Florida, USA’s progressive metal powerhouse The Mourning has just released their captivating new music video for “The Mountain” a visually stunning exploration of tranquility, spiritual connection, and personal transformation from their latest album “Hush” released earlier this year. The band comments on the conception of the track:

“The single was written while overlooking the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina, capturing the serene experience of escaping the city’s hustle and bustle. This song reflects how such tranquility can bring a closer connection to one’s inner divine.”

The track starts with a soft, beautiful melody that mirrors the peacefulness of the mountains, gradually evolving into a powerful prog metal anthem. This transition symbolizes the awakening of deeper spiritual consciousness. As the song progresses, intricate instrumental layers and complex rhythms emerge. The soaring vocals deliver emotional intensity, with lyrics infused with themes of nature and spirituality. The climax features catchy cadences and commanding guitar riffs, blending technical prowess with melodic sensibility.

The video was filmed against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Appalachian Mountains in Blue Ridge, Georgia, and it is a cinematic journey that mirrors the song’s profound musical and lyrical landscape. “The Mountain” is recommended for those who enjoy the grandeur of nature and progressive music, especially bands like Porcupine Tree, Polyphia, and Haken.

Watch and listen to the music video for “The Mountain” via its premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

“Hush” was released on June 24, 2024, and is available at Spotify | Themourning.bandcamp.com | Themourningmusic.com/store/ (CD, Digital)

Out Now! Edmonton Instrumental Rock Phenom JON HARRIS Debut Album “Parallel Heart”

Photography by Yahozka Godfrey at Gabriela Cruz

Today marks the worldwide release of Jon Harris’ (The Host of The Rock Metal Podcast) highly anticipated debut album, Parallel Heart, out now via Epictronic Records!

Jon Harris, an instrumental rock guitarist and producer from Edmonton, delivers a unique blend of bluesy hard rock and funky synth-pop in “Parallel Heart”. Written, recorded, and produced entirely by Jon in his home studio, the album features his multi-instrumental talents across guitar, bass, drums, and piano. Drawing inspiration from relationships and life’s delicate balance, Parallel Heart takes listeners on an unforgettable musical journey.

The album offers an eclectic mix of genres, from the 80s-inspired synth-pop vibes of 97BPM to the hard-hitting rock intensity of ‘Togetherness’ and ‘Wasted Entertainment’. The track ‘Mehnoynoy’ also features a personal touch, with drum contributions from Jon’s son, Gabriel.

“Parallel Heart” is a fusion of infectious grooves and powerful riffs—imagine if Prince and Jeff Beck jammed together in the studio. This is Jon Harris‘ musical vision at its finest, showcasing his passion for instrumental rock with every note.

“guitar virtuoso Jon Harris offers a welcome throwback on ‘Togetherness’, the second single to be released from his forthcoming LP ‘Parallel Heart’. An instrumental number, its mid tempo and groove oriented base is immediately reminiscent of works by Joe Satriani, but unlike so many fretboard freaks, Harris clearly values a great melody instead of a pure shred. Here, he lays down a semi bluesy tone over a solid rock groove, before branching out to inject a funk derived rhythm with a cleaner tone, and bell like melodies. The arrangement eventually finds room for a few slightly fuzzy sounding harmonics and a melody that could be one of Satch’s best, circa ‘The Extremist’.” – Real Gone Rocks

“It’s Friday! And we have the pleasure of adding the new single “Togetherness” from six-string slinger Jon Harris. An instrumental driving rock track with an accessible melody and plenty of layered soloing to keep you engaged throughout, “Togetherness” is a rewarding five minutes without those pesky vocals! Taken from his forthcoming album “Parallel Heart” set for a December release, catch Jon Harris on your Home for the Best New Rock…W-J-O-EEEE!”

“His artistic ability blends technical brilliance and emotional depth, creating immersive soundscapes that push the boundaries of rock.” – Video Sound Art Magazine

0 Out Now! Kuwait’s ABZY’s New Album “Hollow Bloom” Tells A Story of Growth w/ Intimate Sounds And Heavy Tunes

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 13, 2024

Out Now! Kuwait’s ABZY’s New Album “Hollow Bloom” Tells A Story of Growth w/ Intimate Sounds And Heavy Tunes

Kuwaiti singer-songwriter and metal enthusiast, ABZY (frontman of WAZIN and former vocalist & guitarist of Srai) returns to close out 2024 with his debut full-length album “Hollow Bloom” out now as of December 12, 2024.

Embracing the energy of METAL, Middle Eastern roots, along with a global music palette and his personal experiences, he has fashioned it all to present a 10-track journey. The record dives into the beauty of contrasts-soft, intimate sounds meet heavy, intense moments, all woven together to tell a story of growth and transformation. Hollow Bloom is for anyone who’s felt the pull between light and shadow, the challenge and beauty of change. This project is deeply personal ABZY, and sharing it with the world is his dream.

“I’ve always longed to be heard and to share my stories with the world. Through making music, I discovered the perfect outlet—it feels like the most natural path for me, my true calling, and my sole purpose in life. I believe fans will truly enjoy the album because it offers a diverse blend of vibes, ensuring there’s something for everyone to connect with. I want listeners to connect with the music and enjoy the journey it takes them on. I also hope to show them that, in today’s world, anyone can create meaningful art—even from the comfort of their own bedroom. Grateful for your support, join me on this musical journey, Much love!” adds ABZY.

“Hollow Bloom” is a raw, introspective exploration of the human experience, blending metal, rock, and soft tones into a compelling sonic journey. ABZY’s powerful songwriting captures the emotional turmoil of past trauma, the weight of toxic relationships, and the universal search for peace, all wrapped in a perfect balance of aggressive and soothing melodies.

From the opening track, Mirror, which delves into self-recovery, to the closing song, Broken World, a poignant critique of societal issues, Hollow Bloom never shies away from confronting life’s toughest challenges. Each track feels deeply personal, yet universally relatable. Songs like Snake and Hurricane convey the pain of betrayal and toxic relationships, while Karma and Mistakes reflect self-awareness and growth. Influencer is a sharp critique of the impact of social media, making a powerful statement on the responsibility of modern influencers.

The album’s emotional depth is balanced by its musical versatility. The heavy riffs and pounding drums create intense moments, while softer, more introspective moments offer respite. This ebb and flow of energy adds an unpredictable yet cohesive dynamic to the album, keeping listeners hooked from start to finish. Hollow Bloom isn’t just an album; it’s an experience.

“I initially planned to release these songs as singles, but my fans have been asking for an album, so I decided to give them what they wanted. Plus, I already have other songs ready to release next year!” adds ABZY.

People can expect an amazing time and incredible energy from the live shows. ABZY has plans in 2025 for live performances to leave everyone with a smile on their faces and a spark of inspiration in their hearts.

Recommended for fans of Linkin Park, 30 Seconds to Mars, Bad Omens, I Prevail, Silent Planet, Sleep Token, and Spiritbox, ABZY‘s debut album “Hollow Bloom” is available on digital platforms.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 12, 2024

Progressive Collective LUNAR (ft. members from Helion Prime, Beholder, Mokili Wa) Shares A Cold Embrace w/ Video “Weakening Winter Touch”

ft. members Helion Prime, Beholder, Vis Mystica, Mokili Wa, Nordic Frost, Outloud, Double Vision

Fourth Studio Album “Tempora Mutantur” Out Jan 2025 via Saibot Reigns Records

Making Live Debut at Hyperspace Metal Festival 2025 (Vancouver, BC) – April 11th

Top 1st Row – Ryan Price – Bass, Alex Bosson – Drums
Middle 2nd Row – Connor McCray – Lead Guitar, Chandler Mogel – Clean Vocals
Bottom 3rd Row – Carlos Alvarez – Rhythm Guitar, Brian Lewis – Growl Vocals, Anthony Stahl – Keyboards

Set to release their fourth full-length “Tempora Mutantur” this coming January 2025, progressive collective LUNAR is sharing their second single “Weakening Winter Touch” accompanied by a lyric video to preview what’s to come. The song deals with feelings of weakness and powerlessness in our circumstances. Often asking “Why?” or “What did I do to deserve this?” Musically it’s a powerful song, heavy on the synths with a catchy and powerful chorus.

Drummer and band founder Alex Bosson comments:

“I felt this song was appropriate to release in the middle of December. I know many people deal with a lot of depression, and other negative aspects of life around this time of year. This song is about the feelings of weakness and confusion we feel during those times and I hope it will help some that may be currently going through it.”

The lyric video for “Weakening Winter Touch” can be seen and heard via its premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

Founded by drummer Alex Bosson (Helion Prime, Planeswalker) and Ryan Erwin who passed in 2018, LUNAR continues in his memory. This fourth full-length “Tempora Mutantur” follows 2023’s “The Illusionist” and features a fresh lineup with the addition of guitarists Carlos Alvarez and Connor McCray (Vis Mystica) along with keyboardist Anthony Stahl plus album guests Wayne Ingram (Wildrun), Joe Gullace (Thank You Scientist) and Sam Vallen (Caligula’s Horse).

A collaboration of musical minds, and with anything LUNAR does; “Tempora Mutantur” is an emotional thematic listening experience with ups and downs musically and lyrically dealing with the passing of time and the effects it has on us physically and mentally.

“This album deals with something everyone can relate to and no one can escape: the passing of time. We get older, our perspective changes, and we gain some things, and lose others… sometimes the things and ones we love. And we struggle and fight along the way. This album deals with some of the highs and lows we deal with along this journey we all share. Hopefully, the fans will be able to resonate with it and find some solace and aid in their own experiences of time passing. I believe the songwriting has gotten stronger over the years. I think the songs are a bit more well-structured. But I think the overall sound of the band has remained pretty consistent over the years. The music is very “prog,” so it’s been diverse I think from day 1. Probably even more so now than it was at first.” adds Bosson.

Recommended for fans of Opeth, Caligula’s Horse, Haken, Tool, and Porcupine Tree, LUNAR’s “Tempora Mutantur” is due out January 31, 2025, from Saibot Reigns Records.

“It’s really well done technically by a band that clearly cares about their music and can play.” – Rock The Joint Mag (The Illusionist 2023)

“If I had one word to describe this album, it would be this one: whirlwind… “The Illusionist” is an album that is living. From its jazzy highs to its heavy metal lows, this album is constantly on its toes, never repeating itself and never, ever growing complacent. A wonderful whirlwind indeed. 9/10” – Ever Metal

“I feel like Lunar has captured the balance between accessibility and technicality very well. I hear many of the same elements in their sound that, when employed well, make bands like Dream Theater, King Crimson, Voïvod and even Sigh so engaging. I love when an album comes out of nowhere (for me, anyway) and makes this much of an impression.” – The Metal Crypt

“As I said at the start, when I heard this album I was immediately grabbed by it. The story works nicely, it is very character based and features plenty of emotions which as a listener I certainly could relate to. The music is terrific with all the players putting in excellent performances and the instrumentation used in a clever way to match all that is going on with the lead character. There are moments of heavy prog as well as metal, but melody runs through the heart of it. The fact that some of the people in the band have never met or even been in the same room together is remarkable as it sounds like everyone was on the same hymn sheet and it doesn’t sound pieced together. That is a great credit to the writing, arranging as well as all the musicians doing their parts to the benefit of the whole piece. An absolutely delightful as well as enjoyable album.” – CGCM Rock Radio

“The concept is that there are songs that are angry, songs that are confused, songs that are depressed, and everywhere in between. Styles on the album run the gambit from Progressive Metal with melodic vocals, to moments of Jazz, to cookie monster Thrash…. The musicianship is solid on all of the parts, with some excellent performances, notably vocalist Chandler Mogel… it does warrant checking out for Prog-Metal fans that like a mix of growler and melodic vocals.” – Metal Express Radio

“The Illusionist again is at the highest level of the progsphere, Bosson’s continuation of the Lunar name, honouring his co-founder and friend, through the medium of progressive metal, is an advantageous endeavour. 9/10” – Musipedia of Metal

This epic five-minute composition serves as the perfect introduction to the album’s expansive sound and themes. Listeners will be transported to a world where blues, psychedelia, and progressive rock intertwine, creating a lush auditory landscape that demands repeated listens. The band comments:

“While very much removed from a metal song, the album’s title track evokes the band’s extreme music past with splashes of black metal melodies, a short instance of the double bass drum, all of which culminates in a Zach Strouse (Rivers Of Nihil, Burial In The Sky) guest saxophone solo and basks in Antoine Baril’s (Augury, Obliveon) vintage keys.”

“Dark Green” embodies everything Tumbleweed Dealer has been working towards over the past eight years. It’s a culmination of their growth as musicians and their desire to create something truly unique. Montreal, QC – December 12, 2024

DEHUMANIZING ITATRAIN WORSHIP Unleashes “Brutal Panzer” – A Collision of Anime and Extreme Metal

New Album Out In 2025 via Stillbirth Records / Gore House Productions

Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship, the pioneering force in the anime slam and brutal death metal scene, is once again primed to demolish musical boundaries with their new single “Brutal Panzer”. This track is a taste of what’s in store from the band’s second full-length, which comes out in 2025 (Release Date TBD) on Stillbirth Records, a subsidiary of Gore House Productions. The band comments on the track:

“This song was inspired by the anime ‘Girls und Panzer’. We love the military otaku culture in the anime, so we created a song with cute melodies, but still brutal, just like the characters in the anime who are kawaii girls but drive tanks into battle. This is the second single we released for our new album. It returns to some of our 2016 styles, but also includes many new ideas.”

“Brutal Panzer” draws direct inspiration from the anime series Girls und Panzer, exemplifying the band’s commitment to creating more than just a musical gimmick. According to Kiryu, the single represents the band’s evolving mission to integrate anime culture into their music authentically.

Founded in 2014 by lead vocalist Kiryu Zhang, Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship has consistently pushed the limits of extreme music, creating a groundbreaking sound that defies traditional genre constraints.

With lyrics in both Japanese and English, Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship blends the intensity of brutal death metal with the vibrant aesthetics of anime culture. They are recommended for fans of Ingested, Hanabie, and Vulvodynia.

Watch and listen to the music video for “Brutal Panzer” via its premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

About:

Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship was founded in 2014 by lead vocalist Kiryu Zhang. The initial lineup included Kiryu Zhang, Itsuca, composer Khezk, guitarist Senjougahara Yousei, and guitarist Nibiru. In 2016, the band completed their debut EP “μ’Sick” and released it on Bandcamp and the Slam Worldwide channel. They also used this EP to participate in Japan’s largest doujinshi market, Comiket Market, where it received excellent feedback. Following this success, the band signed with Stillbirth Records to prepare for future releases. The EP has since accumulated over two million streams on Spotify.

In 2018, the band was invited by the American grindcore band Cheerleader Concubine to collaborate on an eight-track split album. However, due to personal commitments, most of the original members, except Kiryu Zhang and Khezk, left the band. Despite this setback, the band continued to compose new material and eventually found a new guitarist, Jiakang Hu, in 2019. With the new lineup, Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship completed their first full-length album, which was released in 2023.

In 2024, the band welcomed Zen on bass and Derek on drums, solidifying the current lineup. Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship embarked on the “Brutal Impact” China tour and participated in numerous indoor music festivals across China. They also took part in the death metal festival Deathfeast Open Air in Germany and held a successful headlining show in Thailand.

Achievements:

  • Released debut EP “μ’Sick” in 2016
  • Collaborated on an eight-track split album with Cheerleader Concubine in 2018
  • Completed and released their first full-length album in 2023
  • Embarked on “Brutal Impact” nationwide tour in China

Introducing their self-described Aggro-Metal and new EP entitled “M.T.M.D (Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay)” this past October, Montreal, Canada’s CHÜZO lead single “Brand New Cell” has become a real fan favourite. The song is about dedicating your life to achieving retributive justice upon your enemies, yet sacrificing your life, your loved ones, and your sanity to get your revenge.

Today, their drummer Carlos G. is sharing his latest playthrough for the track via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

Watch the music video “Brand New Cell” at https://youtu.be/CPvB0BhDxbQ

Produced with Kevin Jardine (Slaves On Dope, Uplift Recording Studio), CHÜZO ‘s new EP “M.T.M.D (Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay)” is a three-track record that marks the next chapter and true representation of what CHÜZO‘s sound is meant to be.

“This new EP was to showcase our new lineup with our newest songs that are truly representative of our musical style, a style that we proudly call ‘Aggro-Metal.’ Very aggressive metal songs that have relatable themes that anyone can listen to and understand. This EP is our audio shotgun blast to the world to pay attention to and to mosh intensively during our live sets.” adds guitarist Cristian S.

CHÜZO‘s new lineup features the ensnaring vocals of Taiwanese Brazilian transplant Mischa M joining local first-generation Chilean Canadian and mastermind Cristian S. along with Carlos G from Venezuela and Alex S from Russia who all have found Montreal, Canada to be their home-to-breed their blender of grindcore, Swedish death metal, thrash, and hardcore punk to transform a sub-genre dubbed ‘Aggro Metal’.

The EP’s lyrics are driven by self-reflection and daily struggles. The inspiration for writing comes from life experiences and trying to live past them, especially the traumatic ones. Using all bad energy from bad experiences to create something positive for yourself and the world. This EP speaks of vengeance and the bad side of dedicating your life to achieving your desired revenge despite your own life and sanity. Brutal Social Justice.

For fans of Sepultura (Cavalera Bros era 84-96), At the Gates, Napalm Death, Slipknot, and Fuck the Facts, “M.T.M.D (Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay)” was released on November 15, 2024.

“‘A Brazilian vocalist, a Chilean guitarist, a Russian bassist and a Venezuelan drummer walk into a Montreal metal bar’ might sound like the beginning of a borderline funny joke, but it, in a roundabout way, speaks to the christening of thrash, punk, death-beat quartet CHÜZO. The band’s latest EP — M.T.M.D.(Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay) — is the latest in a long line of releases since forming in 2020 and sees the light of day today. The band has a lot to say about their latest endeavour, but fans of old Sepultura, Napalm Death, At the Gates and Fuck the Facts should find something of interest ” – Decibel Magazine

“M.T.M.D is a crucial chapter in Chüzo’s evolution, showcasing a lineup that’s finally found its voice. Their journey is a testament to the transformative power of music and the ability to channel personal struggles into a collective outcry for justice.” – Amplify The Noise

“It might be something of a cliché but it remains true; this isn’t simply an EP. It’s a promo for helping Chüzo find a major label for a debut full length… [8/10]” – Metal Noise

“CHÜZO have achieved several things on “MTMD (Maximum Threshold, Minimum Decay)” that other bands dream of for an entire career. On the one hand, the clever balancing act is impressive between old school credibility and new school influences. A factor that plays a striking role in the overall absolutely high-class work is that Canadians walk in a straightforward and focused manner in the ear. The three songs on the EP entitled “MTMD” are fast-paced in nature, mill into the ear canals at massive speed and –’s most important aspect – remains there… The EP is catchy, intense and yet has matured, multi-layered and serious Half-life to be equipped. Conclusion: Check in, buy, leave, killer!” – Metal Division Magazine

About:

Fusing prog rock with Latin rhythms guitar virtuoso Rod Rodrigues has studied with renowned musicians Kiko Loureiro (Megadeth) and Greg Howe (Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson) and has received degrees from IG&T and Claretiano University. Since 1997, he has been sharing his knowledge and skills as a music teacher in Brazil, Canada, and Europe. His e-book Guitar Shred (2016) was released in both languages, Portuguese and English, and in 2018, the guitarist and teacher launched his online training course Extreme Guitar Workout, which has attracted hundreds of students from around the world. Over the years, he has also been a member of various bands, including Enemies of Reality and Falling Into a Dream (a Dream Theater tribute band).

As a solo artist, Rodrigues released his first EP in 2010, titled “The First Step: Introduction”, which gained recognition in several music publications, including Guitar Player, Cover Guitarra, and Guitarload, among others. In 2019, he released his single “T.A.G.” followed by his concept EP, “Tales of a Changing Life Part 1” in 2022. Notably, “Tales of a Changing Life Part 1” featured the talented Marco Sfogli (James LaBrie, Premiata Forneria Marconi) on the track “Woodbine Sunset”.

Thanks to his outstanding work on “Tales of a Changing Life Part 1”, Rodrigues was voted one of the top 20 Guitar Players of 2022 by the readers of Brazilian Roadie Crew Magazine.

Released in October 2024, Rod Rodrigues produced his first full-length, “Tales of a Changing Life Part 2”, with mixing by Renato Osório and mastering by Kris Crummett (Nick Johnston, Issues, Sleeping With Sirens). For the album’s guests, Rodrigues recruited guitarists Hugo Mariutti, Angel Vivaldi, and Roy Ziv; bassists Heitor Tenorio and Bruno Ladislau; drummers John Macaluso (ARK, TNT, Yngwie Malmsteen, Riot), Rodrigo Abelha, and Lucas Emidio; as well as Orlan Charles (keyboards, piano, and saxophone), Rodrigo Sperandio (Brazilian viola), and vocalists Wesley Poison, Ana Carla de Carli, Andressa Alves, Caroline Grossi, Matheus Grossi, and Francis Botene.

“Rod Rodrigues’ upcoming release, Tales of a Changing Life Part 2, represents more than just a continuation of his musical journey—it’s a deeply personal reflection of the changes he’s experienced over the past decade. After a 12-year hiatus from releasing solo work, Rodrigues returns with an instrumental album that captures a rollercoaster of emotions through complex compositions and masterful collaborations. His ability to mix diverse musical influences is evident throughout, weaving together personal experiences, Brazilian rhythms, and progressive rock.” – Prog-Sphere (2024)

“In Tales of a Changing Life Part 2, Rodrigues not only showcases his technical virtuosity but also his ability to convey deep emotion and narrative through his compositions. His work stands as a shining example of how diverse musical influences can be melded into something both experimental and accessible. This is an album that takes listeners on a transformative journey, and in doing so, solidifies Rod Rodrigues as a unique voice in contemporary progressive music.” – Prog Archy (2024)

“Following closely the work of legendary drummer John Macaluso already brought great discoveries to my proggy table, and Rod Rodrigues’ new album makes no exception here. In best instrumental prog fusion manner, he tells the “Tales of a Changing Life” with the focus on his virtuoso guitar playing, carried by challenging yet groovy rhythm patterns, cool bass lines, and some beautiful keyboard interplays. All-together a wonderful listen if you’re into instrumental wizardry. ” – The Prog Space (2024)

“Obviously, much of the spotlight here is placed on Rodrigues’ prodigious grasp of the electric guitar. Although the album’s metal-ish side doesn’t stand any bit above what we’ve already heard from that corner of prog metal, Rod makes himself out to be an absolutely brilliant fusion guitarist, possibly one of the best I’ve heard in recent years. “Dust in My Eyes” might be my favorite track on the album for this very reason; Rod’s marriage of keen instrumental wandering and tight melodic passages is gorgeous.”- Riffage (2024

“Guitar virtuoso Rod Rodrigues latest release ‘Tales of a Changing Life is a conceptual record celebrating the changes in Rod’s life that have taken place over recent years. Straight from the Satriani-Vai-Johnson line of melodic guitar shredders, Rodrigues infuses his guitar playing style with prog, metal, fusion and jazz. While only a 5 song EP, there is a lot of great guitar work in this collection with an abundance of melodies. Perhaps not as much of a household name, Rodrigues is definitely worth getting to know.” – The Prog Report (2022)

Mallorca, Spain’s renowned doom metal band Helevorn announces the “25 Years – Rooted Into Loss Tour” to celebrate their quarter of a century performing and recording doom metal since their conception in 1999. This landmark tour beginning in January 2025 will witness Helevorn sharing many fan-favorite songs from their gloomy, gothic doom catalog and supporting their fifth studio album, “Espectres” released this past September (Tour dates are listed below; more will be announced).

Helevorn – 25 Years – Rooted Into Loss Tour
Jan 25 – Kanya a Santa Climent Fest – Casal de Cultura de Sant Climent – Barcelona, Spain
Jan 31 – Utopia – Zaragoza, Spain
Feb 1 – Itaca – Torrelavega, Spain
Feb 28 – Sala X – Sevilla, Spain
March 1 – Roka Rock Voodo – Malaga, Spain

Following significant line-up changes over the past three years, Helevorn has emerged stronger and more creative than ever with their new album “Espectres”. The band enlisted the talents of Sebastià Barceló (Trallery) for drum recordings, adding a new dynamic to their sound. This album represents a slight departure from Helevorn‘s previous work, with new guitarist Alex composing 60% of the material. Fans can expect the familiar atmospheric and emotional depth Helevorn is known for, but with a rawer, more technical edge. The band shares the details behind the album:

“This album is based on Hauntology, described first by Jaques Derrida and after by the philosopher Mark Fisher. He wrote “The Ghosts of My Life”, an amazing book where he describes the ‘slow cancellation of future’, and a lot of great concepts about the specters and the absences. How they make us what we really are. Is a fantastic concept to write a Doom Metal album isn’t it?”

While still rooted in their self-coined “Mediterranean Doom” style, this album leans more heavily into pure doom and metal elements. The band promises a less epic, less folk-influenced sound, focusing instead on the core essence of doom metal. Helevorn thinks it can be an intense experience for those who want to connect something very emotional and very philosophic with dark and gloomy music.

Those with an interest in Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, and Draconian, will appreciate the art that Helevorn is creating.

“Espectres” was released on September 13, 2024, from Meuse Music Records and is available for album order (Vinyl/CD) at http://www.helevorn.com/shop | Helevornofficial.bandcamp.com

“Espectres is an album of the utmost quality that delivers a punch of moodiness, melancholy and emotion while managing to still be pretty damn heavy. It’s an album that deserves to be heard and once you listen to it, it’s going to be hard to stop repeating it over and over again.10/10″ – Games, Brrraaains & Head-Banging-Life

“Even while returning to basics and a more focused album, HELEVORN redefines their sound by discovering their true selves with “Espectres. 9/10” – Metal Temple

“It’s always amazing to hear the dark sounds that come from the sunny islands of the Mediterranean. A sound that you would expect to hear from Scandinavian bands. But that’s probably just a cliché. The bottom line is that this is a convincing Doom Metal album. Despite all the melancholy, it never gets boring. The Mallorquins attach great emphasis to variety and use atypical Metal instrumentation here and there. 8.7/10” – Metalheads Forever Magazine

“Directly from the start of the album, Helevorn make their intentions clear: to create a melancholic atmosphere for the listener to drown in. Musically speaking, “Espectres” offers us a classic gothic metal sound with references to bands like Paradise Lost, Moonspell and Tiamat. The vocals offer a balanced mix between cleans and growls, with some sporadic female input to add to the gothic atmosphere. Sometimes things get a bit more upbeat, sometimes a bit doomier, and there is even a guest contribution by Saturnus vocalist Thomas Jensen to finish the album in a rather morose fashion. All in all, Helevorn have succeeded to create a lovely album full of gloomy bliss, making “Espectres” a perfect start for the autumn season.” – The ProgSpace

“What it does is push the boundaries of the genre with subtle experimentation, emotive songwriting, and a deep understanding of the human condition. Helevorn has crafted an album that is both introspective and outwardly forceful, making it a vital listen for any fan of doom in 2024.” – Sentinel Daily

“‘Signals’, in my opinion, is the song that best defines Helevorn’s own fingerprint, by taking Melodic Death Metal, highlighting the impressive guitar solo which bring beautiful soundscapes to the song, and planting it right in the middle of the Doom Metal preponderant on “Espectres”… f you enjoy the vanguard sonority arising from Doom Metal patterns, just go for it. 9/10” – Ever Metal

“An album to seek out if a more atmospheric oriented and melancholic variety of doom metal is music you tend to enjoy.” – Viking in the Wilderness

“It is simply one of the best melodic death doom albums of the year coming from one of the best melodic death doom bands. 19 years since their debut LP and they have only gotten better with age. Their blend of melodeath and death doom is a match made for fans like myself making for some of the catchiest songs in the style without ever losing the intensity and brutality the genre entails. Match that with the dark atmosphere that doom has and you have those melodic emotions flowing through you as you listen. A spectacular display of making this style with dynamics and authenticity. Give this one a shot to see how this genre should be done.” – Heavy Debriefings

“Helevorn do not disappoint when it comes to grandiose gestures. ” Scream Blast Repeat
