============

Quiescent Mantis‘ debut album “Here Comes The Swarm” was produced by Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis, Gone In April) at WaveTransform Recording Studio and unleashed in July 2024 on Exitus Stratagem Records. The genre-defying release blends elements of hardcore, thrash, death, and metalcore into a whirlwind of relentless aggression.

Formed during the tumultuous COVID-19 lockdown, Quiescent Mantis emerged from the fusion of former scientists Chris Trainor, Jordan McKenzie, and Johnny Mejia. Previously employed by the enigmatic Sub-atomic Weight Of Acceleration Research Mechanics (S.W.A.R.M.), the trio embarked on a musical journey after inadvertently opening a doorway to the mantis homeworld during a particle collision experiment, exposing themselves to a mind-altering pheromone. Thus, the Chapter 1 demo was born in 2021.

Inspired by a love for old science fiction movies and thrash metal, Quiescent Mantis presents a unique, aggressive, groovy, heavy, and relentless sound that blends old-school metal techniques with new-school innovations. The band aims to provide listeners with a groundbreaking experience, combining elements of classic and contemporary metal in a manner never before heard. They are recommended for fans of Orbit Culture, Havok, and Power Trip.

“With this album, it truly shows not only how we come together as musicians but as storytellers. This album is all the best elements of thrash metal and science fiction horror movies put into one single package. ‘Here Comes The Swarm’ is the sound we created to release the swarm to the world.”

Today, the band is unveiling their latest playthrough for “P.R.E.Y.” from bassist Jordan McKenzie, which was filmed during the winter months earlier this year in the Smoky Mountains just South of Knoxville. The playthrough takes you on a visual yet technical adventure while the song creates a feeling of being hunted down by what seems to be an unstoppable force!

Hailing from Tennessee, USA, Quiescent Mantis is geared up to unleash primal fury with their debut album “Here Comes The Swarm” produced by Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis, Gone In April) at WaveTransform Recording Studio and due out on July 19th on Exitus Stratagem Records. The genre-defying release blends elements of hardcore, thrash, death, and metalcore into a whirlwind of relentless aggression.

“With this album, it truly shows not only how we come together as musicians but as storytellers. This album is all the best elements of thrash metal and science fiction horror movies put into one single package. ‘Here Comes The Swarm’ is the sound we created to release the swarm to the world.”

The band continues to explain that their goal is to give listeners the thrill of discovering metal for the first time. The writing process for this album was fueled by their collective stress, frustrations, and the challenges we all face, all brought to life through heavy, groovy, and relentless music. Each song is its own beast, crafted to evoke intense emotions and a sense of discovery.

Lyrically, the band draws inspiration from science fiction films like “Alien”, infusing their music with underlying themes and a touch of humor. Jordan McKenzie spearheads the lyrical compositions, weaving together narratives that reflect the struggles and triumphs of everyday life. The album artwork is a look into the hive and the queen mantis and what she has done to the humans taken back to the hive welcoming (if you can call it that) to the swarm. The album is recommended for fans of Orbit Culture, Havok, Power Trip, and Pantera.

Quiescent Mantis, from Tennessee, USA, a hard-hitting progressive thrash metal trio with a history as intriguing as their music, is thrilled to announce the release of their new video single, “Primal Form of Aggression”, from their debut album “Here Comes The Swarm” produced by Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis, Gone In April) at WaveTransform Recording Studio and due out on July 19th on Exitus Stratagem Records. With its aggressive riffs, relentless rhythms, and thought-provoking lyrics inspired by science fiction and real-life experiences, the single delivers manic whiplash. The band explains in further detail:

“‘Primal Form of Aggression’ is a song we wrote around something everyone has faced, the song is written around the anger when someone is purposely going out of their way to pick at you or pick on you just to get a reaction from you. Sometimes the reaction comes from a Primal form of aggression.”

Quiescent Mantis, comprised of former scientists Chris Trainor, Jordan McKenzie, and Johnny Mejia, emerged from an extraordinary origin story. While employed at Sub-atomic Weight Of Acceleration Research Mechanics (S.W.A.R.M.), the trio inadvertently opened a doorway to the mantis homeworld during a particle collision experiment.

Exposed to mind-altering pheromones, they transformed their scientific acumen into musical prowess, resulting in the formation of the band during the COVID-19 lockdown. Their unique blend of old-school and new-school metal techniques, combined with a deep love for science fiction, has set them apart in the metal scene. They are recommended for fans of Orbit Culture, Power Trip, Havok, and Pantera.

Tennessee Thrash QUIESCENT MANTIS Announces New Album “Here Comes the Swarm”

And Releases Music Videos for “Shake the Cage” and “Fight”

Quiescent Mantis, the dynamic metal band hailing from the depths of Tennessee, USA, is thrilled to announce the release of their second album “Here Comes the Swarm” produced by Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis, Gone In April) at WaveTransform Recording Studio and due out on July 19th on Exitus Stratagem Records. Prior to this release, they are reminding thrash maniacs that they have two music videos out already for the tracks “Shake the Cage” and “Fight” available now on YouTube. They comment on the videos:

“‘Shake the Cage’ is about civilization finally pushing back and realizing that people on top are using status and fame as a platform to tell us how to act and what we do with our own lives. Civilization is fed up and is starting to point all in one direction and coming together to get answers on why they are shaking the cage. ‘Fight’ is really based on the battle scenes from ‘Starship Troopers’, a battle between bugs and humans.”

Formed during the tumultuous times of the COVID-19 lockdown, Quiescent Mantis emerged from the fusion of former scientists Chris Trainor, Jordan McKenzie, and Johnny Mejia.

EPK – Quiescent Mantis – Here Comes the Swarm (2024)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“This is our very first album and we titled ‘Here Comes The Swarm’. It truly shows not only how we come together as musicians but as story tellers. This album is all the best elements of thrash metal and science fiction horror movies put into one single package. Here comes the swarm is the sound we created to release the swarm to the world.” – Quiescent Mantis

“Loaded with battle vests, beer, baldness and breakdowns, Quiescent Mantis have delivered a highly entertaining four minutes into the conversation (Primal Aggression Music Video).” – Decibel Magazine

“With its aggressive riffs, its rhythms implacable and his stimulating lyrics inspired as much by science fiction as of recent experiences, Here Comes The Swarm delivers a good punch in the face! This album brings together All the best elements of thrash metal and it should appeal to fans of Orbit Culture, Power Trip, Havok and Pantera! 4.5/5” – Metallian Magazine

“QUIESCENT MANTIS does a great job, delivers strong performance and is also well positioned in terms of craftsmanship.” – PowerMetal.de
“The trio takes thrash metal and punches in hardcore and death metal for a release complete with constant twists.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“An album to seek out if a fun and engaging trip into an extreme metal meets thrash metal type of universe is a prospect that intrigues you.” – The Viking in the Wilderness

“Biting down on a stick the trio then get anvil heavy with groove laden title track “Here Comes The Swarm“, an intense tune with a cool bass solo and the kind of vocal brutality that might make you think this was another band entirely. Dirty, dirge laden riffs dredge the lake in search of corpses and the result is a headbangable mosh pit filler than is absolutely delicious.” – Metal Noise

“Here Comes the Swarm is a testament to Quiescent Mantis’ ability to turn an extraordinary backstory into a powerful metal experience. The album’s intricate blend of aggressive sounds and thematic depth makes it a standout release in the metal genre.” – Amplify The Noise

“‘Primal Form of Aggression’ thrives on an exquisite use of the mid-range power chords in the opening riff. Then, the trio force a hardcore beatdown crunch on the listener like vigilantes cleaning the hoodlums off their streets. Dimebag Darrell’s DNA is all over these chunky guitar constructs. The spaced-out breakdown at the end is a generous gift for a live audience to appreciate.” – Scream Blast Repeat

“It’s a fun ride from QUIESCENT MANTIS and even the awkward parts are pretty easy to overlook. I’ll bet this band is a neck-wrecker live!” – Wormwood Chronicles

About The Album Artwork

The album artwork is a look into the hive and the queen mantis and what she has done to the humans taken back to the hive welcoming (if you can call it that) to the swarm

About the album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

Aggressive to say the least but has something for everyone, hardcore, thrash, death, and metalcore all from one band

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

1. Open the gates- the opening the start to all that happens in the album. It is the release of the swarm on the world. This one really is for the fans of true thrash metal more of a traditional fashion thrash song with a bit of new school vocal technique.
2. Here comes the swarm- this is the first time civilization as we know is engulfed in a swarm of giant bugs that are pushing for full world domination.

3. Apex predator-oh man where to begin this is when the hive mind of the swarm takes over the news media and media in general, in an attempt to force everyone to think the same and incite violence against anyone who opposes.

4. P.R.E.Y.- is the feeling of being hunted down by what seems like an unstoppable force

5. Shake the Cage- civilization is finally pushing back and realizing that people on top are using status and fame as a platform to tell us how to act and what we do with our own lives. Civilization is fed up and is starting to point all in one direction and coming together to get answers on why they are shaking the cage.

6. Breed. Feed. Repeat- is what happens after you are taken to the hive, some are eaten but most are used as egg carriers for the growing bug army.

7. Primal form of aggression- is the first fight back song civilization is pissed and is fighting everyone that stands in their way

8. Killer Bee, Killed- the true form of fight or flight you are backed into the corner nowhere to go either you kill or be Killed

9. Fight- is really based on the battle scenes from ‘Starship Troopers’ a battle between bugs and humans

10. This is the end! – The bugs eventually take over and defenses fall the swarm is unstoppable

============================================================

Story Angles – Fun Facts:

1. The lyrics for all the songs are primarily based on science fiction horror movies such as ‘Alien’ and ‘Starship Troopers’

2. The Music video for ‘Primal Form of Aggression ‘ was shot on a Wednesday night as a free show with 3 other great local bands from Knoxville, TN (warclown, oceans until, and dispair)

3. The Dead Bug shirt actually has Chris Trainor’s (lead guitarist) actual project car on the front

4. Johnny Mejia actually plays drum In a cumbia band when he isn’t playing with the swarm!!

5. A lot of shows Chris Johnny and Jordan will all be moshing for all the bands we don’t believe in hiding behind the doors in the green room. Most of the time we will be with everyone just having a great time.

Formed during the tumultuous times of the COVID-19 lockdown, Quiescent Mantis emerged from the fusion of former scientists Chris Trainor, Jordan McKenzie, and Johnny Mejia.

Exitus Stratagem Records is proud to announce their signing of Knoxville, TN death thrashers Quiescent Mantis for the release of their yet-to-be-titled first full-length album to follow the 2021 debut EP “Chapter 1”. The band has unveiled already a sneak peek of what’s come from the record with currently released singles “Shake The Cage” and the instrumental mosher “Fight”. The band aims to provide a unique experience with a mixture of old-school thrash and new-school metal techniques such as breakdowns, which will be prevalent on their new album that is being produced by Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis, Gone In April) at WaveTransform Recording Studio.

Exitus Stratagem Records label president Jason Z. Fisher comments on the signing:

“From the moment we heard the opening chords of Shake the Cage and its throwback guitar solos and catchy chorus, we knew we had to get their music out to a broader audience. All that and a giant mantis. How can you resist? The well-envisioned science fiction undertones of their lyrics and concepts bring something fresh and new to the table. ExSR is very excited to help bring Quiescent Mantis’s first full-length album to the world. We also plan some visualizers worthy of the creative concepts they have built.”

Quiescent Mantis guitarist Chris Trainor adds:

“We are super excited about signing with EXSR. We knew when Jason came to us about our song Shake The Cage and how he described it made us truly feel he was excited about our music, which in turn we knew this was the company we wanted to push our first full-length album. With this album there is a little bit of everything for every listener super heavy unrelenting tracks to super melodic tracks there is a song for everyone and we can’t be more excited to have a great company helping us along the way.”

The album release date, cover artwork, track listing and single will be revealed at a later date. Quiescent Mantis is recommended for fans of Orbit Culture, Power Trip, and Havok.

About:
Former scientists Chris Trainor, Jordan McKenzie, and Johnny Mejia were previously employed by Sub-atomic Weight of Acceleration Research Mechanics or S.W.A.R.M. While working on a project involving particle collision the team inadvertently tore open a brief doorway to the mantis homeworld exposing themselves to a mind-altering pheromone in the process.

The trio is now obsessed with opening the portal permanently allowing their mantis overlords access to our world; they are harbingers of the Swarm, selected to terraform and prepare Earth for the coming invasion. Wielding mighty instruments of sonic assault they herald the approach of the swarm of the brutal blend of thrash death metal and hardcore. The Swarm has slumbered in exile for far too long, the gates are ready to open, and it’s time to join the Swarm!

Fun Facts:

1. We love to call our fans and crowd the swarm on and off the stage.

2. We actually got to hang out and interview Kurt from crowbar before sound check which was a huge highlight of our 2022 year.

3. A lot of inspiration for our riffs and songs comes from the alien movie franchise and video games.

4. Along with a lot of pre-show rituals we have Jordan eats candy, Johnny listens to old-school metal, and Chris moshes to other bands and drinks with the fans.

5. Chris tries at every show to buy a shirt from the other bands that we play with to wear on stage at other shows.
