Canada’s DEATH CLUB Release Debut Album “Betrayal” and Music Video “Bring Me Home”

Death Club lineup (L-R): Chelsea Todd (Drums) | Dana Bowman (Vocals/Guitar) | Adam Baldwin (Bass) – Photo by: Rae Chatten

Canadian modern metal 3-piece DEATH CLUB have released their debut album “Betrayal” along with a music video for the song “Bring Me Home”.

“This album was intended to empower anyone who has been let down by others, felt abandoned, or has experienced the desire for vengeance. Betrayal – being the concept and name of the album, expresses treachery through each song in its own unique way. Some are less obvious than others, as betrayal isn’t always so obvious. Sonically, we focused on super heavy riffs, effervescent grooves, pure density, and sharp hooks. If you are into modern metal, this is definitely an album you don’t want to miss out on.” – Dana Death (Vocalist/Guitarist)

Death Club’s sound has been described as catchy, heavy, and groovy, drawing influences from modern heavy metal, deathcore, groove, and traditional rock music. What sets Death Club apart from all the bands in the local scene is their “Death doesn’t discriminate” policy, allowing fans of all metal genres to be included, and participate in Death Club. Using drop F as a standard guitar tuning, and traditional song arrangements, it’s not hard for the band to attain the super heavy sound they are known for, but still be accessible to every single person in the crowd.

TOLEDO DEATH FEST Announces 2024 Lineup

w/ OCEANO, THE CONVALESCENCE, VISCERAL DISGORGE, ROSE FUNERAL, CASKET ROBBERY and more!

A destructive vortex of extreme metal returns to Toledo, OH this coming June 8th, with TOLEDO DEATH FEST announcing its 2024 lineup featuring OCEANO, THE CONVALESCENCE, VISCERAL DISGORGE, ROSE FUNERAL, CASKET ROBBERY, and more!

Hosted at Mainstreet Bar & Grill (141 Main St.), the all-ages event will be hosted with two stages of non-stop brutality from some of the midwest’s most gut-punching visceral spitting metal to plow into Toledo.

Highlights of the confirmed bands include headliners Oceano with their blast beats, sonic double bass, slow heavy breakdowns, low death metal growls, and shrieking metalcore vocals ready to annihilate the pit with their discography since 2009. The Convalescence is one of the USA’s unstoppable tour de forces, pillaging all across the globe to support their latest album “Harvesters Of Flesh And Bone”. Baltimore’s brutal death metal tyrants Visceral Disgorge bring their slamming riffs, guttural growls, and an onslaught of blast beats to savage the pit. Hailing from Cincinnati, OH, Rose Funeral brings its haunting deathcore melodies, insane blasts, and groove to tremble festival goers. Emerging from the darkest and most desolate areas of the Midwest, Casket Robbery creates its signature style of death metal by infusing horror and occult themes. Their trademark huge riffs and unstoppable grooves create the unrelenting, brutally catchy, and eerie sound that only Casket Robbery is known for.

Since its inception in 2009 by Keith Wampler, the frontman of The Convalescence and owner of The Legend Agency, the festival has showcased the talents of some of the American Midwest’s best up-and-coming metal bands. Past editions have seen past support from well-known artists such as Jungle Rot, Malevolent Creation, Filth, Signs of The Swarm and The Breathing Process among many more. The festival has been an extreme metal pilgrimage for fans living in the surrounding states of Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

About: Toledo Deathfest was originally created in 2009 as a way to bring bands in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan together once a year and showcase their music to the local scene. It has continued as an annual festival featuring Local, Regional, and Underground Touring artists. In 2021 Festival Promoter Keith Wampler (The Legend Agency/The Convalescence) decided to expand the festival to multiple stages and to feature larger artists as well as a variety of underground acts with plans to grow the festival even more each year with Jungle Rot headlining 2021, Malevolent Creation headlining 2022, Signs of the Swarm headlining 2023 and now Oceano headlining 2024.

NEVER ELECTED Release Rock N Roll Lyric Video For “One Of These Days” Off Re-Release Of “Turbulent” Out April 2024

One of Washington DCs most entertaining and electrifying acts, Never Elected (nominated as a finalist in this year’s 2024 WAMMIES (Washington, D.C.’s version of the Grammy’s for Best Hard Rock / Metal Single (All MY Life), Best Hard Rock / Metal Band, and Best Hard Rock / Metal Album) has been writing and releasing thought-provoking material based on socio-political themes over the last few years. Their upcoming re-release of “Turbulent”, April 19th, is a look back at turbulent times in vocalist Sujit Kumar’s life. This album has deeply emotionally charged lyrics, grungy riffs, and hard-hitting drums that provide a punchy, catchy, hard rock fun time. Their latest lyric video for “One Of These Days” gives a taste of what’s to come. The band comments:

“The album is a deep reflection of the turbulent times of our vocalist’s life. From the reactions that we have seen out of playing these songs live, they’ve ranged from completely rocking out to people being in tears after. Sometimes a song completely changes direction from the original idea that it was built upon, we listen to the jam, and if it seems like it’s connecting, Sujit usually ends up putting lyrics on it, and we collectively put the finishing touches on it.”

Never Elected was formed by Sujit Kumar and Altan Aydin with a common love for all things grunge and rock ‘n roll. Dr. T brings the low end with melodic bass riffs and rounds off the sound with Wesley Meyer being a driving force seated behind the drums. The band has played numerous shows over the years, engaging audiences wherever they go with plans to tour this year promoting the album re-release.

“One Of These Days” is an honest outburst of passion and emotion. This rock-solid banger is recommended for fans of Alice In Chains, Guns N Roses, and Soundgarden.

Watch and listen to “One Of These Days” via its lyric video premiere on Ghost Cult Magazine HERE.

“Turbulent” is due out on April 19th, 2024, and is available for pre-order at https://neverelected.bandcamp.com, Spotify

“Washington D.C.’s Never Elected are bringing back some of the best elements of the ’90s, including the long hair. Fusing the socio-political consciousness of Rage Against the Machine, Living Colour’s furious bass-riffs, and the Foo Fighters’ driving guitars, the band is an in-your-face grunge-revival explosion.” – New Noise Magazine

“It’s really about time that you “Wake Up” and start paying attention to the world around you, including the hard rockers known as Never Elected. The band has just released a visually-stimulating music video to accompany their recent single, a revved-up, riff-driven sonic assault that has been the band’s most successful track since its November 2019 release. “Wake Up” is a preview of what’s to come on the group’s next record which they have been hard at work on this year and are on the verge of completing. If it wasn’t already evident by its title and socio-politically themed lyrics, the hard-hitting music video for “Wake Up” illustrates the fact that the band is out to convey a serious message.” – V13

“After releasing the thought-provoking and socio-politically themed video for their song “Wake Up” last year, Washington, DC’s Never Elected is back with a new video for their song “Where You Belong”. The video touches on yet another serious topic. This time dealing with the struggles of mental health, a topic that is taboo to discuss openly in many cultures.” – All About The Rock

Emerging from the cauldron of the Carolinas, USA — Voraath is an otherworldly, extreme metal act that weaves together the twisted worlds of science fiction, horror, and death metal. Their complex riffs, entrancing solos, and captivating vocals tell dark, dread-filled stories, drawing their audiences into their terrifying vision.

This year they will introduce their world and the lore within through their debut album “Vol 1: The Hymn of the Hunters” on June 17th, 2024, on Exitus Stratagem Records. The band shares their excitement as they release the album art, track list, and a promo video available now on YouTube:

“This album is a dark whirlwind of emotions and an auditory odyssey. We pulled from real events in our lives, interspersing them throughout our complex musical universe. We want to immerse the listener in another world. Our brutal themes may shock you, but our goal is to compel you to join in our quest — a quest with an explosive metal score!”

Voraath began as an idea to merge extreme metal with storytelling, to create a world full of strong characters and raw emotion. The band has created a complex mythos for audiences to explore while they listen. They have created a metal multiverse where they are the characters in this lore of their own making, god-hunters on a dystopian planet.

Within “Vol 1: The Hymn of the Hunters” lies a complex story that begins simply but deepens and sucks in listeners, daring them to continue.

Clad in tactical dystopian armor and alien insect helmets with red glowing eyes, Voraath lives and plays in this nether world. Sci-fi, horror, and metal fans will sink their teeth into Voraath, especially those who enjoy Fleshgod Apocalypse, Cattle Decapitation, and Dimmu Borgir.

“Crushing Sci-Fi Death Metal” – Metal Injection

“they are a band who’ve combined their musical and visual sides into a silver screen-worthy, sci-fi based, death metal odyssey centered around alien contact, the devastation and degradation of the environment and humanity, rule by corporate overlords and henchmen, Primitivism vs. Futurism and, of course, lots of blood, guts and killing.”- Decibel Mag

Montreal, QC – March 27, 2024

Time To Dive Into “Raging Waters” w/ Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON’s New Music Video Off Album “Iron & Oak” Out Now!

Australian rock sensation Greystone Canyon released their second album “Iron & Oak” this pat March 8th on Rockshots Records. The highly anticipated full-length is the follow-up to their successful 2018 debut “While the Wheels Still Turn”. Known for their unique blend of tone, feel, and honest rock, “Iron & Oak” promises an even more captivating musical journey.

For those who haven’t had a chance to check out the sophomore offering, the band is sharing their latest music video for the track “Raging Waters”, a song that shows a different side of the band. They explain further:

“It’s kind of a Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Aerosmith track… starting with some slide and 12-string guitar and has a real classic rock feel. The song is about sitting up late at night and having conversations with those who have passed on. A kind of spiritual seance that connects us with those beyond this mortal coil. We have some guests on this track and sing some backing vocals, piano, violin, and viola.”

Watch and listen to the video for “Raging Waters” at https://youtu.be/HIIaM17s9SE

Since their formation in 2015-2016, Greystone Canyon has been committed to delivering a sound that is true to their passion for music. Their sophomore album, a stylistic extension of their debut, aims to capture the essence of who they are as individuals and musicians. The band hopes that fans will embrace the new offering and connect with the music on a deeper level.

Stylistically diverse, “Iron & Oak” features a range of songs, from immediate and catchy tunes to dramatic and epic compositions. The band has incorporated additional instruments, such as 12-string guitar, Hammond organ, strings, and piano, to enhance the listening experience. With a deliberate effort to provide a longer and more immersive album, Greystone Canyon moves away from instrumentals and interludes, presenting back-to-back songs.

The lyrics draw inspiration from various sources, including personal experiences, historical facts, and a shared love for the Wild West. Songs explore themes of reflection on youth, facing adversity, and choosing one’s life path. Greystone Canyon draws from life’s intricacies, weaving them into a tapestry of music that resonates with listeners.

Reflecting on the evolution of the band’s sound, Greystone Canyon consciously expanded their musical palette, the album aims to encapsulate everything the band loves about music while staying true to their passion.

With “Iron & Oak”, Greystone Canyon invites listeners to join them on a musical exploration that spans the spectrum of their influences. The band hopes that the album will connect with audiences on a profound level, offering a timeless experience that stands the test of time.

Greystone Canyon entrusted the mixing duties to Grammy-nominated producer Glen Robinson (Queensryche / Voivod), ensuring a masterful blend that accentuates the album’s power while remaining authentic and dynamic.

Canada’s Supermodel Taxidermy is a dynamic force in the thrash metal and hardcore punk scene, delivering a unique blend of intense guitar hooks, heavy drums, and catchy bass lines. Formed after the success of the solo project EP “A Whorer Story”, the band continues to push boundaries, addressing societal horrors through their music while injecting elements of fun and pop culture. Prior to the release of the album “At What Cost” on May 31, 2024, they are releasing the cover art and track listing along with their lead single / music video “Lipstick”. They comment on the album artwork:

“The artworks concept is about demons entering and exiting the passageway to hell; as they get closer to the entrance their horns grow predominantly. The demons leaving seem to make their horns disappear as they get closer to society. The very front of the painting has a war between two demonic entities who are pulling a human in opposite directions. This signifies what it takes to keep your composure intact and stay true to who you are in a ruthless society. This is why we titled it “At What Cost”.”

A collaborative effort, the majority of this album looks at death lyrically. A lot of the writings question the cause and effect of vices and the wrong choices that can be made throughout our lives. Musically this album is fast and heavy as hell. Supermodel Taxidermy wanted to have it throwing left hooks repeatedly, there are not many moments on this record when it gives you a break.

Shawn Maynard, lead guitarist and vocals also comments, “Our pyramid crumbles without one member supporting the other. We are constantly writing, and this album is just the beginning. Expect more to come; we already have a few in the bank!”. The album is recommended for fans of Suicidal Tendencies, Iron Reagan, and Dayglo Abortions.

“At What Cost” is due out on May 31, 2024, and available for pre-order / pre-save at the following links:

“‘A Whorer Story’ sounds like a crossover album, fans of the genre are bound to get on board with it and whilst there isn’t anything really new, it does set the stage for the remainder of their career.” – Metal Digest (2022)

“Supermodel Taxidermy takes skate punk, hardcore, and thrash to the next level with loud riffs, catchy lyrics, and infectious energy. They released the EP A Whorer Story in January, but they’ve returned with a new, standalone single. The latest track, “Blood Painted Dash,” is ready to make your ears pop!” – Canadian Beats (2022)

What the press is saying:

“Located an hour and a half east of Calgary is the town of Drumheller, Alberta. With a population in the neighborhood of 8000 and existing smack dab in the middle of Canada’s desert and dinosaur country, it’s not a place one would immediately associate with any sort of metal scene, let alone a big-ass outdoor metal fest. But that’s where you’d be wrong. Going into its 11th year, the Loud as Hell Festival is set to roll on August 4-6th with the likes of Narcotic Wasteland, Jungle Rot and Incite headlining three days of metallic fun featuring 40 or so bands, including The Convalesence, Gorgatron, Necronomicon, Untimely Demise, Eyes of Perdition and more.” – Decibel Magazine

“Western Canada’s loudest heavy metal festival brings fans to town more known for dinos than drum solos.” – CBC Calgary

“What’s more metal than the badlands? Drumheller, AB, is known for being the dinosaur capital of the world — but it’s also the home of the Loud as Hell festival, an event celebrating none other than the loudest music known to man (and, by proxy, prehistoric reptile).” – Exclaim!

“Loud as Hell – one of Canada’s top underground metal festivals – was a metal family reunion. If you walked around the grounds, where tents covered the landscape like flowers, you would experience concert goers laughing, hugging and just enjoying the moment. The music played non-stop and the people were some of the best you’ll meet. What else do you need? If you’re a metalhead fan, mark it down for next year because this is a concert you don’t want to miss.” – Blackfalds Life

“Headbanger alert: Loud As Hell festival to ramp up the volume” – Calgary Herald

“Nevermind the bug spray and sun tan lotion, as August approaches Drumheller residents should stock up on earplugs.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud As Hell returns to the southern Alberta city for its seventh year and as its name implies, will rock the city to its core.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud as Hell has celebrated eight years in the Badlands to date, with acts from all over the world-shattering the peace and quiet of the hills in a camping and music extravaganza.” – Hanna Herald

“Drumheller with its dinosaur bones is the site of the annual Loud as Hell heavy metal festival Friday through Sunday. Dozens of the heaviest bands known to Man will be taking the stage, many of them Canadian” – Gig City

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 25, 2024

Canada’s Lÿnx Release Blood Thirsty Title Track “Claws Out” Off Upcoming Album Out May 2024

Lÿnx, Calgary, Canada’s eclectic and unyielding hard rock/hair metal outfit, is more than just a band; they are a collective of dreamers who found solace and purpose through the power of music. Formed during the pandemic, each member brought with them a shared dream and a burning desire to break free from the chains of mundane existence. Their third album, “Claws Out” is set for release on May 2024, and it’s chock full of rock n’ roll anthems that will get you moving. The next single is the title track which the band details:

“Title Track!!! With this one, we wanted to hit hard and fast. So one thing led to another and well…Werewolf! In honesty, we wanted this one to have a different theme than other songs and it went through about 3 different versions before we decided to get Ja6ur to write some bloodthirsty werewolf shit and it just worked out.”

“Long Live Rock N’ Roll, Enough Said” declares Lÿnx, encapsulating their philosophy of life and music. The album promises to deliver a complete rock experience, catering to the diverse tastes of their fans. From heart-pounding anthemic lyrics to whirlwind solos, backed up by steady thunder, Lÿnx invites listeners to immerse themselves in a symphony that resonates with the highs and lows of the human experience. With each track, the band paints a vivid picture of their shared struggles, dreams, and the relentless pursuit of the ultimate rock n roll fantasy.

“Claws Out” is straight, heavy rock’n’roll, you could pull it right off the shelf of any record store on the Sunset Strip in the late 1980s, of course with modern-day producing and mastering. It is recommended for fans of Guns N Roses, Skid Row, and Mr. Big.

“Lÿnx is an honest to goodness rock n roll band in a time when rock needs just that. They offer up blistering guitar riffs and solos, melodic choruses, and high energy performances that resemble the spirit of a time long gone by.” Hitonindie.com

“A brilliant release that perfectly builds on the stage that their self titled EP set. ‘Long Live Rock N Roll’ is a direct unyielding ode to what rock music used to be. A release that’s not for the faint of heart, its bold, brash and wonderfully Brutal. Landing as one of Lÿnx’s defining musical moments” Thomas Bedward – Broken 8 Records

“ Opening tracks can tell you a lot about an album. Sometimes bands come out swinging, and others take a slow burn approach. Theres no slow burn in Lÿnx. And the title track ‘Long Live Rock N Roll’ roars out of your speakers. It features a great guitar solo, fantastic percussion, and drips with 80s glam.” Dave Wilks – CGCM Radio/ Podcast

“This is a really solid, fun band that were excited about, and can’t wait to hear what’s next. So, Crank it up and press play!”- MusicNotez Magazine

Heavy/power metal band Eregion is set to captivate fans again with the release of their new single, “Earendil Star”. This highly-anticipated track offers a powerful blend of distinctive power metal tones, coupled with the band’s signature epic flair, promising a gripping musical journey.

As a precursor to their upcoming album“Non Omnis Moriar” slated for release on May 24th, “Earendil Star” is a rather fast song that talks about Earendil navigating space after his ship gained the power to fly. The sound of this song is epic, melodic, powerful, direct, and battle-starved where lyrics are inspired by history (especially the one of the Vikings) and by fantasy (nonetheless by the writings of Tolkien). For fans of Ensiferum, Blind Guardian, Judas Priest, Crimson Glory, and Manowar.

As a prelude to the spring album launch, Eregion introduces a refreshed lineup, welcoming Dario Fontana as the lead vocalist and Davide “Gengis” Gianforte as the bassist, injecting renewed energy into the band’s sonic landscape.

0 Yellowknife’s GNARWHAL Unveils New Single “Tides” from Upcoming EP “Altered States” Ahead Of The Electric Highway Festival Appearance In Calgary

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 22, 2024

Yellowknife’s GNARWHAL Unveils New Single “Tides” from Upcoming EP “Altered States” Ahead Of The Electric Highway Festival Appearance In Calgary

Gnarwhal, the genre-bending four-piece rock band hailing from the remote northern Canadian city of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, is thrilled to announce the release of their latest single “Tides” from their upcoming EP “Altered States”, which is slated for release this coming May 2024. The dynamic track offers a mesmerizing blend of heavy alternative fuzz rock with progressive metal intricacies and doom-tinged grooves, showcasing the band’s evolution and musical prowess. Gnarwhal is also sharing this single in the lead-up to their performance at the quintessential stoner/doom/rock festival The Electric Highway in Calgary, Alberta from April 4th to 6th. The band shares their thoughts on the upcoming single:

“Tides is a song we originally wrote in early 2023. It’s a bit of a departure from some of our other standard rock songs, but definitely hits a little heavier too. Lyrically, Benji was just spitting out doomy ideas on paper which ended up synthesizing into a concept that fit really well with the other tracks on the EP. It sort of tells a tale of despair and dread about decisions made and your place in the world. There’s a bit of an apocalyptic feel to it.”

Listen to “Tides” via its premiere on DoomedandStoned HERE.

Gnarwhal‘s innovative sound seamlessly blends elements of classic and contemporary fuzz and heavy rock into “Altered States”, which promises to deliver a dark and immersive musical journey that resonates with listeners on a profound level.

In addition to their eagerly anticipated EP release, Gnarwhal’s appearance at The Electric Highway Festival on Saturday, April 6th supporting headliners further solidifies their status as a burgeoning force within the Canadian rock landscape. The band’s electrifying live performances, coupled with their distinctive blend of genres, continue to captivate audiences and leave an indelible mark on the heavy music scene. Look out for the conch! Gnarwhal is recommended for fans of Mastodon, The Sword, and King Buffalo.

“Altered States” is due out on May 24, 2024, and available for pre-order at https://gnarwhalband.bandcamp.com

Track Listing:
1. Tides (3:37)
2. The War / Nothing More (6:36)
3. From Her Hands (3:46)
4. Altered States (3:19)

“Gnarwhal moves along at its own Fuzzed Out Stoner pace with its style of Hard Rock and slightly Doom tinged grooves. Taking cues from bands such as Mastodon, The Sword, Elder and King Buffalo, these guys walk a fine line between Classic and Modern day Stoner sensibilities especially with the Proggy Spaced out vibes. There’s a HEAVY METAL beast waiting to escape from the cleaner grooves that Gnarwhal plays and when it does escape from its cage, Gnarwhal becomes a more exciting creative unit.” – Outlaws of the Sun

““Tides,” a brutal, stormy track that meshes fuzzy, downtuned vibes with unrelenting proggy rhythms. Forlorn vocals that seem to prophesy the inevitable collapse of civilization, as illustrated by the single art.” – Doomed And Stoned
