NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 6, 2017

For fans of Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Windir, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Kalmah, Wintersun

NORDHEIM To Play Festival D’Ete De Quebec July 12th

Launch Indiegogo For “RapThor”, An Album About Bacon And Dinosaurs

Influenced by bands such as Finntroll, Ensiferum, Kalmah and Wintersun, Quebec City folk metal NORDHEIM will be performing at this year’s Festival D’Ete De Quebec concert series alongside Trollwar at Bar L’Anti on July 12th (full event details can be found here). The Québec City Summer Festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is Canada’s largest outdoor music festival event with 300 shows, 10 stages and 11 days of music from July 6 to 16, 2017. For more info please visit http://infofestival.com.

The band comments:
“We are very pleased to be a part of FEQ’s 50th anniversary. It’s awesome to share the stage with all the great artists performing this year. We’re gonna give the FEQ crowd a metal party that they won’t forget!”

In additional news, NORDHEIM have launched an indiegogo campaign for their forthcoming album entitled “RapThor” to follow their two previous releases “Refill” (2013) and debut “Lost In The North” (2011). Featuring eight tracks with titles such as “Troll Riding A Raptor”, “Boobs And Bacon” and “Dragonthorn”, this third studio recording is dedicated to the epic flavour of bacon, the colossus power of dinosaurs and more.

The band comments:

“‘We want to give the fans one of the heaviest and nastiest folk metal albums to date with ‘RapThor’. It is different from our first two. We had great feedback when we played the songs live. This album is the heaviest of them all while cutting back on the European folklore influences. It’s the result of our hard work over the last few years. It is super-heavy party music!”

NORDHEIM are offering various perks and bundles through their Indiegogo campaign to meet their goal of $3,500 for “RapThor”, which can be found at the following link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rapthor-metal#/

The band has also posted a video message for the campaign at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reFUtNY1K5U

NORDHEIM is:
Warraxe – Guitars, Vocals
Benfok – Bass, Vocals
Fred – Lead Guitars

About:

So many bands make listeners choke from their sheer delusional pretentions of grandeur. Not Nordheim, their philosophy is simply to make fun folk metal, as can be evidenced by titles such as ‘Boobs and Bacon’ and ‘I Wish You Were A Beer’!

Inspired by Wintersun, Windir, Finntroll, Equillbrium, and Carcass, guitarist and singer, and main songwriter Warraxe describes Nordheim’s sound as ‘fast, heavy, festive, cold, and catchy!’

Warraxe explains that Nordheim are truly a band of brothers. ‘We are a bunch of guys from Bellechasse, a small region south of the St-Laurent River in the province of Quebec. We were long-time friends and have metal as a common passion, one thing leads to another and we started a band.’

Live Nordheim really show their sense of fun. “When we play live it’s a frickin’ party! We move a lot, scream, hump the air, we drink from the fans’ beer bottles and in turn, we feed them beer, with the help of our friends and roadies coming up on stage and pouring beer in their faces. Usually between songs I’ll be making jokes about anything I can think of, as long as it’s dumb and incoherent! We have a strong sense of ‘bro-ness’ with our fans!”

About:

Striker is an Edmonton-based recording and performing heavy metal band that has grown immensely through their years in the industry. A classic mix of heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, their music features powerful, clean vocals, catchy choruses, vocal harmonies, and impressive guitar leads.

Audiences are often floored by the energy of their live show, and their recorded material has been met with fantastic response by both fans and industry across the world. Striker has toured across dozens of countries as headliners as well as support for major metal acts. Gearing up for the release of their latest album the sky’s the limit for these Canadians!!

– 30 –

“Striker gush with so much enthusiasm here, with explosive riffs swirling between the vibrant harmonies and choruses, that it’s hard not to notice…Tracks like “Former Glory” and “Born to Lose” are anthemic, catchy as hell and feature soaring vocals from Dan Cleary and terrific guitar work by Tim Brown…On Striker, the band take a host of influences and hone them into a sound they can call their own.” – Exclaim!

“From the first storm-summoning power chord on the opener Former Glory, Striker (CAN) proves their new album’s initial claim of not dwelling on the past, a high and appropriate cry of “Yeah, I’m back again!”… If you haven’t witnessed this inspiring resurrection of classic metal, the band plays Friday, April 14 at Starlite with Ravenous and Tylor Dory Trio, no doubt sharpened from the faithful overseas audiences.” – Edmonton Journal

“When a band releases an eponymous album it’s a statement of intent, a sign of confidence, everything being as it should be. For make no mistake, Striker are a special band. As the old Metal Gods ascend to Valhalla, new gods will arise. This is Striker’s fifth album and it’s just timeless. Not retro, not looking back, but taking everything that’s uplifting and glorious about heavy metal into 2017 and beyond…this album has to be in every writer and fan’s top ten at the end of 2017.” – Hellbound

“A less balls out, more aggressive record than its predecessor, STRIKER delivers another impressive collection of high energy headbangers….Regardless of what your heavy metal predilections may be, STRIKER offers something for everyone. Super catchy tunes dripping with shred gymnastics and all around technical prowess, Striker deserves a place on any metal fan’s playlist….If you have not experienced Striker yet, this album is a worthy place to start and should appeal to a wide range of fans, particularly followers of the Priest, Anthrax and Maiden.” – Metal Rules

Montreal, QC – June 28, 2017

DIVINITY Posts More Lyric Videos “Distorted Mesh” & “PsyWar”

New Album Out Now “The Immortalist”

Calgary, AB progressive death metal band DIVINITY have posted more lyric videos in support of their new album “The Immortalist” that was unleashed on May 26th.

The band comments on the tracks:

“PsyWar: This was a song that had a concept before the music was written.  We knew we needed to create a groovy song with a real sinister message.  Once the main riff was written, the rest wrote itself.  I am very proud of the final song as it relays the message that we all live in a world of psychological warfare where the elite rulers have fabricated a narrative that we have come to accept as normal.  Through media and mainstream news, they have convinced us of all kinds of false beliefs, and they have found a way to get their wars and their ways of normalizing violence and all the terrible things that would normally be completely unacceptable.  We have been fully and completely brainwashed to accept atrocities and lies, as truth.  Now that we are so conditioned to accept this as normal, we won’t question authority, meaning they can do whatever it is they want, without a backlash from the public.

Distorted Mesh: This song started as a riff of Sean’s, which I took and spiced up and sped up.  The song concept was loosely inspired by the movie “Insidious”, where the demon lives in the underworld and emerges only to find his victims, and take them into the other world to torture.  Our current world is a very scary place these days, where lies and distortions of the truth are the new norm.  We are all connected to each other in this madness, but the things that connect us are distorted and manipulated by evil entities who have succeeded in making us thoughtless slaves.  There is no way out of this nightmare that is our modern world’s reality.”

This album also features Bjorn ‘Speed’ Strid of Soilwork on vocals for the song ‘D.M.T.’.

About:

Divinity, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, started in 1997 and began playing live shows in 1999. In 2001, the band released its first EP album called “Intensify” which received a lot of local (Canadian) praise after sending in a couple songs to BWBK’s ‘Knuckletrack’ CD sampler. A music video was released for the song “World of Pain” in 2003 and the band played local shows building its show experience.

Fast forward to 2007, Divinity independently releases their first full-length album called “Allegory” and is picked up by Nuclear Blast Records just 3 months after the independent release. Obviously, this was a major turning point for the band!

In 2008, Divinity took on its first major tour by joining the Summer Slaughter Canada tour. This gave them the opportunity to connect to high-calibre booking agents and other acts such as Dying Fetus, Whitechapel, and Necrophagist.

In 2009, Divinity spent it’s time creating their 2nd full-length album, called “The Singularity” which was released under Candlelight Records with a very positive response from numerous reviewers and listeners.

Since the release of The Singularity, Divinity has toured Canada numerous times over and has received massive support and praise from around the world.

The band is currently releasing a trilogy EP concept album now turned into a full-length LP, called ‘The Immortalist’ available May 26th, 2017 at all digital music stores and as a special limited run CD Digipak.

“Divinity are an insanely talented band who’ve just released an amazing album that just isn’t getting the attention it deserves. I was listening to the full album yesterday on my iPod… and “fucking wow” is still about all I can come up with. It’s complex, it’s progressive, it’s deep, it’s brutal, it’s shreddy, it’s hooky, it’s artsy… it’s everything you (I) want a metal record to be. Every musician in the band is top-notch, including vocalist Sean Jenkins with whom I’m especially impressed (this from a guy who ordinarily doesn’t focus on vocals).” – Metalsucks.net

“Canada’s metal wizards Divinity have just released a vibrant, explosive video for “Lay In The Bed You’ve Made,” from the band’s Candlelight Records debut The Singularity.” – Guitar World

“DIVINITY: F*CKING WOW…Divinity definitely make my balls quiver.” – Metalsucks.net

“Technical death metal fans will find Divinity to be a hybrid of several genres that all have a hand in formulating the band’s sonic reverence. From soft piano to sky-raising clean vocals, every attempt is made to show that monotony and predictability is not in Divinity’s DNA.” – Metal Underground

“Divinity is easily among Canada’s elite bands (along with Into Eternity for example) that have that the new ‘Western Canadian’ sound that morphs Death, Thrash, Prog and crazy chops into one sweet package.” – Metal-Rules

Incorporating jackhammer drums, bulldozing bass-lines, a twin-lead attack that leaves posers pulped in its wake and vocals that can level mountains, TERRIFIER will be performing a demolishing set on day two of this year’s Armstrong MetalFest alongside headliners Revocation, Aggression and more. The two day metal festival is being held on July 14th and 15th in Armstrong, BC at the Hassen Arena. Full fest details can be found at http://armstrongmetalfest.ca.

TERRIFIER vocalist Chase Thibodeau comments:

“Weapons Of Thrash Destruction is relentless from start to finish.” – Bravewords

“The Canadian quintet Terrifier knows full well what its strengths are and it plays to them in spades on the wonderfully titled Weapons of Thrash Destruction…This is a fine thrash record. Should make for a fun concert, too.” – The Vancouver Sun

“Terrifier proudly delivers a true-to-form tribute to the genre that thoroughly kicked the ass of the 1980s: thrash…It’s clear, metal music is not dead. Lurking in the shadows of the music industry are new artists like Terrifier, mastering their crafts, looking to flip the industry on its head. Weapons of Thrash Destruction is an impressive effort, explosively blending classic tricks with a modern, fresh feel.” – Beatroute BC

“Strike in the name of old school Metal, kneel before the gods of Metal that brought you the best music ever played in stereo, hail the insanity delivered by fast paced riffing and unholy melodic rhythms.” – Metal Temple

“The music is fast and tight, the riffs are complex and fun, the production, solos, and vocals are all spot-on, and there’s plenty of humor to boot. In other words, everything one should want from a thrash album is on Weapons of Thrash Destruction.” – Angry Metal Guy

“an old school thrash cocktail designed to blow a hole right through the bulkhead.” – Amps and Green Screens

“This album (Weapons of Thrash Destruction) is straight up unapologetic thrash! Love the album.” – CJSF – Metal Meltdown

When we sent him the rough demo of the song along with our lyrics and he sent back amazing vocal tracks within a few days that didn’t even need any edits. We were blown away with his abilities and could not be happier with how it turned out! We also got word from Bjorn that he thinks it sounds fantastic too!”

The band comments:

“It has been a couple of years since we’ve toured within our home country as we’ve primarily focused our efforts overseas since our formation in 2014.  Needless to say, we’re super stoked for this summer adventure across this giant beauty of a country in support of our newest record Eidolon. We were actually just fresh back from our showcase at Roadburn 2017 (with the likes of Baroness and Chelsea Wolfe) and thought, there’s really no better Canadian band and dudes to do a Canadian tour with than our old buds in Flying Fortress – and luckily the stars have aligned in our favour.”

In their three years as an active touring band ZAUM have amassed 200+ shows (mainly international) under their belts including support stints for Voivod, Pentagram, and Cauldron.

ZAUM is a passage toward the dark realizations of the old world; a monolithic doomy mantra based meditative experience forged by bass and drums interwoven with sitar, woodwind, string and synth textures. Based in New Brunswick, Canada – observers experience a tranquil resonance whereby the astral and physical planes can co-exist and be understood from a natural perspective.

“ZAUM blends several moods into a really attractive, cohesive work that not only pays off, but also distances them from Om, creating for themselves a sphere of their own.”  -Sputnik Music

“a new level of headphone-ready, open-consciousness expanse.  Nothing matters. Give up your expectations. Quit your job and move to the forest.  Build a temple by a river and spend your days naming the gods who live in the trees around you.” -The Obelisk

“Their sound encompasses the enormity of the likes of Sleep and Om, yet works in a mysticism that’s haunting and ethereal. The 40 minute span of this release is a sitar driven daydream that carries the gravitational force of tectonic plates shifting.” -Iron Fist

“Hold onto your bong, ponder those scraps of eastern philosophy you’ve picked up watching Kung Fu films from the 1970s, and prepare to escape from Samsara.” -Ave Noctum

“Consists of dread and a haunting sensation to glimmers of hope, but mostly dreadful darkness.  ZAUM cast their own dark shadow, one I don’t mind being consumed by.” – Bucketlist Music Review (10/10)

“Few bands can touch the New Brunswick doom duo in terms of sheer hypnotic atmosphere. Eidolon sees them go further down their singular path into the heavy unknown. Prepare to be transported to a higher realm.” -The Sludgelord

“Simply put, ZAUM is an 11/10. To my fellow people: go home and lay down.”- Don L’Orange, -Weird Canada
