“It’s refreshing, for once, to discover a thrash band that aren’t geared towards utter devastation but, rather, crafting a record that an audience can simply put on and vibe to. With more than forty-five minutes to work with, the band still stuck to their guns and applied songwriting that saw every minute feel earned and needed for what their performance entailed.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Waye has shown he can write in any metal style and the guys he got together to perform are world class. The production is pretty big too so, if you like Megadeth, Agent Steel, Exodus, Overkill, etc. then there will be something on here that you like. Me? I liked it all! Hopefully, Canadian metal will be taken a bit more seriously with this release.” – My Global Mind

“classical Thrash Metal tracks and many 80s vibes.” – Metal-Temple

“Heavy, pounding, in-your-face, power metal-laced thrash” – Metal Crypt

“A who’s who of musicians in the Canadian Thrash scene! Riffs and soloing are nothing short of fantastic!” – MetalNoise

“Powerful at the right point but also epic, with sharp and anthemic vocal parts” MetalHead.it

“Power-Thrash equipped with murderous riffs on a technically first-class level with changeable exciting vocal variability.” – FFM-Rock

“Minimal filler and maximum melody!” – Heavy Music HQ

About: After a couple of self-produced works and a first album (“Chaotic Age”) Embryo found its sound and recorded “No God Slave” (2010) with producer Simone Mularoni. The album received very good reviews and led the band to play new gigs in Switzerland, Germany, and Italy and be part of Kung Fu Factory’s Supremacy MMA videogame soundtrack with 2 songs. In 2014 Embryo first recorded a promo at Atomic Stuff Studio with Oscar Burato, then, in May, the band recorded the new self-titled cd at Domination Studio with Simone Mularoni. During the summer they played the main stage at Masters of Rock in the Czech Republic and Total Metal Festival in Italy. In October Embryo signed a deal with logic(il)logic Records for the release of the album and the reissue of “No God Slave” with some bonus tracks. In December the band made a little tour in Eastern Europe. The new album “Embryo” came out on the 10th of February 2015. The album received great reviews worldwide and Embryo started a European tour in May with Melechesh, Keep of Kalessin, and Tribulation. After a great show at MetalFest in the Czech Republic in July, the band joined Nile and Suffocation for the second part of their European tour in September. In 2016 the band has been part of the second leg of the “What Should Not Be Unearthed” Nile tour with Melechesh and Mithridatic. Embryo finished the recordings of the new album in January at Domination Studios again with guru Simone Mularoni. The band played at the 2017 edition of MetalFest in the Czech Republic on Sunday, June 4th, and signed a deal with Art Gates Records for the release of the 4th studio album “A Step Beyond Divinity” which came out on the 27th of October 2017 in Spain and the 24th of November 2017 in the rest of the world. The album has been enthusiastically reviewed entering the 2017 best albums of the year charts in various webzines all over the world. In November 2019 the band joined “The Last Atonement European tour” supporting Immolation, Ragnarok, and Monuments of Misanthropy for all the shows. In December the band released a free download digital EP including the new song Misguided legacy and three live songs taken from a live show of the band. In 2020 the famous drummer George Kollias (Nile) joined Embryo in the writing of the new album. The band entered again Domination Studio in July 2021 to record the brand new fifth album “A Vivid Shade On Misery”, released in early 2023 on Rockshots Records.

TZIMANI Rock Out A “Haunting” New Single Off Upcoming Album Out “I Feel Fine” Out November 2024

New Album “I Feel Fine” Out Nov 15th via Glory or Death Records (Vinyl) & Noize Cartel (Digital)

Breaking out with their self-titled debut EP in 2018, San Diego, USA’s Eddie and Seb Vazquez brother duo that makes Tzimani are excited to announce their first full-length album entitled “I Feel Fine” set for release this coming November 15th on Glory or Death Records (Vinyl) and Noize Cartel (Digital).

Picking up right where the 2018 EP dropped off, “I Feel Fine” features the same elements of catchy hooks, clean rhythms, and dynamic vocal lines. However, there are bits of deviation when it comes to injecting new elements. Fans will hear an added synthesizer for some of the tracks, an exploration into AOR rock, and some expressions of today’s modern music scene for this collection of eight songs of their finest hour adds.

Drummer Sebastien Vazquez comments:

“You know those albums that you listen to over and over again and you just know when the first song hits your sense of familiarity, nostalgia, warmth, and comfort? That is what we are trying to encapsulate. The album is straightforward heavy metal mixed with modern elements with a dash of AOR and we feel it is the best representation to show everyone what we are capable of. We are also trying to represent the future of the band and give everyone an entry into some of the larger questions that we struggle with and how we choose to represent that with our songwriting. We are not the type of band that is capable of singing about stories, dragons, and swords, but we excel at writing tunes that people can genuinely relate to and connect with.”

Releasing the album’s first single “We Stand and Fight” this past July, Tzimani, is unveiling its next preview to the record with the track “Haunting”, a song about toxic relationships and people having the courage to walk away from them. The song is infused with a driving synth-heavy pulse that not only carries the mid-tempo piece with elegance and eloquence it also pieces it all together with a melancholy timbre. It is one of Tzimani’s favorite songs to play and it really opens the dynamic capabilities of the band and what they can achieve sonically.

“This is the next song we are releasing to genuinely hype the release of the record and we feel that it is the most dynamic piece we have ever released given the nature of the added synthesizer part alongside a melancholic atmosphere. It still has all the parts that make the song a Tzimani tune with a heartbeating rhythmic riff with layers of change all throughout the piece. The drums and how they accompany the overall orchestration of the arrangement do a good job of providing energy during all of the key moments of the song as it transitions from verse to chorus to solo break, to solo. It has been a live staple for us for a couple of years now and we are eager to see the response of how folks receive it. For us, we wanted to put together a mid-tempo song that kept things fresh and we really think we were able to do that with Haunting.” adds Sebastien Vazquez.

Rebuilding the momentum that was lost during the pandemic years, Tzimani is hitting the ground with a renewed vigor and sense of excitement to bring their music and live performance to places to those familiar with them and beyond and recapture the support of all the fans they left hanging over the last five years to let them know that they are back full force.

The fearless gruesome twosome of Tzimani is recommended for fans of Van Halen, Striker, Traveler, Skull Fist, and Cauldron.

About: Formed in 2017, Tzimani hit the ground running with their debut demo and a relentless West Coast and Southwest tour, winning over fans with electrifying performances in cities like Portland, Seattle, and Texas. Their 2018 self-titled EP, released via Noize Cartel Records, became a launching pad that propelled them into the national spotlight. With over 100 shows across North America and standout appearances at major festivals, the band quickly built a reputation as a live act not to be missed.

Drawing from legendary influences like Iron Maiden, Van Halen, and Mötley Crüe, Tzimani’s music is a bold fusion of melodic AOR and the raw power of old-school heavy metal. With twin-guitar leads, soaring solos, and thunderous drumming, their sound is equal parts grit and glory. Eddie’s vocals, reminiscent of Dio, along with his fierce guitar work, channel the spirit of classic rock while still pushing forward into new sonic territory.

After their 2020 expanded re-release of the EP, Tzimani faced an unexpected pause as the world shut down. But through the stillness, the brothers’ creativity simmered, building anticipation for their next big move. Now, with their first full-length “I Feel Fine” (Out Nov 2024), they’re stepping into uncharted territory by incorporating synthesizers to deepen their sound, adding a dynamic, atmospheric layer that brings new emotion and energy to their music.

Tzimani’s partnership with Glory or Death Records marks the beginning of a fresh journey. With their signature blend of melody and muscle, the band is primed to reach a broader audience and reignite their momentum on stages across the country. The stage is set, the wheels are turning again, and Tzimani is ready to reclaim their place as a force in the rock and metal scene.

“Typically, when promo proclaims that a band represents a “bold new take” on a traditional, well-trod style, you can expect the same: yet another forgettable “revitalization” of a sound and aesthetic that has been done to death, reanimated, and then slaughtered by copycats once more. In the case of Tzimani, the status quo is effectively put in its place.” – Sleeping Village

“Electrifying pace sets ‘We Are The Ones’ on fire, hurtling along at full velocity, displaying all the hallmarks associated with the “foot on the monitor” style of traditional heavy metal. Hitting hard like an out of control wrecking ball” – Frenzy Fire / Metal Gods TV

” refreshing heavy rock 8/10″ – SoundMagnet (German)

” This two piece hailing from San Diego shredded their way through their set. Straight up heavy metal brothers rocking their way across North America. Eddie can really play the guitar. Each song they played were full of mean riffs and ripping solos.” – Metal As Medicine (Live Review – 2019 – Kelowna, BC)

” They surprised us all when vocalist/guitarist Eddie Vazquez announced that they were the only other band on the bill. It was their best time to shine. Kudos to you Vazquez brothers!… Tzimani set up shop, and made that stage their biatch! Soon enough they began playing songs that were not included in their demo such as “Overdrive,” and dished out their hits “Final Hour” and “Get Me Out Of Here” which are available on their demo. These bros emitted a tremendous confidence and were still glowing from their recent inaugural American tour.” – Ugh Metal (Live Review – 2017 – San Diego, CA)

0 Out Now! Ophidian Memory Unleashes New Melodic Death Album “Carrion Lord”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 27, 2024

Ophidian Memory Unleashes New Melodic Death Album “Carrion Lord”

Melodic death metal project Ophidian Memory, the brainchild of Blake Lamoureux, is set to release its latest album “Carrion Lord” on September 27th, 2024. Ophidian Memory, hailing from Des Moines, USA, is known for its innovative approach to metal, using melodic death metal as a foundation to incorporate elements of black metal, thrash, progressive metal, and metalcore. “Carrion Lord” continues this tradition, offering a heavier and more unrelenting sound compared to its predecessor “Our Shattered Garden”. Lamoureux comments:

“Carrion Lord is the most ambitious and brutal Ophidian Memory release to date. The lyrics portray themes of deception, sacrifice, undreamt horror, and war. Musically the death and black metal notches have been turned all the way up, while the progressive notch has been turned down greatly until late in the album, giving a reprieve to the listener for a slight moment until the record ultimately closes with a ripping epic finishing track.”

The album is best experienced as a front-to-back listening journey, with each track offering a unique blend of subgenres that keeps the listener engaged throughout. Lyrically, “Carrion Lord” delves deeper into the fictional universe of “Existence”, a dark fantasy epic created by Lamoureux that has become the cornerstone of Ophidian Memory‘s conceptual approach.

On this album, Ophidian Memory has moved away from the progressive metal feel, choosing to take on a darker and heavier tone which reflects the brutal narrative this time around. Expect lots of unhinged vocals, riffs for days, and oppressive drums. For those who love extreme metal of all decades, in the vein of The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, and Blood Red Throne, this one’s for you.

“Pythonic comes from Canada with ‘Epica’, a track that features fast-paced guitar riffs, heavy drums and an engaging, torn vocal that delivers to listeners the essence of metal and subverts such as alternative, thrash and even melodic, being perfect to the circle and not to leave anyone standing still.” – Os Garot Os Deliverpool

“Pythonic has an EP for you. Blending Thrash with Old School Swedish Death Metal, the band manages to sound like Entombed but without losing its unique style… So if you have a few minutes of anger to drain, these guys are going to cover you!” – Metal Eclipse Reviews

“Overall I’m a pretty big fan of this record. If you want something that sounds maybe like an Anthrax or a Slayer record then you really want to check this out. The most dynamic and unique part of this EP, in particular is the vocals are double-tracked and they’re very high in the mix which is something that is somewhat different than a lot of the other metal releases this year which I greatly appreciate. If you want something that has a lot of the thrash guitar element then you’re really going to want to check this out. The guitar and drum parts are fantastic, they really keep the songs very tight even though the vocals are very in your face and they’re usually the the first thing that you would notice with this kind of record but overall this is very strong.” – Brutally Delicious

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 26, 2024

Streaming Now! THE WRING Release Highly Anticipated New Prog Album “Nemesis”

New Album “Nemesis” Out Sept 27th, 2024 via WormHoleDeath Records

The Wring – Album Lineup – L-R – Kyle Brian Abbott – Drums, Don Dewulf – Guitars, Reggie Hache – Bass, Vocals & Keyboards

Canadian prog The Wring are pleased to release their much-anticipated fourth studio album “Nemesis”. This album marks a significant step in the band’s journey, showcasing a more cohesive and refined sound that blends their heavy rock roots with progressive and jazz influences. With eight tracks spanning just over 40 minutes, “Nemesis” adds a new, technical twist to progressive metal. Guitarist Don Dewulf comments:

“Thematically, Nemesis speaks to conflict of all sorts. Musically, there is a similar conflict of musical styles. The central idea of every Wring album is to combine many genres in a single song, so while nothing is new, hopefully, the combination can seem fresh or different. For many listeners, even the most dedicated, certain musical stylings are an onerous listen – jazz, prog, even classical. The idea of Nemesis is to give the listener a way to enjoy odd times, peculiar harmony, and aggressive riffs without having to give up their soul to do it. The backbone of every song is firmly rooted in traditional hard rock so there is always something to grab onto.”

“Nemesis” explores themes of conflict, both external and internal, with each song representing a different facet of the struggles we face. From the driving intensity of tracks like “Badlands” and “The Sword” to the melodic intricacy of “The Nail” and “Before I Disappear”, the album is a dynamic journey through the band’s musical and lyrical vision. Reggie Hache’s expanded role on vocals, bass, and keyboards brings a new depth to The Wring’s sound, while Dewulf’s guitar work continues to anchor the band’s heavy yet nuanced approach.

Throughout “Nemesis”, the playing is tight, precise, and yet still free-flowing, each instrument complementing the others and often providing a steady hand while the other players head in different directions.

Enjoy “Nemesis” as a metal album, a prog album, a rock album, or even a pseudo-jazz affair; it’s all of those things. It is recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Opeth, and Porcupine Tree.

Listen to the full album stream premiere for “Nemesis” via TheProgSpace HERE.

“Nemesis” will be released on September 27, 2024, via Wormholedeath, with distribution by Aural/Orchard, it is recommended for fans of Dream Theatre, Opeth, and Porcupine Tree.

“Prog’s Tracks Of The Week – Aug 16, 2024 – The Wring – The Sword” – Prog Magazine

What the press has said about The Wring:

“Here’s one for prog dorks. This outfit’s third outing (Spectra) features drums by Marco Minnemann so you know the rhythms are mad. The regulars in the band ain’t slouches either though. This is intricate and melodic prog done well.” – Metal Injection (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

“A band composed of top artists from the world prog scene, each of whom brings their own style to the band’s sound. Technique and energy, melodic passages, dynamic and expressive vocals and elaborate instrumental sections characterise the album. A recommended listen for all lovers of Progressive Metal sounds, an album to listen to again and again, always managing to give us positive emotions.” – Progressive Rock Journal (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

“Tired of prog metal bands who fire away odd rhythms, fast solos and complex arrangements? Half of them trying to sound like Dream Theater but all failing completely? Look no further. The Wring from Canada offers great musicians who find their own way through the prog metal jungle. I said great musicians and I really stand for that. Or how about Marco Minneman (drums), Chandler Mogel (vocals), Don Dewulf (guitars), Reggie Hache (bass, keyboards) and Isamu McGregor (keyboards)”… Sometimes they are a bit more commercial, like in the first song ”Stiletto”, reminding me a lot of Threshold. Other songs bring a bombastic wall of sound, with riffs do die for – ”The Wolf” is a great example. The early parts of ”Fallen” has some Rush vibes (of the later and more rock base Rush era) and also softer parts Mogel is a very good vocalist, and he can alter his voice a lot. Something of a voice chameleon!” – Melodic.net (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

“The opening notes of ‘Sins’ remind me of the opening salvo in Judas Priest’s ‘The Ripper’. Some of the riff structures are also reminiscent of Priest and it’s another great track.” – TheProgSpace (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

“The third album Spectra by the Canadian progressive rock project The Wring is downright infectious with its joy of playing and catchy Hard Prog Rock songs. There really is a lot of light and very little shadow here.” – Soundmagnet (The Wring – Spectra – 2022)

““Wring² Project Cipher comes with a heavy, classic rock feel, but there’s an epic, questing nature to tunes like Sorceress, Steelier and Dose that pushes The Wring beyond metal norms and into prog territory.” – Prog Magazine (The Wring – Project Cipher 2021)

Folk metal fans, get ready to join the battle alongside Forsaken Rite, Edmonton, Canada’s premier symphonic folk metal band, who are proudly releasing their new EP “The Forgotten West”. This five-track EP marks a bold new chapter in the band’s journey, showcasing their evolution and growth as artists while staying true to the epic, adventurous spirit that has defined them since their formation in 2012. They comment on the upcoming release:

“We want this EP to be a continuation from our full-length album “The Northern Saga”. Where every song, though, unique, and listenable on its own, is still very much part of the whole story, the adventure. We want our listeners/fans to join us once again on our adventures and feel like they are every part of the Warparty contributing to its success.”

“The Forgotten West” is a collection of songs that take listeners on a grand adventure across multiple regions, times, and events. From the haunting melodies of the title track to the thunderous battle hymn “Call to War”, the EP weaves together intricate orchestral arrangements, soaring clean vocals, and hard-hitting distorted vocals to create a rich tapestry of sound. Forsaken Rite’s signature accordion-inspired leads are accompanied by distinctive flute lines and expansive orchestral elements, all supported by virtuosic guitar solos, driving bass, and thundering percussion.

This EP is not only a testament to the band’s musical prowess, but also a reintroduction to Forsaken Rite after a period of significant change. With a new lineup and a refined sound, “The Forgotten West” serves as a bridge between Forsaken Rite’s past and future. It is recommended for fans of Nightwish, Faun, and Ensiferum.

““The Northern Saga” is definitely worth checking out as it has some solid songs, strong performances and catchy tracks. Another epic album from north of the border.” – Folk-Metal.nl (2017)

“…The conquest based on riffs warriors and vindictive is launched, no prisoners and drink in the skull of our enemies tonight! But FORSAKEN RITE is not just a fight, it’s also a real passion for Scandinavian shamanic atmospheres that are inserted in small touches along the tracks…” (Translated from French) – kaosguards.com (2017)

SANDVEISS’ New Video “Stand In The Fire” Ignites The Sonic Palette Off New Album Out October 2024

Quebec City, Canada’s heavy rock powerhouse Sandveiss is now releasing their electrifying new single, the title track from their upcoming album “Stand in the Fire”. The single showcases the band’s signature blend of heavy riffs and melodic vocals, pushing their sound into new territories while staying true to their rock roots. Vocalist/guitarist Luc Bourgeois explains the single:

“The main idea for the song “Standing in the Fire” was written during the early days of the lockdown in March 2020, actually after watching the “Rocky” movies with my son. The soundtracks of those movies inspired me to write a straightforward rock song as a tribute to the bands that made me want to play guitar when I was a kid in the 80s.”

He goes on to say that lyrically, the song addresses science denialism and the damage caused by disinformation. Belief and knowledge are two very different things, and unfortunately, there seems to be a blurring of the lines between the two for many people. Sandveiss always tries to push things a little further on every record that they do. On this one, they expanded their boundaries on all sides: the heavy is heavier, the prog is proggier, and the catchy is catchier.

The single, mixed and mastered by renowned producer Karl Daniel Lidén (known for his work with Dozer, Greenleaf, and Katatonia), offers listeners a fresh, textured sound that elevates Sandveiss‘ already impressive sonic palette. For fans of heavy rock with progressive elements and powerful melodies, “Stand in the Fire” is a must-listen, especially for those with an interest in Mastodon, The Sword, and Dozer.

“As a successor to their KILLER previous album, Scream Queen, Saboteur holds its own and shows growth from the band, both in writing and musicianship. Saboteur is not meant to be played at lower decibels.” – Doom Charts

“Sur ce nouvel album, le son propre et puissant sert à merveille des riffs ciselés et des mélodies accrocheuses. Chaque titre est une petite pépite de plaisir musical sertie dans une production jamais tape à l’œil, où les effets discrets relèvent la sauce.” – Weirdsound

“Sometimes you hear something, and it hits you so hard it automatically becomes incredibly special to you. That has been my experience with Saboteur and Sandveiss.” – Metal Nation
