SILAS FERNANDES Unveils New Video “Flight of the Navigator”

Named 2025 Guitarist of The Year by Roadie Crew Magazine

Instrumental metal guitarist, producer, and content creator Silas Fernandes has released the brand‑new music video for “Flight of the Navigator”, the fourth track from his 2025 album “Carbon Purge Acceleration.”

The release arrives at a high point in Fernandes’ career. He was recently named Best Guitarist of the Year 2025 by Brazil’s influential Roadie Crew Magazine, a publication that also ranked “Carbon Purge Acceleration” 6th Place for Best Album of 2025. These accolades highlight Fernandes’ growing international presence and reaffirm his status as one of Brazil’s most innovative and technically formidable guitarists.

“Flight of the Navigator” is one of the album’s most explosive compositions, an adrenaline‑charged blend of progressive metal speed, fusion‑driven harmonic twists, and precision‑crafted shred guitar work. The track’s shifting time signatures and cinematic pacing reflect Fernandes’s unique writing process, which begins not with riffs or scales, but with vivid mental imagery.

“Sounds and songs always represent an image for me. The album cover was done before the songs. Each track is based on visuals and contemporary matters, so I hope fans take the titles more seriously than the average instrumental music,” says Fernandes

The new music video amplifies this visual‑first approach, translating the song’s futuristic tension and narrative energy into a dynamic visual experience that mirrors the album’s themes of technology, chaos, and human disconnection.

Released in September 2025, “Carbon Purge Acceleration” represents a major creative milestone for Fernandes. After decades of refining his voice across genres, he describes this album as the moment where all his influences finally aligned into a single, cohesive artistic identity.

Drawing from industrial metal, prog metal, thrash, shred guitar, and 80s melodic rock, the EP creates a soundscape that is both aggressive and introspective. Fernandes cites Steve Vai, Fear Factory, Meshuggah, Judas Priest, and Joe Satriani as key influences, but the result is unmistakably his own.

“The album blends fusion, modern prog metal, and eighties references in a sound that reinvents itself with every track. Instead of compartmentalized styles, the result is a true creative cauldron,” adds Fernandes.

“Carbon Purge Acceleration” unfolds like a cinematic journey through futuristic chaos and emotional introspection, each track painting its own vivid scene. The album opens with the crushing force of “Earth Was Boring,” a modern‑metal assault that blends metalcore aggression with soaring shred melodies, before shifting into the tense push‑and‑pull of “Escape the Reality Room,” where thrashy riffs collide with calm, reflective passages. “John Hughes Didn’t Direct My Life” injects bright ’80s nostalgia into the mix, channeling the melodic charm of Vai and Satriani through Fernandes’ expressive phrasing. The intensity peaks with “Flight of the Navigator,” a high‑velocity prog‑metal odyssey driven by fusion harmonies, rapid‑fire solos, and unpredictable time signatures. “Heavy Droids” deepens the album’s sci‑fi atmosphere with its mechanical 7/4 groove and melodic slow‑tempo breaks, while “The Death of Synthetic Curation” closes the record on an ethereal, introspective note, one guitar, ambient textures, and a sense of quiet reflection after the storm. Together, the tracks form a sonic world that moves from aggression to serenity, from dystopian tension to emotional clarity, showcasing Fernandes’ ability to tell powerful stories without a single lyric.

About: Silas Fernandes emerged from São Paulo’s iconic ABC metal scene, first performing in Esfinge alongside future Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser before leaving the band in the 80s due to family and religious pressures and dedicating himself to the rising shred movement. Over the next three decades, he built a diverse career as a guitarist, producer, instructor, author, and gear specialist—teaching at IG&T, working as a producer and guitar tech for major Brazilian artists, writing the book Set Up (later adopted as a course at EM&T), and leading clinics across Brazil. In 2014, he launched his popular YouTube channel and the weekly show Rig on Fire, now in Portuguese and English, showcasing his humor, technical mastery, and deep knowledge of guitar gear. Endorsed by EMG Pickups, Solar Guitars, Black Smith Strings, and his own company, Electric Eye Audio, Fernandes also released his first Solar signature model, the A1.6 Silas Canibalismo, in 2024. Known for quirky career moments, from VHS‑era rumors about a missing pinky to sampling Killer Instinct’s Fulgor for robotic voices, he continues to push creative boundaries. Now based in Virginia, Fernandes blends industrial, shred, melodic, and instrumental metal, drawing comparisons to Steve Vai, Plini, Marty Friedman, Nita Strauss, and Joe Satriani. His latest release, Carbon Purge Acceleration (2025), earned him Best Guitarist of the Year 2025 and 6th Place for Best Album from Brazil’s Roadie Crew Magazine, adding to a discography that spans from his 1995 debut to his acclaimed modern work.

Instrumental Metal SILAS FERNANDES Unveils New Videos “Earth Was Boring” and “Escape The Reality Room”

New Album “Carbon Purge Acceleration” Out Now!

Acclaimed guitarist, producer, and content creator Silas Fernandes (founder of Electric Eye Audio, producer of guitar pedals and digital tools for metal guitarists and creator of the popular YouTube show Rig on Fire) has released two new videos, “Earth was Boring” and “Escape The Reality Room,” from his latest album “Carbon Purge Acceleration,” which dropped this past September. Known for his fusion of industrial metal, shred guitar, and progressive influences, Fernandes continues to push boundaries with instrumental music that blends aggression, melody, and thought-provoking themes.

Formed out of Fernandes’ departure from a cover band with Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) in the 1980s, his solo career has been defined by innovation and independence. Inspired by legends like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Tony McAlpine, Fernandes has carved out a unique sound described in five words: industrial, shred, instrumental, melodic, metal.

His latest videos reflect Fernandes’ vision of instrumental music as more than just a technical display. “Earth was Boring” is a heavy, aggressive track that fuses modern metal with metalcore elements, climaxing in a melodic shred solo. The video for that track features robotic vocal samples sourced from the Killer Instinct character Fulgor, reversed to create a distinct tone. The video for “Escape The Reality Room” alternates between thrashy modern riffs and calm, melodic passages reminiscent of Joe Satriani, offering listeners a dynamic journey through sound and imagery.

“I hope fans take the titles of each song seriously. Each track was written based on visuals and contemporary matters,” says Fernandes.

Fernandes’ new six-track album “Carbon Purge Acceleration” unfolds as a sonic journey that shifts fluidly from aggressive intensity to ethereal soundscapes. He describes the work as “a true creative cauldron,” blending fusion, modern progressive metal, and nostalgic eighties influences without being confined to genre labels. The album’s artwork reinforces its thematic depth, portraying a divine digital entity revered by worshippers blind to its destructive force, an allegory for the entanglement of technology and chaos in contemporary life. Each track contributes to this layered narrative, “John Hughes Didn’t Direct My Life” channels a nostalgic, 80s-inspired shred; “Flight of the Navigator”, surges forward with fast-paced prog metal, fusion harmonies, and daring time signatures; “Heavy Droids” explores the complexity of 7/4 prog metal, weaving in melodic, slow-tempo passages; and “The Death of Synthetic Curation” closes with a haunting solo guitar piece, drenched in ambient effects that linger like echoes of dissolution. Together, these compositions form a bold, genre-defying statement that is both visceral and thought-provoking.

Recommended for fans of Steve Vai, Fear Factory, Meshuggah, Devin Townsend, and Periphery, “Carbon Purge Acceleration” (released Sept 21st, 2025) is available at the following links:

“Even without lyrics, each track carries a narrative that mixes the future, technology, and chaos. It is an invitation to reflect, while intense riffs and solos draw highly unconventional soundscapes. Musically, I do not follow ready-made formulas. The album blends fusion, modern prog metal, and eighties references in a sound that reinvents itself with every track. Instead of compartmentalized styles, the result is a true creative cauldron. The great thing about the work is precisely not being constrained by labels. Everything is mixed all the time.” – Silas Fernandes

About The Album Artwork:

It’s a digital/ divine being worshiped by people who didn’t realize this creature is destroying everyone.

About the album as a whole:

Musically, the album is a palette of aggressive to sweet and pensive music.

Track by Track:

1. Earth was Boring: Heavy and aggressive song that mixes modern metal with some metalcore vibes, ending with a melodic shred solo.

2. Escape the Reality Room: Alternate thrashy modern metal riffs with calm and melodic moments a la Joe Satriani.

3. John Hughes Didn’t Direct my Life: This one is super 80s vibe, with lots of melodic ideas, like a mixture of Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.

4. Flight of the Navigator: It’s an intense and fast prog metal with harmonically fusion ideas mixed with aggressive and melodic solos and ending with weird tempo signatures.

5. Heavy Droids: It is a 7/4 prog metal with melodic slow tempo moments.

6. The Death of Synthetic Curation: This is an ethereal song played just with one guitar, interacting beautifully with some special ambient effects.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Before social media, I released an instructional video about licks and riffs on VHS. In the video, I told the audience that I have a broken pinky finger on my left hand. After that, “fake news” was spread that I didn’t have the pinky finger on my left hand.

2. At the beginning of the song “The demon called algorithm”, from the album “Improve”, there is a choir of Buddhist monks vocalizing on a very low tone, which matches the tonality of the song.

3. The voice of the robot on “Heavy Droids” and “Earth was Boring” was sampled from “Fulgor”, a character from the game “Killer Instinct”, and reversed to produce a distinct tone.

4. My first album, “Silas Fernandes” from 1995, was recorded at a studio that belongs to a corny Christian record label. The owner, who was my dad’s friend, allowed me to use the studio for free in the middle of the night. I just had to pay for the sound engineer.

5. In addition to being a guitarist, a music producer, content creator, I am the owner of Electric Eye Audio, a company that makes guitar pedals and digital files for metal guitar.

Silas Fernandes began in music as a teenager, playing in the heavy metal band of the legendary “metal” scene in the ABC region in São Paulo (Brazil) in a band named Esfinge, along with Andreas Kisser, who would later become the guitarist for Sepultura.

During his 35-year career, Silas had the opportunity to develop his skills through various opportunities, which included positions as a guitar instructor at IG&T (Guitar Institute of Technology Brazil), producer, business consultant, and finally, as a guitarist who has worked with many names on the Brazilian Music business, including your solo career with more than 5 releases already.

He began his solo career, releasing instructional videos and teaching, in addition to playing with several different bands and artists as a  hired gun

As a producer, Silas always kept up to date concerning the styles of bands and tricks involving music production by working as a “guitar tech” for renowned artists in Brazil as well he writing The Book “Set Up” and later becoming a course in EM&T (School of music and technology).

He kept his solo career in workshops and clinics throughout Brazil, parallel to his work as a music producer and guitar instructor.

In 2014,  he started his own YouTube channel, which shows another characteristic of Silas Fernandes: a humorous, relaxed, and most importantly, an expert in technological content related to electric guitar equipment and music production tips.

In 2015, Silas moved to Virginia in the US, where he delivers his own successful YouTube show called Rig on Fire every Thursday.

In 2020 started an English version of his Rig on Fire Show on a new channel on Youtube.

Now sponsored by  EMG pickups, Solar guitars, Black Smith strings, and Electric Eye Audio.

In July of 2024 Solar guitars team up with him to release his first Signature Model the A1.6 Silas Canibalismo!
