HELLFIRE 76 Turn Up The Volume With New High Octane Southern Metal Album “Rags to Rage”

Southern Metal powerhouse duo Hellfire 76 has now released their first full-length album “Rags to Rage”. The eight-track collection, clocking in at 31 minutes, represents a perfect distillation of the band’s heavy Southern stoner devil metal sound. They delve into a variety of topics from critical examination of dictatorships and religion to personal, relatable experiences. The comment on the record:

“The album is a continuation of our first release, in that the subject matter is all thought-provoking. As for a lot of music, we want the lyrics to be literal but also open to the listener’s interpretation. Sticking with the theme and ideas of Voodoo, Witchcraft, The Occult, and other oddities. We want to take the listeners on a dark and ominous journey into a place they don’t normally think about. Musically, it’s straight up, fuzzed out, uptempo jams, but with the various lyrical topics, it gives the listener a little more to chew on.”

Recorded at Catalyst Recording in Charlotte, NC with producer Rob Tavaglione, “Rags to Rage” draws deeply from the well of Southern Gothic tradition and occult themes. The album showcases the duo’s remarkable ability to create a massive sonic landscape with just two members, featuring Von Bury’s (LOVESUCKER, BLOODY HAMMERS) multi-instrumental talents (guitar, bass, organ, vocals) alongside Mike McGuiness’s (FACE THE WORLD) powerful drumming.

The heavy dose of fuzzy, groove-laden rock will appeal to fans of doom, stoner rock, and traditional metal especially those with an interest in Clutch, Killing Joke, and Fu Manchu.

Kelowna, BC, Canada’s rising psychedelic stoner rock outfit SweetBeast is stoked to reveal their new single “Dream Eater” taken off their debut album “Illusions”. The single showcases the band’s signature blend of celestial psychedelia and earth-shaking desert rock across its hypnotic 5:29 runtime. The band comments:

“This track holds a special place in our hearts, as it has been with us on our journey since the inception of SweetBeast in 2018. “Dream Eater” explores the delicate interplay between dreams and reality, capturing the essence of fleeting thoughts and whimsical fantasies. Gore House Productions proudly announces the release of Necrambulant‘s second full-length “Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance” to follow 2022’s “A Feast of Festering Flesh” (EP) and 2013 debut album “Infernal Infectious Necro-ambulatory Pandemic”.

The sophomore album due out on March 7th, 2025, is a relentless record presented as an anthology of all that Necrambulant represents, horror, gore, and slamming brutal death metal. Musically, the band incorporated a full arsenal of death metal and slam to further define their self-described sound of “Inhuman Slam Grind”. Lyrically, the album has something to offer on many levels of thematic brutality; zombies, serial killers, cannibals, sci-fi, and Warhammer.

“We think our new full-length will be well received by fans of our earlier work. We put out our somewhat experimental EP back in 2022 to a very mixed bag of reviews. We had kind of expected that particular release to receive some heat, as it was a bit of a departure from our previous sound. For the EP, we wanted short, to-the-point, less modern-sounding slam/death metal. We wanted it to have the sound of something like a reanimated corpse that had been lying out in the desert, dried out, dusty, and decayed; that was my approach to the vocal sound and some people dug it while others hated it. But with the new album being more of a return to form, we hope that it will be more well-received among fans who have been with us since the beginning as well as something fresh for our newer listeners to enjoy as well. The new album is just a relentless barrage of slamming brutal death metal. We strived for a no bullshit / no filler track list that will just pummel the listener with heaviness.” says the band.

To infest the auditory canals of extreme metal fans around the globe, Necrambulant is unshackling their first single “Chunked Pus Chowder” accompanied by a gruesome claymation video. The band explains further on the track:

“This is one that was written with more humor in mind than anything else. Just a song that’s gross for the sake of being gross. Peter Jackson’s 80s films “Bad Taste” and “Dead Alive” (especially the dinner table scene) probably played a role in coming up with this one.” adds the band.

US band Necrambulant play Brutal Death Metal of the Slammiest Slam variety that ever did Slam. Or something. You get the idea. The sound of this début album is absolutely huge. You can almost feel the zombies pressing into your flesh like a physical presence. The riffs are so fat, bloated and outright heavy it’s amazing that the speakers don’t sink into the floor just by transmitting these festering, dense sounds. The tracks are all about finding the heaviest and most brutal ways to play Death Metal, and everything else is of secondary concern. That’s not to say that all of the other elements to the songs are unimportant or poor, it’s just not the priority here. I mean, they even find ways to sound heavier than normal when going fast. Most of this album is a complete chug-fest though, and it would sound boring if it weren’t for the fact that it’s just done so well… All I can do is recommend that you turn the volume up enough to make your ears bleed and sit in a darkened room until the music just takes you. Releasing their fourth studio album “Nemesis” this past September, Canadian prog rockers The Wring is inviting fans to enter the “Badlands” with their latest lyric video in support of the record. Don Dewulf explains the track further:

“Bad behaviour of major media outlets has given rise to powerful lower tier/social media that operate without any requirement for truth or decency; conflicting accounts, conspiracy theory, assertions without proof but presented as fact. It’s everywhere, but most obvious in the USA where almost every issue is dramatically polarized. Even the average semi-intelligent person doesn’t really know what to believe anymore. Musically, Badlands starts with a crushing bass riff leading into an angular verse and a very metal pre-chorus. The chorus is open and singable. I love the solo. It’s got some Lydian forms which has a ‘crooked major’ jazzy kind of vibe. Fun to play.”

The Wring‘s fourth album “Nemesis” marks a significant step in the band’s journey, showcasing a more cohesive and refined sound that blends their heavy rock roots with progressive and jazz influences. With eight tracks spanning just over 40 minutes, “Nemesis” adds a new, technical twist to progressive metal.

Exploring themes of external and internal conflict, each song represents a different facet of our struggles. From the driving intensity of tracks like “Badlands” and “The Sword” to the melodic intricacy of “The Nail” and “Before I Disappear”, the album is a dynamic journey through the band’s musical and lyrical vision. Reggie Hache’s expanded role on vocals, bass, and keyboards brings a new depth to The Wring’s sound, while Dewulf’s guitar work continues to anchor the band’s heavy yet nuanced approach.

Throughout “Nemesis,” the playing is tight, precise, and yet still free-flowing. Each instrument complements the others and often provides a steady hand while the other players move in different directions. It’s a metal album, a prog album, a rock album, or even a pseudo-jazz affair.

“Thematically, Nemesis speaks to conflict of all sorts. Musically, there is a similar conflict of musical styles. The central idea of every Wring album is to combine many genres in a single song, so while nothing is new, hopefully, the combination can seem fresh or different. For many listeners, even the most dedicated, certain musical stylings are an onerous listen – jazz, prog, even classical. The idea of Nemesis is to give the listener a way to enjoy odd times, peculiar harmony, and aggressive riffs without having to give up their soul to do it. The backbone of every song is firmly rooted in traditional hard rock so there is always something to grab onto.”

Seven years in the making since 2017’s EP “W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T.” and touring across Canada with Annihilator and Australia’s Mason, and a short hiatus, Montreal, Canada’s MUTANK are discharging their new album “Think Before You Think” on November 29th via Boonsdale Records.

“As you may have heard, on our night drive to Portland we drove over a large rock that rolled onto the road as we turned a corner on Highway 101. Everyone was unharmed but our van took irreparable damage and has been written off completely. Unfortunately, due to time and logistical constraints, we will not be able to continue the tour.

STRIKER was on tour to support their latest album “ULTRAPOWER” produced by Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Tallah, King 810). The seventh full-length from STRIKER follows their Juno Award-winning self-released record “Play to Win” (2018) unleashed on their label Record Breaking Records.

With the band writing material since 2018, “ULTRAPOWER” is a collection of Striker tinkering and exploring new avenues. From the album’s opening track “Circle of Evil”, a Malmsteen-esque metal banger about secret societies and the evil dealings behind closed doors to their previously released single “BEST of the BEST of the BEST” serving up some big riffs and hockey arena vocals to “Blood Magic”, which might be one of Striker‘s most progressive songs, taking cues from bands like King Diamond, with its unconventional structure and punctuated guitar solos. From the band delving into their obsession for late 80s AOR and pop rock with “City Calling”, an ode to 1987, and bands like Toto and Kenny Loggins with their hook-powered albums. To fans experiencing the band’s first attempt at a synth-wave track with “Live To Fight Another Day”, this new offering sees Striker making a shredding love letter to the hard-rocking era of guilty pleasures.

“Starting with the album cover, we wanted the artwork to represent how we feel as a band right now. We are an engine that is fired up and ready to roll. We’re made of metal and our circuits gleam! The album itself is an amalgamation of 5 years of writing and exploring music. With influences from AOR to Speed Metal, Hardcore to Hair Metal, Steely Dan to Deathcore, you name it, it made its way into the album. In the end with the help of Josh Schroeder’s guiding hand, we melted it all together to present something uniquely Striker. Lyrically we’ve stuck to the Striker tradition of writing montage songs for movies that don’t exist, songs about our spiraling serfdom, and lyrics about the evils that lurk in the shadows.”

Montreal, Canada’s Tumbleweed Dealer, the enigmatic musical project led by Sebastien Painchaud, is set to make a triumphant return with their highly anticipated fourth studio album, “Dark Green”. “The lead line in this song has many twists and turns, and the chord sequence is very dark, accentuating the tension and foreboding of Joe being hunted by the Executioner. The verses are noticeably bare, bringing focus to the vocal melody which was run through a Leslie speaker and gives a spooky inner voice feel. The chorus melody has the trademark Mad Parish singalong aspect, with an interesting use of 2 minor chords next to each other which is unconventional generally. The song is capped off with chanting gang vocals at the end of every chorus, a call and answer from the throngs of the faithful.”

Shores of Null‘s delivered a powerful performance at Hellfest in France this past summer as part of the band’s extensive touring in support of their new album “The Loss of Beauty”. This fourth album follows the acclaimed “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying)”, unanimously considered by fans and critics as one of the doom-metal gems of recent years. Both albums were recorded between 2019 and early 2020, and although “The Loss of Beauty” was initially conceived as the band’s third album, ‘Beyond The Shores’ took its place as it better reflected the doom and gloom sentiment of the ‘annus horribilis’ 2020.

Across 11 tracks (plus two bonus tracks), Shores Of Null once again submerges listeners with tempestuous and turbulent riffs. The band continues to hone its sound and take its melancholic dark metal to new heights by mastering an assorted palette of genres with inbred poignancy. The lyrics celebrate beauty in imperfection and transience and are meant to be an invitation to seek beauty in little things, especially those unexpected and ephemeral.

Peru’s brutal death metal contingent INTESTINAL LACERATION has a new guitar and bass playthrough to unleash upon fans. The video is for their track “Abyss of Atrocities” off their latest album “Chaotic Eschatological Madness” released in 2022 from Gore House Productions.

The band adds about the track:

“This song is about a fight for the end of the world that ends with one’s autophagy reflecting itself in the narrative as a mirror, but it is oneself.”

Formed in 2009, Intestinal Laceration is for the twisted minds obsessed by the extreme, ancestral eschatology, existential cosmology, anti-Christianity, cannibalism, genetic mutation, and pathological malformations.

Conceived in the underworld of Lima, Peru, Intestinal Laceration began rehearsals where compositions of fast and rotten riffs, extreme blast beats, and overwhelmingly chaotic guttural vocals converged. Grinding the local scene over the next five years, the band unshackled their debut EP “Species of Ptrid Minds” in 2015 on Coyote Records (RU).

Their follow-up and first full-length “Chaotic Eschatological Madness” is chaotic, forceful, heavy, and gutturally raw for a brutal and pleasurable listening experience. An evolution from their EP, the album is high energy and nods to true old-school death metal with its elaborate and complex riffs.

The lyrical theme of “Chaotic Eschatological Madness” deals with the cosmological existential anguish as an answer to the absurdities of the world, searching for the true essence of nature in the phenomenological subjective experiences and cosmological knowledge, manifested in the cult of ancestral eschatologies as a symbolic cognitive cultural legacy that is shown in its original way of conceiving the universe (cosmological prefiguration). The album also talks about catastrophic natural phenomena, the regeneration of time, and the extinction of the human race as a misanthropic seed because of its self-destructive nature.
