“Sludgehammer doesn’t fit neatly into the traditional death or groove metal box, as its diverse elements sets it apart from its peers… hooky riffs, catchy choruses and a perfect clean/growled vocal combination… Sludgehammer possesses loads of potential. Highly recommended!” – Bravewords
“This is how gifted SLUDGEHAMMER as a band is, even with only a demo, EP and now LP under their belts. On their own, they’re a devastating DIY metal band. With a contract in-hand, they’re gonna become unstoppable.” – Blabbermouth
““Demons From the Woodwork”. It’s a jolting, high-octane, full-throttled romp that incorporates elements of thrash, death metal, and head-slugging groove — and it’s an infectious beast that Sludgehammer have unchained.” – No Clean Singing
“Sludgehammer have a great way of infusing groove into their sound. Not nearly enough of that in death metal these days” – CJSF – Metal Meltdown
“The thing about Sludgehammer musically is they take so many different styles and mesh them together into this sound that encapsulates traditional, thrash, modern, death, and progressive metal, while creating something unique yet familiar. The excellent guitar work with hooky riffs and blazing solos matched with the heaviness and intensity was greatly appealing.” – Get Ready To Rock
“Sludgehammer is visceral and and definitely lives up to their name. With several different genres of metal at work including thrash, death, and groove, what you get is a murky and sludge filled sound that does in fact hit you like a fucking hammer upside the head.” – Cadaver Garden
“The night opened with Sludgehammer, a local band with some great art on their bass drum. When the lights went down and the crowd got ready out came the guys in this local band battering through each of their songs. Although being unfamiliar with these guys, I had to go home and find their music; Sludgehammer had the stage presence of a high end professional band. Battering away through everything they could, making jokes to the audience and having some showmanship is what we look for and although a lot of people like to skip te local bands at these shows, you would have regretted missing this band.” – Five Magics Music
“Strong metal roots are obvious, but the way they blend several styles of death, groove, thrash, and even melodic metal is impressive. Never a dull moment and it makes each song distinct from each other.” – Arte Mortifica Reviews
“Sludgehammer, a death metal band hailing from Toronto Canada, combines face-melting riffs with groveling, roaring lyrics to create a relentless, powerful sound that is all Sludgehammer’s own. It does not end there. Unlike most death metal acts, Sludgehammer has a unique groove metal sound intermixed into their songs.” – Metal Temple
“What more can I say except this is the greatest new band I have heard recently” – Eternal Terror

SHORT BIO
Since the release of their first full-length album, “The Fallen Sun”, SLUDGEHAMMER from Toronto, Canada have been riding a wave of great reviews for the record as well as their live show.
Originally formed in 2013 by Jeff Wilson (guitar) and Fernando Villalobos (drums), SLUDGEHAMMER’s initial lineup came together with the addition of Daniel Ayers (vocals/bass) and Christopher Szarota (vocals). By the end of the year, they released a demo which gained considerable ground. 2014’s EP “Organ Harvester” introduced Dan Ayers as a co-vocalist, creating a unique sound that molded Sludgehammer into the heavy and groovy band it is today.
In 2016, the LP “The Fallen Sun” was released; fast and chunky it was well received by fans and the media. Unfortunately, after the release of that album, the band parted ways with Szarota and Josh Stephney was brought on board to complete the album cycle.
With the lineup finalized, SLUDGEHAMMER hit the road and laid waste to every stage they set foot on, showing their fans that they were now stronger than ever. After a few successful tours in support of “The Fallen Sun”, it was time to start writing the next record which will be the first to feature Stephney on vocals. SLUDGEHAMMER are preparing to show their maturity by unleashing a second monstrous album “Antechamber” in 2019.
LONG BIO
Originally formed in 2013 by Jeff Wilson (guitar) and Fernando Villalobos (drums), SLUDGEHAMMER’s initial lineup came together with the addition of Daniel Ayers (vocals/bass) and Christopher Szarota (vocals). By the end of the year, they released a demo which gained considerable ground. 2014’s EP “Organ Harvester” introduced Dan Ayers as a co-vocalist, creating a unique sound that molded Sludgehammer into the heavy and groovy band it is today.
With the release of 2016’s LP “The Fallen Sun”, they had recruited Tyler Williams on guitars, who also proved to be a great recording engineer. With two guitar players, two vocalists and a crushing rhythm section, The Fallen Sun sounded massive and propelled SLUDGEHAMMER to a much higher plane. The album, recorded and mixed by Williams, gave SLUDGEHAMMER ultimate control over the final product, which was fast, chunky and well received by fans and the media.
Working collaboratively in the writing stages, the new material became less experimental than The Fallen Sun, with a prominent focus on writing the “sick riffs” and “heavy, versatile music” that their fans love, SLUDGEHAMMER are preparing to show their maturity by unleashing a second monstrous album “Antechamber” in 2019.
Whether on the road or in the studio, SLUDGEHAMMER delivers the goods with astounding precision and the confidence of a world-class band. Stay tuned!
