Every day is a new day! And STRIKER has a new music video “Live To Fight Another Day” to announce their upcoming USA and Canada tour dates with Floridian power metallers SEVEN KINGDOMS, Hamilton, ON’s melodic metallers LUTHARO and Calgary, AB’s thunderous progressive symphonic metallers OSYRON whom will support select dates.

Striker will kick off preliminary dates with a performance at ProgPower USA in Atlanta, GA on September 4th followed by Canadian shows with Lutharo in September, and then push things into full gear in November to start the “Shredding North America Tour” in Corpus Christi, TX on November 9th and wrap up the month-long tour in Orlando, FL on December 8th (dates listed below).

“Live To Fight Another Day” is off the shred master’s new album “ULTRAPOWER” produced with Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Tallah, King 810) released this past February. The band explains the track:

“Originally this was just a regular Striker song. Tim had the idea that we should just try turning it into a synth-wave track. It fits like a glove. We’ve always been into Synthwave but never had the guts to do it ourselves. Until now! This is our first attempt at it and we are stoked about how it turned out. This one is another track about keeping it together and taking on life one day at a time.”

Watch the video for “Live To Fight Another Day” at https://youtu.be/BR2zXgqwpWw

“ULTRAPOWER” is the seventh full-length from Striker and follows their Juno Award-winning self-released record “Play to Win” (2018) unleashed on their label Record Breaking Records.

With the band writing material since 2018, “ULTRAPOWER” is a collection of Striker tinkering and exploring new avenues. From the album’s opening track “Circle of Evil”, a Malmsteen-esque metal banger about secret societies and the evil dealings behind closed doors to their previously released single “BEST of the BEST of the BEST” serving up some big riffs and hockey arena vocals to “Blood Magic”, which might be one of Striker‘s most progressive songs, taking cues from bands like King Diamond, with its unconventional structure and punctuated guitar solos. From the band delving into their obsession for late 80s AOR and pop rock with “City Calling”, an ode to 1987, and bands like Toto and Kenny Loggins with their hook-powered albums. To fans experiencing the band’s first attempt at a synth-wave track with “Live To Fight Another Day”, this new offering sees Striker making a shredding love letter to the hard-rocking era of guilty pleasures.

The band comments on the album:

“Starting with the album cover, we wanted the artwork to represent how we feel as a band right now. We are an engine that is fired up and ready to roll. We’re made of metal and our circuits gleam! The album itself is an amalgamation of 5 years of writing and exploring music. With influences from AOR to Speed Metal, Hardcore to Hair Metal, Steely Dan to Deathcore, you name it, it made its way into the album. In the end with the help of Josh Schroeder’s guiding hand, we melted it all together to present something uniquely Striker. Lyrically we’ve stuck to the Striker tradition of writing montage songs for movies that don’t exist, songs about our spiraling serfdom, and lyrics about the evils that lurk in the shadows.”

“If you liked the last three albums (as much as I did), Ultrapower will equally satisfy. I know this one will be in my top 10 albums of the year. 8.5/10″ – Bravewords

“All in all, Striker’s Ultrapower may be their finest album to date. Their traditional, “keep it true,” heavy metal has never been more fresh, creative, and versatile, and so also, breathing new life into this classic genre. Easily recommended. 5/5″ – Dangerdog Music Reviews

““Ultrapower” is quite frankly a magnificent album. It has a feel good 80’s movie soundtrack aura about it with the spirit of artists such as John Farnham and Stan Bush standing tall alongside pure 80’s metal throwback. If you love 80’s rock and metal then this album is going to have you grinning from ear to ear. I think I’m gonna be grinning for days after several listens. Some fans of Striker’s more speed metal inclined sound may find this album a bit jarring but I can safely say it is the best album they have done and they have released some corkers. For the pure joy it has given me, this album is going to be hard to top in 2024 and we are still in the early part of the year.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Striker are more-than-ready to show us all the power of heavy music with Ultrapower, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the ride with one of the best (of the best of the best) bands of the current Canadian landscape.” The Headbanging Moose

“an album that is bold, daring and as mentioned shows a band that are not afraid of fusing styles of music together… there are simply to many high quality songs on this album that simply blows me away. This is a polished, highly refined album with top quality production! 9/10” – The NWOTHM

“I really like the diversity in this album. 4/5” – KNAC

“I’m giving this one an 8 of 10 “Flaming Fists”. You can tell there’s a lot of work put into the album, they don’t half-ass anything. The production was good, it’s really hard to make amazing Arena-style rock without a decent budget, but they did a solid job…. if you liked the late 80’s and early 90’s bands you’ll really dig this. Overall, I’m really happy and thankful for this band continuing to do what they do.” – Rock Rage Radio

“The heavy, power, and traditional melodic metal landscape is in great shape thanks to bands like Striker producing high quality songwriting year after year. These Canadians continue to explore horizons while still maintaining the endearing qualities that helped put them on the map in the first place since the late 2000’s. Ultrapower is the seventh full-length studio record, and probably their most varied attack to date – incorporating everything from speed/thrash to AOR and old Wild West vibes. ” – Dead Rhetoric

“Striker’s execution and sense of humor makes for an enjoyable ride.” – Heavy Music HQ

“How do you say when bowling when you clear all the pins with a throw? It is a strike! STRIKER has achieved a great strike with their album „ Ultrapower “. All songs on this album are real hits! Each song has its own character and rocks what it takes. It is a wonderful homage to the 80 ’ years. I would say: The STRIKER engine is in full swing!” – Metal-Heads.de

Forsaken Rite, the symphonic folk metal warriors from the northern plains of Edmonton, Canada, are thrilled to announce the release of their latest music video “Call to War” This powerful and visually stunning video is the second single from their upcoming EP “The Forgotten West”, out this coming September 2024. “Call to War” showcases Forsaken Rite’s signature blend of epic storytelling, intricate musicianship, and high-energy performance, as they explain:

“‘Call to War’ is the finale of The Forgotten West journey. The war party has made it to their destination… for now. They have found villages and life isn’t so bad, it’s different than before, but yet… oh so familiar. But as if destiny had other plans, peace lasts only so long before history begins to repeat itself as new enemy forces move in to take what little the village has left. Call to War is a battle speech and a rallying cry, because this time, we all stay to fight, unlike so long ago, before the journey of The Forgotten West.”

The drums of war are sounding and Forsaken Rite’s final rally cry leads warriors into battle. “Call to War” is a heavy war song led by the power of unclean vocals as clean vocals build the narrative. The song’s bridge is a grand battle speech and a march towards victory climaxing in a multi-layered instrumental and vocal breakdown to round out the EP.

Forged in the cold northern plains of Edmonton, AB, Forsaken Rite has been crafting tales of ancient lore and heroic feats since their formation in 2012. Drawing inspiration from their northern ancestry and the wild landscapes of Canada, the band has built a reputation for delivering electrifying live performances and transporting their audience into fantastical realms. They are recommended for fans of Eluveitie, Nightwish, and Faun.

““The Northern Saga” is definitely worth checking out as it has some solid songs, strong performances and catchy tracks. Another epic album from north of the border.” – Folk-Metal.nl (2017)

“…The conquest based on riffs warriors and vindictive is launched, no prisoners and drink in the skull of our enemies tonight! But FORSAKEN RITE is not just a fight, it’s also a real passion for Scandinavian shamanic atmospheres that are inserted in small touches along the tracks…” (Translated from French) – kaosguards.com (2017)

Calgary Post-Metal ATOMIS ATOMIS Showcases Their Progressive Rock Side w/ Video “Maelstrom”

Out Aug 30th – “The Void Box Set” In Memory of Passing Drummer

Top Left: Taylor Johnson (Guitar), Top Right: Nathan Navetto Drums, Bottom Left: Matthew McLaughlin (Guitar/Vox/Keys), Bottom Right: Bryan Buss (Bass)

Atomis, the avant-garde rock band known for their deeply immersive soundscapes is excited to announce the release of a comprehensive “The Void Box Set”, a tribute to our late drummer Nathan Navetto, which contains all the music they’ve ever written. They are ushering in this release by dropping a music video for the single “Maelstrom”, from the self-titled album, which they comment on:

“Recorded 10 years earlier, it makes sense to finish off the album with something familiar, taking the listener back to the beginning, creating a nice loop, and ending the album with a bang. This 9+ minute track has been called an album on its own and was previously the band’s only musical release for the last 14 years. It finally has an album to properly close out, as it was always intended.”

The upcoming “The Void Box Set” is a monumental release, featuring three CDs that showcase the evolution of Atomis‘ sound. From the polished debut album, which includes previously unheard tracks, to the experimental “Welcome to the Void” album—Nathan’s version that includes remixes and ambient compositions—the collection offers a deep dive into the band’s creative process.

Formed by Nathan Navetto and Taylor Brooks from Somastate, alongside Matt Langley of Pure City, Atomis set out to create music with “no holds barred”. Drawing inspiration from cinema, poetry, and nature, the band aimed to craft an enveloping experience that went beyond just sound. Their performances became legendary for their custom light shows, specially edited film backdrops, and exclusive screen-printed posters.

Recommended for fans of Neurosis, The Ocean, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Atomis’ introspective and ambitious music is sure to please fans of progressive music.

What the press has said about them:

“The songs are epic and can almost be described as soundscapes, as they incorporate everything from crushing metal riffs to peaceful ambient noise.” – Matt Petti, Beatroute Magazine

“Before the first viewing of the video, Canadian director and film-maker Doug Cook gave an introductory speech about the making of the video and working with Atomis. They created a video that perfectly complimented the band’s music and fans asked to watch it a second time (and then even a third time before the venue closed). Cook has been working with many Calgary metal bands lately, such as Divinity, Orphan Hammer and the Unravelling. He has also worked on some videos that may be a little more well known around the globe including “Breaking the Broken” by Control Denied, “Prolong the Agony” by Morta Skuld and the upcoming video for Death’s “Pull the Plug”.” – Evilg – Metal Sucks

0 Fort McMurray’s SUPERMODEL TAXIDERMY Announces Lineup For Their Open Air Fest “Party In The Park 2” – Sept 14th

Montreal, QC – August 19, 2024

Fort McMurray’s SUPERMODEL TAXIDERMY Announces Lineup For Their Open Air Fest “Party In The Park 2”

Sept 14th – Bob Lamb Bandstand at Borealis Park in Downtown Fort McMurray

+ New Album “At What Cost” Out Now!

Having steamrolled across Western Canada this summer with tour dates in support of their new album “At What Cost” released this past May on Punishment 18 Records, Fort McMurray, AB’s Supermodel Taxidermy announces a hometown show and their open-air festival “Party In The Park 2”.

Hosted on September 14th at the Bob Lamb Bandstand at Borealis Park in downtown Fort McMurray, the 2nd edition of the music event is organized by the band to give back to their hometown community and is 100% free to attend.

Festival organizer and Supermodel Taxidermy‘s Shawn Maynard explains how Party In The Park was conceived.

“It’s time to start introducing what this festival is and how it came about… My name is Shawn, and I am the festival coordinator/promoter. Last year, my band (Supermodel Taxidermy) decided to put on a free outdoor show for the city of Fort McMurray; with the help of a few of our friends (those thanks are coming), we recruited four local bands and teamed up with a food truck. As it turns out the show was a success; it inspired our band to keep the earnings we made throughout this last year and try it again just on a much bigger scale. But let’s rewind a bit; as a youth in Fort McMurray, I remember how much it meant to me when bands in the punk and metal genres would come up here and play for us. Back then, we were starving for a music scene, and not much was happening. Groups like The Smalls from Edmonton would come up to play and we would go absolutely ballistic because we had a way to let out steam in the mosh pit on a Friday night. I’m now 42, and I still remember the effect it had on me; it’s one of the reasons I got into playing in bands myself. It’s also the reason I like to perform in smaller towns.

So now that the ball is in our court, we are paying it forward to the youth in our remote city. This year, with the help of an exuberant number of locals I grew up with, my idea has blossomed into a reality. I’ve reached out to business owners and company executives that I went to school with, all of whom are part of this amazing event. As I said earlier, the thanks are coming, but for now, it’s about sharing what Party in the Park 2 is about. So bring a lawn chair or a blanket on September 14th and come sit on the hill and enjoy a day of heavy and fast music. This year, we have ten bands from across the province, two styles of food trucks, and there may even be a spot for a beverage if you are 18+, that is. No promises but more details are coming. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you on the 14th, Shawn!

This year’s “Party In The Park 2” lineup features bands from across Alberta with Edmonton’s Forsaken Rite, Kilusan, The Judge The Juror, and Knife Fight In The O.R., Sylvan Lake’s Chuck Spadina, and local support from Fort McMurray’s 3 Fat Daddies, Static Horizon, Bizza in a Box and The Big Dirty.

With their new album “At What Cost”, Supermodel Taxidermy delivers an electrifying blend of intense riffs, powerful vocals, and unbridled energy that will leave listeners craving for more.

“If you haven’t checked out the album yet, we think it is going to exceed the expectations of our early listeners while also adding dynamics with new elements that we decided to enforce all over the record. Things such as Cheney’s crushing vocals. We do a lot of back-and-forth vocals on this record. This record was made to catch your ears with its intense guitar hooks, heavy drums, and catchy bass lines all while keeping your attention to the lyrical topics at hand.” adds the band.

Lyrically, the majority of this album looks at death; a lot of the writings question the cause and effect of vices and the wrong choices that can be made throughout our lives. Musically, this album is fast and heavy as hell. Supermodel Taxidermy wanted to have it throwing left hooks repeatedly, there are not many moments on this record when it gives you a break.

The band was formed after an overwhelming response to the EP “A Whorer Story”, which was intended to be a one-off solo record, and since then they have been staking a claim for themselves in the local scene. The album, ten tracks coming in at just under half an hour, was produced by Rob Lawless and mixed/mastered by Terry Paholek, showcasing the band’s commitment to delivering an exciting listening experience. This thrash metal and hardcore punk collision is recommended for fans of Iron Reagan, Dayglo Abortions, and Slayer.

“it’s fun and catchy, it’s crazy fast and just makes you want to throw yourself into walls.” – The Metal Crypt

“At What Cost is one richly impressive and increasingly addictive release. It looks like SUPERMODEL TAXIDERMY is coming for the world and the cost? Sheer pleasure!” – The Ringmaster Review

“blends skate punk with elements of thrash into a lethal concoction that slaps you in the face as it runs by. The atmosphere they create is explosive; a mix of punk rock energy with thrash level instrumentals. Their sound is reminiscent of Bad Brains or Minor Threat, but with a harsher bite. The amount of authentic punk energy Supermodel Taxidermy crammed into this record is almost unbelievable, and when combined with the instrumental elements of thrash, its tone is almost deadly. Energetic and emphatic, the band’s raw mix of chaotic energies serves them well on this record. There is no real lull in energy at any point within this record, proving that if Supermodel Taxidermy can do anything, it’s bring in the heat.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“Punk rock and thrash when combined can elevate the energy to that youthful exuberance that is hard to resist. Supermodel Taxidermy lean into their love of those styles on At What Cost, creating an enthusiastic platter that channels its messages in short, solid songs that will get the hordes moving. Could be the best skater soundtrack to bust out those rad, death defying moves for 2024.” – DeadRhetoric

Saskatoon, Canada’s Pythonic continues their metal assault with the release of their second single “Pills” from their upcoming EP “EP 1”, due out on September 27, 2024. The single is the oldest song on the EP being the second song ever written by the band. It came out super quickly like the previously released “Love H8” and has a large emphasis on speed. The song tempo jumps up and down sporadically as does someone’s mood on opioids. The band comments further:

“The single Pills is another fan favorite song not as harped about as Epica is but still held in very high regard. This song didn’t have a real solo for most of its life but when it came to recording the leads Ryan said he had a solo to throw in it so Vince had not heard the solo at all up until this point hit record on the track and watched Ryan lay down one the tastiest solos for the recording.”

The simplicity of the riffs in the song is what helps drive this song to listeners. It has a very catchy chorus backed with some catchy lyrics to draw the listener in. In the end, it has an unhinged-sounding solo which is a perfect close to the song almost as if the junkie is frantically looking for their next fix.

“Pills” delves deep into the struggles of addiction and the societal pressures that come with it. Dustin Reiner’s searing vocals deliver a poignant narrative, perfectly complemented by the crushing riffs of lead guitarist Ryan Hunter and the unyielding rhythm guitar of Vincent Kohut. The Warriner brothers, Jayden on drums and Morgan on bass provide a relentless backbone that drives the song’s intense momentum. It is recommended for fans of Devildriver, Machine Head, and Trivium.

Montreal, QC – August 16, 2024

Canadian Thrashers TRISKELYON To Unleash Third Album “Shattered Elysium” Sept 2024; Streaming Single “Anarchy Avenue”

Out Sept 27th via Moribund Records

Canadian thrash metal Gods Triskelyon have returned, delivering stainless steel fury on their highly anticipated third album, “Shattered Elysium” this coming September 27th from Moribund Records.

Founded in 2021 by guitarist Geoff Waye of the acclaimed true metal band Category VI, Triskelyon burst onto the scene with a self-titled EP, quickly securing a deal with Moribund Records for their radio chart-topping debut album “Downfall” (2022). In the following year, they demolished expectations with their masterful sophomore release, “Artificial Insanity,” which earned rave reviews and dominated the radio charts for six weeks!

Triskelyon is again back to enthralling the metal world with “Shattered Elysium”. With their lethal third strike, Triskelyon’s band leader Geoff Waye once again drafted some of the finest emissaries of the Canadian metal scene. Enlisting the vocal talents of guests Amanda Kiernan (Into Eternity, The Order of Chaos), Eric Forrest (E-Force, ex-VoiVod), Tiina Teal (Détente), Amanda Jackman (Category VI), Armin Kamal (Infrared), Dale Drew (Sea Dogs), Fíochmhar (Artach), Des Mason and Pete Healey, this album detonates as a pure and true thrash metal masterpiece. The record features a unique style along with refreshing variations of thrashing classics! Traditional, yet intricate, drum duties are exceptionally executed by Raul Marques (Burning Torment), while Dwayne Pike, Keith Jackman (Category VI), Rick White, and Darrin Pope are conscripted on bass.

“Shattered Elysium” runs the gamut from pure 80’s thrash and speed metal to classic power metal, and traditional heavy metal, and even includes some brutal death-thrash. It attains an impressive new milestone in classic thrash metal, with far-reaching appeal across all heavy metal sub-genres. “Shattered Elysium” truly resurrects the glory days of the 1980s, while maintaining a fresh and modern sound!

In keeping with Triskelyon‘s tradition of closing their albums with an iconic cover, this release delivers a thunderous metal rendition of Duran Duran’s mega-hit “Hungry Like the Wolf.”

Today the band gives incite to the record with the first single “Anarchy Avenue”, which can be heard at the links below.

Geoff Waye adds about the track:

“For ‘Anarchy Avenue,’ I was thinking more about issues like urban decay, homelessness, corruption, the rich-poor divide, and how these factors contribute to the destruction and deterioration of some parts of cities. Problems like increased violence, crime, drug use, etc., all become more prevalent in such environments, as you can see in most cities. The vocals on this track are by returning guest Armin Kamal from the band Infrared. As always, he delivers a stellar performance with some guttural parts and plenty of soaring melodic thrash—how can you not love it?”

“It’s refreshing, for once, to discover a thrash band that aren’t geared towards utter devastation but, rather, crafting a record that an audience can simply put on and vibe to. With more than forty-five minutes to work with, the band still stuck to their guns and applied songwriting that saw every minute feel earned and needed for what their performance entailed.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Waye has shown he can write in any metal style and the guys he got together to perform are world class. The production is pretty big too so, if you like Megadeth, Agent Steel, Exodus, Overkill, etc. then there will be something on here that you like. Me? I liked it all! Hopefully, Canadian metal will be taken a bit more seriously with this release.” – My Global Mind

“classical Thrash Metal tracks and many 80s vibes.” – Metal-Temple

“Heavy, pounding, in-your-face, power metal-laced thrash” – Metal Crypt

“A who’s who of musicians in the Canadian Thrash scene! Riffs and soloing are nothing short of fantastic!” – MetalNoise

“Powerful at the right point but also epic, with sharp and anthemic vocal parts” MetalHead.it

“Power-Thrash equipped with murderous riffs on a technically first-class level with changeable exciting vocal variability.” – FFM-Rock

“Minimal filler and maximum melody!” – Heavy Music HQ

Gigantum, a fresh rock band from Los Angeles, USA is ready to show the scene their unique flavor as they release their debut self-titled album on September 6, 2024. They are now proudly presenting their third single “For All My Friends”, which is another showcase of the band’s ability to blend personal stories with innovative music. Bassist and primary lyricist, Mia X reflects on the song’s creation:

“I love to write. I like hearing what everyone is thinking or feeling and then coming up with a story for it. I need to hear the music and feel it to know what I’m going to say. The instruments always tell a story. Is more poppy with a bit of anger behind it. It jams out all the emotion. It’s about losing friends either purposely or through misunderstanding or death and the complicated feelings that go along with that.”

The band further explains that each of them brings ideas from different musical backgrounds, but with the cohesiveness of having played together previously for a decade. This leads to heartfelt and complex rock n’ roll that is engaging, catchy, and will shake the foundations of all the venues it’s experienced live in.

“For All My Friends” is groovy, foot-tapping fun, and also a “Dear John” letter for anyone that you left or has left you. It is recommended for fans of Iron Blanket, Black Sabbath, and Clutch.

QUIESCENT MANTIS Unleashes Bass Playthrough For Their Furious Track “P.R.E.Y”

New Album “Here Comes the Swarm” Out Now! via Exitus Stratagem Records

Hailing from Tennessee, USA, Quiescent Mantis unleashed primal fury with their debut album “Here Comes The Swarm” produced by Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis, Gone In April) at WaveTransform Recording Studio this past July on Exitus Stratagem Records. The genre-defying release blends elements of hardcore, thrash, death, and metalcore into a whirlwind of relentless aggression.

Today, the band is unveiling their latest playthrough for “P.R.E.Y.” from bassist Jordan McKenzie, which was filmed during the winter months earlier this year in the Smoky Mountains just South of Knoxville. The playthrough takes you on a visual yet technical adventure while the song creates a feeling of being hunted down by what seems to be an unstoppable force!

Watch the playthrough for “P.R.E.Y.” via its premiere on Bass Musician Magazine HERE.

Formed during the tumultuous times of the COVID-19 lockdown, Quiescent Mantis emerged from the fusion of former scientists Chris Trainor, Jordan McKenzie, and Johnny Mejia. Previously employed by the enigmatic Sub-atomic Weight Of Acceleration Research Mechanics (S.W.A.R.M.), the trio embarked on a musical journey after inadvertently opening a doorway to the mantis homeworld during a particle collision experiment, exposing themselves to a mind-altering pheromone. Thus, the Chapter 1 demo was born in 2021.

Inspired by a love for old science fiction movies and thrash metal, Quiescent Mantis presents a unique, aggressive, groovy, heavy, and relentless sound that blends old-school metal techniques with new-school innovations. The band aims to provide listeners with a groundbreaking experience, combining elements of classic and contemporary metal in a manner never before heard. They are recommended for fans of Orbit Culture, Havok, and Power Trip.

“With this album, it truly shows not only how we come together as musicians but as storytellers. This album is all the best elements of thrash metal and science fiction horror movies put into one single package. ‘Here Comes The Swarm’ is the sound we created to release the swarm to the world.”

“Loaded with battle vests, beer, baldness and breakdowns, Quiescent Mantis have delivered a highly entertaining four minutes into the conversation (Primal Aggression Music Video).” – Decibel Magazine

“QUIESCENT MANTIS does a great job, delivers strong performance and is also well positioned in terms of craftsmanship.” – PowerMetal.de”The trio takes thrash metal and punches in hardcore and death metal for a release complete with constant twists.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“An album to seek out if a fun and engaging trip into an extreme metal meets thrash metal type of universe is a prospect that intrigues you.” – The Viking in the Wilderness

“Biting down on a stick the trio then get anvil heavy with groove laden title track “Here Comes The Swarm“, an intense tune with a cool bass solo and the kind of vocal brutality that might make you think this was another band entirely. Dirty, dirge laden riffs dredge the lake in search of corpses and the result is a headbangable mosh pit filler than is absolutely delicious.” – Metal Noise

“Here Comes the Swarm is a testament to Quiescent Mantis’ ability to turn an extraordinary backstory into a powerful metal experience. The album’s intricate blend of aggressive sounds and thematic depth makes it a standout release in the metal genre.” – Amplify The Noise

“‘Primal Form of Aggression’ thrives on an exquisite use of the mid-range power chords in the opening riff. Then, the trio force a hardcore beatdown crunch on the listener like vigilantes cleaning the hoodlums off their streets. Dimebag Darrell’s DNA is all over these chunky guitar constructs. The spaced-out breakdown at the end is a generous gift for a live audience to appreciate.” – Scream Blast Repeat

Los Angeles, USA’s Heinous Exsanguination is back for another round of putrid, brutal devastation with their newest single “Vile Rotting Mess”, which comes out today. This is the second release from their upcoming debut EP “The Stench of Decaying Flesh”, set to release on September 6, 2024, on Gore House Productions. This track is another display of blistering slam featuring the guttural ferocity of Angel Ochoa (Cephalotripsy, Abominable Putridity). The band rips open the track, for a deeper look inside:

“This song starts with a brutal lo-fi Slam riff into a head-spinning intro that will surely make the ancient primate within you want to dance. The song then explores different riffs including hardcore-like riffs fused with the classic Slam we all know and love. Don’t forget blast beats either. If you aren’t exsanguinated by two minutes into the song, you’ll hear slam/brutal death metal legend, Angel Ochoa spit the filthiest vocals known to man over once again, that classic Slam riff.”

Lyrically, “Vile Rotting Mass” depicts the grotesque decay of a once-vibrant entity, exploring hopelessness, death, and decomposition. This track takes the listener deep into a macabre realm of rotting flesh and unrelenting heaviness. Angel Ochoa‘s signature gutturals complement JP’s raw intensity, creating a pure death metal carnage cacophony.

The upcoming EP “The Stench of Decaying Flesh” brings nothing less than a relentless assault on the senses, combining crushing riffs, punishing blast beats, and horrifyingly brutal vocals. It is recommended for fans of PeelingFlesh, NecroticGoreBeast, and Traumatomy.

Montreal, QC – August 13, 2024

Canada’s THE WRING Releases Powerful Proggy New Single “The Sword”

New Album “Nemesis” Out Sept 27th, 2024 via WormHoleDeath Records

The Wring – Album Lineup – L-R – Kyle Brian Abbott – Drums, Don Dewulf – Guitars, Reggie Hache – Bass, Vocals & Keyboards

Sudbury, Canada’s intrepid prog act The Wring is thrilled to announce the release of their latest single “The Sword” from their upcoming album “Nemesis” slated for a September 27, 2024 release on WormHoleDeath Records. This track exemplifies the band’s signature blend of heavy rock with progressive elements, showcasing their ability to craft intricate compositions that resonate with both metalheads and prog enthusiasts alike. “The Sword” is an intense sonic journey that combines relentless guitar riffs with dynamic shifts in tempo, as commented on by guitarist Don Dewulf:

“I’ve had the main riff and structure for a long time, but it never felt right. I tried it with other drummers and bass players and always put it to the side. I came back to it again for Nemesis. With Reggie’s vocals and bass and Kyle’s drumming, suddenly it felt great. Almost Megadeth-y. Super fun to play. I actually used a Dave Mustaine signature King V to play it because I was getting too much spring noise from my Floyd guitars while picking the fast parts. Reggie used a pick (which he rarely does) for an extra attack. The bass lines are killer. Probably the most ‘metal’ song I’ve recorded.”

“The Sword” is more than just a heavy track; it’s a narrative-driven piece that explores themes of conflict and confrontation. Dewulf’s powerful riffs set the stage for a musical battle, while Reggie Hache’s bass and vocal work add depth and intensity to the song’s atmosphere.

This single is a taste of what’s to come on The Wring’s fourth album. The music is juxtaposed, with hard rock and metal mixed with jazz and prog elements.

What the press has said about The Wring:

“Here’s one for prog dorks. This outfit’s third outing (Spectra) features drums by Marco Minnemann so you know the rhythms are mad. The regulars in the band ain’t slouches either though. This is intricate and melodic prog done well.” – Metal Injection (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

“A band composed of top artists from the world prog scene, each of whom brings their own style to the band’s sound. Technique and energy, melodic passages, dynamic and expressive vocals and elaborate instrumental sections characterise the album. A recommended listen for all lovers of Progressive Metal sounds, an album to listen to again and again, always managing to give us positive emotions.” – Progressive Rock Journal (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

“Tired of prog metal bands who fire away odd rhythms, fast solos and complex arrangements? Half of them trying to sound like Dream Theater but all failing completely? Look no further. The Wring from Canada offers great musicians who find their own way through the prog metal jungle. I said great musicians and I really stand for that. Or how about Marco Minneman (drums), Chandler Mogel (vocals), Don Dewulf (guitars), Reggie Hache (bass, keyboards) and Isamu McGregor (keyboards)”… Sometimes they are a bit more commercial, like in the first song ”Stiletto”, reminding me a lot of Threshold. Other songs bring a bombastic wall of sound, with riffs do die for – ”The Wolf” is a great example. The early parts of ”Fallen” has some Rush vibes (of the later and more rock base Rush era) and also softer parts Mogel is a very good vocalist, and he can alter his voice a lot. Something of a voice chameleon!” – Melodic.net (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

“The opening notes of ‘Sins’ remind me of the opening salvo in Judas Priest’s ‘The Ripper’. Some of the riff structures are also reminiscent of Priest and it’s another great track.” – TheProgSpace (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

“The third album Spectra by the Canadian progressive rock project The Wring is downright infectious with its joy of playing and catchy Hard Prog Rock songs. There really is a lot of light and very little shadow here.” – Soundmagnet (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

““Wring² Project Cipher comes with a heavy, classic rock feel, but there’s an epic, questing nature to tunes like Sorceress, Steelier and Dose that pushes The Wring beyond metal norms and into prog territory.” – Prog Magazine (The Wring – Project Cipher 2021)
