Montreal, QC – December 13, 2018

For fans of Katatonia, Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Cloudkicker

Enter “The Dark Dimension” w/ Nova Scotia’s Atmospheric Prog MARC DURKEE’s Shredding Guitar Video
via TechnicalMusicReview

New Album “Remain In Stasis” Out January 2019; Album Pre-Order Starts Dec 14th

New Music Video Offers “A Way To Escape”

When an artist uses his own name to present his music to the world, he is being truly fearless, with no identity to hide behind but his own.

This is as it should be, no great art was ever produced without great bravery, and Nova Scotia’s Marc Durkee is an artist unafraid to dig deep into both his own personal suffering, and the world around him for inspiration.

Inspired by Katatonia, Tesseract, Anathema, Devin Townsend, Coheed & Cambria, Durkee describes his music as “a blend of progressive, metal/rock, doom metal, post-hardcore, and post-rock.”

Durkee’s new album, solo in the true sense of the word, is entitled ‘Remain In Stasis’, and is loaded with deep meaning to this courageous and talented artist, as he explains.

“The first meaning is personal. I’ve been stuck in a state of depersonalisation for almost five years now. For me, it’s been a chronic symptom of dealing with years of depression and stress, and it’s unrelenting. When it’s at its worst, it removes mostly all motivation and enjoyment from my life. While that is unfortunate, it does serve as major source of inspiration for song-writing…The second meaning is more political and universal. I feel that humanity is at a unique point in our history, with technology and social media allowing us to communicate and express ourselves in ways that were previously unimaginable. And yet, nobody really DOES communicate. It seems as though it’s mostly used as a platform to bicker over political ideals and agendas and create discourse, or for anyone to use as their own personal performance venue. Everyone wants to be seen and heard, even those who really don’t deserve to be.”

Marc Durkee is one artist who really does deserve to be heard, and with his new guitar playthrough for his second single, he’s shredding fans into “The Dark Dimension”. The single is the first track on the album and it kicks off things from the very first heavy, progressive note and features a catchy chorus plus a technical, synth-laden bridge.

Montreal, QC – December 12, 2018

For fans of Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Black Label Society

Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON Premiere New Video “Take Us All” via Metal-Rules

Out Now! Debut Album “While The Wheels Still Turn” via Rockshots Records

Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON premiere their music video “Take Us All” off the band’s Wild West inspired debut album “While The Wheels Still Turn” released at the beginning of this year via Rockshots Records (EU/NA) and Hellfire Records (AU). If you’re fan of classic metal in the vein of influences such as Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, and Megadeth, then this will be right up your alley.

Watch “Take Us All” via Metal-Rules.com: https://www.metal-rules.com/2018/12/12/metal-rules-com-video-premiere-australian-rockers-greystone-canyon-rockshots-records-hellfire-records/

The band adds:

“The end of mankind is here in the form of Take Us All.  This song is super catchy with its dark melodies and roller coaster dynamics. It’s got a big vocal hook along epic dual guitar solos.”

“While The Wheels Still Turn” is available on Rockshots.eu, iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.

In the 70s and 80s, Australia gave the world great hard rock/metal acts like AC/DC and Rose Tattoo. Now, joining those Aussie giants of rock is GREYSTONE CANYON.

The band released their debut album “While The Wheels Still Turn” on March 9, 2018, in Europe, U.S.A and Canada through Rockshots Records and on Hellfire Records in Australia on March 12, 2018.

The album was tracked at the splendidly named Goatsound Studios in Melbourne, Australia, and then mixed in Canada, making ‘the album a real rock n’ roll frequent flyer. Mixing duties were undertaken by none other than Grammy nominated producer and legend Glen Robinson, who had engineered, mixed and produced equally legendary acts like Annihilator, Queensryche and Voivod.

Inspired by legends like Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth and King Diamond, “While The Wheels Still Turn” is an album that could not only sit well beside the works of those legends, but with the current tsunami of all things 70s and 80s inspired, GREYSTONE CANYON are in the right place at the right time. We are travelling back to the future and they are the soundtrack!

As vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry proudly states.

“We really wanted to make an album similar to old Ozzy Osbourne record where songs like ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Goodbye To Romance’ can sit comfortably. This is music from the heart and soul!”

Track Listing:
1. Keeping Company With The Dead (0:45)
2. Astral Plane (4:13)
3. In These Shoes (4:54)
4. Cinco Cuerda Bandito (1:36)
5. Take Us All (5:11)
6. Sombrero Serenade (1:25)
7. River of Fire (4:35)
8. Path We Stray (4:41)
9. The Sun Sets (6:17)

“Greystone Canyon’s debut is a solid listening experience that should appeal to both fans of Western rock/heavy metal and classic hard rock/heavy metal.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“This album is full of hard-rocking guitar riffs, soulful acoustic guitar, catchy drumming and vocals that are every bit the classic metal you’d expect them to be; all of this is arranged in a way that’s satisfying to the ear.” – Overdrive Mag

“a brilliant album! Very good pieces, a beautiful atmosphere wrap the listener.Give a chance to this band, it will doesn’t disappoint you with their class, good work guys!” – Rockers and Other Animals Mag

“Inspired by classic HR legends,  “While The Wheels Still Turn” is an album that could not only sit well beside the works of those; they’re able to be so various and with a view to the futiue. With a duration of 33 min, we can find six songs and three interludes; this album won’t disappoint you!” – Hard Rock Heavy Metal Mag

“Greystone Canyon has arrived with their debut album, While the Wheels Still Turn, and it is a beauty. A flawless homage to the bands which preceded them and inspired them, this glorious collection of kick ass tracks just teases the senses and reels you in track by track. Mammoth hooks fused with technical brilliance and that old school charm just work so goddamn well, perfectly executed and tasty like momma’s home cooking.” – Rock n’ Load Mag

“The western rock vibe that gets While the Wheels Still Turn started sees the up-tempo Astral Plane grab the attention before In These Shoes delivers head-banging groove. The latter’s deep bassy sound is thrilling.” – Games Brrraaains * A Headbanging Life

“The guitar work on this album is fantastic. But it is the harmonies that catch my attention.  “Path We Stray” has some really cool vocal harmony work that echos the dissonance used in old school Ozzy tracks.  My favorite track on the album, entitled “River of Fire”, has some solid harmony in a slower song that has a really cool build to a heavy ending.” – The Spinning Thoughts

“While The Wheel Still Turn is a strong debut for Greystone Canyon, a fine and entertaining album classic melodic heavy metal with some interesting twists. Recommended.” – Danger Dog Music Reviews

For fans of Meshuggah, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Intervals, Plini, Tesseract

Jason Rodriguez Plunges Into Arachnophobia Distress With Music Video ‘Tarantulas’ via TheCirclePit

Debut Album ‘Heartstrings’ Out Now!

Floridian solo artist Jason Rodriguez has released the first video to compliment his debut full length album ‘Heartstrings’, which was independently released November 6th, 2018. The 10 track instrumental album is primarily heavy, modern metal with splinters of EDM along with aggressive death and thrash metal highlights.

The track, ‘Tarantulas’, is a creepy crawly, abrasive homage to the furry eight legged creatures that send shivers down the spines of some and is recommended for those who like the pulverizing sounds of Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders and Devin Townsend Project.

“I have always been a fan of instrumental heavy music and artists who write instrumental music. This type of music has always attracted a niche audience that is drawn to instrumentation, lyrical phrases, great melodies, and memorable riffs. This is what I set out to create with this album.”

Working on one song at a time, Rodriguez writes all the music for each instrument, striving to personify the title of each track. ‘Heartstrings’ is rife with bizarre heaviness, erratic lines and suspicious melodies that will thrust you out of your comfort zone.

Watch ‘Tarantulas’ video premiere via The Circle Pit at the following link: https://www.thecirclepit.com/2018/12/jason-rodriguez-tarantulas-music-video-world-premiere

ALL ELSE FAILS Returns With New Video ‘A Dream of Names’

New Album ‘The False Sanctuary’ Out Dec 13th As Pay What Ya Want

Canadian metallers All Else Fails are ready to release their new album ‘The False Sanctuary’, coming 2 years after the last critically-acclaimed full length ‘The Forever Lie’. Keeping with their tradition of crushingly heavy and progressive metal they have composed 2 new songs for this album and included 5 B-sides from ‘The Forever Lie’, which were never released digitally.

To accentuate this album they have also released a music video for the first single ‘A Dream of Names’. Technical guitar parts are juxtaposition against melodic vocals in the band’s 10th music video, a moody visual for the thought provoking lyrics that address the current state of the world.

“In a lot of ways this album is at a state of the union address. It’s been 2 years since the release of The Forever Lie, and already the themes of financial corruption, abuse of religious power, and political scandal seem tame. I wrote this one half with a sarcastic smirk, half with an crippling sense that we are well past the point of return.” says Barrett Klesko (vocals, guitar).

Watch ‘A Dream of Names’ at the following links:

The album will be available on December 12th on Bandcamp (pay what ya want), along with stream and download on Spotify, iTunes and online retailers.

Track Listing:
1. A Dream of Names (4:24)
2. Wolves (3:57)
3. Thrice Broken (4:28)
4. The Pause (3:19)
5. Love In The Gloom (4:00)

BIO:

Coming out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, All Else Fails (AEF) is making a mark around the world for their aggressively dark brand of modern metal that is breaking the traditional ideals of their genre. Drawing comparisons to bands like Killswitch Engage, In Flames, and Of Mice and Men, the band infuses their metalcore sound with a variety of elements including experimental riffs, classical melodies, sporadic synth lines, and spoken word sampling to accent a unique vocal blend ranging from heavy gutturals to spine tingling cleans.

Since first getting together in 2006 they have focused on producing a high energy live show that not only sets them apart from their peers, but has garnered them appearances on numerous festivals over the years, including the Unmaad and Alcheringa Fests In India, Vans Warped Tour, Boonstock along with opening spots for artists like Protest the Hero, Cancer Bats, Dayglo Abortions, 3 Inches of Blood, Fear Factory, Threat Signal, Decapitated, Suffocation, Trivium and Arise & Ruin.

Over their highly acclaimed career they have released 3 EPs, 3 full lengths, and a live DVD. AEF is only gaining momentum and they are ecstatic to be adding to this impressive discography in 2018 with the full length ‘The False Sanctuary’.

NORILSK’s New Video Explores What Stays Behind After Someone Vanishes w/ “Weepers of The Land

L-R: Nic M (vocals, bass, guitars), Nick Richer (drums, backing vocals) – Photo credit: Nick Richer

Canadian death / doom duo NORILSK are sharing their new music video for their recently released mini-album’s title track “Weepers of The Land”. Co-written with Longhouse‘s Joshua Cayer whom also added guest vocals, the track is about what stays behind after someone vanishes and is a nod to the expression ‘keepers of the land,’ most often used in an indigenous and/or environment-related context, while referencing a less glorious side of history.

Joshua Cayer explains:

“When we were developing the concept of the track, I had just finished listening to a podcast hosted by Indigenous journalist, Connie Walker, called Missing and Murdered: Who Killed Alberta Williams. Aside from the obvious painful subject matter, what really struck me was the guilt expressed, and carried for all these years, by those closest to Alberta Williams – What if I answered my phone that night? What if I turned around sooner? What if. As a father of two little girls, I couldn’t begin to imagine the deep sorrow that is carried by survivors of our Indigenous women and girls that go missing, or are murdered. I tried to give voice to just a fraction of what those feelings of pain, guilt and failure might feel like to a father or a mother, with the hope of creating better awareness and empathy for the issue of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls in our country.”

Capturing the song’s dark and heavy atmosphere, the video was directed by Erik Labossiere of Wikked Twist Films, whom was given artistic freedom to develop the concept behind its visuals. Showcasing its monumental proportions and slow pace represented both a challenge and an opportunity to transfer the epic extreme doom metal song onto the screen as Labossiere approached it from the perspective of a short movie.

Erik Labossiere comments:

“When creating the video concept for “Weepers” I wanted to create a narrative that could symbolize an array of current issues and motifs. With the core message of corruption and assimilation, I wanted to tell a story that could identify with any situation of oppression and abuse. I also wanted to create characters that each themselves expressed a reaction to these issues. Some see the plight of our world and react with indifference, with silence, with reinforcement, and some push to create hope. In my opinion, there is only one monster in this video, and everyone else exists within the grey, and it is up to the viewer to reflect on this and question which role they play.”

Coming off the heels of their latest full-length album “Le passage des glaciers”, this fall the Canadian Death-Doom act Norilsk returns with a collection of new material linked in concept with its previous full-length while also showcasing Norilsk’s more collaborative and multi-faceted nature. It retains the band’s signature sound developed on its two full-length albums, and brings forward further openess to an array of doom-related influences. The new mini-album, entitled “Weepers of the Land” is made up of four new compositions as well as a Mylene Farmer cover song (Tomber 7 fois), previously released in Russia on a limited edition compilation CD, and completely remixed. The new compositions include collaborations with other Canadian musicians including Damian Smith (Altars of Grief), Joshua Cayer (Longhouse), Ben Forte (North East Bistro, TGRE), and long-time collaborator Mort Marion (Outrage AD, Blood Moon Knights). “Weepers of the Land” should be viewed as a companion album to “Le passage des glaciers” as the songs were written and recorded during the same time period. The album will be presented in a 4 panel digipack with artwork from William Blair Bruce (Canadian painter, 1859-1906) and released worldwide on October 12, 2018.

“The band relies on an icy death-doom that subtly adds touches of sludge.” – Metal Injection

“Whether you like your doom depressing, relaxing, or both, Weepers of the Land is ready to serve.” – The Metal Crypt

“Hardcore doom fans may like Norilsk’s latest because it is molded with an eye to old-school doom records; seldom does the album go past a glacial pace, with even the stylistic flourishes never distracting the duo’s strong suit.” – The Sludgelord

“This is music for the haunted place, the celebration of nature, in all its contemporary insecurity and all its past destructive beauty.” – Echoes and Dust

“Remember when I mentioned how Canadian winters never seem to end? That’s what this sounds like. You’ve just realized you’re socked into another deep freeze… You look up at the blotted sky and waver at the tremendous wintry grip displayed before you. Winter is harsh, unforgiving and indifferent to anything you might know, want or care about yet also displays a raw beauty for those willing to venture it. Norilsk understands and Norilsk delivers.” – Doom-Metal.com

“Le passage des glaciers is a well-crafted and thoughtfully composed doom and death metal record. The band have further refined their sound in a way that feels effortless and honest, all while hinting at future possibilities.” – Exclaim! (Review 2017 Le passage des glaciers)

“Norilsk’s debut has exactly what it takes to land this band a spot in any doom metal fan’s list of bands to look out for.” – Heavy Blog is Heavy (Review 2015 – The Idea of North)

“It’s one thing to write good music; it’s a whole other thing to invent a new language, a new aesthetic, where song writing, atmosphere and individuality coalesce and give birth to this strange new kid on the block.” – Chronicles of Chaos

Montreal, QC – December 7, 2018

OLKOTH Ft. Members From (Nile, Rapheumets Well, Xael) Unleash Debut Single ‘Imperfect Reanimation’

Self-Titled Debut Album Coming 2019

A fresh and haunting approach to death metal comes in the form of  OLKOTH, a new project founded in South Carolina by guitarist Zach Jeter, bassist Brad Parris (Nile), drummer Joshua Ward (Rapheumets Well, Xael) and guitarist Hunter Ross (Rapheumets Well).

They are set to release their debut, self titled album early in 2019 and to entice the masses they offer their first single and video ‘Imperfect Reanimation’.

Coined as dynamic, cold and haunting, inspiration for the band grew from elements of the occult, history of war and corruption, and Lovecraftian fiction. The single is a ferocious exhibition of the power, speed and unbridled aggression that OLKOTH will quickly be reputed for.

Listen to the debut of ‘Imperfect Reanimation’ via Decibel Magazine at the following link: https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2018/12/07/track-premiere-olkoth-imperfect-reanimation/

Jeter tells listeners what they can expect from the upcoming album:

“Our unique blend of styles and approach to writing we believe will be well received. Our goal is to bring a newness and originality that will be a breath of fresh air in the death metal community.” He continues to explain their new single and future plans: “we will give the fans a taste of the sheer brutality we incorporate as well as the dynamic changes and atmosphere within our music. With further releases we will expand on that style and show our unique mix of violent riffs and diverse emotional themes.”

The single was produced and mixed by Joshua Ward and Zach Jeter at Elder Verse Studio.

For fans of Vader, Morbid Angel, Emperor, Dark Funeral and Belphegor.

Malamorte; the side project of Alex Nunziati (Lord Vampyr, Cain, Nailed God, Shadowsreign, Sepolcrum, ex VII Arcano, ex Theatres des Vampires) is a ferocious evil metal band hailing from Italy. Telling tales of the occult, mysticism and more with a back drop of power, thrash and black metal, the band will be offering their third full length “Hell For All” via Rockshots Records on January 25, 2019 (Europe) and February 8, 2019 (North America). Ready to resurrect the “Antichrist”, the band is sacrificing their first lyric video in support of the album at the following link:

“Hell For All” was written as a cohesive album, with each song being composed in a complementary fashion to the rest of the tracks. Compared to their 2016 album “Devilish Illusions”, this new record brings more thrash and power elements as the band deviates from their black metal origins.

Keeping the listener in mind, Malamorte desires to formulate a trip, one that “alternates hard times to more reflective or lighter moments” and can be played on repeat with each new listen creating a new perspective. Quality and energy are the primary focuses for these Italians, who allow their fans to escape into an alternate reality and cite influences from a broad range of musical greats including Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Iron Maiden and Slayer.

“A lesson in progressive rock” – Rocksound (UK)

“fiery, soaring, and thought-provoking heavy prog-/post-rock” – Rebel Noise

“Atlas : Empire has produced an album that is glued with beautiful instrumental and chill vibes for a weekend unwind. Overall the album is definitely worth a listen if you are a fan of early Incubus, early Thrice, or Minus the Bear.” – Boston Rock Radio

“The band show an impressive versatility throughout the record as they straddle various genres with ease. Post-hardcore sits neatly alongside the Maybeshewill inspired post-rock…” – abadgeoffriendship.com

“They hit you with a wall of sound, that has a slightly Math feel to it. The tracks have a lot of overlapping phrases, but with darker tones to the guitars, it almost feels like Deftones and Arcane Roots had a lovechild and raised it in ‘Bonnie’. Both vocalists lighten the mood and play upon a subtle gaelic charm in between tracks…There’s just the right level of melody combined with guitar-wrecking aggression for them to stand out in the Glasgow scene.” – threesongsandout.com
