Rockshots Records: Spain’s Progressive Metal Sensation NORTH of SOUTH New Music Video “Nobody Knows”

Debut Album “New Latitudes” Out Sept 28th

Following his introduction to the metal community with his first single / lyric video “The Human Equation”, Spain’s progressive one man solo project North of South by Chechu Nos takes another step forward towards the worldwide release of his debut album “New Latitudes” due out on September 28th via Rockshots Records.

In advance of his first full-length, North of South is sharing with fans the latest music video “Nobody Knows” directed by Hristijan Konesky.

Watch it now at the following link: https://youtu.be/fvRvxaH1aAE

Rooted in León, Spain, North of South is a complex-categorizing band, deeply interested in crossbreeding different music styles such as Jazz, Death, Pop and Latin influences with a solid base of progressive metal.

The album’s lyrics contain a strong literary, philosophic and existentialist essence, influenced by authors like Jorge Luis Borges, William Shakespeare and Orson Scott Card, among others, as well as topics like the human condition and its limits facing the Universe, our emotions and personal contradictions and the mysteries of time.

“New Latitudes” was recorded at Zoilo Unreal’s studios in Marín, Spain, a renowned studio in the Spanish extreme metal scene that has worked with bands such as Unreal Overflows, The Anthagonist and Unhuman Nature.

NEWS RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – September 14, 2018

For fans of Gojira, Amon Amarth, Children Of Bodom, Death, Revocation

Out Now! OMINOUS ECLIPSE Streaming New Album “Sinister”

L-R- James Close (Guitar/Vocal), Graham Murphy (Guitar/Vocal), Ryan Clements (Bass), Jeremiah Marshall (Drums) – Photo Credit: Max Southwood

Drawing their inspiration from a wide variety of genres, OMINOUS ECLIPSE is a brutal quartet that create a unique hybrid sound with death metal being the main aspect combined with elements of thrash, groove, black, melodic, etc. Unleashing their sophomore album “Sinister” officially this Friday, September 14th, the band is now streaming it in full at the following link: https://youtu.be/PWKEeTguj-w

The band comments:

“There’s no concept or theme on this album so all the songs have different meaning. The title track itself divulges into the inevitable end to humanity and potentially the world with it. It discusses the issues around the globe and also addresses the ignorance and selfishness of those indirectly affected by the chaos. It has a strong “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” theme in regards to how people can turn their backs on those in need in order to save their own skin, which ironically will lead to our end as it causes people to turn on each other. Musically for this album, you will notice we have evolved from the first release and have moved away from thrashy overtones to become more diverse including more heavily stated melodic and technical with a solid groove and death foundation.”

The album follows their 2015 debut full length “End Of Days” and EP “Beyond The Apocalypse” released that same year. Active since 2014, OMINOUS ECLIPSE is a very ambitious band passionate about writing and playing extreme music. They have already shared the stage with the likes of Revocation, The Agonist, Kalmah, Archspire, Incantation, Vesperia, Beyond Creation, Rivers of Nihil to name a few. Their Ottawa CD release show for “Sinister” will be held on October 6th at House of Targ with local support from Lord Almighty, Infrared, Scepter. Event info here.

Music video for the album’s title track at https://youtu.be/ZkCr2u_wHfs

Album download and stream available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Spotify.

Track Listing:
1. Death By Dissection (6:13)
2. Sinister (5:00)
3. Spiral Into Insanity (4:16)
4. Lost At Sea (8:02)
5. No Redemption For The Damned (6:43)
6. Breaking The Chains (5:50)
7. The Horde (7:25)

“Their new song “Spiral Into Insanity” has a strong death metal foundation, including very melodic leads, but there’s more than enough groovy thrash inspiration and even a hint of black metal there. ” – Decibel Magazine

“a game changing release for Ominous Eclipse that places them center stage for my pick of the best Canadian Metal release this year….Every track stands strongly on its own, thanks to the band’s immense talent and flawless production. Ominous Eclipse is a band that carries the banner for the N.W.O.C.D.M. with pride and distinction. Out September 14th on all streaming platforms, I would recommend Sinister to fans of Death, Iron Maiden, Infernal Majesty and Gojira.” – Hellbound

“Demonstrating their ability to blend genres within metal to create a compelling album, this is an impressive sophomore delivery. Each track brings something different and feels refreshing even after multiple listens.” – Splice Magazine

“‘Sinister’ is a high-energy track launched by heartless riff jabs, ear-scouring string squeals, and neck-snapping drumwork. The vocals come for your throat, too, in an effusion of heartless roars and face-scraping shrieks, and the song is accented by flurries of spidery, darting fretwork and by a pair of flashy, fluid, but demented solos. It becomes a thrashing gallop, but without becoming any less venomous in its delivery.” – No Clean Singing

“The crowd was stellar at Mavericks, where each of the four bands were well represented by their fan bases. Opening on the night were Ominous Eclipse, whose chunky, frantic thrash metal din was led by their howling frontman. Largely drawing from their 2015 album End of Days, the four-piece pounded through six songs, tackling tracks like “Pestilence,” Abandoned” and the album’s particularly solid title track. Helping to limber the crowd for the chaos to come, they called for a “wall of death” in the confines of the club and the fans delivered, clearing the centre of the floor before the opposing sides barrelled into one another, bodies flying everywhere.” – Exclaim! (Live Review opening for Kalmah April 2016)

Champions in blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Canadian shredders STRIKER will be unleashing their sixth studio album “Play To Win” on October 26th via their independent label Record Breaking Records. The album features 10 fist pounding shredtacular anthems produced by the band plus mixed and mastered by Hendrik Udd (Firewind, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, Delain). The album follows their 2017 self-titled full length that the band supported with tours across Europe and North America with Sonata Arctica, Dark Tranquility, and Warbringer along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany) and more to add to their almost 1000 shows performed in their decade plus career. That fifth studio album also garnered them a nomination from Canada’s JUNO awards, the country’s highest music prize, along with wins at the Edmonton Music Awards and Western Canadian Awards.

In support of the release of “Play To Win”, STRIKER announce they will be touring Europe this coming November for the co-headline “Maple Meltdown Tour” with SKULL FIST to follow their North American tour with Unleash The Archers and Helion Prime that is currently in progress (all dates listed below).

STRIKER‘s new lyric video for their first single “Heart of Lies” can be watched here plus available for stream on Spotify. Digital album pre-order on iTunes.

Guitarist Tim Brown comments on “Play To Win”:“Play to Win: if you want to win you have to play the game. Find the rules and break them. This is our 6th album and 3rd independent release. If we followed the rules and listened to the industry people we’d have gone absolutely nowhere. Play To Win is about listening to yourself, following your own path, and playing that 5th ace hidden in your sleeve. This album is designed to light a fire under your ass and get you moving, and we made sure to get the most modern, ear melting sounds possible. It’s all about where metal is going, not where it has been, and this is our soundtrack to success.”

“Striker gush with so much enthusiasm here, with explosive riffs swirling between the vibrant harmonies and choruses, that it’s hard not to notice…Tracks like “Former Glory” and “Born to Lose” are anthemic, catchy as hell and feature soaring vocals from Dan Cleary and terrific guitar work by Tim Brown…On Striker, the band take a host of influences and hone them into a sound they can call their own.” – Exclaim!

“From the first storm-summoning power chord on the opener Former Glory, Striker (CAN) proves their new album’s initial claim of not dwelling on the past, a high and appropriate cry of “Yeah, I’m back again!”… If you haven’t witnessed this inspiring resurrection of classic metal, the band plays Friday, April 14 at Starlite with Ravenous and Tylor Dory Trio, no doubt sharpened from the faithful overseas audiences.” – Edmonton Journal

“When a band releases an eponymous album it’s a statement of intent, a sign of confidence, everything being as it should be. For make no mistake, Striker are a special band. As the old Metal Gods ascend to Valhalla, new gods will arise. This is Striker’s fifth album and it’s just timeless. Not retro, not looking back, but taking everything that’s uplifting and glorious about heavy metal into 2017 and beyond…this album has to be in every writer and fan’s top ten at the end of 2017.” – Hellbound

“A less balls out, more aggressive record than its predecessor, STRIKER delivers another impressive collection of high energy headbangers….Regardless of what your heavy metal predilections may be, STRIKER offers something for everyone. Super catchy tunes dripping with shred gymnastics and all around technical prowess, Striker deserves a place on any metal fan’s playlist….If you have not experienced Striker yet, this album is a worthy place to start and should appeal to a wide range of fans, particularly followers of the Priest, Anthrax and Maiden.” – Metal Rules

From the rocky shores of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, HITMAN have been conjuring up their next EP “The Offering: Side 1” set to be released on September 14th, 2018. This will be the third EP from the whisky infused, stoner groove rock quartet and it is sure to be a hit among a wide range of listeners who are currently fans of Black Sabbath, Pantera and Sleep. Offering a sound that is familiar to the genre, but still refreshing and creative, HITMAN is poised to continue proving why they are one of Canada’s best up and coming acts. The band has been gaining notoriety by playing hundreds of gigs over the years and sharing the stage with the likes of Sum 41, New Found Glory, Silverstein, Metalian, Zaum, Skull Fist, The Agonist, Black Wizard, Diemonds, and Black Moor plus they were once endorsed by Rob Halford of Judas Priest when he wore a Hitman T-shirt onstage during a performance in Halifax in 2015.

Created for fans looking to hear sweet riffs, well thought out melodies and an overall groovy sound, “The Offering: Side 1” has fast songs, slow songs and embraces different lyrical themes throughout.

Teaming up with DoomandStoned.com, HITMAN is premiering the EP’s full stream at the following link: https://doomedandstoned.com/post/178010195558/hitman

“We are extremely excited and proud to be releasing “The Offering: Side 1!” We’ve poured our heart, souls (and wallets) into this project and along with our amazing studio team are excited to bring you the first EP that feels truly representative of our band. We’re a stoner band that drinks too much and loves to party. Basically we just want fans to enjoy the music and live shows as much as we enjoy making the tunes and performing.” says drummer Sylvain Coderre.

“However, what they’d rather impart upon you is their love for adult beverages. Given Decibel’s and Hitman’s mutual love of suds (rumour has it there’s a festival we’re throwing out west in a few months that’s all about metal and beer; get your tickets here) and the various permutations of metal spawned from the roots of the family tree planted by Black Sabbath, the ol’ liver pounders should get along well ‘round these parts.”- Decibel Magazine

“Halifax stoner-metal outfit Hitman is back with its third release, The Offering: Side One, a four-track EP that shows both progression in sound and better execution of bringing its live atmosphere on record. The songs are its most hot-blooded to date, with guitar tones dialled-in in a way that follows the band’s lead, instead of the other way around.” – The Coast (Halifax Weekly)

“an onslaught of intense, energetic, and sick-nasty jams ” – Canadian Beats

“This is a gem. Hitman kill it on these four cuts. Part two is due next year and you can count me in.” – Maximum Volume Music

“it rocks and rocks out powerfully…”The Offering: Side 1″ leaves you with a satisfied grin and strengthened neck muscles.” – PowerMetal.de

“The Offering: Side 1 exudes a corny type of old-time groove that I seldom find these days. This is how Stoner Rock ought to sound, full of long-gone flavors reminiscent of early Black Sabbath and Judas Priest combined. With a few additional amps added to the fray, of course – because they can. So, here’s to a juicy slice of rock, straight from the cold shores of Canada. Go and get some, you will not be disappointed” – Rock Music Raider

Montreal, QC – September 11, 2018

For fans of Angelmaker, Carnifex, Veil of Maya, Impending Doom, Upon A Burning Body

CREATURES Release Goofy, Psychedelic & Deathly “Rick Sanchez” Guitar Playthrough via PureGrainAudio

New EP “II” Out Now!

L-R = Christian Roman – Bass, Vic Borowski – Guitar, Rob Esposito – Vocals, Nick Galati – Guitar, Tj MacKay – Drums

Unleashing their second EP “II” unto the world through their own independent label Old Haunt Records this past July, CREATURES have put together a new guitar playthrough for their track “Rick Sanchez“. The video not only captures their shredding skills, but also their sense of humour as you watch them take on being goofy, psychedelic, yet deathly with their rampaging riffs.

Teaming up with PureGrainAudio.com, CREATURES is premiering the guitar playthrough at the following link: https://puregrainaudio.com/videos/creatures-release-a-goofy-psychedelic-and-deathly-rick-sanchez-guitar-playthrough-video-exclusive-premiere

Spawned in the Toronto murk in 2015, CREATURES is a group effort with a long history that intertwines the lives of numerous local bands to summon a truly devastating soundscape of unbridled chaos. Inspired by bands such as Necrophagist, Despised Icon and Thy Art Is Murder, CREATURES is a band playing heavy and catchy deathcore, taking intense sounds and mixing in small elements of extreme and black metal.

Their latest effort “II” reaches into a large porcelain cup of topics. Instead of just merely presenting their themes to their listeners CREATURES smashes the grail in their faces making sure their themes cut deep and stay with them. Whether they are lyrics about the futility of existence with a cartoon metaphor, or the bond of brotherhood within an intense party setting, there is a message for everyone to latch onto. Regardless, the songs are a visceral insight into the band’s life.

The band comments:

“The ‘Creatures II’ EP as a whole is the ideas and thoughts over the past year. We are expecting this release to be even better received than the last EP. We worked twice as hard on ‘II’ and had a few new people along the way that really helped add an outside perspective to the creative processes for a more mature and heavy sound. We really just want to create a seamless listening experience for the fans, leaving them wanting more, and left with the feeling of needing to listen to the EP over and over again.”

EP available for download and stream on Bandcamp and Spotify.

“II is five tracks long and flys by in an instant as barbaric riffs, bitter vocals, mind-bending breakdowns and a constant feeling of desperation wrap around you. This is not an EP for the faint of heart as Creatures have a habit of jumping out at you in an attempt to startle you.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“a bridge between Mathcore and Deathcore! Interesting combination.” – Heavy Metal New York

“With a year gone by with some amazing Deathcore albums, this year has been a little bleak. Not to worry though, this little jewel is here. To get straight to the point, this band’s style is absolute and true to their promise, for their influences scream out the best traits of both Carnifex and Angelmaker….This is an easy 8/10. Deathcore the way it should be.” – PIG SQUEALS AND BREAKDOWNS
“This is heavy and catchy deathcore, incredibly intense, which also brings in elements of extreme and black metal. Inspired by bands such as Necrophagist, Despised Icon and Thy Art Is Murder, this is one heck of an EP.” – Frame Music

“If you’re looking keen to re-live your Deathcore scene days, you might want to cop this release from Creatures, a Deathcore killing machine from Canada. ‘II’ is a 5 track EP playing in the vein of Veil of Maya, Impending Doom and Carnifex with some touches of Black Metal. “- Dissecting the Euphony

“The band’s Deathcore is both well executed and produced, and they push the right buttons to get this quite effective.” – Metal Norge

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 10, 2018

Rockshots Records: Dark Metal Band KARMIC LINK New Single “Random Phantom”

New Album “Dark Metropolis” Out October 19

Rockshots Records is proud their latest signing of dark industrial metal band Karmic Link for the release of their third album “Dark Metropolis” on October 19th, 2018. This next full length follows the band’s two previous albums “Esoterica”(2010) and debut “No Light But Rather Darkness Visible”(2008).

Karmic Link was founded by Stathis Kassios (Nightfall, ex-System Shock) whom after a period of extensive recording and live experience wanted to give birth to a surrealistic musical project. The outcome has been a dose of dark industrial coldness with Mediterranean energy along with atmospheric landscapes, progressive and instrumental madness, electro breakdowns plus hard rock pentatonic moments.

The band’s current line up features an international cast consisting of band founder Stathis Kassios (ex-keyboard player of Sweden’s System Shock and of Greece’s Nightfall), Evan Hensley (guitar, bass) (ex-Nightfall, Dark Hound), hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, USA and Sweden’s Kim “Kimbo” Gustavsson (drums, guitar) currently based in Oslo (Norway).

Stathis Kassios comments:

“Karmic Link is promoting thought provoking concepts, ideas, heretic and hermetic philosophies to explain today’s chaotic world and the Dystopian times to come in a globally connected world…Karmic Link is the bitter yet powerful sound of our personal life’s soundtrack filled with anxiety for the future ruled by technology.”

The band’s first single “Random Phantom” in support of “Dark Metropolis” is now streaming at the following link:

About:

Karmic Link is the brainchild of Stathis Kassios (Nightfall, ex-system Shock) who, after a period of extensive recording and live experience, gave birth to a surrealistic musical project. In 2006, he started experimenting on some songs with Mina G., a charismatic mezzo-soprano, full of karmic ideas. The link was established and the result was mixed and mastered in the famous Tico Tico studios in Finland. The group’s debut album “No Light but Rather Darkness Visible” was released in 2008 with a new lineup consisting of  Stathis Kassios, Evan Hensley and Kim Kimbo Gustavsson. Karmic Link so far consists of mediterranean energy, doses of industrial coldness, atmospheric landscapes, progressive bits, instrumental madness, dark pop tunes, electro breakdowns, funky grooves and hard rock pentatonic moments. Karmic Link’s new album Dark Metropolis (2018) is an album sourcing musicianship from Greece, Norway and USA, different cultures bound together to offer an alternative metal experience!

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 7, 2018

For fans of Dethklok, Bloodhound Gang, Tenacious D,
Weird Al Yankovic, Primus, Stephen Lynch, Mr. Bungle

“Do” Sing Along To PSYCHOSTICK With Their Latest Lyric Videos

Surprised Fans With New Album “DO”

Shocking the world with their surprise album “DO” this past July during a live fan engagement webcast on Twitch (watch the video here), the kings of comedy rock PSYCHOSTICK want to now show you how to “DO” sing-a-longs with their latest laugh tracks off the release. Posting lyric videos on their Youtube channel, fans can now get their karaoke on and sing their hearts out to such tracks as “We Are a Band”, “You Can (Maybe) Do It”, “Introvert Party Time”, “Uncle Material” and more!

Check out all their lyric videos at the following link here.

Also don’t forget to watch their latest music videos.

“DO” – https://youtu.be/V-EgWg133Hc
“Adulting” – https://youtu.be/gMtW9zurUkw
“From The Heart” – https://youtu.be/oww5UWEeAO4
“Bacon Egg & Cheese on Toast with Sriracha” – https://youtu.be/4rcHIUUJYYw

It only took four years for “DO” to surprise fans and follow PSYCHOSTICK’s extremely fan loved “IV: Revenge of The Vengeance”. And it wasn’t because they were lazy… NO! But because these geniuses of blending comedy, metal, heavy rock and the occasional spoof cover have been super busy releasing viral videos and touring the world, most recently completing North American tours with Mushroomhead and Urizen.

“DO” may have passed by fans quickly, but it’s sure to impress and continue PSYCHOSTICK‘s reign as one of the funniest band’s to listen and laugh to. The album debut #1 on Billboard’s Comedy Albums chart along with ranking at #14 for Hard Rock Album, #39 for Rock Album, #39 for Independent Albums and #9 for Heatseekers Albums for the week of August 11th.

Album CD order, digital download and streaming available on Psychostick Online Store, Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify and all other major online retailers.

The band comments:

“Whelp, here it is! “Do.” This whole “surprise, nerd! New album!” experiment was extremely fun, and we’re beyond appreciative of your patience and understanding. We agree with you – four years is way too long. We hope to fix that despite what Murph says!

“Do” is our first 100% independent, label-free release since 2003! Our production process is still completely internal, but this time all profits go straight to Psychostick. This is extremely huge for us and we can’t thank you enough.

2018 marked the fifteenth anniversary of our first album, and we’re beyond excited that we’re still kickin’, making globs upon globs of comedy metal. We aim to do this until they kick us out of the old folks’ home or off of Mars. That’s right. We’re goin’ to Mars, damnit.”

Lineup:
Joshua “The J” Key – Guitars, Cupcakeist
Robert “Rawrb” Kersey – Vocals, Derptroller
Alex “Shitbag” Dontre – Drums, pelican
Matty J “Moose” – Bass, antlers, merch-monger
Patrick “Murph” Murphy – Videographist, pork specialist

About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, and a style of music they’ve coined as ‘humorcore’. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US of A, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Now residing in Chicago, IL, the almost 100 percent do-it-yourself laugh factory Psychostick have released five full-length albums–‘We Couldn’t Think of a Title’ (2006), ‘Sandwich’ (2009), ‘Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D’ (2011) and ‘IV: Revenge of the Vengeance’ (2014), ‘DO’ (2018) —and two EPs—their holiday album, ‘The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride’ (2007), and ‘The Digital Appetizer’. With their signature sound (Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed sexing Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic), Psychostick are crazy to share with fans many more comedy sing-a-longs on the road and more!

BIO:Dire Peril was an idea that goes as far back as Jason Ashcraft’s (guitars, bass) high school years. The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since.

Originally formed in 2009, the band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. In 2015, feeling like things just weren’t as they should be, Ashcraft decided to take a step back and take a hard look at where the band was headed.

Inspired by all manner of science fiction, especially classic sci-fi movies, Dire Peril regrouped as a double piece; Ashcraft was joined by singer John Yelland, and together they began working on the debut album titled “The Extraterrestrial Compendium,” set for release on November 9, 2018. Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including an upcoming North American tour with Seven Kingdoms allowing the American sci-fi power metal band to reach its final form and share their dark, aggressive adventure with the masses.

Formed in late 2017 by mastermind Marco Salvador, Manam creates a unique style that spaces on all the horizons of melodic death metal, changing from song to song and touching different genres, but always strictly bound to its main concept. Focusing on being dynamic and including the audience, they are eager to bring their spiritual approach to life, depicted through melecoholic and atmospheric music to new fans around the world.

Salvador explains:

“We want to only make concept albums so that the listener can immerse themselves into a journey, embraced by the atmosphere of the music, but still able to make her/his own experience, bringing with them the unique meaning she/he will find in our music. With our future albums, we’re also planning to expand this experience with visual art, some movies, and for the third album, we hope there will be a book too, to expand on  our visions.”
