From Akademia Award-winning producer, engineer, and songwriter to now backed with a full recording and live lineup, technical death metal shredder Matt Miller announces his signing to Exitus Stratagem Records for the release of his seventh album, “Fiber Tormentum,” set for release on September 12, 2025.

Featuring many new elements with the collaborative efforts from Jordan Kelso (Drums, Synth), Justice Robinett (Bass), and Biko Wright (Vocals) joining Matt Miller (Guitars, Synth), “Fiber Tormentum” is the heaviest, most melodic, and most technical music out of his catalog of six albums and two EPs since 2021.

“It’s got a lot to offer for the instrumental fans as well as new fans who want to hear the music with vocals and the unique things each of these musicians is bringing to the table. I think fans will be pleasantly surprised. Especially being the first release as a full band and having vocals. I heard from many fans that they really like the instrumental music but they would also really like to hear the tracks with vocals and see the live shows with a full band. Which I completely agree with,” says Miller.

Lyrically, “Fiber Tormentum” took shape as a loose concept album along the lines of Aliens wanting to take over our planet, and this time, they are changing human DNA to enslave humanity. The band has a strong Sci-Fi influence that is based on real-life events in their music.

Today, Matt Miller unveils the album’s trailer along with the album artwork for “Fiber Tormentum” created by metal brother, friend, and Voraath drummer and mastermind Joshua Nassaru Ward, who passed away earlier this year.

Akademia-Award-winning producer, engineer, and songwriter MATT MILLER side-steps these industry achievements to embark on something deeply introspective and personal: a transcendent, reactionary, and vile personage embodying soaring progressive melodies and captivating crushing rhythms that engulf the listener in black clouds of desperation and shimmering hope.

Drawing upon the gut-wrenching timed-precision of European death metal stalwarts NECROPHAGIST and SPAWN OF POSSESSION, MATT MILLER progressively blends this approach with deep synthetic and symphonic atmospheres like that of DEVIN TOWNSEND, often arriving at surprisingly emotive and heart-clenching metallic passages like that of RIVERS OF NIHIL.

Calling upon other single-member death metal projects such as PUTRID PILE or INSIDIOUS DECREPANCY, the live performance can best be described as a reclaiming and repainting of the earth by a relentlessly sweeping and deranged berzerker appealing to the vast minions of the extreme music. The combination of elements within MATT MILLER distills the traditions of the international metal realm, the progressive atmospheres of modernity, and reactions to a vile world into a single unrelenting persona of despair and vengeance.

MATT MILLER’s first self-produced instrumental EP came in 2017, drawing on influences from classic metal bands such as MEGADETH and IRON MAIDEN to shredders like YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and PAUL GILBERT while combining a technical death metal approach to create maximum-intensity music with a frenetic and frantic feel and ferocious atmosphere. Since then, and a few releases into this brief career, MATT MILLER boasts 12,000 consistent monthly listeners on Spotify before hitting the international touring circuit. This was garnered from his 2017 EP, the 2021 self-released ‘Decrepit Shed’ LP, the ‘Reekomposer/Decomposer’ covers double LP, as well as the ‘8E’s’ 1980’s 1980s-themed covers LP.

In 2022 Matt released the formidable original instrumental LP Monument of Velocity on Blood Blast Distribution. Matt also toured supporting Rings of Saturn on the CYBER SHRED TOUR 2022. 29 shows encompassing the continental United States. Matt has released the cover LP Only What the Light Allows through Blood Blast Distribution.

In 2023, Matt assembled a full band consisting of drummer Jordan Kelso and bassist Justice Robinett, both of whom are world-class musicians. Soon after, Matt headed to Europe in support of death metal pioneers Possessed on their Oblivion Over Europe Tour. In 2024, Matt began writing a new instrumental LP. After completing the demos, it became abundantly clear that the new record required vocals. Thus, vocalist Biko Wright entered the fray, and the end result became the new LP Fiber Tormentum. Fiber Tormentum is a step forward and makes the bold statement that nothing will stop Matt from his campaign of musical devastation.

Matt Miller hails from the rain-soaked northern Oregon Coast, which is influenced by the natural foreboding environment. Moving into the present, MATT MILLER has joined up with Extreme Management Group to spread a singularly relentless auditory mind-bend.

“Soaring, crushing, ferocious, emotive, and relentless, are words that strongly describe Decrepit Shed. The album has a lot to offer from various metal sub-genres and encompasses the best elements of technical guitar playing while still having well-written songs”. – Brave Words

“Monument of Velocity” initially had a different title and was not going to be a Matt Miller release and some of the songs were written with vocals in mind and were not going to be instrumental, however it turned out to be the sixth of seven powerful albums in his discography. contains eight tracks full of technical and progressive metal eliciting feelings of suspense, and tension while being fun, melodic and brutally heavy. Miller’s melodic and relentless music has a wide range of influences and is recommended for fans of Jeff Loomis, Necrophagist, and Obscura.” – Rock’n’ Load

“Even though Miller’s music is instrumental, he likes to think of the guitar as a voice. Which in turn makes him ask what is the guitar saying? He is able to easily convey emotion, tone, and a story even without the use of vocals. Throughout his releases, his music has developed a more modern sound in both the music and the production. Musically the songs are more well written and a lot of the ideas he writes are being accurately represented. He is always trying to push himself as a musician and this is reflected in his discography. Influenced primarily by technical and progressive death metal with a dash of power metal and symphonic metal as well, Matt Miller’s music is recommended for fans of Obscura, Dragon Force, and Racer X” – Metal Sucks

“Mr. Miller can shred like his fingers are on fire” Ever-Metal.com

“Matt shreds all over this album with guitar solos galore”. – Transcending the Mundane

“Soaring, crushing, ferocious, and emotive, Miller conveys a wide range of tones throughout his instrumental music. It is recommended for fans of Dragon Force, Racer X, and Jeff Loomis” – Metal-Rules

“For guitar enthusiasts, I guess it is a feast for the eyes and ears.” – Antichrist Magazine

The wait is over as Montreal, Canada’s heavy metal visionaries Mad Parish release their highly anticipated concept album “The Dust Of Forever”. Available on all major platforms as of Jan 31st, this ambitious project marks a new pinnacle in the band’s decade-long journey. “The Dust Of Forever” is not just an album; it’s a multi-faceted experience that pushes the boundaries of heavy metal storytelling. Spanning 21 tracks, the album weaves an original narrative following Joe, an immortal protagonist caught in a universe-threatening cataclysm. The band shares how the album came to be:

“The album has interesting origins. A song from our first album was inspired by a comic book. After Bob joined the band, he mused about what would happen if this priest from the comic discovered that he was immortal, and the song “The Dust Of Forever” was written. Once we started writing some more songs we discussed what kind of album to make next. That is when we came upon the idea of expanding this world we were writing about, and making a concept album.”

Going full-on, epic prog metal was a big challenge for Mad Parish and they set out to write a story that they would tell through the songs, and decided to create a companion comic book to accompany the album. Creatively, this is the most adventurous thing they’ve done to date.

From the opening “Prologue” to the climactic “Hail To The Hunter”, listeners are taken on an immersive journey through a richly imagined world. The album showcases Mad Parish‘s evolution, blending their NWOBHM-inspired roots with progressive rock structures, 70’s rock swagger, 80’s new wave textures, and even hints of classical and jazz. This eclectic mix results in a sound that’s uniquely Mad Parish – heavy, melodic, and deeply atmospheric. It is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Rush, and Rainbow.

“where some bands call the lyrics the story and leave it at that, not Mad Parish. They’ve actually made a full comic book as well to go along with the record” – Decibel Magazine

“We all know the prog metal genre is still overflooded by bands from all parts of the world. I stopped trying to keep updated in the genre many years ago, but sometimes there are bands that impress on me – or at least bring something different to most other bands in the genre. Montreal (Canada) band Mad Parish is a band I’d like to bring to your attention. They have a sound that comes closer to the end of the 80’s and early 90’s, which I like a lot. And the lead vocalist Josh McConnell has a very interesting voice, a bit like an early Ozzy Osbourne. Futhermore, they are not as progressive as your ’average’ prog metal act, and some songs can be described as ’hard rock with hints of prog’ – where others are true prog metal songs… well worth checking out, as this album offers something a little different to many bands.” – Melodic.net

““The Dust of Forever” is filled with material that will grab you right away but your appreciation will continue to grow with each additional spin. As I sit here writing this review and listening to the title track unfold (which btw is the last “song”), I’m already looking forward to hitting that repeat button to start this metal opera again. While I admit there is no one track that stands out, I’m realizing that the whole record stands out and works best when listened to from start to finish. This record may have taken many years to complete but it is worth it. 2025 is starting off with a bang and “The Dust of Forever” is a great way to usher in the new year.” – Wormwood Chronicles

“Progressive with classic riffs and a voice reminiscent of Ozzy. Overall, an interesting record that takes some getting used to ( because of the many interludes, but should not be underestimated. I find 8 out of 10 Hellfire points Canadians are allowed to attach themselves to their album.” – Hellfire Magazin

“For the Mad Parish comic, I must say that this booklet has certainly scored a more than enough score; the story, a fanciful epic with an entertaining mix of sci-fi and religious ingredients is a great pleasure, and the drawings may be somewhat “-easy” modern, but still of such quality, that really makes it worth taking a seat.” – Rock Portaal

“Josh McConnell’s vocals are a ray of hope because the singer exudes a lot of charisma and partly reminds me of a young Ozzy Osbourne… fine compositions such as ‘Ouen Formation’, which does it quite convincingly, to combine the prog page of IRON MAIDEN with GENESIS in the early Collins phase and even give you a good catchy tune.” – PowerMetal.de

“Somewhere between the melodic prog rock a la Asia to Rush, and the spicier NWOBHM of something in the direction of Praying Mantis; that’s how the music of The Dust Of Forever comes across to me. Names such as BOC, Boston or Iron Maiden can also sometimes appear. Mad Parish seems to belong to the NWOTHM movement; or the New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal. Very catchy, beautiful pieces with harmonic melody lines… The compositions are absolutely of top level, as are the appropriate and melodic ( often high) vocals and I also really need to mention the guitars. The technical interpretation of the rhythm section may not be as clear as, for example, the aforementioned Rush, but this is also just fine. With so much keyboard available, I had a completely different scene in mind for the title Transmission #2 Will Of God, but no (kerk) organ or gospel; We hear a wonderful jazz-freaky Fripp-like piece of work. This album is well put together and also contains some surprises.” – Rock Portaal

“A traditional and original album at the same time, whose intensive listening and acquisition should be added to the list of your good resolutions for the year 2025.” – Music In Belgium

“These Canadian trad metallers take us deeper into the story of their forthcoming concept album – and comic book – with a song which very much draws from how Black Sabbath recorded ‘Paranoid’, in that it was thrown together as a last-minute album filler but could become one of their defining musical moments’ – Uber Rock

“an ambitious heavy metal album that offers a mix of complex musicality and concept-oriented lyrics.” – MetalUnderground.at

“the album weaves an original story through a tapestry of Heavy Metal, following the journey of Joe, an immortal protagonist caught in a universe-threatening cataclysm, promising to transport listeners to another realm, with layered sounds and textures that reveal new aspects with each listen… Fans can look forward to an immersive album experience… one of the most innovative bands hailing from Montreal.” – The Headbanging Moose

“This one is red hot folks, the new album “Dust of Forever” from Mad Parish arrives today and it’s impressive. Track after track of ‘New Wave of British Heavy Metal’ that melds with progressive rock and in the end you have one kickin’ album man. Catch tracks from Mad Parish & “Dust of Forever” on your Home for the Best New Rock… W-J-O-EEEE” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll

“A bit of a ‘catch-all’ album, but this musically rich and eclectic set, which brings Joe ‘s adventures to life and allows you to browse through the beautiful comic book illustrating the compositions at the same time, has the merit of being terribly addictive and allows Mad Parish to sign an excellent album.” – Prog Critique

“an album that overflows with a magnetism”- Dargedik Webzine

“The Dust of Forever presents a number of interesting musical ideas… it offers a thrilling blend of Floydian space rock, the playful prog of Rush, organ-driven Deep Purple, and British heavy metal.” – The NWOTHM

Unveiling their fourth full-length “Dark Green” this past February via their Bandcamp, Montreal, Canada’s Tumbleweed Dealer is proud to share that the album is now available on all digital platforms (listed below).

“Dark Green” is a culmination of an eight-year journey for the band, resulting in their most ambitious and fully realized work to date. Listeners can now immerse themselves in all ten tracks of this genre-defying masterpiece, experiencing the album as it was intended – a complete, transformative journey through sound and emotion. The band comments:

“We tried to capture two essential parts in Alan Moore’s retelling of Swamp Thing’s origin: Firstly, the main character’s struggle and loss of identity. We also wanted to capture the antagonist’s transformation into nature’s anger towards men. We wanted to keep all the Southern sensibilities in our sound while tackling a much more serious tone.

From the opening notes of “A Distant Figure In The Fog” to the closing moments of “A Soul Made Of Sludge”, “Dark Green” takes the listener on an unparalleled auditory adventure. Each track builds upon the last, creating a cohesive narrative that explores themes of nature, consciousness, and the human experience. The album’s production quality shines throughout, with every instrument and effect meticulously placed to create a rich, enveloping soundscape.

As you listen to the album stream, pay attention to the intricate details and hidden layers within each track. Tumbleweed Dealer has crafted “Dark Green” to be an album that reveals new secrets with each listen, much like revisiting a favorite film or novel. Let the music wash over you, and prepare to be transported to the lush, mysterious world of “Dark Green”, which will be especially intriguing to those with an interest in Rush, Elder, Ohm, Camel, Opeth, and Cynic,

“The epic song (Dark Green) is a good indication of what the rest of the record holds, which is plenty of blues, psychedelia, and prog rock.” – Decibel Magazine

“Canada’s Tumbleweed Dealer take listeners on a rich auditory adventure on Dark Green” – The Prog Space

“How about a new prog-rock instrumental?! The title track “Dark Green” from the forthcoming album has arrived from progressive stoner rockers, TUMBLEWEED DEALER and we’re digging it. We’ve also had the opportunity to preview the new album and it’s also a strong statement and should sit well with prog lovers. Keep an eye out for the album to be released on Feb. 7th and catch the single “Dark Green” now on your Home for the Best New Rock…” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll

“an enjoyable album from Tumbleweed Dealer, an album that’s totally not your run of the mill psych/prog/stoner release and not afraid to take chances and do something different. Oh, and the cover art is damn glorious! 4/5” – Sea of Tranquility

“Tumbleweed Dealer’s Dark Green takes one on a swampy odyssey that blends cinematic storytelling with an intricate fusion of styles. Released eight years after their last album, the ambitious project feels less like a follow-up and more like an evolutionary leap. The band retains its roots in southern-tinged stoner rock while weaving in progressive, post-punk, and jazz influences to craft a truly genre-defying sound.” – Amplify The Noise

“a bold evolution of their signature blend of bluesy desert rock and progressive experimentation.” – Montreal Rocks

“10 tracks of instrumental/semi-instrumental music that fuses prog, stoner, blues, sludge and more into one astonishing and surprising sonic trip!” – Loud Enough? Magazine

“Dark Green is, as I’ve mentioned, a welcoming return to the Dealer’s home planet. The future seems certain to see what the trio will do next. Their continuous sound has been putting listeners into a trance, not knowing what will happen in the weeks, months, and years to come. It might be the album’s answer to the Midnight Movies of the late ‘60s and 1970s where it still continues to thrive, and we got something special with this bad boy.” – Echoes & Dust

“This is one of those compositions that requires total immersion. Clean singing, bah who needs singing at all?! Recorded with finetuned care so you can hear all the little fret squeaks before they ramp up the ambience straight from a John Fruscianterecord. With synths and other keys that chameleon-ize said maestro’s voice, later emulating the sound of a backing choir that then morphs into church organ. When the atmospherics basking in the background saunter forth, the darker shades of green start to realize and the track enters the domain of prog royalty. As a double kick is racing the throbbing-for-the-last-gasp procreative releases of the bass before flamenco-picking a Morricone lick ghosted into a pregnant silence to just nod for the memory of a note that enticingly lures like an anglerfish with, “you ready for more?” The timestamp at termination is 4:51 but this is some form of dimension-manipulating chronomancy because the track feels like it is over quicker than Napalm Death’s “You Suffer.” That means I’m either suffering from THC-induced crapulence or my favorite drug just happens to be music; and when it’s layered this well, with so much to encounter on repeat listens, it can truly have the magical property of transcendental transportation.” – No Clean Singing

“”Dark Green” is an excellent album” – Plus PROG de Vous

“I do really dig when they unleash the Organ on tracks like Moss On The Mind and A Soul Made Of Sludge. They give the drummer some love on the cool track Body Of The Bog. I also enjoy how this is an instrumental record where all the songs are relatively short, creating a nice flow to the album, especially for those with short attention spans. Dark Green is a mixed bag to me. There is some cool instrumentation and wow can these guys play… Those who like their instrumental stoner with some proggy and even jazz elements may dig this…” – Musipedia of Metal

“If you’re all about chill vibes and want something easy to listen to, Dark Green has plenty to offer with all the different keyboard textures and psychedelic sounds thrown at you atop a comfortable math rock base.” – Progressive Subway

“‘Dark Green’ is a bit of a musical experience really, the psychedelic and progressive nature of the music takes you on a hell of a trip, with each song expressing something completely different and sometimes pretty abstract.” – Uber Rock

MORNINGSTVR Unveils Black Metal “The Last Of The Northern Kingdoms” Music Video

New Album “A Fate Engraved” Out June 2025

Following the announcement of his upcoming album “A Fate Engraved”, synth-based black metal artist Morningstvr has released the first single “The Last of the Northern Kingdoms”, and an accompanying music video. The nearly five-minute track showcases the Morningstvr’s signature blend of cold, atmospheric synths, thunderous drums, and anguished vocals that have become hallmarks of his distinctive sound. He comments on the single:

“The Last of the Northern Kingdoms: is the lead song on this album, it gives reference to one of Tolkien’s works thus telling the story of my origins. This one stood out to me as the lead song because of its epic changes in the song, the emotion it gives along with how heavy it became as I finished writing it.”

“The Last of the Northern Kingdoms” has overarching themes of medieval lore, ancient battles, and fallen empires. Sam Tchortov, the Russian American musician behind Morningstvr, crafts a narrative that bridges his previous work “In Memoriam of the Blvck Wind” with this new chapter in his “Unholy Trinity” saga. The visual aesthetic of the music video complements the music’s frigid atmosphere, depicting desolate winter scapes and crumbling medieval architecture that reinforce the track’s themes of lost glory and forgotten kingdoms.

Drawing from his diverse influences including Darkthrone, Hulder, and JRR Tolkien’s works, Tchortov has created a piece that stands as both a powerful single and an integral part of the larger narrative that “A Fate Engraved” aims to tell.

Watch and listen to the music video for “The Last of the Northern Kingdoms” via its premiere on Metal-Rules HERE.

“A Fate Engraved” is set for release on June 20, 2025.

Canada’s DREAM HEAVY’s New Single “Filthy Rich” Is A Rock Attack On The 1%

New EP Coming 2025

Weaving together ethereal vocals, rich harmonies, and intricate guitar along with violin melodies, Dunster, BC, Canada’s Dream Heavy is a melodic and enchanting world folk metal group. Revealing two singles in 2024, “Song In The Dark” and the thought-provoking single “Survival” featuring Haida hip-hop artist Ms. Panik, the band is kicking off 2025, with their next single “Filthy Rich”, which will be featured on the band’s planned EP due out later this year. The track is an aggressively progressive rock attack on the 1%, specifically aimed at the likes of Elon Musk and his narcissist stooge Trump. Seth Macdonald (Guitars/Vocals) explains the single further:

“People are pissed off in Canada right now and throughout the Western world where Oligarchs and con-men are attempting to usurp our systems of governance and trample on our democratic rights and freedoms, all for the sake of more money and power for the already “filthy rich.”

This song is a battle cry to BRING THEM DOWN! It starts slow and dirgy and builds into a driving attack on the disgustingly rich. The lyrical sections of the song have been left deliberately “open” for audiences to be able to hear and understand the message and identify with the lyrics. As per the usual Dream Heavy style, there is a big build-up before the lyrics start to set the stage for battle so to speak. This gives a chance for each of the musicians in the band and our guest player Mary Ancheta to truly showcase their talents and style. It finishes with a choreographed progressive guitar solo building to a full band walk-down to the roots of the song.”

Youtube – https://youtu.be/nX5C35CoJg0

Dream Heavy was formed from the ashes of beloved bands like Mamaguroove and Samson’s Delilah. The band credits its unique sound to influences from metal, Latin, Celtic, and other world music traditions. Its music, characterized by its intensity and thought-provoking lyrics, has captivated audiences across Canada and beyond, earning them a place on campus radio’s Top 10 lists.

Reflecting on the band’s long journey, they share that Dream Heavy‘s sound has evolved from each member’s collective passion for sound, movement, and justice. With their forthcoming EP, they aim to create a sonic and lyrical soundscape that demands to be heard in its entirety—a journey of self-discovery and contemplation. Dream Heavy is recommended for fans of boundary-pushing music in the vein of Porcupine Tree, Kalandra, and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Italian Folk Metal AEXYLIUM Unveils Powerful Single For Title Track Off Upcoming Third Album “Myth Of Mankind” Out May 2025

Aexylium returns with “Myth of Mankind,” the electrifying title track from their highly anticipated third album, which will be released on May 23rd, 2025, from Rockshots Records. This song represents a defining moment for the Italian folk metal band, encapsulating their evolution with a dynamic blend of immersive orchestrations, technical riffs, and anthemic melodies.

Merging the intensity of modern metal with the evocative power of folk instrumentation, Aexylium crafts a unique and amazing sound. “Myth of Mankind” perfectly exemplifies this fusion—combining epic arrangements, intricate guitar work, and the striking vocal interplay between frontman Sam Biganzoli and Arianna Bellinaso. The result is a track as cinematic as it is heavy, offering a fresh and modern take on folk metal while staying true to its melodic roots.

For fans of Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Amorphis, Folkstone, Alestorm, and Mago de Oz, this single is a must-listen. “Myth of Mankind” is not just a song—it’s a statement, showcasing Aexyllium at its most powerful and refined stage. The front cover has been designed by Gustavo Sazes (Angra, Soilwork, Dynazty, Epica).

From the barren expanse of sculpted sandstone, wind-carved hoodoos, and the vast canyons of Alberta, Canada’s badlands, one of the country’s loudest decibel-breaking extreme music events, LOUD AS HELL OPEN AIR FESTIVAL announces its 2025 lineup with REVOCATION, FIRST FRAGMENT, FILTH, INSURRECTION, GORGATRON, OPAL IN SKY and more!

Hosted in Drumheller, AB from August 1st to 3rd at the Dinosaurs Down Stampede, LAH showcases the best up-and-coming Canadian and international talent to roar through the country’s largest dinosaur fossil grounds.

This year’s 13th annual festivities will witness technical death metal masters Revocation headline the Sunday, August 3rd lineup. The band unveiled their latest 2025 single and music video “Confines of Infinity,” featuring brutal guest vocals from Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan. The single also marks the debut of a new Revocation lineup that sees vocalist and guitarist Dave Davidson joined by drummer Ash Pearson–who has been in the band since 2015–bassist Alex Weber and guitarist Harry Lannon. Revocation formed in 2006, and their self-released debut, Empire of the Obscene, came out in 2008. Since then, they’ve released seven critically acclaimed albums and have toured the world, bringing their technically charged, high-energy extreme metal to rabid fans in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Music Video – Confines of Infinity (ft. Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation) – https://youtu.be/h6Nez7ikOm4

Also on the Sunday lineup will be Insurrection, the powerhouse metal band from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. Formed over 20 years ago (2003), the band is known for its intense and energetic performances. Their sound is a unique twist of groovy death metal mixed with a healthy dose of thrash energy. The band has released several albums, including “Prologue” (2008), “Fracture” (2010), “Prototype” (2013), “Extraction” (2017), and “Obsolescence” (2024) (Bam Co. Heavy). Their music often addresses social and political themes through bilingual lyrics in both English and French. The band has gained a notable reputation on stage throughout Canada with tours covering coast to coast, including performances at festivals such as Montebello Rockfest, Trois-Rivières Metalfest, and Decimate Metalfest. Music Video – The Gathering – https://youtu.be/OloWe37IY04

Headlining Saturday, Aug 2nd, Montreal, QC’s First Fragment will display their virtuosity and demonstrate why they are so beloved globally for their Neoclassical/Technical Extreme Metal. The band broke ground with their debut EP “The Afterthought Ecstasy” (2010). Their latest two albums “Dasein” (2016), “Gloire éternelle(2021), and the latest instrumental compilation record “Le Recueuil Des Âges” (2024) have been released on Unique Leader Records. Music Video – Pantheum – https://youtu.be/4mU_qLoa3Ds

Saturday will also feature LAH alumni Gorgatron, guttural Death Metal out of Fargo, North Dakota. Their sound is based on a “love of the riff” approach to writing and is rooted in the old-school stylings of Death Metal and Thrash. They have honed their style and work ethic with rigorous DIY tours across the States, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. They have a slew of records under their belts with their latest “Sentience Revoked” (2024) (Redefining Darkness Records) and just this past January they unleashed a digital EP “Live From the Basement”. It was originally set to be released on Adult Swim’s ‘Fish Center Live’ in 2020, but was shelved due to Adult Swim shutting down their livestream division that same year. Music Video – Absorbency – https://youtu.be/oZ_0uqAh5fc

The festival’s first day on Friday, Aug 1st will be headlined by hip-hop-influenced deathcore gutter gang Filth out of North Carolina. They dropped the next chapter in their discography, Southern Hostility, in April 2024. Music Video – Opp Stoppers – https://youtu.be/DUl3DPXdCBY

Also on Friday are Vancouver, BC’s Opal in Sky, twin brothers Tyson and Dylon Opalinsky. They share a deep passion for music and its limitless possibilities. Their music reflects their shared values and beliefs. They believe that music has the power to heal, uplift, and bring people together. They are committed to creating meaningful and enjoyable music, and their unique sound is a fusion of different styles and influences. They released their debut album, “Dream Shift,” in July 2024. Music Video – Those Who Wait – https://youtu.be/w6KmSMB2zGs

With a lineup featuring over 40 bands from across Canada, the USA, and Mexico, traveling the furthest from Europe is Vienna, Austria’s Hog Meets Frog, a band fans don’t want to miss. The trio is renowned for their eccentricity and boundary-pushing music that blends prog, funk, and metal. Claymation Video – of snakes ‘n’ moles ‘n’ bulls ‘n’ dough – https://youtu.be/-ijNMjMDk6M

Other highlights for this year’s open-air are Toronto’s Beguiler, champions of last year’s 2024 Wacken Metal Battle Canada; the slamming deathcore of Arizona’s Gore Pig; Mexico’s Spit On Your Grave, showcasing their powerful, deep growls, blast beats, slam riffs, and heavy breakdowns, all infused with a melodic touch; and Vancouver’s Thirteen Goats, with their signature blend of infernal riffs, huge hooks, and uniquely theatrical songwriting.

Weekend Passes (Aug 1- 3) are available at https://loudashell.ca/shop/

This weekend pass grants you full access to all the headbanging, moshing, and metal mayhem that Loud As Hell Open Air offers.

What the press is saying:

“Located an hour and a half east of Calgary is the town of Drumheller, Alberta. With a population in the neighborhood of 8000 and existing smack dab in the middle of Canada’s desert and dinosaur country, it’s not a place one would immediately associate with any sort of metal scene, let alone a big-ass outdoor metal fest. But that’s where you’d be wrong. Going into its 11th year, the Loud as Hell Festival is set to roll on August 4-6th with the likes of Narcotic Wasteland, Jungle Rot and Incite headlining three days of metallic fun featuring 40 or so bands, including The Convalescence, Gorgatron, Necronomicon, Untimely Demise, Eyes of Perdition and more.” – Decibel Magazine

“Western Canada’s loudest heavy metal festival brings fans to town more known for dinos than drum solos.” – CBC Calgary

“What’s more metal than the badlands? Drumheller, AB, is known for being the dinosaur capital of the world — but it’s also the home of the Loud as Hell festival, an event celebrating none other than the loudest music known to man (and, by proxy, prehistoric reptile).” – Exclaim!

“Loud as Hell – one of Canada’s top underground metal festivals – was a metal family reunion. If you walked around the grounds, where tents covered the landscape like flowers, you would experience concert goers laughing, hugging and just enjoying the moment. The music played non-stop and the people were some of the best you’ll meet. What else do you need? If you’re a metalhead fan, mark it down for next year because this is a concert you don’t want to miss.” – Blackfalds Life

“Headbanger alert: Loud As Hell festival to ramp up the volume” – Calgary Herald

“Nevermind the bug spray and sun tan lotion, as August approaches Drumheller residents should stock up on earplugs.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud As Hell returns to the southern Alberta city for its seventh year and as its name implies, will rock the city to its core.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud as Hell has celebrated eight years in the Badlands to date, with acts from all over the world-shattering the peace and quiet of the hills in a camping and music extravaganza.” – Hanna Herald

“Drumheller with its dinosaur bones is the site of the annual Loud as Hell heavy metal festival Friday through Sunday. Dozens of the heaviest bands known to Man will be taking the stage, many of them Canadian” – Gig City

Unveiling their monumental musical odyssey and EP “Creation’s Call” in August 2024, Denver’s fantasy power metal warriors Siege Perilous unveil plans for their first full-length album.

Entitled “Becoming the Dragon,” the album is the band’s biggest and most ambitious work yet—a cinematic, narrative journey set in a world of warriors, dragons, and destiny. To help Siege Perilous unleash this epic power metal story, the band enlisted two of the most epic voices in the genre: Fabio Lione (Angra, ex-Rhapsody of Fire), a legendary power metal voice, and Kristin Starkey (Twilight Force, Temperance), the powerful contralto who brings her operatic touch to the tale.

A single narrative power metal opera from start to finish, “Becoming the Dragon” is centered around the Child of Prophecy, the hero who slays the dragon, played by Fabio Lione, but then comes to question whether he is truly a hero or simply a pawn of an ancient prophecy. After a journey of self-discovery that takes him across a vast fantasy world he, aided by the mystic Sorceress (Kristin Starkey), takes on the forces of destiny itself to forge a new future.

To bring this concept record to life, Siege Perilous is using Kickstarter and, once again, enlisting the help of power metal fans.

Vocalist Shaughnessy McDaniel comments:

“After the incredible reception we received for ‘Creation’s Call’, we couldn’t wait to bring people what they had been asking for, a full-length album. We are so excited and blown away that we get to work with the legendary Fabio Lione and the absurdly talented Kristin Starkey to bring this fun yet meaningful fantasy story to life, and Kickstarter is such a great way to help an up-and-coming band like Siege Perilous maximize this opportunity. The dream for this album is big! And while we are self-funding about half of it, we need some help to bring this full epic vision to life and to reach its full potential. Heroes of power! Warriors of metal! Keepers of the flame! Join us on an epic quest!”

Check out the exclusive rewards you can receive with your Kickstarter pledges, from Vinyl to classic rewards like CDs, t-shirts, and stickers to a few fun experiences by Siege Perilous.

“If you’ve ever wanted a power metal anthem written about your DnD Campaign, a favorite fantasy story, or a historical epic, now is your opportunity to bring those stories to life with a custom hand-crafted power metal track. This and many other cool rewards can be yours and 100% of the profits from this campaign will go into the production and promotion of “Becoming the Dragon.” We have many stretch goals including enhancing our vinyl, filming great music videos, and more! Thank you for contributing and helping us summon this fantasy into being. Share the campaign, spread the word and together we will continue to keep the dream of heavy metal burning bright!” adds McDaniel.

“It gives me great pleasure to tell you that Creation’s Call is a blast. Siege Perilous has succeeded in creating what I would call Epic Power Metal for the Working Man. They don’t waste your time with overlong symphonic interludes between tracks, melodramatic narration, or overproduction that tests the limits of your sanity. The band gets right to the point and pulls you into their epic tales of heroic daring immediately. This is a nice breath of fresh air and if this EP is anything to go by, Siege Perilous has a great future ahead of them. Yes, this could be considered power metal but the no-nonsense approach and urgency to the songwriting makes this release absolutely worth checking out for those of us in the NWOTHM scene. Plus, it’s really just a lot of fun. This one is highly recommended. THENWOTHM SCORE: 9/10” – The NWOTHM

“‘Creation’s Call’ never gets boring, even on Heavy Rotation. Five gifted musicians have succeeded in creating a varied EP. The twin guitar solos are convincing the whole time. It’s just a shame that it ends after twenty-one minutes. It makes you wish for a full-length album. And, of course, a thrilling live performance. 9.3/10” – Metalheads Forever Magazine

“solid power metal style that should satiate any LARP-attendees or Dungeons and Dragons mavens. Keep an eye on this quintet – wield thy sword as they lead the battle charge for more quality power metal from the states. 8/10” – Dead Rhetoric

“There are any number of quality bands like Siege Perilous active right now but the style is popular (and I love it) and these guys are as decent as the next similar act. They lean more the Metal side of the equation using the folk and orchestral moments as flavour, not the main style. CREATION’S CALL is a fine effort and I could easily see them on tour with Brothers Of Metal, All For Metal, Fellowship and other costumed Metal heroes. Worth checking out!” 4/5 – Metal Rules

“Denver metal mob reckon that their goal on “Creation’s Call” was to build a world and tell a story in “three to five minutes.” It’s a world of fantasy, as “Oathsworn” proves, where metal rules and swords are held high. “Across The Rubicon,” however, is delivered with such skill that you can’t resist getting sucked in with them. Shaughnessy McDaniel has a brilliant “metal” voice, roaring on “Sons Of The Verdant,” and guitar duo Scott Hancock and Cody Martinez can knock out a NWOBHM riff like it’s 1982, as the title song underlines. “Brothers Of Five” brings the epic one last time, galloping in proper fashion, and it’ll be interesting to see how Siege Perilous develops. This is one hell of an opening statement, mind you. 8.5/10” – Maximum Volume Music

“Creation’s Call not only highlights Siege Perilous’ dedication to epic storytelling but also emphasises their versatility within the power metal genre. With influences ranging from historical events to high fantasy, this EP offers a rich and varied auditory experience that will captivate fans. Prepare to embark on a grand journey through myth and history as Siege Perilous delivers their latest saga.” – Amplify The Noise

“Creation’s Call it is a cohesive and well-crafted work, where the combination of rich letters in history and fantasy, with a meticulous musical execution, it makes mandatory, regardless of its short duration. [82%]” – Via Nocturna
“Creation’s Call doesn’t get boring even in heavy rotation. Five gifted musicians have created a varied EP. The solos of the twin guitars are convincing across the board. It’s just a shame that it’s over after twenty-one minutes. You want a full-length album. And of course a sweaty live performance. 9.4/10” – Keep On Rocking

“Colorfully mixed NWOTHM/Epic Heavy/Power Metal elixir that appeals to a broad range of fans between ALESTORM, BATTLEROAR, ETERNAL CHAMPION, GATEKEEPER, IRON MAIDEN, RUNNING WILD and WRATHBLADE. Awakens a huge appetite for a full long-play album. On this EP you can clearly see that the band has enormous potential and has already given a great taste of their skills. Conclusion: Strong-looking genretobak that falls out of the usual range! 8,5/10” – FFM-Rock

““Oathsworn” simply explodes out of the gate. The band ratchets every possible dial up to 11 and charges into battle with an epic statement of intent.” – Nine Circles

““Brothers Of The Five” offers classic power metal as you would appreciate it. The strain on the neck muscles is correspondingly high and in some places the number cannot deny a slight Maiden stable smell.” – Hellfire Magazin
