Montreal industrial monsters PROJEKT F have posted a new video ‘Unbegun’ in support of their recently released EP ‘The Butterfly Effect’. The EP is their loudest release to date featuring seven pinnacle tracks for your auditory senses discussing the torrid relationship between man and God to continue their thematic discography ‘Skins’ (2013) and ‘Under The Skin’ (2014).

”We consider ‘The Butterfly Effect’ to be an extremely raw and honest EP. Early in the process of making it, we knew that we would not be making a music video for it. However, we thought it was important to give something to our fans. So we decided to make a video that would show a side of Projekt F that hasn’t been seen before. Like the EP, a raw and honest one. About:

Projekt F was founded in 2006 by Jonh M. Miller, lead singer and main composer of the band. Inspired by rock/industrial/metal music of the 90’s, Projekt F quickly made a name for themselves in the underground music scene of Montreal. Miller was joined by William Hicks (bass) in 2010, Simon Sayz (guitar) in 2013, and Fred Linx (drums) in 2014.

Their first EP named “0000” saw the light of day in 2009 with 500 physical copies made by the band being sold out in no time, and more than 1000 digital copies downloaded. Continuing to evolve in the Montreal Industrial scene, the band accumulated a large number of shows across the Province of Quebec and Ontario with their musical originality and their intensity on stage. In 2012, the band was invited to play alongside Combichrist at the biggest industrial music festival in Canada, Kinetik Festival. During the last few years they have shared the stage with international bands such as Motionless In White, Revolting Cocks, Angelspit, Nachtmar, Left Spine Down, Slaves on Dope, New Years Day, For Today and Ice Nine Kills.

Projekt F has also had the opportunity to do a performance of their song “Room 13” in a TV pilot called “Cause and Effect” (produced by Vaas Media). Their song “Oophorectomy” is also featured in a short movie called “Purple Love” (produced by Les films de la meute), featured at the 2013 Cannes Festival.

Taking a darker and more personal musical road, Projekt F launched their album “Skins” in 2013 and 2014’s EP “Under The Skin”, which is now followed by their newest EP, “The Butterfly Effect” released on March 4, 2016. It is said to be a direct sequel to their previous conceptual effort ”Skins”.

A DEVIL’S DIN is made up of 3 musicians born in the Old World who traveled across the ocean to find each other in Montreal, QC where they were drawn together by a mutual love of melodic, innovative, inventive and daring rock / metal tinged music. Fusing the colourful sounds of Syd Barrett’s Pink Floyd & the psychedelic-era Beatles with intensity of classic power bands like Sabbath, The Who, and Led Zeppelin, as well as the boundary-pushing adventure of Yes, Gentle Giant and King Crimson, A DEVIL’S DIN is an uncommon and uncompromising voice in modern music.

Debuting their album ‘One Day All This Will Be Yours’ in 2011, its been a trippy five years since fans have heard new material from the psychedelic rockers. Hitting the studio in 2014, they now return with their 2016 follow up ‘Skylight’ set for official release on June 17th to take fans on a new trip.

Vocalist / guitarist David Lines comments on the track:

“‘Nature of the Beast’ is one of the heavier tracks on our album and with a title like that, you’d expect that! But the beast in question isn’t anything out of the bible, it’s about the beast we all know and hate: bureaucracy! It sort of came to me while I was on hold with the phone company. Nature of the Beast, indeed.

Sometimes a phrase or expression is enough to get me going songwriting-wise and ‘Nature of the Beast’ was no exception. It’s a really heavy, deep, multi-layered saying. “What’s the Beast? Why is that its Nature?” Musically the song starts with an interesting rhythmic guitar chord sequence, ran through a phaser and Space Echo with haunting lead bends echoing off in the distance, creating a dark, hallucinatory setting. Then everything drops out for a fast almost chromatic guitar riff, which kicks into overdrive and busts open like a ton of bricks. Maybe it’s a bit of a formula for us, like Genus Novus and WARGASM! from the first record, but we love to start off with a spooky, trippy vibe before unleashing the heaviosity. It makes for a more interesting listening experience, at least we think so! We like the music to go places and not be so obvious. Maybe it requires more attention to get into to it, but for us, it’s way more compelling.”

Fusing the colourful sounds of Syd Barrett’s Pink Floyd & the psychedelic-era Beatles with intensity of classic power bands like Sabbath, The Who, and Led Zeppelin, as well as the boundary-pushing adventure of Yes, Gentle Giant and King Crimson, A Devil’s Din is an uncommon and uncompromising voice in modern music.

In 2008, UK-born stalwart Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist and session musician David Lines decided he needed to form a musical outfit that would suit his own particular psychedelically-induced musical visions, and thus A Devil’s Din was born. While still working as a musical “gun-for-hire” around town, he continued to develop the songs and sound for A Devil’s Din–which he considers an Art Project not to be tainted by commercial desires–recording their first album One Day All This Will Be Yours between 2009 and 2010, and releasing it on his own label Island Dive Records in 2011.

Though the musicians on that record were excellent, it wasn’t until Lyonnais bassist and disciple of the Holy Trinity of Rickenbacker Bass (John Entwistle, Chris Squire and Geddy Lee) Thomas Chollet entered the picture, along with drummer Dom Salameh (whose being born in Abu Dhabi did not at all prevent him from becoming an ardent Keith Moon devotee) that the sound really began to take shape. The synergy of the three took the music to another level, as witnessed at their intense and energetic live shows and has been made manifest on the new A Devil’s Din album SKYLIGHT that is set for release on June 17th, 2016.

A Devil’s Din continues to travel further afield in the world of psychedelic and progressive rock music, transforming listeners’ minds where ever they go.

Their first European tour will take place in September and their albums are available through various retailers on line and through their website www.ADevilsDin.com.

DOUBLE EXPERIENCE’s third studio album entitled “Unsaved Progress” was released on April 8th via their label Colfax Music. Taking the next step from their previous album – initially released exclusively on collectible trading cards, the band utilize classic video-game inspired artwork and packaging. The album was brought to life with the help of Al Jacob and Kit Walters (HE IS LEGEND) at Warrior Sound in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Prior to the creation of “Unsaved Progress”, Double Experience were busy performing across 15 countries, playing everywhere from video game museums to tattoo conventions as well as showcases at Canadian Music Week and Indie Week Canada. Their adventures have been supported by international radio, festivals and television alike, culminating with an entire nerd-rock exposé and performance on Global TV in Canada.

Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Festis a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. Sludgehammer is a five piece Canadian metal band formed in 2013. The band began with guitarist Jeff Wilson and drummer Fernando Villalobos jamming together, which quickly resulted in writing songs and searching for a full line up. Their search led to vocalist Chris Szarota, who possessed an astonishing vocal ferocity and bassist and vocalist Dan Ayers, who passed the audition as a bassist and also revealed a golden voice. Thus, the first incarnation of Sludgehammer was formed.

The four members worked hard over the next few months to put together a demo, which was released at the band’s first gig on November 22nd, 2013. The demo was well received even though it was completely self-recorded and the gig offers kept on coming, along with new fans.

With the success of the demo, the band knew that it was time to step things up and hired producer Christian Anderson for their 2014 release, ‘Organ Harvester’. During the writing sessions, the band decided that Chris and Dan should share vocal duties for this record, as Dan’s voice had been absent from the demo. The dual vocals proved to be a force to be reckoned with and on August 11th, 2014 ‘Organ Harvester’ was released to rave reviews.

‘Organ Harvester’ gained both new fans and better shows, gathering serious momentum and solid name among the metal community. However by 2015, after playing many gigs with the ‘Organ Harvester’ material it became very obvious that the fans were hungry for more. The band began writing more songs for the next release and kept playing gigs, which led them to guitarist Tyler Williams. Tyler was working as a sound man at the Atria in Oshawa, ON where Sludgehammer was playing, and after their performance, Tyler approached the band. They set up a jam and in July 2015, Tyler Williams joined Sludgehammer.

The new five piece line up produced a much fuller sound as Jeff and Tyler began working together. The old songs were given new life and badass new material was being written for their next release, titled ‘The Fallen Sun’. The new songs featured dynamic vocal performances from Dan and Chris, mind bending guitar solos, heavy riffs and blistering drumming. As the songs started to pile up, Sludgehammer discussed recording a full length album. Tyler suggested that they record at his studio, Monolithic Productions. The band set up shop there and are now ready to unleash ‘The Fallen Sun’ for release on June 10, 2016.

Vancouver-based Without Mercy certainly stays true to its name. Ruthless and menacing, these Canadian metal titans have cultivated and redefined the phrase, “Fuck Pussy Metal”.

Founded in 2004, Without Mercy has gone from strength to strength over the years. They released their first EP “All Else Fails” in 2007 completely independently and used its humble beginnings to start the catapulting of performances, internet presence and radio play. In 2009, Without Mercy went on to record their self-titled full length album using the same team that worked on records by Devin Townsend, Mudvayne, and Marilyn Manson. Without Mercy rode the attention wave of their self-titled debut, using the escalation to begin a relentless performance schedule that would lead them far from their hometown and include over 200 live performances. No stranger to tenacity, in only a few short years Without Mercy have achieved; being the only indie metal band in Western Canada to have two tracks available on Rock Band 3, being featured in Tattoo Savage Magazine, and pioneering the phrases, ‘You Smell Like A Bitch’ and ‘Fuck Pussy Metal’ – which have now become synonymous with the band.

In 2014, Without Mercy unleashed third studio release, “Reborn”. Another massive evolution for the band, Without Mercy sought to bring back the organic metal sound and combine it with a high production standard. Fast forward to 2016, some line up changes with a new vocalist and bassist, the band is ready to share with fans re-recorded material from ‘Reborn’ on their new EP ‘Mouichido’ that even features Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter on their track ‘In Waves’. For the past 6 years, Ontario-dwelling black metal doom fusionists VOW OF THORNS have been conceptualizing albums and pushing the boundary between aggressive and emotional. What once served as an anagram for Kevin Hawthorne’s solo work is now a joint effort with Dustin Richards, where the duo has quickly become one of the most intimidating musical ventures to date. The duo have been constructing songs unanimously and without interruption in a seamless writing process to craft work fueled by their musical and environmental influences. Their new album ‘Farewell To The Sun’ is set for release on July 15, 2016 to follow the 2013 debut EP ‘Forest Dweller’.
