A true spectacle to be witnessed, Lords of the Trident is a daring adventure metal quintet that has been delighting their audiences and fans all over the world for ten years. To continue on their epic quest of bringing spectacular and entertaining metal to global fans their current aim is to release their 7th album “Shadows from the Past” later in 2018 with the support of a kickstarter campaign that goes live June 1st. Rewards include merch, video games, lessons from band members, festival tickets, and private concerts.

With a lengthy history of enchanting fans with outrageous theatrical events with plenty of crowd participation, Lords of the Trident have donned their cloaks and armor to lay the groundwork for their most enthusiastic sojourn yet.

Fang VonWrathenstein shares his excitement:

“This album is our most ambitious musical work to date, and the first album with our new members Baron Helleshaar and Master Herc. Fans who have been with us for a while will notice that our new songs are a bit more complex, and our songwriting continues to mature. The new songs are definitely still Lords songs, but explore some new musical themes. I believe the new album will be our strongest offering yet, and contain some songs that are sure to be fan favorites going forward.”

The band has partnered with the video game Coffee Crisis in which they will be featured in as NPCs (non-playable characters) and will provide a song for one of the levels. The kickstarter goes live June 1 and will run for the period of a month with a financial goal of $6000 USD. In return the band offers supporters a wide variety of band merch, copies of Coffee Crisis, private music lessons with band members, private concerts, and tickets to Mad With Power festival in Madison, Wisconsin. The album will be released digitally and on physical CD on Friday, August 24th along with it being performed for the first time ever the following day at Mad With Power festival on Saturday, August 25th. Fans that support Lords of the Trident through Patreon will have access to exclusive rewards tiers.

BIO:

Since climbing out of a volcano in 2008, shrouded in metal and ash, Lords of the Trident have gone to battle on many stages across the USA, playing and headlining a plethora of festivals and have an admirable arsenal of recordings in their inventory. The Lords of The Trident have released three full albums: “Death or Sandwich” (2009), “Chains on Fire” (2011), “Frostburn” (2015) , three EPs: “Plan of Attack” (2013), “A Very Lords of the Trident Christmas” (2014), “Re:Quests” (2015), and two live DVDs, along with numerous compilation singles.

Their live shows include medieval costumes, pyrotechnics, confetti cannons, guitars set ablaze, and of course, excellent technical musicianship that challenges the standard for how live music should be experienced. Unleashing their eighth and latest release “Daño Colateral” digitally this past April, Mexican thrashers CENTAURO announce they will be making the new album available on CD as of June 30, 2018 through Bandcamp and distributor Ablaze Productions. This is CENTAURO‘s third full-length adding to their existing repertoire of well worked classic thrash intertwined with hearty samples of elements from several metal sub-genres, most notably black and death, resulting in a recognizable, deep and unique sound.

“Daño Colateral” is a concept album focused on the turbulent story of a person that was born into awful situations and throughout their life, continues to experience numerous setbacks even through effort and good will; a subjective message to decadence of society and modern system thoughts.

Drummer Mario Rivera further explains:

“The album is a story about a person that has been born from rape, that’s why this newborn is unwanted; So he and his brother work their way through the struggles of life until his brother dies. He gets angry with life and his resentment burns until he gets into prison for vandalism. In prison, he learns how to be a real criminal, and when he is released, he begins a path of violent crimes and killing until his madness makes him commit suicide.”

The band purposely takes the listener through torrid moments to create atmospheres of deep anxiety, fear, anger, joy and depression. It’s a journey through emotions that evolve from one to another. This intense story that can be both heart wrenching and uplifting can be heard in full stream and downloaded on Spotify, Bandcamp, Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play.

BIO:

In the heat of the summer of 2009, Mexican thrash metal band Centauro was born. Hailing from Culiacán, Sinaloa, they took their name from famous Mexican revolutionary fighter Doroteo Arango (Pancho Villa) a.k.a. “El Centauro del Norte”.

Mario Rivera (drums) delves into the origin of the band’s name,“We were kind of tired of a majority bands in our country having names mainly in English with some of them not even translating correctly. Coming from Mexico we really wanted our band’s name in our mother tongue to represent our culture and history. We wanted truly Mexican inspired metal, not everything to be about Vikings, runes, occultism and demons.”

Focusing on creating original trash infused metal they have found recognition both locally and abroad. Over the course of nine years they have unleashed eight releases, 2 EPS (Enraizados – 2010, Oligarquía – 2014), a demo (Vía Agresión – 2011) and 3 full lengths (Devastación Total – 2013, Ciénagas Del Engaño – 2015, Daño Colateral – 2018). Their sound is well worked classic thrash intertwined with a hearty sample of elements from several metal subgenres, most notably, black and death, creating a recognizable, deep and unique sound.

Staying true to their roots, they write lyrics exclusively in Spanish broaching themes including politics, religion, lust, laziness, misery, death, joy and criticism of society. This fresh take on thrash metal can be described as aggressive, melodic, and unique. The band brings a contagious energy to the stage putting emphasis on having fun and interacting with the crowd while playing quality music.

Centauro’s latest album “Daño Colateral” was released digitally April 21, 2018 on Spotify, Bandcamp, Amazon, iTunes, Google Play and will be available on CD as June 30, 2018.

From there we came up with the concept of an EP with a bunch of forced acronym titles. The EP itself was written somewhat conceptually with the individual songs being very short thrash songs that come together to make one longer progressive thrash track, which harkens back to the title since we don’t even know what it is!”

Named after a glacier in Nunavut, Canada, SAATE‘s sound is heavy, fresh and modern with a traditional metal feeling. Wacken Metal Battle USA is proud to announce the 2018 American champion California’s VOICES OF RUIN. From over 50 competing bands in this year’s qualifying battles, VOICES OF RUIN along with Philadelphia’s EYES OF THE LIVING and Florida’s WITHERING EARTH shared the stage in the top 3 national final hosted in Los Angeles this past weekend on May 26th at The Viper Room. Judged on various criteria by metal industry representatives Marco Barbieri (M-Theory Audio), Lloyd Grant (Metallica) and Bill Metoyer (Producer – Slayer/Bitch), VOICES OF RUIN unleashed an assault worthy to be selected and to perform at Wacken Open Air. VOICES OF RUIN will now headbang on Wacken Open Air‘s Wet Stage for the festival’s global competition of independent metal bands for a chance to be crowned the international champion along with winning multiple prizes from the organization and their partners (prizes info). Wacken Open Air, the world’s largest outdoor metal festival will be taking place from August 2nd – 4th in Wacken, Germany.

“This year’s American battles witnessed Wacken Metal Battle USA’s expansion to more cities, more bands and more metal! I’m always excited to see who will be the king of the ring from all the bands participating. We’re looking forward to next year and sending more independent American metal to Wacken!”

During the months of March and April over 50 bands competed in Wacken Metal Battle USA qualifying rounds hosted in Los Angeles, San Diego, Philadelphia, Orlando and Tampa Bay. Full list of participating bands can be found at www.metalbattleusa.com.

The 2017 battles saw the best from the Philadelphia and Boston areas, Corpse Hoarder, Goblet, Power Theory, and Upheaval perform in the national final. Crowned champion was Philadelphia’s Corpse Hoarder whom performed a furious set at Wacken Open Air.

Wacken Metal Battle USA is part of an international competition that sees bands from across the country battle each other for the chance of winning their spot among 29 other countries’ champions, and representing the USA in an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival: Wacken Open Air, which has been taking place in Wacken, Germany for the last 28 years. The winner of Wacken Metal Battle USA will perform at the 2018 festival taking place from August 2nd – 4th.

How it works:

Participating cities will host qualifying rounds plus a city final organized by a local city concert promoter where one band will move forward to the American national final in Los Angeles on May 26th, 2018. The winner of the national final will move on to perform at the 29th edition of Wacken Open Air, and compete against the winners of 29 other countries in a final global battle. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry representatives.

Ontario’s HATRED REIGNS unleash to the metal world their debut EP “Realm: I – Affliction” out now as of May 25th.

This 3 song EP takes songs from their future full-length concept album that recants the travels of a damned soul to purgatory where their fate will be determined as they face numerous challenges along the way.

Guitarist Jeff Calder explains the writing and inspiration for the album:

“Lyrics were written by Brandon Mayhew (guitarist) and me. The concept was inspired by Dante’s Inferno and movie ‘What Dreams May Come’ (the book is not as similar to the film) while giving our own twist and personal interests on the theme.”

So far through private listening parties, the EP has been well received by fans across metal sub-genres and the band is very excited to show off the final product, especially live and on CD, which is why the band will be celebrating its physical release on May 27th supporting the Indiemerch Devastation On The Nation Tour in Ottawa with Aborted, Psycroptic, Ingested, Disentomb, Arkaik, Venom Prison and Vale of Pnath (info here).

“Realm” I – Affliction” was recorded, mixed and mastered by Dark Moon Productions and drums were engineered by Geoff McNeely & Joe “Moon” Lyko at Raven Street Studios.

Hailing from the Ottawa/Gatineau Capital Region of Ontario, the five members of Hatred Reigns compose original brutal music and have been taking the local scene by storm. Fusing both old school death metal and new school tech elements, each song they create is unique and full of beastly hammered drums, brutal aggressive guitars, sonic booming bass, and demonic vocals appealing to a diverse audience.

Looking to develop a new project with big ambitious goals to create a concept album Hatred Reigns was founded in 2015 by Jeff Calder, (guitarist, and conceptual artist). They performed their inaugural performance in 2017 to a sold out crowd and thus very high standards were established and word spread to promoters in other cities of their performance.

Switzerland’s Majesty of Silence was founded in the spring of 1996 by Peter Papadimitriya (drums), Peter Mahler (guitar) and Christian Geissmann (first bass, then guitar) who shared a passion for black metal. Citing a wide variety of influences including Dimmu Borgir, Immortal and Sonata Arctica the band affirms “Silence differs from absent noise and that it’s obvious that this is no mass music.” After releasing three albums, “Darkness Has No End”(1999), “But There’s a Light”(2003) and “Lichtsille”(2006) and going on to play many well-received shows the band went on hiatus in 2010. Revived in 2016 Peter Mahler and Christian Geissmann continue the band as a two man project.

Italian death metal tyrants DYING AWKWARD ANGEL have posted a new lyric video “Maldita Seas” in support of their new full length “Absence of Light” out now as of May 25th via Rockshots Records.

Initially formed two decades ago in Turin, Italy, DYING AWKWARD ANGEL are a total testament to the strength and convictions of true metallers. Enduring line-up changes and travails that would have crushed a lesser band, DYING AWKWARD ANGEL refused to die…instead they have thrived!

Inspired by In Flames, At The Gates, Carcass, Dark Tranquillity, in 2013, DYING AWKWARD ANGEL unleashed their debut full length album ‘Waiting For Punishment’, following it in 2016 with a well-received EP entitled ‘Madness Rising’. Now in 2018, the band’s current line up with founding member Edoardo Demuro on guitar, Luca Pellegrino on drums, Lorenzo Asselli on guitars, David Onidaon on bass and Michael Spallieri on vocals release their next full length “Absence of Light”.

“We started with the only goal of destroying everything…Over the years we have been working to achieve a more solid and understandable sound. Formed in 2010, KANSEIL are a 21st century version of their land’s rich-story telling tapestry, they are bards with instruments, musical archaeologists, excavating the sounds and stories of their country’s past to create something new, beguiling and beautiful.

“Savage Gods” follows SONIC PROPHECY‘s 2015 sophomore release “Apocalyptic Promenade” (Maple Metal Records), an album that combined the melody and beauty of symphonic power metal while maintaining the crunch, drive and power of traditional metal plus their 2011 debut “A Divine Act of War”, which had its music placed in the television series “Rock n’ Lock”, the video game “Volgarr the Viking” and movie Danny Trejo’s “Vengeance”.

This latest album “Savage Gods” lyrically covers many topics, from quests and medieval wars, to mechanized genocide, to the dangers associated with extremist ideologies. Broadening and stretching their musical palate, “Savage Gods” will give fans an adventurous listening experience.
