. Thanks to crowdfunding, all of their albums have been completely funded by fans from all over the globe. With over 100,000 social media fans and more than 20 million views on their Youtube channel, they’re quickly becoming one of the brightest up and coming bands in North America.

“Canadian rockers Motion Device turned a series of viral video hits into dedicated fans who are helping them make the music they love.” – Metal Hammer

“Their young age and gender diversity gives them a fresh and unique perspective on the industry, one that doesn’t romanticize the rock and roll of the past. They’re taking DIY, punk rock ethics and applying it to the current music industry, allowing them to find success on their own terms.” – Huffington Post

Canada’s Motion Device have a new music video out for their single “Blindfold It Away”. The single comes from their recent album, “Motion Device IV” (or ‘MDIV’ for short), which was released on September 4, 2020. This is the fourth album from the DIY band who recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered the album by themselves in a studio that was completely crowdfunded by fans around the world.

With a vision of taking fans on a journey, through their music, they encompass all emotions, happiness, sadness, joy, anger, excitement, “MDIV” is an emotional roller coaster that is easy to connect to. The band explains the single in their own words:

“The beginning riff was the very first piece of music that began the writing process for the album. Josh first recorded the guitar arrangement, then sent it to David and Andrea and before you knew it they were jamming it out together. It was also the song that set our vocalist Sara on a brand new path of lyrical writing that was the start of the most writing Sara had done on any album up to this point. Her lyrics and the band’s progressive sound can be heard throughout this new album and if there’s one song that encompasses who Motion Device is, this is it!”

From soft to heavy, slow to fast, dreamy to raw, the song is pure Motion Device! They have a ‘new school’ progressive rock sound while still keeping some classic metal vibes to it.

Take A Glimpse Into Stark Reality With Abandoned Souls’ Video For “Blinding Darkness”

L-R: Derek De Kort (Guitar) | James Todd (Vocals) | Tom Dobrentey (Drums) | Reagan Thorne (Bass)

Canada’s Abandoned Souls released their powerful and emotional single “Blinding Darkness” on October 9, 2020 and now to complement it they are releasing a music video for it.

While most of the band’s music comes from a personal place, “Blinding Darkness” is especially meaningful to the band. It was written shortly after vocalist James Todd went through the heartbreaking experience of losing his mother. This is the first new music they have released since the last EP in 2017. The band explains the writing process for the single in their own words:

“We started tracking for Blinding Darkness towards the end of 2019. Then in early 2020 as we are all aware, the world changed. That put a huge wrench in our plans so, like everyone we had to adapt. We already had drums and bass tracked for Blinding Darkness. Derek recorded all his guitars at his home and sent me the tracks to re-amp thru his amp here at the studio. I also recorded all the vocals during the pandemic shutdown. Luckily, I own the studio and had lots of time to mix and refine the song during this time. It is the first release from the new Foundation Studio and we are super excited for everyone to hear it!”

Heavy and aggressive but not sacrificing melody, Abandoned Souls have been honing their craft since they started jamming as friends over a decade ago. Staying true to their sound, the video is uplifting and heavy and puts a positive spin on the dark subject matter.

Citing that it has been a long road to get to the point where they are at, Abandoned Souls is hoping the release of this single will tide fans over until the world gets back to a sense of normalcy and shows can begin again.

Hard rock n’ roll fans will take a liking to Abandoned Souls, especially fans of Godsmack, Three Days Grace, and Alice in Chains.

The video for “Blinding Darkness” can be viewed at the following link on YouTube.

The single is available for stream on Spotify and download on Apple Music.

About:

There is power in a band’s name, like a magic spell, announcing to the world what they are and what they stand for. ABANDONED SOULS summons up images of Milton’s ‘Paradise Lost’, heroic outcasts rising up against impossible odds, to establish their own unique identity.

As vocalist James Todd explains:

“The name Abandoned Souls is in reference to all those people out there that have at one time or another felt like the outcast. That common bond and love for this music are what brings all of us Abandoned Souls together.”

Having played together for years, the bonds that hold ABANDONED SOULS together are… to paraphrase the mighty Judas Priest…Canadian Steel! Abandoned Souls Cast A Light On Reality With Single “Blinding Darkness”

L-R: Derek De Kort (Guitar) | James Todd (Vocals) | Tom Dobrentey (Drums) | Reagan Thorne (Bass)

Canada’s Abandoned Souls will be releasing their new single “Blinding Darkness” on October 9, 2020 with a video soon to follow.

With the release of “Blinding Darkness”, the band is excited to share with fans their blend of powerful and personal music inspired by life experiences. For the year 2020, it’s absolutely the right song at the right time. The lyrics for this song were written shortly after James Todd’s mother passed away, and he channeled his thoughts during that dark time into the music. He explains the meaning of the song in his own words:

“The song is about facing the reality of death or dark times and dealing with it. It’s also learning to maneuver through the darkness and finding a way to be more comfortable within that space. To realize that you need to face it head-on sometimes and learn how to live and prosper from the experience of getting through these times.”

As the cliché goes, “there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.”, Abandoned Souls shows strength and pushes through, finding that light and marching towards it. Given the current state of the world, this encouragement to overcome obstacles is pertinent as ever.

Abandoned Souls have amassed a respectable discography since 2006 including four full-length albums and an EP. As their name partly implies, they write hard-hitting aggressive music that has melody. Consistently writing tunes with heavy replay value, sharing the stage with many well-known bands, and appearing at several festivals, Abandoned Souls knows how to write classic heavy songs that will linger in the minds of listeners.

Recommended for fans of hard rock including Alter Bridge, Godsmack, Three Days Grace; “Blinding Darkness” is available on October 9, 2020.

The single can be heard before it officially drops via its premiere on V13.net HERE.

Inspired By Soviet Era Posters, RED CAIN Share Lyric Video “All Is Violence” via MetalMasterKingdom

Debut Album “Kindred: Act I” Out Now

Performing On Vancouver’s Hyperspace Metal Festival April 27th

Inspired by Soviet-era posters, Calgary’s RED CAIN have put together a visually thrilling lyric video for their track “All Is Violence” off their debut album “Kindred: Act I”released this past March.

Teaming up with MetalMasterKingdom, the band is premiering the video at the following link: https://www.metalmasterkingdom.com/home/red-cain-premiere-lyric-video-for-all-is-violence

Vocalist Evgeniy Zayarny adds:

“Visually inspired by Soviet propaganda posters, with images brilliantly designed by Igor Zayarny, ‘All Is Violence’ is a lethal offensive tying pagan Russian conceptions of righteous and sinful violence as championed by pagan gods Veles and Morana to an examination of violence in the modern era, backed by thunderous drums and downtuned, aggressive guitar work. The lyric video doubles as an introduction to individual Red Cain band members, with individual and group photos taken by Quay Evano. Fire, reload, step forward, and wrestle with your bestial nature because -‘All Is Violence’.”

RED CAIN first full-length “Kindred: Act I” was produced by Sascha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) with the band at Perfect Filth Studios and features guests Kobra Paige (Kobra And The Lotus), Daniel Louden (Benevolent Like Quietus) and guitarist Tyler Corbett. The album’s artwork was done by Timur Khabirov with cover design by Igor Zayarny.

The band has shared a few other videos in support of the debut album. Their music video for “Zero” recently won the Award of Recognition in the Best Music Video category at the Accolade Global Film Competition in Los Angeles.

Born out of the emerging metal scene of Calgary, AB, RED CAIN is a modern melodic metal project with European roots. With intricate songwriting, a heavy yet melodic feel reminiscent of progressive acts, and eerie ambient elements, RED CAIN champion a fluid, dynamic, and unique musical style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience. Listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Draconian, Marilyn Manson, whipped into a venomous new shape.

“Kindred: Act I” is available on Bandcamp here, iTunes, CD Baby, Spotify.

In additional news, RED CAIN will be performing on this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC for the second night of the event on April 27th at the Rickshaw Theatre alongside Crimson Shadows, Judicator and many more. Full details and line up can be found here.

“Overall, this was a very original album. I find it very difficult to locate a counterpart for RED CAIN, as they have clearly created their own sound in the genre. What we have here is a two headed beast of sad and melancholy music on one side and angry and raging music on the other. The two combine somewhere in the middle with flair for the dramatic and impassioned vocals. This is definitely worth your time if you are looking for something off the beaten path.” – Metal Temple

“Symphonic progressive metal with alternative and gothic nuances – Red Cain are well on their way to establishing new territory in story telling and musical match-ups. Kindred: Act I represents a fine opening album for these Canadians, and should lend itself well to various multi-media opportunities for live show and film options. The best records connect on a mind, body, and spirit level – and this will be one that should be in the conversation for visionary, forward-thinking effort, proving the ink is not dry on what metal can bring to the table for innovation.” – Dead Rhetoric

“Kindred: Act I is all about raw and unbridled metal power. A thoughtful brand of metal that – for once – does not base itself on mindless growling about the stage along normal lines of metal conduct. Instead they rip the established status quo to pieces and attack with a very unusual metal dish. One that comes with a distinct groove to boot… a very tasty fusion of Progressive and Power Metal that we have rarely seen to date. A metal dish best consumed red-hot. Have some, you will not regret it.” – Rock Music Raider

“I couldn’t be more impressed with this band and album from the opening track “Snake Bouquet” to the last track “Wing Of The Crow” which is an awesome closing track with guest vocals from Kobra Paige of Kobra and The Lotus. This album takes you on an epic and melodic journey, I feel fans of bands from Avatar to Kamelot to Marilyn Manson and anything in between will really love this album.” – Crannk
“Red Cain have produced a very awesome album. It sounds and looks very professional, has great riffs and epic melodies. Keep an eye on these guys, they will come very far.” – Lyrical Spell Magazine

Debut Album “Kindred: Act I” Out Now

Calgary’s RED CAIN are thrilled to announce they will be performing on this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC for the second night of the event on April 27th at the Rickshaw Theatre alongside Crimson Shadows, Judicator and many more. Full details and line up can be found here.

“Red Cain is hugely pumped to be invited to participate in the mighty Hyperspace Power Metal Festival! We cannot wait to bring our brand of groovy, lethal, story-driven Slavic power metal to BC for the first time and rock our Vancouver fan base! We want to extend our thanks to Journeyman Productions and Joey Hockin for holding the event and inviting us to share the stage with so many straight-up brilliant Canadian power metal bands. Sharpen your swords, light the fires, and mark Saturday, April 27th on your calendars – this will be a weekend to remember!” says vocalist Evgeniy Zayarny.

RED CAIN will be performing in support of their first full-length “Kindred: Act I” that was recently released on March 1, 2019. The album was produced by Sascha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) with the band at Perfect Filth Studios and features guests Kobra Paige (Kobra And The Lotus), Daniel Louden (Benevolent Like Quietus) and guitarist Tyler Corbett. The album’s artwork was done by Timur Khabirov with cover design by Igor Zayarny.

The band has shared a few videos in support of the debut album. Their music video for “Zero” recently won the Award of Recognition in the Best Music Video category at the Accolade Global Film Competition in Los Angeles.

RED CAIN Reveal Their “Kindred: Act I” In Full Album Stream via Beatroute

Debut Album Out March 1st

With the release of their first full-length “Kindred: Act I” on the horizon (March 1, 2019), RED CAIN are proud to premiere the album’s full stream via Beatroute.

The band comments:

“With our first full-length album “Kindred: Act I”, we dive into a conceptual journey through the primordial depth of the human psyche, surfacing to tell mythological tales of war, love, and transformation. Slavic, Celtic, and Egyptian myths all find a place within the tracks, in a venomous new form – battle hymns, sorrow-songs, and eldritch chants. These are tracks we’ve put our blood and spirit into, and while listener-friendly, also contain a huge variety of layering and elements that require a number of listens to truly explore. Each tells a story, and in fact, the concept behind the album (and there is one, which will also be continued in Kindred: Act II), is able to be picked up here.

Musically, “Kindred: Act I” is a further continuation of our EP, and fans will see that while it is still clearly a Red Cain album, there has been a significant progression in both style/songwriting and production. We have kept a raw sound in a modern package, and the tracks themselves are very different yet very connected to one another through a variety of musical, lyrical, and storytelling threads. With our non-musical elements such as music and lyric videos, accompanying short stories, and the lyrics themselves, we hope to tell a compelling tale that appeals to a wide audience. To us, “Kindred: Act I” is an ancient Sumerian incantation etched into the fiberglass wall of a derelict starship. Who can say what’s inside?”

RED CAIN Premiere Music Video “Zero” via EverythingIsNoise; Album “Kindred: Act I” Out March 1st

With the release of their first full-length “Kindred: Act I” on the horizon (March 1, 2019), RED CAIN are proud to premiere their first full music video for “ZERO” via EverythingIsNoise.

For this video, the RED CAIN collaborated with world-class director Rik Zak and cinematographer Jun Ren to recreate their own vision of the vampire myth based on the tale of Osiris – the Egyptian god of the dead – and incorporated this vision into the concept behind the album itself.

Filmed in the dystopian and inhospitable badlands of Drumheller, Alberta, the story-driven video features RED CAIN frontman Evgeniy Zayarny alongside R.A.V. – vocalist of power metal collective Ravenous, in the main roles, and follows the track’s lyrical content in exploring the relationship between fate and free will, success and failure, the search for immortality – and an inglorious death.

With the video of “ZERO”, they travel to ancient Egypt – dry, scorched, old as time, built on top of dead empires; littered with secrets and the devoured remains of hundreds of gods.
