Lutharö, from Hamilton, Canada is proud to premeire their music video for their single “Unleash The Beast” via Bravewords.com. The single is the title track off their upcoming EP and is an enticing amalgamation of death metal growling and punchy double kicks accompanied by power metal cleans and fiery guitar solos.

The myriad of dynamic elements and groovy bits make this one powerhouse of a song. Its lyrics follow the familiar situation of someone restraining themselves for too long in fear of judgement or emotional pain; as this goes on they feel an anger grow inside of them until it eventually turns into a full on monster seeking vengeance. The range on the vocals masterfully paint a vivid image of all hell breaking loose.

Further expanding on where Shipperbottom’s lyrics come from:

“The lyrics specifically on this EP were all inspired by emotional experiences in her day to day life with a more morbid twist and added metaphors.”

The band has crafted this EP in the hope their listeners will have a positive and and lasting experience, finding it enjoyable and authentic but also relatable. Giving nods to some of their noticeable influences including Arch Enemy, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Behemoth and Iron Maiden, Lutharö sits imposingly on the border of the death, power and thrash sub-genres.

BIO:

Born in 2013, Lutharö (Elvish for “the enchanter”) has been refining their sound which is complete with catchy riffs, blazing solos and vocals ranging from vicious growls to cleans that will send a chill down your spine. Starting out as more of a fantasy band, Lutharö has deviated into taking a more intimate path and now explores more relatable concepts.

Victor Bucur (guitar) initially starts the writing process with an idea or a few cool riffs which John Raposo (guitar), Cory Hofin (drums) and Ruslan Lypovsky (bass) add their own ideas to. Krista Shipperbottom (vocals) then adds the lyrics and melodies twisting the songs together into something dark and charismatic. Dominating the stage with an enormous presence, they have so far produced two EPs “Incarnadine” in 2015 and Unleash the Beast in 2018. They have hinted at returning to the studio late 2018 to start work on an anticipated third album.

Playing heavy, yet catchy music with prime influences including Lamb of God, Soilwork, Tool and Slipknot, Canadian anthemic metal band ATRIA will be unleashing their debut EP “New World Nightmare” on November 16th.

The debut release for the band is just a teaser of what is to be expected from them. Not just sticking with the usual heavy formula of the genre, they also add plenty of synth and orchestral parts and experiment with varying degrees of technicality over four introductory tracks.

Vocalist Tom Emmans expands on his vision for the band’s direction:

“I’ve always been a fan of catchy choruses. I like when bands can bring something dark and heavy, but also give me something to sing along to. We’ve tried to do that with our new single and I think we’ve accomplished that. Also the lyrics have a great deal of depth and personal meaning to them. The rest of the album is much heavier but there are still plenty of good hooks worked in there.”

Even as a relatively new band, ATRIA is finding their place in the Canadian underground scene and making their name known among a wide variety of metal fans.

BIO:
Founded by Tom Emmans (vocals) and Tim Ross (guitar) in August of 2017, ATRIA takes its name from a music venue in a nearby city at which Emmans and Ross played their first gig at with a different band. The experiences had at that place resonated enough to be cemented as the band’s moniker. Eventually they recruited Matt McGuire (drummer), Brent Westmoreland (bass) and Travis McGinnis (guitar) to fill out the lineup and have played a handful of shows and festivals with a great response and are hungry for more. The debut release for the band, New World Nightmare EP, is due November 16th, 2018. Even as a relatively new band, Atria is finding their place in the Canadian underground scene and making their name known amongst a wide variety of metal fans.

American sci-fi power metal duo DIRE PERIL featuring Jason Ashcraft (Helion Prime) and vocalist John Yelland (Judicator) are premiering their latest lyric video “Queen of The Galaxy” featuring Unleash The Archers vocalist Brittney Slayes whom reprise’s her role as Barbarella for a re-recorded version of the track. The song is their second single off their upcoming album “The Extraterrestrial Compendium” due out November 9th, 2018 via Divebomb Records to follow their three previous EP releases “Astronomical Minds” (2013), “Queen of The Galaxy” (2014) and “Through Time and Space” (2015).

“Telling the story of Barbarella the Queen of the Galaxy, we are joined by the first guest musician on the album Brittney Slayes (Unleash the Archers). This is actually a re-recording of an older Dire Peril track and the lyrics were written by original vocalist Norman Skinner.

BIO:Dire Peril was an idea that goes as far back as Jason Ashcraft’s (guitars, bass) high school years. The band’s name was inspired by a PC game he used to play, called “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline”, which has stuck with him ever since.

Originally formed in 2009, the band went on to create three EPs: Astronomical Minds, Queen of the Galaxy and Through Time and Space, and proceeded to play a handful of local shows, as well as a few out of town gigs. In 2015, feeling like things just weren’t as they should be, Ashcraft decided to take a step back and take a hard look at where the band was headed.

Inspired by all manner of science fiction, especially classic sci-fi movies, Dire Peril regrouped as a double piece; Ashcraft was joined by singer John Yelland, and together they began working on the debut album titled “The Extraterrestrial Compendium,” set for release on November 9, 2018. Recruiting a live line up enabled them to start playing live shows including an upcoming North American tour with Seven Kingdoms allowing the American sci-fi power metal band to reach its final form and share their dark, aggressive adventure with the masses.

Vancouver progressive metal band KOSM is proud to announce they will be releasing their debut album “Cosmonaut” on November 16th, 2018. Combining influences from Tool, Mastodon, The Agonist, Gojira and A Perfect Circle; their sound is dynamic and unquestionably lethal. Since their induction in 2016, they have been making their mark in Vancouver’s metal scene and beyond with cover videos, and most recently with two singles “Ancient Heart” and “Space Mead”. “Cosmonaut” is an LP loosely based on themes from the H.P. Lovecraft and other with each song meant to walk the listener through a story from beginning to end. With even more material in the world and future albums planned, KOSM summons you to join them on this journey full of experimental and progressive metal.

The band explains:

“Cosmonaut is a concept album loosely based on the weird-fiction of HP Lovecraft, and borrowing concepts from the science-fiction of Frank Herbert, and Roger Zelazny. The album follows a cosmonaut on a cosmic journey through time and space; from the earthly confines of mortal life, to ascendancy as an immaterial and omnipotent being. The cosmonaut’s journey is essentially symbolic, serving as a commentary on the human experience: a journey from confusion and anger, to transcendence and self-understanding.”

The song is off the American power metallers latest and 7th studio album “Shadows From The Past” released this past August.

“Thanks for taking a look my playthrough of Reapers Hourglass! For those of you who are gear-minded (and let’s face it, who ISN’T): My main kit is a Gretsch Renown and cymbals are a mix of Sabian and Zildjian. This is one of the more technical songs off our new album “Shadows From The Past”, but also my favorite to play. The song is SO technical, in fact, that I routinely have to manifest a wall of drum equipment to contain the sonic force!” says Schlagzeuger.

A true spectacle to be witnessed, LORDS OF THE TRIDENT is a daring adventure metal quintet that has been delighting their audiences and fans all over the world for ten years. Continuing their epic quest of bringing spectacular and entertaining metal to global fans these power metal warriors unleashed their 7th album “Shadows From The Past” on August 3rd, 2018. The album was supported by a kickstarter campaign that went live on June 1st and ended on June 29th. Toronto’s Anthems In Ashes are premiering their second music video on PureGrainAudio.com, this time for the sassy and soulful single “Her Fire” off the 2017 EP “Burn it Down”. It’s a fun, energetic song with catchy melodies and lyrics with a true distorted rock and roll sound blended with a diverse range of vocals encompassing metal, punk and hints of soul. This well produced and artistic video brings fire to the genre, staying groovy and adding a sexy and heavy flair to it.

Vocalist Harley Olivia shares why it is her favourite song to play live:

“We chose “Her Fire” as a single because it demonstrates both our catchy groove and our heavier sounding elements, particularly with the vocals. I like the dichotomy of the soft, pretty sounding vocals descending into guttural monster screams. It’s a great balance of pretty and ugly.”

Anthems in Ashes is a four piece hard rock band brought together by their love of music that is both heavy and high energy. Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, and a style of music they’ve coined as ‘humorcore’. New Album “The Elder’s Anthology” Out October 26th On Test Your Metal Records

Blending a sound that is a complex mix of classical orchestrations, cosmic synths, and extreme metal to portray the epics of parallel worlds, Hickory, NC, based Rapheumets Well (Ra-few-mets) bring forth a voyage enriched with lore, fabricated from scratch to show the depth in which represents them as artists. From the birth of organic matter to great wars that tear the fabric of space/time, the story of Rapheumets Well’s music serves to immerse you into a world of oddities.

Inspired by the fictitious universe of the Atai, Rapheumets Well have unleashed three albums over the years, Dimensions (2014), Exile (2016) and Enders Door (2017) that progressively told a larger story portrayed in a complex saga of the Atai (ancient architects) who aid in the propagation of sentient life throughout the multi-verse. Returning in 2018, the sci-fi metallers are releasing their epic “The Elder’s Anthology” on October 26th on Test Your Metal Records. The release is a trilogy of sorts featuring selective tracks remixed and remastered from their three previous albums.

With new changes and new members, we felt it was important to transpose their skills into the foundation of the band. New Mini-Album Promises A “Roller Coaster of Genres”

Montreal prog quartet FRACTAL CYPHER are getting ready to release their mini-album “Prelude To An Impending Outcome” in November and have just unveiled the artwork and the track listing. This 4 song mini-album promises to be a roller coaster of genres across completely different sounding songs with intimate lyrics influenced by personal experiences.

“Prelude To An Impending Outcome is a mini album of 4 songs that are completely different from one to another to create a maximum roller coaster effect and make it non linear and interesting to listen to. The clash of style is more important and more obvious than our previous album, but the songs have gained in maturity in term of songwriting and sound. The vibe of this album is really more intimate, due to the lyrics and the overall ambiance/universe of the songs. The melodic side of the band is still really present, offering catchy vocal lines and outstanding solos all over the songs.” – FRACTAL CYPHER

Each track has a different prominent genre influence from power ballad, blues, djent and jazz with the band’s heavy and melodic base as an anchor. The album artwork was done by Silent Q Design out of Montreal and foreshadows the moody and existential prog metal that lies within. Although this album is more intimate with different textures and influences, the reception to its predecessor should be a prime indication of the talents of FRACTAL CYPHER; this next release is sure to be a masterwork.

MALACODA brings a fresh interpretation of these themes and artfully bring to life the oppressive, claustrophobic aura of the fog consumed town with deviously clever song-writing and mind-catching lyrics. “Restless Dreams” is a musical release unlike any other. Taking their name from a demon from Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’, Malacoda’s visceral, gothic vision is indeed divine but no laughing matter.Having worked in the music industry for a decade and feeling less than inspired by the overabundance of local thrash and death metal, Malacoda was originally intended to just be Lucas Di Mascio’s recording project. Inspired musically by Type O Negative, Katatonia and Paradise Lost, he wanted an outlet for his dark yet romantic musical ideas. He didn’t expect it to get as far as it has, now as 4 piece band with Vlad Prokhorov (drums), Mickey D Kiss (guitarist), Tiny Basstank (bass) in the ranks they continue to paint horrific and beautiful soundscapes. Malacoda has two albums, “Malacoda” (2014), and “Ritualis Aeterna” (2016), in their archives with a darker, more raw Silent Hill inspired concept album “Restless Dreams” set to be released in October 2018.Vocalist and composer Lucas, who studied Literature and Religion at University, explains: ‘The reason why I chose Malacoda as a band name was for a few reasons. The book, Dante’s Inferno, was a big influence on me as a teenager and young adult. It’s a very powerful piece of literature. I knew I wanted something from that book as a band name, and it’s one of the many names in the book that lent itself to interesting imagery- when you hear “Malacoda” it doesn’t sound like the name of a demon, it sounds like something more elegant and mysterious than horrifying. I wanted a powerful name that fit not only the sound of the band but also the lyrical themes I touch upon. The idea behind the band has always been to “find the beauty within horror”, and I think Malacoda suits that idea.”Like the ‘Inferno’ that inspired their name they forge metal without limits in sonic shapes endless and horrifying in equal measure. Malacoda’s music vision shares much in common with Dante’s, they are unafraid to gaze into the abyss, unafraid to be inspired by the myriad of human horrors within and without. They are not blind to the worlds within them waiting to be born. Full of dark atmosphere, originality and innovation, this is gothic power metal for the 21st century, intelligence and intensity to rival that of their infernal inspirations!
