Canadian 90’s Rockers SVEN GALI 25th Anniversary Ontario Tour + New Single “Kill The Lies”

Formed in 1987 in Hamilton and Niagara Falls, Ontario, SVEN GALI brought the 80’s and 90’s hard rock/metal wave home to Canada. They delivered their high-energy live show from St. Johns to Victoria, and across the USA and Europe for the next 9 years.

Twenty-five years after their self-titled debut album went Gold (50,000 units) in Canada, they are back with a monster new song called “Kill The Lies” recorded with legendary producer David Bendeth (Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, Bring Me The Horizon). Released on June 10th, 2018 the new track is no throwback to the 90’s, but a heavy, modern rock song that doesn’t look back. A part of the proceeds from the sale of the single will go to support cancer research in the name of founding guitar player Dee Cernile. Dee passed away from cancer in 2012.

The 2018 lineup includes all 3 remaining original members: Dave Wanless (vocals), Andy Frank (guitar), Shawn Minden (bass) and new members Sean Williamson (guitar) and Dan Fila (drums) from Canadian metal powerhouse and BMG label mates Varga.

SVEN GALI built a name fast with their live shows; drawing growing crowds on the Canadian and US circuit while building their songwriting chops and a wild reputation. David Bendeth signed the band to BMG Music Canada in 1991 and produced the self-titled debut, released in 1992.

The album included singles and videos for “Under The Influence”, “Tie Dyed Skies”, “In My Garden”, and the ballad, “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” (#6 CanCon song of 1993). It included a cover of Teenage Head’s “Disgusteen” featuring guest vocals by Frankie Venom. The video for “Under the Influence” won the MuchMusic Best Metal Video award in 1993. The band was nominated for Hard Rock Album of the Year and Most Promising Band at the 1993 Juno Awards. Sven Gali went gold in Canada that year selling over 50,000 units.

SVEN GALI toured extensively throughout Canada and the USA, Germany, Belgium, Ireland and the UK, headlining and on the bill with acts including April Wine, Foreigner, Candlebox, Pearl Jam and Def Leppard.

Their follow up album, Inwire (1995), recorded at London Bridge Studios in Seattle, was produced by Kelly Grey (Candlebox, Brother Kane, Dokken) and featured guest musicians Christopher Thorn of Blind Melon, and Candlebox’s Kevin Martin and Scott Mercado.

The band toured for the next year before disbanding in 1996 to now reform in 2018.

American/Finnish sensations TORNADO return in 2018 with a new release, aptly titled “Commitment To Excellence” featuring 11 songs of highly catchy and in-your-face thrash metal. Set to be released on August 31, 2018 via Extreme Metal Music, a subsidiary of Rockshots Records, this third full length features a guest line up that includes NILE’s Karl Sanders, IMMOLATION‘s Ross Dolan and PRO-PAIN’s Adam Phillips as well as Glen Drover (ex-MEGADETH). The album was produced by Ben Varon (ex-Amoral/Oceanhoarse) with mixing, mastering and engineering by AK, Chris Paccou (FOH Engineer of Slayer).

Formed in 2010 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, TORNADO quickly released their Peter Tagtgren (Hypocrisy/Pain) produced debut album “Amsterdamn, Hellsinki”. 2016 saw the release of the sophomore album “Black President” as well as the video for the anti-bullying song “David and Goliath”, which caught the attention of several anti-bullying agencies, one of which used singer Superstar Joey Severance in a country wide advertising campaign.

Named after a glacier in Nunavut, Canada, SAATE‘s sound is heavy, fresh and modern with a traditional metal feeling. Spawned in the Toronto murk in 2015, CREATURES is a group effort with a long history that intertwines the lives of numerous local bands to summon a truly devastating soundscape of unbridled chaos. Inspired by bands such as Necrophagist, Despised Icon and Thy Art Is Murder, CREATURES is a 5 piece band playing heavy and catchy deathcore, taking intense sounds and mixing in small elements of extreme and black metal.

Almost immediately after forming, CREATURES released a 4 track self-titled EP. A varied sampling of the musical talents from the band helped them gain the interest of fans in the local scene and they played several shows with great reception. Taking great pride in live performances, Creatures embodies all the aspects of showmanship with high energy and audience involvement.

Three years later, in 2018, they’re set to unleash their second offering the “II” EP unto the world through their own independent label Old Haunt Records on July 20th. The songs reach into a large porcelain cup of topics and instead of just merely presenting their themes to their listeners, CREATURES smashes the cup in their faces, making sure their themes cut deep and stay with the listeners. Whether they are lyrics about the futility of existence with a cartoon metaphor, or the bond of brotherhood within an intense party setting, there is a message for everyone to latch onto. Regardless, the songs are a visceral insight into the band’s life.

It’s been 10 years since INTO ETERNITY unleashed 2008’s “The Incurable Tragedy” on Century Media with former vocalist Stu Block now of Iced Earth. Founded in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1997, Into Eternity is a cornerstone in the Canadian metal scene. Unleashing their eighth and latest release “Daño Colateral” digitally this past April, Mexican thrashers CENTAURO are proud to officially announce the album is now available on CD as of June 30th through Bandcamp and distributor Ablaze Productions.

“Daño Colateral” is CENTAURO‘s third full-length adding to their existing repertoire of well worked classic thrash intertwined with hearty samples of elements from several metal sub-genres, most notably black and death, resulting in a recognizable, deep and unique sound.

“Daño Colateral” is a concept album focused on the turbulent story of a person that was born into awful situations and throughout their life, continues to experience numerous setbacks even through effort and good will; a subjective message to decadence of society and modern system thoughts.

Drummer Mario Rivera further explains:

“The album is a story about a person that has been born from rape, that’s why this newborn is unwanted; So he and his brother work their way through the struggles of life until his brother dies. He gets angry with life and his resentment burns until he gets into prison for vandalism. In prison, he learns how to be a real criminal, and when he is released, he begins a path of violent crimes and killing until his madness makes him commit suicide.”

The band purposely takes the listener through torrid moments to create atmospheres of deep anxiety, fear, anger, joy and depression. It’s a journey through emotions that evolve from one to another. This intense story that can be both heart wrenching and uplifting can be heard in full stream and downloaded on Spotify, Bandcamp, Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play.

BIO:

In the heat of the summer of 2009, Mexican thrash metal band Centauro was born. Hailing from Culiacán, Sinaloa, they took their name from famous Mexican revolutionary fighter Doroteo Arango (Pancho Villa) a.k.a. “El Centauro del Norte”.

Mario Rivera (drums) delves into the origin of the band’s name,“We were kind of tired of a majority bands in our country having names mainly in English with some of them not even translating correctly. Coming from Mexico we really wanted our band’s name in our mother tongue to represent our culture and history. We wanted truly Mexican inspired metal, not everything to be about Vikings, runes, occultism and demons.”

Focusing on creating original trash infused metal they have found recognition both locally and abroad. Over the course of nine years they have unleashed eight releases, 2 EPS (Enraizados – 2010, Oligarquía – 2014), a demo (Vía Agresión – 2011) and 3 full lengths (Devastación Total – 2013, Ciénagas Del Engaño – 2015, Daño Colateral – 2018). Their sound is well worked classic thrash intertwined with a hearty sample of elements from several metal subgenres, most notably, black and death, creating a recognizable, deep and unique sound.

Staying true to their roots, they write lyrics exclusively in Spanish broaching themes including politics, religion, lust, laziness, misery, death, joy and criticism of society. This fresh take on thrash metal can be described as aggressive, melodic, and unique. The band brings a contagious energy to the stage putting emphasis on having fun and interacting with the crowd while playing quality music.

In Thrash We Trust could be the mantra of modern thrashers TYMO, a band whose attitude lives up the title of their second and current full-length album. Entitled “Purge & Reset”, founding guitarist Tim Tymo explains the origin of a title that is more than words; it is a statement of metallic intent!

“Let’s just say we have a creator or superior being. If this being gave us everything we needed to flourish humanely and returned to see all the wars and corruption…this being would want to wipe the slate clean and start over. Hence…PURGE AND RESET!”

Formed in Edmonton in 2015, TYMO released their debut album ‘The Lone Wolf” in March of the same year followed by their most recent full length “Purge & Reset” unleashed during August of last year.

Inspired by Municipal Waste, Megadeth, Slayer, Bonded by Blood, and Metallica, TYMO’s sound is angry, loud, and explosive thrash, which is evident in their new lyric video “Evolved From You” premiered on PureGrainAudio.com.

For fans of Whitesnake, Van Halen, and Harem Scarem, Portuguese hard rockers BARROS release their new album “More Humanity Please…” out now as of June 29th via Rockshots Records.

The solo project from Tarantula guitar player Paulo Barros alongside brilliant and talented musicians such as singer Ray Van D, “More Humanity Please…” features 10 songs of melodic hard rock mixed and mastered by Harem Scarem singer Harry Hess in Canada with artwork done by Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes (Gus G, Jeff Scott Soto, Kamelot, etc…).

Lyrics were written by Ray Van D and explore themes as diverse as “Love as a driving force that goes beyond” and “Come what may feel”, to a critical take on the formatting of art and music produced by corporations, “fast food music”; as well as an invitation on the reflection on the ephemerality of life, the lack of humanity in the world today and the banality of violence in social media along with our dependence on technology and a dose of humor that is Murphy’s law: “Where if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong in the worst way at the worst time and in such a way as to cause the greatest possible harm”.

A true spectacle to be witnessed, LORDS OF THE TRIDENT is a daring adventure metal quintet that has been delighting their audiences and fans all over the world for ten years. To continue on their epic quest of bringing spectacular and entertaining metal to global fans these power metal warriors will be unleashing their 7th album “Shadows From The Past” on August 24th. In celebration of this new beast from their discography, LORDS OF THE TRIDENT will be performing the album live for the first time at this year’s MAD WITH POWER FEST in Madison, WI on August 25th.

Organizing the festival for its second year, LOTT vocalist Fang VonWrathenstein comments:

“Mad With Power Fest is our yearly chance to bring the strongest, bravest, and most WORTHY heavy metal bands from all around the country under the same roof. This year’s lineup will be an absolutely amazing menagerie of power, thrash, and heavy metal, and should not be missed by anyone! In addition to the upcoming release of “Shadows From The Past”, LORDS OF THE TRIDENT started a kickstarter campaign that went live on June 1st. The band has now reached their objective of $6,000 plus their 2nd stage stretch goal, which will now gives those who pledged over $100 or $25 added to any already made pledge to receive a red blood double vinyl copy of the new album along with multi-color “Shadows From The Past” custom guitar picks.

The band are still asking fans to answer the call to help them make their next extra stretch goal, which includes a full color zip up hoodies (design TBA) (for any pledge of over $250 or $50 added to any already made pledge).

Since climbing out of a volcano in 2008, shrouded in metal and ash, Lords of the Trident have gone to battle on many stages across the USA, playing and headlining a plethora of festivals and have an admirable arsenal of recordings in their inventory. The Lords of The Trident have released three full albums: “Death or Sandwich” (2009), “Chains on Fire” (2011), “Frostburn” (2015) , three EPs: “Plan of Attack” (2013), “A Very Lords of the Trident Christmas” (2014), “Re:Quests” (2015), and two live DVDs, along with numerous compilation singles.

Fang, aka Ty Christian, has a quality to his voice that reminds me so much of Niklas Isfeldt, formerly of Dream Evil. But when he has to, he can get up there and really wail away with all the confidence in the world. Guitarists Asian Metal and Killius Maximus have got the power metal chops down perfectly.
