SEVENTH STATION Unveil Proggy, Eclectic Video “Unspoken Thoughts” Shot Across Three Countries (Slovenia, Turkey, Israel)

New Album “Heal the Unhealed” Out Now!

Seventh Station is a progressive metal band based in Slovenia that has just released their second album “Heal the Unhealed”. The record is an international effort – rehearsed and recorded through five different studios in three continents ranging from the United States, Slovenia, and Turkey. A new level of musicality and artistic expression blends magnificent sweeps, heavy riffs, and intricate melodies together, creating an eclectic proggy frame for personal topics. They now have a music video for their single “Unspoken Thoughts”.

The band describes the sound of the album, as the sound of a panic attack, and a progressive assault on the ears, very much for the open-minded, and not at all for the weak-hearted. Musically, this album commands that the listener elects to take the long path rather than seek instant gratification and it promises to be very satisfying for those who manage to go through the entire orchard. The band comments on the single “Unspoken Thoughts”:

“Unspoken Thoughts” is the opening track of the record, setting the tone and the general mood. Its form is unusually close to a regular song form for us, in terms of the structure of sections. It is also the first music video production we shot, taking place in three different countries (Slovenia, Turkey, and Israel). It is the first time we see all the band members performing in a music video and playing their instruments. The song talks about unresolved and unprocessed things one keeps inside and how eventually it explodes in a shattering way.”

Guitarist Dmitri Alperovich shares that he always feels like there’s a lot of room for exploration in both writing and composition, and approaches the tracks not as songs, but rather as classical music forms. It was only natural for him to blend these two different disciplines together – from a strictly classical music approach into the progressive metal where they keep reinventing the rules.

“Unspoken Thoughts” is recommended for fans of Pain of Salvation, Frank Zappa, and Dream Theater and can be seen and heard via its video premiere on TheCirclePit – https://youtu.be/blLWRyeZ7QM

About: Seventh Station is a progressive metal band based in Slovenia, led by Israeli Guitarist Dmitri Alperovich and Turkish Keyboardist Eren Başbuğ. Constructing their sound by fusing progressive metal with contemporary classical music, the band’s new album Healed the Unhealed is their second full-length record, released independently. Featuring an international lineup, Davidavi “Vidi” Dolev (Vocals), Jure Lopatic (Bass), and Grega Plamberger (Drums). On their new record, Seventh Station adds to their “on the edge” performances and compositions more blood, more sweat, and more tears.

Formed between the Academy of Music & Dance in Jerusalem and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Seventh Station released its debut album Between Life and Dreams in 2016. After relocating to Europe and a few line-up changes, Alperovich and Başbuğ knew no borders in the search for uncompromising compositions and musical executors, progressive and challenging. After several tours between the Middle East and post-Yugoslavia, the band gathered together on recording ‘Heal the Unhealed’. Inspired by the Second World War and the Soviet Union, the album is an hour-long reflection in the eyes of Alperovich, who was born in Minsk, Belarus, moved to Israel and eventually found his way to Slovenia. Featuring surrealistic epos, harnessing the band’s skillful abilities in order to express Kafkaesque situations, Heal the Unhealed examines resemblances between dictatorships and the personality disorders of an artist.

Seventh Station is now gearing up for their upcoming record Heal the Unhealed released on November 7th, 2022, along with a supporting tour through Europe and the Middle East, to be announced later this Fall.

“This album creates and destroys barriers, making a point to invoke drama about the Second World War. The band has explored every aspect of orchestration in the form of King Crimson and dements the Frank Zappa sound that bombards the listener. They present complex arrangements and deep intricate movements. These are both alienating and perfect forms of musical momentum. Each phase has been constructed by the composer to invoke the sonic dissonance of the Stalin era of the Soviet Union.” – Caved Weller Music

“Heal the Unhealed will bring tears of joy to those who are open to the unconventional and appreciate brilliant musicians who know how to express themselves creatively in the best possible way, away from the commercial pressure of big labels.” – Skull News

“SEVENTH STATION is one of my most important discoveries in 2022. “Heal the Unleaded” has everything from a great album: complexity, double meanings, references, alternation (from drama to caricature), execution to cord, perfect fit between music and subject and, above all, it’s clever and excellently produced. If you “get inside” you will not get out until you have discovered all the subtleties it contains.” – Plus Prog de Vous

“The guys definitely show that they are a very up-and-coming, well-thought-out Progressive Metal band”. – MetalUnderground.at

New Album “Heal the Unhealed” Out November 7th

Seventh Station is a progressive metal band based in Slovenia, who are excited to announce their second album “Heal the Unhealed”.

The band comments on the album:

“After two years of delay due to the crazy pandemic, we are more than happy to release our new album “Heal the Unhealed” and share it with the rest of the world. This hidden gem was on the shelf way too long and its timing couldn’t be more appropriate. Reflecting on historical events and their psychologies through the album, we can see that history doesn’t change but repeats in variations, as the war in the east keeps raging in the present.”

In advance of the album’s official release on November 7th, Seventh Station has teamed up with AllAboutTheRock for its full-stream premiere.

Listen HERE.

Seventh Station expects that fans will be pleased with the latest offering, as compositionally, performance and production-wise they believe they have done some of their absolute best work to this day. Crafted meticulously, the band looks at it like a novel or a movie and suggests there’s a lot to discover even after the first pass of listening.

Seventh Station has put great effort into its compositions and performances, taking them to the next level with a wider palette of colors. From dreamy atmospheres to technical madnesses, it’s a musically diverse record. According to guitarist Dmitri Alperovich, the writing on the album and recording of it was his way to fight with the demons of his past and roots. “Heal The Unhealed” was mixed, and mastered by Matej Gobec at The Cosmosonic Studios, and the album artwork was done by Tal Asulin, it is recommended listening for fans of Opeth, Pain of Salvation, and Frank Zappa.

“Heal The Unhealed” will be available on November 7, 2022.

Prog Metallers SEVENTH STATION’s Next Single “The Ruthless Koba” Reflects A Soviet Union Childhood

New Album “Heal the Unhealed” Out November 7th

Slovenian progressive metallers Seventh Station will be presenting their second album “Heal the Unhealed” this coming November. The record is an international effort – rehearsed and recorded through five different studios on three continents ranging from the United States, Slovenia, and Turkey. Full of magnificent sweeps, heavy riffs, and intricate melodies, the band creates an eclectic progressive experience.

For this sophomore effort, band founder and guitarist Dmitri Alperovich wanted to bring his personal point of view from his roots growing up as a Soviet Union child before his family moved to Israel, before finally settling in Slovenia.

“I went through a lot of different circumstances and the processes of adaptation for each country – also resulting in anxiety and panic attacks after all these significant paradigm shifts. Heal The Unhealed is a personal reflection on these experiences and the psychological states they brought, voiced through different characters, including the primary actors of the conditions I had back in the Soviet Union,” adds Alperovich.

Today, Seventh Station presents a studio video for their third single “The Ruthless Koba”, which is an original arrangement of Dmitri Shostakovich’s 10th Symphony – 2nd Movement (op. 93).

Alperovich explains the song in further detail:

“This instrumental track is an original arrangement of a classical orchestral epic, Dmitri Shostakovich’s 10th Symphony, second movement. The arrangement was written by Dmitri Alperovich and it’s the second part of the Soviet Union / Stalin trilogy. The original movement is a description by Shostakovich, of the circumstances and conditions through Stalin’s evilness as the ruler of the Soviet Union. It was very important for us to represent the atmosphere of the original work, so we made a great effort to both respects and celebrate it through the arrangement decisions. Koba was the nickname that Stalin was given by his close friends and the name of the track is an attempt to show the duality between the “friendly” Koba and the ruthless dictator.”

Watch and listen to “The Ruthless Koba” via its premiere on MetalInsider HERE.

Following their debut album 2016’s “Between Life and Dreams”, Seventh Station’s sophomore record “Heal the Unhealed” comes out after two years of delay due to the Covid pandemic, and the band is excited to share its six creative and inventive progressive influenced metal songs. Ready to be discovered, it’s a hidden gem that was on the shelf way too long and its timing couldn’t be more appropriate. Overall, the album reflects historical events and their psychologies throughout its listening experience. From dreamy atmospheres to technical madness’, it’s a musically diverse record.

Vocalist Davidavi Dolev, who was involved for the first time with writing lyrics and vocal lines, explains the full length:

“I wanted to find the right ‘voice’ for the lyrics, trying to voice Dmitri’s musical ideas through surrealism and through the absurd. So, lyrically the point was to magnify even more the panic attacks Dmitri was trying to describe, through the light of harsh and incomprehensible historical events. This album could very much be a progressive assault on the ear, very much for the open-minded, not at all for the weak-hearted. Musically this album is choosing the long path rather than quick gratification but at the same time very satisfying for those who manage to go through this entire orchard.”

Applying the knowledge and techniques from classical music in to progressive metal, Seventh Station is an artistic progressive metal band that makes personal storytelling into an auditory event that must be experienced from beginning the end.

Recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Symphony X, and Opeth, Seventh Station‘s “Heal the Unhealed” comes out on November 7, 2022.

0 TheProgSpace Premiering SEVENTH STATION’s Music Video For “The Heart of a Nation (Nadia)”; New Album “Heal the Unhealed” Out November 7th

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 9, 2022

TheProgSpace Premiering SEVENTH STATION’s Music Video For “The Heart of a Nation (Nadia)”

New Album “Heal the Unhealed” Out November 7th

Seventh Station is a progressive metal band based in Slovenia, who are excited to announce their second album “Heal the Unhealed”. The record is an international effort – rehearsed and recorded through five different studios on three continents ranging from the United States, Slovenia, and Turkey. A new level of musicality and artistic expression blends magnificent sweeps, heavy riffs, and intricate melodies together, creating an eclectic proggy frame for personal topics. The second single is “The Heart of a Nation (Nadia)”.

In the album, guitarist Dmitri Alperovich wanted to bring his personal point of view on his roots as a Soviet Union child. Spending his childhood in the Soviet Union, then his youth in Israel, and finally having moved to Slovenia, he went through a lot of different circumstances and the processes of adaptation for each – also resulting in anxiety and panic attacks after all these significant paradigm shifts. “Heal The Unhealed” is a personal reflection on these experiences and the psychological states they brought, voiced through different characters, including the primary actors of the conditions in the Soviet Union. He continues to explain:

“While the album started to take shape as the lyrical content and the general concepts were formed, this song became the first part of the Soviet Union / Stalin trilogy, which later became the main topic of the album. The song describes the poisonous relationship between the former Soviet Union leader, Joseph Stalin, and his second wife Nadezhda Sergeyevna Alliluyeva (Nadia). The official video was shot in Jerusalem, featuring contemporary dance choreography, put together by choreographer Maya Popova and the co-creator Anatoly Shenfeld.”

Having studied classical music and being an avid fan of many other music genres, Alperovich’s idea of Seventh Station emerged from applying the knowledge and techniques from classical music in to progressive metal, creating a platform for him to express his ideas. The result is daring, colourful, and artistic. Seventh Station is recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Symphony X, and Opeth.

The music video for “The Heart of a Nation (Nadia)” can be seen and heard via its premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

The full album “Heal the Unhealed” comes out on November 7, 2022.

Album pre-order is available at http://www.seventh-station.com.

============================================================

The album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

– Davidavi Dolev – Vocals – “The album is the sound of a panic attack, and could very much be a progressive assault on the ear, so much is going on at the same time it’s a really demanding listen, not at all for the weak-hearted and very much for the open minded. musically this album is choosing the long path rather than quick gratification but at the same time very satisfying for those who manage to go through this entire orchard.

This is the first time I’m involved in writing the lyrics and the vocal lines for Seventh Station and I wanted to find the right ‘voice’ for the lyrics, trying to voice Dmitri’s musical ideas through surrealism and through the absurd. so, lyrically the point was to magnify even more the panic attacks Dmitri was trying to describe through the light of harsh incomprehensible historical events. I exceptionally relate to the ‘Heart of a Nation’ trilogy from which ‘All Hail the Moustache’ is from as I think it’s the top of our mutual work and I can’t wait until we release the other video clips of this trilogy.”

Dmitri Alperovich – Guitar – “Heal the Unhealed” is inspired by the events of the Second World War and the Soviet Union. The title itself reflects on a panic attack I experienced for the first time during the keyboard recordings in Boston. Soon enough I also realized once this type of experience occurs it becomes something you need to learn how to live with rather than completely healing it.

– The album was composed after our debut release Between Life and Dreams in 2016 and recorded throughout 2020 in three different countries. The keyboard recordings took place between Boston and Turkey, while the rest of the band recorded in Slovenia, through three different studios.

 – We have six tracks in the album, where three of the tracks we call the Stalin trilogy. These tracks are the main theme of the album and deal between Stalin’s inner ego struggle and his tough personal relationships in the context of the Soviet Union. We offer a view of these events from our perspective based on historical knowledge. Although the other half of the tracks are loosely connected with this theme, they stand more as individual songs.”

Track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

1. Dmitri: The name of the band is actually a math calculation of numbers that were hunting me in the past (you can find out about it in Between Life and Dreams). The short story is: when I was checking the time I always encountered at the hour 13:48 (1:48pm), and I jokingly made up a conspiracy theory about these numbers. In the days we were forming the band, we liked the idea that it would be ‘something Station’. One day, I decided to keep adding the numbers from the clock- 1, 3, 4, 8, and eventually, the calculation resulted in 7. That’s the story behind how we picked the name Seventh Station. Even today, lots of things regarding the band are circling around this number.

2. Dmitri: In one of our shows I had to play Mirage at Yourself from our debut album (one of the hardest songs in our catalog) blindfolded because I lost a bet with our bassist Jure.

3. Heal the Unhealed is an international effort being rehearsed and recorded through five different studios on three continents ranging from the United States, Slovenia and Turkey.

4. The Ruthless Koba, the fourth track from Heal the Unhealed is a portrait of Stalin by Shostakovich, the second movement of his 10th Symphony. At the end of the track, we put an excerpt from a Soviet propaganda movie praising Stalin where Shostakovich was forced to compose the soundtrack for it – as an interesting contradictory contrast.

5. The entire vocals for the record were recorded during the first week of the global pandemic outbreak. Our vocalist Vidi flew to Ljubljana to record his parts, only to get stuck due to the global lockdowns and travel restrictions. He ended up recording the vocals by himself with our engineer Matej Gobec, although they had not met before the sessions.

About:

Seventh Station is a progressive metal band based in Slovenia, led by Israeli Guitarist Dmitri Alperovich and Turkish Keyboardist Eren Başbuğ.

Seventh Station (Dream Theater, Subterranean Masquerade members) Stare Down Tyranny With Single “All Hail the Moustache”

L-R: Eren Basbug, Jure Lopatic, Davidavi Dolev, Dmitri Alperovich, Grega Plamberger

Seventh Station, led by guitarist Dmitri Alperovich and featuring keyboard player Eren Başbuğ (mostly known for his work with Jordan Rudess and Dream Theater) along with Davidavi ‘Vidi’ Dolev (frontman of Subterranean Masquerade) are ready to release their first single in five years. “All Hail the Moustache” blurs the line between reality and hallucination and is especially relevant to present world events. Along with reaching a new level of musicality and artistic expression, the band hopes that listeners will gain something from listening to it and find all the hidden messages in the music.

According to them, the single is a manic track portraying the grandiosity of a tyrant, a power trip that is getting out of hand, an active volcano hoping for some sort of immortality, spiraling out of control under waves of paranoia. Ironically, at the same time, it could also portray the minds of some artists. They chose the Moustache as a symbol of an ever-growing force of dark leaders in recent history, and though the current tyrants are shaved, we all know what goes under their skin. Guitarist Dmitri Alperovich explains the track and the accompanying video further:

“Through the intense music and the shocking video, we call people to respect each other and say no to any kind of war or dictatorship around the world. The animation was done by the great Finnish animator, Mika Tyyska, who worked on Dream Theater’s ‘Octavarium’ animation and he managed to put his unique input into our ideas. Slovenian actor, Anton Strojin, is starring in the first part of the video and is bringing his colorful acting to the surreal script, prepare yourself, this is a strange one.”

“All Hail the Moustache” is just the beginning, the tip of the iceberg of what to expect next from Seventh Station who has other singles in the works which will eventually lead to the full, concept album.

Theatrical magic on steroids, Seventh Station passionate storytellers, and classically trained musicians/composers are recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, and Opeth.

About:

Slovenian-based progressive metal band Seventh Station is back with its second album “Heal the Unhealed” and it’s heavier, faster, and more artistic than ever. Led by guitarist Dmitri Alperovich, “Heal the Unhealed” is an album inspired by the events of the 20th century, focusing on the Second World War and the Soviet Union, reflected in the eyes of Alperovich, who was born in Minsk, Belarus, immigrated to Israel and eventually found his way to Slovenia. The album is an hour-long surrealistic epic, harnessing the band’s virtuoso abilities in order to express Kafkaesque situations, juxtaposing dictatorship’s disorders with the personality disorders of an artist.

The album was recorded during 2020, between Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Boston, Massachusetts, and is also featuring keyboard player Eren Başbuğ (mostly known for his work with Jordan Rudess and Dream Theater), singer Davidavi ‘Vidi’ Dolev (frontman of Subterranean Masquerade, etc.) and is engineered mixed and mastered by Slovenian producer Matej Gobec (Laibach, Fishbone, Dub trio, etc.). These days, Seventh Station is label shopping, looking for a home for “Heal the Unhealed”, working on a film concert in Turkey, and is in the process of booking a tour after COVID-19. We invite you to listen to “All Hail The Moustache”, the band’s first single in 5 years.
