Mosh your way to the forest of thrash where the Coven awaits for you to join “The Serpent’s Cycle”, the latest music video for the title track from Vancouver’, BC’s Hyperia forthcoming third full-length out on November 17th.

“This is the first song that was fully written for the album. It is a heavy and unrelenting track that encompasses everything Hyperia is about – intricate guitar work, heavy-hitting bass, fast drums, and wailing powerful vocals, a perfect title track to show what the album is all about.” adds the band.

Watch the video for “The Serpent’s Cycle” at https://youtu.be/K1O364D92Z8

Hyperia’s new thrash attack “The Serpent’s Cycle” marks a new era for Hyperia. This album has some of the most aggressive thrash metal the band has ever written paired with lots of melodic vocal and guitar work along with a new invigorating lineup that welcomes Ryan Idris on drums and Jon Power on bass to join husband and wife Colin and Marlee Ryley. It consists of everything Hyperia stands for shred, speed, and intricacy.

Hyperia wants fans to have their faces blown off by “The Serpent’s Cycle”. The ten-track album (plus a cover of Heart’s ‘Crazy On You’) will be appreciated by musicians and non-musicians alike. The songs vary enough to keep the pacing fresh throughout and there’s something for everyone on it.

When it comes to live performances, Hyperia takes pride in making them memorable and thinks the visual aspect is equally if not more important than the music. Especially with thrash metal, they want to create a party atmosphere – when all of them are having a genuinely fun time on stage they think it encourages the audience to go hard too. This energy is conveyed through “The Serpent’s Cycle”, which is recommended for fans of Havok, Municipal Waste, Lost Society, and Children Of Bodom.

“The Serpent’s Cycle” is due out on November 17, 2023, and is available for pre-order at https://hyperiametal.bandcamp.com.

“If you prefer your metal loud, dark and just a touch campy (and who doesn’t?), then Calgary-turned-Vancouver rockers Hyperia are planning to deliver with Silhouettes of Horror, the follow-up to 2020’s equally furious and equally fun Insanitorium. First single “Operation Midnight” is an unrelenting barrage of riffage held down by Marlee Ryley’s throat-blistering vocals.” – Exclaim! – One of Exclaim!’s most anticipated albums of 2022

“With their second album Silhouettes Of Horror, Canadian thrashers Hyperia doubled down on the most ferocious elements of their sound to achieve a sound that owed more than a passing nod to Tetonic thrashers Kreator or Destruction. The fact vocalist Marlee Ryley can deliver blackened snarls with as much gusto as trad-metal histrionics helped them stand out from the crowd, firmly establishing Hyperia as promising up-and-comers in the wide world of thrash. RH” – Metal Hammer – The top 10 best thrash metal albums of 2022

“Recent Calgary-to-Vancouver transplants Hyperia are all about thrashing in a style inherent to ’80s basketball shoes, shredded denim, battle jackets and those studded gauntlets that may look cool, but are likely more responsible for forearm rashes than being a gateway to one-night stands. Imagine classic Megadeth, “Toxic Waltz”-era Exodus, Annihilator and Anthrax alongside Exmortus, Havok, Warbringer, Violator, Crisix and others with a new-school take on an old-school sound.” – Decibel Mag

“Energetic, melodic, fast, psychotic, and dynamic are just some of the elements that make Silhouettes of Horror an album that old and new fans of thrash, NWoBHM, and power metal will appreciate. The band even included a cover homage of Abba’s Gimme Gimme Gimme.” – Sentinel Daily

“All in all, Silhouettes of Horror gave me what I want for from a modern melodic thrash album. It’s fun, it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it’s got cool stories to tell.” – Angry Metal Guy

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 18, 2023

Canada’s HATRED REIGNS Forges A Path of Extreme Musical Mastery With “Departing Acheron”

New Album “Awaken The Ancients” Out December 1st, 2023

L-R – Jeff Calder – Guitars, Adam Semler – Bass & Vocals, Neil Grandy – Drums, Mitchi Dimitriadis – Vocals

Hatred Reigns, an uncompromising force hailing from the Ottawa Capital Region of Ontario introduced themselves with force back in 2018 with their concept debut “Realm I: Affliction”, which ushered listeners into the depths of Hell. This year, they will continue their descent with “Awaken The Ancients”, the first single being “Departing Acheron” presented now with a music video. The lyrics on the album are inspired by the film “What Dreams May Come”, the novels Dante’s “Inferno”, John Milton’s “Paradise Lost”, and the mental anguish and exploits that many of us experience but choose life vs succumbing to the ever-looming darkness. The band comments on the meaning behind the single:

“Approaching the shores of Necropia, the realm of judgment, the vessel sails closer to its destination. The Ancients intensify their efforts to deceive and ensnare the voyagers. Their intention is to imprison these souls, subjecting them to a fate dictated by the Ancients themselves, just before they face their ultimate judgment.”

Watch and listen to “Departing Archeron” via its premiere on Slam Worldwide at https://youtu.be/UkHuDhTsTWA

With an exceptional lineup comprising Mitchi Dimitriadis on vocals, Jeff Calder on guitars, Adam Semler on bass, and Neil Grandy on drums, Hatred Reigns fuses both old-school death metal and new-school tech elements, each song they create is unique and full of beastly hammered drums, brutal aggressive guitars, sonic booming bass, and demonic vocals appealing to a diverse audience.

Prepare to be transported on an unparalleled auditory journey with Hatred Reigns‘ upcoming release, “Awaken The Ancients”, set to unleash its sonic might on December 1st, 2023.

Montreal, QC – October 13, 2023

Out Now! MINDRAZER Present Bold Thrash Power Metal On New Album “A Thing of Nightmares”

Album Produced by Kevin Antreassian – The Dillinger Escape Plan)

Combining the anthemic melodies of traditional and power metal, the precise, aggressive attack of thrash, and twists of dark intensity borrowed from second-wave black metal, Jersey, USA’s Mindrazer plays a style as familiar as it is fresh. Their debut album, “A Thing of Nightmares” (Produced by Kevin Antreassian – The Dillinger Escape Plan) is out today, Friday the 13th via label Misanthropic Records and to complement its release is a music video for the first track “Entombed In Time”. The band shares their thoughts:

“Every song offers something different. We took the inverse of the AC/DC approach. We grew up in the playlist era, albums can’t be the same anymore. Every song has to keep the listener on edge and bring something new to the table to keep people from going to something else. “Entombed in Time” is moody, epic, and contemplative. It is supposed to make the hairs on your arm stand up and give you that rush that makes you throw yourself in the pit.“

Watch the music video for “Entombed In Time” at https://youtu.be/XF-PDJcIirg

Mindrazer‘s latest offering promises to be a bold, brutal, and diverse exploration of melodic thrash metal, which even before its official release, was igniting mosh pits at the band’s live shows. Now, with the album’s imminent launch, fans can delve into the depths of these tracks and experience them in all their glory.

The writing for the tracks on the album spans a large period of evolution which can be heard as one progresses through the album. “Knightfall”, the earliest work, is much more power metal, upbeat, and melodic. “Better Dead”, another early song, is very riff-focused and old-school sounding. “Crusader” and “Suffer In Silence”, the later tracks on the record are great examples of how that power metal vibe never really left but the music got heavier and more technical. Each of the ten tracks offers epic melodies and frenetic dynamics that metalheads will be eager to sink their teeth into. “A Thing of Nightmares” is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Blind Guardian.

“A Thing of Nightmares” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Officialmindrazer.bandcamp.com.

In addition to releasing their album on October 13th, the band will also be opening support for Venom Inc., Satan, and Ringworm in Clifton, NJ at Dingbatz. Event info can be found here.

“The Bruce worship is strong but pulled off very well! I like the contrast between the powerful clean vocals and ultra thrash instrumental portion. The bass pops very well and the drums are frantic but on point.” – Cutting Edge Metal (USA)

“Entombed in Time stands out for its old school thrash metal concept accompanied by the fantastic and live sounding performances of Mindrazer.” -Metalhead Community Magazine (Switzerland)

“Good songs, really good guitar, even better vocalist; they’ll go far!” -Mark Wasserman, 3 and 1 Grab Productions, Live Sound: Nick Cannon’s “Wild n’ Out”, Barclay Center, Madison Square Garden, Staples Center, Arco Arena etc.

“It was an insane show! At one point the lead singer who was also playing guitar, steps out in front, puts his arm up, points a finger down and starts moving it in a circle like he’s indicating to the crowd “I want you to make a circle pit now” and you felt the entire mood of the room just change. Everyone got ready and they played this really heavy song. It was so good!” – WRCU-FM Radio Into the Pit

Streaming Now! KING OV WYRMS Sends Out Tendrils Of Black Metal Worldwide With Album “The Womb Ov Borealis”

L-R – Michael Oneirous Sanchez – Vocals, Guitars, Bass (Studio) – Ricky Williams – Drums

Arizona, USA’s King Ov Wyrms is beyond excited to finally release their album “The Womb Ov Borealis” and over the last several months have almost been chomping at the bit to keep their work contained for “the big reveal”. This album has been in production for almost three years starting just with Oneirous conjuring the material and then going through an almost complete overhaul with the inclusion of Ricky Williams into the mix and the very gracious session work performances by Derrek Page. It was a key point for this album to almost break away and push the trio into a new path of enlightenment. Oneirous comments on the release of “Womb Ov Borealis”:

“This album is almost like the first “real” King album, “Lord Of Thornes” was really just me finding an outlet to worship the metal I grew up with which led to a lot of people wanting the songs to be more “original”. Ultimately this is the culmination of that drive to fill that want, this is the first “real” King album delivering a new approach to how we present ourselves and our music. This album will definitely open us up to a whole new fan base and I feel our original fans will be even more happy to hear what we have developed over the years and what they will surely see more of in the future.”

On “Womb Ov Borealis” the tracks flowed in naturally for the most part. Oneirious had the songs started since the release of “Lord Ov Thornes” with the intent to not make another “tribute” album and try to do something more original. Once Ricky was added into the mix the songs took on a new life of their own and really solidified the idea of making a new original album and lineup for King Ov Wyrms. At the moment the band is already considering the writing process of album No. 3 and as long as there is a want for more we will gladly continue.

King Ov Wyrms originally started out as a more aggressive project for Michael Oneirous Sanchez from his main progressive metal band Pain Patterns. The new album is recommended for fans of Morbid Angel, Dark Funeral, and Goatwhore.

King Ov Wyrms’ sophomore album “The Womb Ov Borealis” is due out on Friday, October 6, 2023, and is available for pre-order at https://kingovwyrms.bandcamp.com.

“Lyrically, the song (To March From Darkness) narrates a hellish war on heaven, with a satanic horde bent on bringing fire and slaughter to the angelic host. Not surprisingly, there’s abundant fire and fury in the music as well. As the drums hammer the listener’s head the riffing blares and blazes in livid pulsating tones, and roils and drills in displays of cruel violence, while the vocals utter the enraged words in monstrous guttural tones and strangled snarls and screams, and wild quivering leads channel derangement. The music also brings in filaments of eerie melody that add a supernatural atmosphere, jolting body-blows, electrifying drum progressions, and a guitar solo that’s maniacally spectacular but also transforms into an expression of agony. Moreover, all the song’s changing motifs have the capacity to get stuck in the head.” – No Clean Singing

“an interesting evolution in their sound. Fans of experimental black metal should definitely give it a listen.” – Amplified Magazin

Cabrakaän’s Mexican Infused Metal Burns Bright With “Fuego”

New Album “Aztlán” Out November 17th, 2023

Photo Credit – Angela Ambrose – Lunar Ring Sound & Graphics Inc.

Originally hailing from Mexico, metallers Cabrakaän now call Calgary, Canada home. In their signature sound, they take folklore from their homeland and wrap it up into a heavy and intriguing package that will catch the ears of metalheads everywhere. This year they are releasing an album “Aztlán”, a thematic album centered on the Spanish conquest – colonization and the defeat of Mexico’s Aztec empire, Tenochtitlán. The second single off this album is “Fuego”, a story about premonitions and nightmares that were experienced by Aztec people about the Spanish conquest. The band explains more:

“It is based on the “First Bad Omen” of 7 that happened in the decade before the Spaniards’ arrival in 1521. In this omen, there was a fire that burned in the sky every night for a year, shaped in a way that made the sky look like it was bleeding. Musically, it is hard-hitting, melancholic, dark, and energetic all at once.”

In a fusion of fast-paced melodies, enchanting harmonies, and heavy-hitting rhythms, “Fuego” (The Fire) is based on the recorded history of seven bad omens that Aztecs believed were warning them about the future conquest.

Marko Cipäktli and Pat Cuikani developed Cabrakaän’s initial concept to create music that reflected and reinforced their cultural roots. Over time, they developed a sound based on their shared musical interests: death metal, classical music and opera, and traditional Mexican music, with a strong desire to express and share their country’s folklore through heavy music. In the past, Cipäktli and Cuikani’s lyrics have engaged with Aztec and Mayan mythology. Lyrics from their upcoming album will engage with a mix of themes related to the Spanish conquest and mythological concepts like Mictlan, an Aztec concept of the underworld. “Aztlán” is recommended for fans of Eluveitie, Nightwish, and Amon Amarth.

“In the world of metal music, where genres often blend and boundaries are pushed, there emerges a band that beautifully merges traditional folk elements with the raw power of heavy metal. Enter Cabrakaän, a Mexican folk metal band on a mission to reconnect with their ancestral roots and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Mexico.” – Infrared Magazine

“CABRAKAÄN has released an amazing, fun, well-written album with influences from various folk styles aligned with Death Metal. It’s definitely one of the best releases of the year in the style and the band deserves all the attention they are getting from the media and the public. 10/10” – Metal Temple (review 2019 – Cem Anahuac My Home)

“While the band may celebrate cultures that are unknown to most Canadian metal fans, Cipäktli says live performances by Cabrakaan are an immersive experience. The band, who wear face paint and costumes to conjure up the “time of the Aztecs,” like to give audiences both a visual and sonic feast.”

-Calgary Herald: “Symphonic Metal Band Cabrakaän Brings Spirit Of Ancient Mexico To Calgary”

“The use of traditional, lesser-known instruments that rarely leave Central/South America jamming along with metal instruments – in a way that would make Ozzy Osbourne in his prime proud – is the last thing Calgary expected to experience, and yet Cabrakaän is here.”

– Calgary Journal: “Cabrakaän, Calgary’s friendly neighbourhood Mexican folk metal fusion band”

0 MASSIVE SCAR ERA’s Groundbreaking “Between Waves” Pushes Music Boundaries Off “Metal Goes Egyptian” Out Nov 2023

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 28, 2023

MASSIVE SCAR ERA’s Groundbreaking “Between Waves” Pushes Music Boundaries

New EP “Metal Goes Egyptian” Out November 2023

Massive Scar Era, the brainchild of visionary artist Cherine Amr, is proud to announce the upcoming release of their highly anticipated seventh release, an EP, “Metal Goes Egyptian”, which is coming out in November. Known for pushing the boundaries of music and blending genres, Massive Scar Era is set to captivate audiences once again with its unique fusion of progressive rock, post-grunge, Egyptian music, and metal. The second single is “Between Waves”, which Amr comments on:

“Between the Waves was the first song that we worked on. It’s one of the oldest songs for MSE that wasn’t released digitally. In this song’s intro, a heavy riff is playing in the background, consisting of just two notes. Weka was free to incorporate the Hijaz scale without constraints, and he used maqam kord as a secondary “gens,” a modern approach to this maqam. That’s how the song began. As the song progresses, it transitions into a new section with modulation on the G note, leading into maqam Rust. Finally, the ending of the intro (“Taslim” in Arabic) concludes with a return to the Hijaz scale, creating a glamorous ending. I wrote this song when I was very young. It was even before I moved to Cairo in 2009. I was still in the process of discovering myself as a person before a lyricist and a songwriter. While I don’t resonate with the lyrics anymore, singing this song again reminded me of an entire lifetime.”

Watch and listen to the music video for “Between Waves” via its premiere on GhostCultMagazine HERE.

Originating from Alexandria, Egypt, and currently based in Montreal, Canada, Cherine Amr has led Massive Scar Era on an incredible journey since its inception in 2004. The project’s music reflects the cosmopolitan allure of Alexandria intertwined with the raw essence of Cairo’s urban landscape. This distinctive sound and cultural blend have garnered widespread recognition, including appearances in influential documentaries such as “Microphone” (2012) and “Before the Spring After the Fall” (2013).

“Metal Goes Egyptian” represents a unique concept that will particularly appeal to metal enthusiasts who appreciate a diverse range of folkloric influences. With its fusion of metal and various folk elements, this EP promises an unforgettable musical journey that transcends genre boundaries. It is recommended for fans of Merkfolk, Aeternam and Huntress.

“Metal Goes Egyptian” is due out on November 3, 2023.

Israel’s Sinnery is about to burn up the thrash metal scene with their new EP “Below the Summit”. It picks up where 2022’s “Black Bile” left off, continuing their self-actualization journey through searing guitar work, pummeling basslines, and vocals that cut through like a razor. “Below the Summit” is a very fast-paced piece of music where a lot is happening all at once. It’s a journey further into the minds of Sinnery, the music and lyrics are a barrage of exactly what they feel in the most authentic and exaggerated way pummeling the listener with a wall of intensity. It is a very human experience that has been etched into this recording, detailing the strange times we are currently living through. The band comments:

“We are thrilled to get our new EP “Below the Summit” out to listeners! This record marks another important milestone in our lives and careers as we continue to explore further and expand the horizons of what Sinnery’s music can be. BTS is a moment in time when we didn’t know exactly how things would turn out for us, we were isolated in our homes when we began writing this, sharing ideas from afar. It was a special experience for us to write this record like this and we feel like we really put that into it.”

In this EP, Sinnery introduces new drummer Liam Fine who has written and recorded on the EP all while learning the band’s older material. In just four months Liam learned 19 songs and wrote four more. Doing so much all at once is probably the most “Sinnery” thing that could have happened to anyone joining in.

“Below the Summit” was mixed and mastered by Arie Aranovich and the album artwork was done by Xul1349 and inspired by a famous Japanese painting called “Thunderstorm Beneath The Summit” by legendary artist Katsushika Hokusai. The EP is recommended for fans of Sylosis, Metallica, and Power Trip.

“If you didn’t get around to giving this quartet from Tel Aviv a whirl, here’s another chance. The band, like many others, were graced with a period of pandemic-enforced downtime which allowed for an introspective and pointed look at themselves and their art. The result is the forthcoming EP, Below the Summit from which we’re premiering the band’s latest single and video, “An Ode (Knife of Erato),” a song that definitely upholds, if not elevates, their previous work’s vicious precision.” – Decibel Magazine

“I’ve said this many times in the past, but one of the many things I love about this business is following the progress of bands as they come of age, mature and get better at their craft. What’s not to love about paying early witness to a bunch of folks gelling and heading on an upward trajectory as they make the move towards proverbial world domination? Israeli thrashers Sinnery are one such band. Gathering their Exodus, Testament, Gojira, The Haunted and post-St. Anger Metallica influences, the quartet from Herzliya, Tel Aviv will soon be releasing their second full length, Black Bile via Exitus Stratagem Records. This new tasty little rager pops the clutch and pumps the gas on modern thrash with a grizzled edge that improves upon the roots planted with their 2016 debut A Feast of Fools and their 2013 demo, Showing Teeth.” – Decibel Magazine

“Sinnery [Israel] Proves Thrash is NOT Dead in Groove-Oozing Cesspit of ‘Black Bile’” – Metal Has No Borders

““Death thrash” is the simplified genre description for what Sinnery do, but it’s the strong melodies and the variations among and within the songs that make the album such an adventure to experience from start to finish. Compared to the debut all those years ago, which was entirely written by vocalist/guitarist Alon Karnieli back when he was about 16-17 years of age, these tracks are more elaborate, more sophisticated, more reflective of different moods, while at the same time being more brutally extreme.” – No Clean Singing

“You just gotta love a band that knows exactly what the hell they wanna be. Sinnery bow to no one, instead turning heel to scissor kick you in the temple with battering ram riffs, suplexing drums, and neck-twisting vocals. You know the opening of Back to the Future where Marty McFly plays a single guitar chord on Doc Brown’s hyper amplifier and goes flying across the room from the resulting sound? “The Burning” provides the same effect regardless of the size of your chosen sound output device – you will be ragdolled and tossed around like a frisbee in a college quad by the quartet’s supreme rippage.” – Everything Is Noise

“I am old enough to have seen the likes of Metallica, Anthrax and others perform live at small venues in London. I’m also a huge fan of the new wave of thrash like Dust Bolt, Lost Society, etc. Sinnery is welcome inclusion with their aggression, energy, and obvious hunger. They might verge on Death Metal a tad with the vocals but that’s ok. With Matt Hyde (Machine Head, Trivium, Slipknot) having mixed and mastered this beast you know the sounds are gonna be right in your face. An excellent sophomore effort – please just keep thrashing!” – My Global Mind

“Sinnery straddle those lines between conventional thrash and modern/groove metal with enough solid musicianship and heaviness to align well with a multitude of touring possibilities.” – Dead Rhetoric

“For those that just want to bang heads and go nuts, there are songs like “The Burning,” “Who Will Be Eaten First,” and “Anti Tribe.” “Hanged From The Sun” and “Holes” flesh out their thrash by either toning down the speed or putting an emphasis on melody.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

0 Sol Negate Introduces Themselves With Visionary Progressive Death Album “On the Verge of Dreaming Again”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 26, 2023

Sol Negate Introduces Themselves With Visionary Progressive Death Album “On the Verge of Dreaming Again”

Sol Negate emerged from the mind of Edoardo Curatolo in Seattle, USA. He had the intention to compose music in a classical manner, but with modern guitars/drums as part of the orchestral ensemble. He wanted to “paint” using the palette that extreme metal offers without necessarily writing traditional metal songs. With the aid of drummer Sebastian Lanser (ex-Obscura, Juvaliant, Obsidious) finalizing drum parts and making them his own along with vocalist Riley McShane (Continuum, ex-Allegaeon) taking on the concept to add his unique lyrics and vocal parts, the result transformed into the debut album “On the Verge of Dreaming Again”, which challenges the boundaries of progressive death metal. Curatolo explains what’s in store:

“It explores the journey of the mind as one approaches death, reliving moments of life flashing before their eyes and experiencing the fall into the unknown. Each track on the album represents a passage of time, reflecting how seemingly insignificant experiences can leave lasting imprints and how perceptions of events can continue to haunt us even in our final moments.”

The album, “On the Verge of Dreaming Again,” is more than just a collection of tracks; it is a carefully crafted concept album, centered around the themes of death and dreams, that invites listeners to embark on a profound musical journey. Best experienced from start to finish, with headphones on, late in the evening, the album offers a deeply personal experience that evolves with each listen.

The progressive side of this endeavor was about making the music both fun and interesting while concealing the complexity of the composition. Those who appreciate ‘crazy’ time signatures, unconventional song structures, and intricate approaches, will discover them within the music, but it won’t feel like a gimmick. “On the Verge of Dreaming Again” is symphonic and progressive without sacrificing being heavy. It is recommended listening for fans of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Dream Theater, and Obscura.

“On the Verge of Dreaming Again” will be available as of September 26th, 2023 on Spotify, Apple Music, SolNegate.bandcamp.com.

Note: Special Instrumental Version of the album is only available on the band’s Bandcamp.

Moribund Records – Out Now! Canadian Thrashers TRISKELYON New Album “Artificial Insanity” ft. Guests From Infrared, TYMO, Category VI, Naitaka and More!

+ New Music Video “Bringers of Chaos”

Canada’s new power thrash metal gods Triskelyon sophomore album “Artificial Insanity” (mixed and mastered by Michael Small (Winterhearth, Triskelyon, Artach)) is now available as of September 8th via Moribund Records. Led by guitarist and band founder Geoff Waye, Triskelyon’s second full-length “Artificial Insanity” follows their radio chart-topping debut album “Downfall” (2022) and features guests from the crème de le crème of the Canadian metal scene to create a varied album that delivers both pure thrash metal classics, hints of blackened melodic thrash, and enough power metal to bring one back to the 1980s. The full-length showcases the vocal talents of Amanda Jackman (Category VI), Armin Kamal (Infrared), Cara McCutchen (Mortillery, Naitaka), Dale Drew (Sea Dogs), Des Mason, Ellim, Pete Healey, Raúl Álvarez (Dark Order-Aus.) and Tim Tymo (Tymo). Drum duties on the record are shared between Raul Marques (Burning Torment) and Alexander Raykov (Antreib), while Dwayne Pike, Keith Jackman (Category VI), and Darrin Pope were conscripted on bass.

Geoff Waye comments:

“Today is the day! It marks the release of the second Triskelyon album, titled “ARTIFICIAL INSANITY.” While I personally composed all the music and penned the lyrics, the realization of this project became a reality thanks to the collaboration with a myriad of talented guests featured on the album. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to each and every one of them for their incredible contributions, and I hope for the possibility of working together again in the future.”

In celebration of the album’s release, Triskelyon is proud to present a new music video for the song “Bringers of Chaos”. The track has a sci-fi theme, which aligns perfectly with Waye’s love for science fiction.

“Crafting a song that delves into the enigma of a mysterious alien force expanding across the universe, conquering all it encounters, constitutes the essence of this composition. The initial guitar part is born from a riff that’s been with me since the ’90s. The song starts out with that dissonant VoiVod vibe but transforms into something that feels a bit like old-school Metallica, at least to my ears. What sets this song apart is the inclusion of my former bandmate, Dale Drew, who lends his vocal prowess to the composition. On bass, we have my friend Dwayne Pike, and the rhythmic foundation is once again masterfully executed by Raul Marques on drums.” adds Waye.

“It’s refreshing, for once, to discover a thrash band that aren’t geared towards utter devastation but, rather, crafting a record that an audience can simply put on and vibe to. With more than forty-five minutes to work with, the band still stuck to their guns and applied songwriting that saw every minute feel earned and needed for what their performance entailed.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Waye has shown he can write in any metal style and the guys he got together to perform are world class. The production is pretty big too so, if you like Megadeth, Agent Steel, Exodus, Overkill, etc. then there will be something on here that you like. Me? I liked it all! Hopefully, Canadian metal will be taken a bit more seriously with this release.” – My Global Mind

“classical Thrash Metal tracks and many 80s vibes.” – Metal-Temple

Rimouski’s Quebec’s Vortex is now streaming its third epic concept album set to aggressive and beautiful orchestral melodic death metal with hints of black metal. Each song in “The Future Remains In Oblivion” is one chapter in their well-written sci-fi tale and there is a build-up in intensity and emotion that goes along with the storyline and the lyrics as you traverse the album. They share their thoughts:

“This is an orchestral death metal album with plenty of heavy riffing and melodies, technical vocals, and epic soloing. Some of the songs are riff-oriented and some others had the orchestra and melodies written before the drums and the guitars. We wrote all the lyrics before the music to make sure that it would fit the feel and emotion of each song/part of the story. When we start writing a song, we know exactly what feeling and emotion we are aiming at, it’s a good way to push ourselves creatively and write thoughtful music.”

Those familiar with the previous albums will note that they were more on the ambient/dramatic side. The new album’s songs are still melodic/orchestral but much more aggressive and some of them have a black metal influence. Vortex’s goal was to create songs that would have a greater impact on their live shows, and these aggressive songs will work well live. They feel the album is a good combination of aggression/melody, and ugliness/beauty.

Creativity and storytelling are the key tenets of Vortex. Their masterful lyric writing is equally matched with their prowess in devising riffs, and orchestrations. They will transport the listener into a new world and are recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Dimmu Borgir, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

“The Future Remains In Oblivion” is now available as of June 9th, 2023.

“The song’s (The Walls) multi-faceted nature is further revealed in harrowing and haughty growls, jolting chords, and fiery sunbursts of sound, as well as through a swirling melodic guitar solo that spectacularly sends the song into the stratosphere. The song’s finale is itself a full-power spectacle that really gets the adrenaline surging.” – No Clean Singing

“For some music is pure escapism but does that still hold true when bands like Canadian Melodic Death Metal monster Vortex whisk the would be listener into a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm? Scenes of war and survival are punctuated with harrowing strings, technical riffs, and guttural and Black Metal inspired vocals as the band weave cinematic stories and orchestral touches into their third concept album “The Future Remains In Oblivion”” – Metal Noise

“An excellent group that you must discover because of the intensity they are able to show” – Ondes Chocs

“The breakdowns are huge in places. There are big moments where the influences pour through, but are blended with giant choral arrangements and symphonics. It’s absolutely like something out of a Lord of the Rings movie. I love the melodies, the harmonics, and the guitar solos. This is absolutely an album which ought to be part of your listening rotation this month. I was genuinely impressed with quite a bit of the entire album. I think that when you look at this album, the absolute banger of the title tack is 100% worth several spins with the blackened guitar riffs and tremendous choral arrangements.” – Metal Epidemic

“The songs you’ll find on this upcoming release are aggressive, but Vortex also has a strong melodic approach and lots of orchestrations combined with guttural, black metal vocals and diverse guitar playing that alternates between howling snippets and beautiful, emotional riffs. Recommended for fans of Shadow of Intent, Septicflesh, and Dimmu Borgir.” – RTMB Music
