NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 11, 2019

For fans of Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Poison, RATT, Cinderella

Rockshots Records: SANDNESS Release New Music Video “Tyger Bite” + New Album “Untamed” Out June 2019

New Album “Untamed” Out June 14th via Rockshots Records

Italian classic 80’s hair metal inspired band SANDNESS have released their new music video “Tyger Bite” in support of their third studio album “Untamed” due out on June 14, 2019 via Rockshots Records. The album features a completely renewed and modern sound of eleven new catchy and sleazy songs to add to the band’s catalog from their two previous releases on Sleazy Rider Records 2016’s “Higher & Higher” and 2013’s “Like An Addiction”.

Vocalist/guitarist Robby Luckets comments:

“‘Untamed’ is a very melodic hard and heavy album. The people who are acquainted with our sound and that are waiting for our comeback won’t be disappointed. At the same time, this album can also be appreciated by people who have never heard our music or specific genre. We tried to keep a sound with more variety and add catchier, more modern songs mixed with heavier and sleazier ones. We also think that this album shows how much we have grown as musicians and as a band, even though we are sure there’s plenty more to learn and to explore.”

And bassist Mark Denkley adds:

“If you compare this album to the previous one, one of the first things you notice is that Untamed is more straightforward, shorter and more lighthearted: the main thing we want is for people to have fun when they listen to it. Most of the lyrics are about partying and enjoying life in general. However, you will still find some songs with a deeper meaning. We have one against bullying, one about finding the strength to fight back when life gives you lemons, and one about keeping the good rock’n’roll spirit alive through the younger generations.”

SANDNESS has also taken their twist on 80’s inspired hard and heavy metal across Europe with multiple tours and festivals in Latvia, France, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium and the Netherlands along with sharing the stage with acts such as Tygers Of Pan Tang, Reckless Love, Hell In The Club, L.A. Guns, Adam Bomb and more.

Canada’s WEST OF HELL recently released their new album Blood Of The Infidel on April 1, 2019, which is now being supported by “The Infidels Tour” across Canada. Delivering a unique form of heavy metal with a wide range of influences from power, death and prog metal to thrash, groove and classic metal, WEST OF HELL ignores genre standards and puts their all into an insane live show.  For those who have never seen a WEST OF HELL performance, it’s not one to be missed. The combination of thrash metal riffs with modern progressive elements and power metal-esque vocals from Chris ‘The Heathen’ Valagao command the stage with a magnificent presence while literal sparks fly everywhere.

Blood of The Infidel is the band’s sophomore album, following the well-received Spiral Empire from 2012. The band’s next video ‘The Machine’ is being premiered on Decibel Magazine to follow their three videos ‘Chrome Eternal’, ‘Infidels’ and ‘Hammer and Hand’  to show fans an idea of the madness that will come from this powerhouse of a record.

Watch ‘The Machine’ at the following link: https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2019/04/10/video-premiere-west-of-hell-the-machine/

The band comments:

“The video for ‘The Machine’ is a visual interpretation of the rise of the machine brain. The band itself is digitized and become pawns of the Titan digital overlord. Chris (Heathen) Valagao along with Joseph Klymkiw produced and directed a unique vision of our cyber overlord. VR, 3D modeling, pyrotechnics, extreme body modification, suspension and traditional cinematography all come together in an extraordinary way to tell the tale of humanities uncertain future.”

About:

West of Hell is a band that delivers a unique form of heavy metal with a wide range of influences from power, death and prog metal to thrash, groove and classic metal. Band members first connected in the mid-2000s in West Auckland, New Zealand. Andrew Hulme (drums), Ivan Vrdoljak (guitars), and Sean Parkinson (guitars) started practicing together and soon found a bassist in Jordan Kemp. As they honed their skills, without a vocalist, the decision was made to relocate as a group to a larger market.

In 2009, they moved to Vancouver, BC, Canada. Still, in search of a vocalist, they were eventually led to Chris ‘The Heathen’ Valagao, frontman of Zimmers Hole. With Valagao on board (vocals) and a complete set of songs ready to record, Spiral Empire was released in 2012 via Reversed Records, followed by a tour in New Zealand and extensive touring in Canada. Valagao, using his experience as a cinematographer and SPFX artist, produced and directed two music videos for the tracks “Faceless the Droids” and “Water of Sorcery.”

Although the members had hoped to progress as a band and remain based in Canada, unfortunately, it wasn’t viable for some. Ivan left the band in early 2011 and Andrew left in 2014, both returning to NZ. Kris Schulz, a key figure in introducing the band to Valagao, was approached to join the band in 2014. His guitar playing and personality brought an exciting new twist to the band’s sound. With drummer Paul Drummond stepping in as a committed member, West of Hell has its strongest line-up to date. In conjunction with touring in support of sophomore album Blood of the Infidel, writing fresh new music for the band’s third album is well underway. The evolution of West of Hell’s sound continues!

West of Hell is:
Chris Valagao – Vocals
Sean Parkinson – Lead Guitar
Kris Schulz – Lead Guitar
Jordan Kemp – Bass
Paul Drummond – Drums

“Blood Of The Infidels enhances every aspect of their previous effort, upping the technical wizardry; improving the songwriting; trimming the fat and generally crafting one of the best albums of 2019. I’m not even kidding, this record keeps me coming back for more and more – and providing something new with every listen.” – 9.5/10 – Metal Observer

“Those melodies, those vocals (honestly, the guy is from Zimmers Hole who are one of my favorites based both on the music and his excellent voice). The whole package is a wonder to behold and I’m only one-track in. Instant attention grabber!” – Cult Metal Flix

“This band is just something else, I tell ya! The instrumentation is quite a beast. A hard, thrashing vibe engulfs this heavy metal riffamaggedon with both a technical and shred spirit. Thrash, traditional heavy metal, shred and a bit of technical metal all coexist and thrive. The rhythm section by itself is something to hear and the guitars, well, they will make you bang your head, of course. You have to hear this singer. You don’t hear singers like this every day! Strong powerful singing, and raging screams that sound good.” – Metal Bulletin

About:

Featured in publications such as Metal Hammer and Billboard, Metalocalypstick Fest not only celebrates women in metal but also gives back to the community. Formed in 2016 as a non-profit organization, they are dedicated to raising funds and donating 100% of proceeds to local charities Girls Rock Camp, Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter, and Earth Protectors plus they sponsor an independent band picked by Metalocalypstick Fest judges.

The festival was founded by Kaija Kinney of Vancouver’s Anarcheon after researching a lack of female based metal festivals to apply her band to, Kinney took matters into in her own and decided to produce the event.

“This festival means the celebration of both sexes coming together and creating something amazing. People like to say women in metal aren’t a big deal anymore and that we are all the same. I feel that is untrue, this is still a male dominated world and woman are still looked as lesser. I want to showcase all these bad ass ladies and celebrate the differences of men and woman rather than pretend we are all equal. Truth is we are different why can’t we celebrate that?” says Kinney.

Full of heavy hooks, catchy choruses and brutal breakdowns the single shows both the bands punk and hardcore influences, starting with the melodic bass work which is followed by screams and breakdowns.“Defenseless” follows the 2017 EP “Checkmate” and will sound a bit different according to the band:

“Since the EP, we are definitely more mature than our first release. We’re used to working with each other and we’re all motivated to try new things.”

As one of the punkier tracks on the album, the band plays with the sound while maintaining a close to heart theme as the band explains:

BIO:

Ripping out of Gatineau, Canada, Fractures & Outlines are a post-hardcore band with influences ranging from Silverstein, No Use For A Name and Killswitch Engage.

The band came together in 2014 and work tirelessly planting their feet in the local underground music scene. Today the lineup consists of Nicholas Boudreault (vocals), Mathieu Frechette (drums/vocals), Eric Desormeaux (guitar/vocals), Maxime Rondeau (guitar), and Maurice Emond Jr. (bass). Intrepidly, they created their first EP ‘Checkmate’ in 2017, which was met with solid acclaim from various publications.

Since first taking the stage in 2014, Fractures & Outlines have played a whirlwind of local shows and festival including Rock Revolt 2017, Floodfest 2017, and Hullfest 2018. They have shared the stage with bands such as Sworn Enemy, Obey The Brave and Mass Hysteria.

As a team, the band works on each song together crafting heavy hooks, catchy choruses and brutal breakdowns with lyrical themes about internal struggle and having to fight your own demons. Each member brings a different set of musical influences to the table, making Fractures & Outlines stand out in the genre.

Working to further develop a sound that is their own, they hit the studio in 2018 to start work on their 10 track full length ‘Defenseless’, which will be revealed on May 17, 2019.

“An interesting choice to the lineup, as the other bands were of the deathcore / melodic metal genre. However, what they lacked in genre similarity they made up for in energy. This was highlighted by their cover of Alexisonfire “This Could Be Anywhere in the World“, which I and the crowd were taken aback by. Not only did they do the cover well, but they got the crowd engaged and were eager to mosh and sing along to it.” – Splice Media Group

In anticipation of their second EP “La Foi, La Loi, La Croix” ready for the world on May 31, 2019, Montreal’s THRASH LA REINE is releasing their single “Du Sang Sur Les Plaines”.

Not taking themselves too seriously, they describe themselves as Francophone satirical epic thrash, but ultimately let the audience decide where they fit in in the metal scene. Focusing on telling a story with each track and paying close attention to the song structure and how the listener will be escorted through each thrasher. Exclusively in French and following their 2017 EP “Le Metal Est Notre Langue”, the band opens up about their sound on their 2019 follow up “La Foi, La Loi, La Croix”:

“We’re not reinventing anything, but at the same time, we think we’re offering something that sounds new and refreshing. The EP has a good variety of songs. Some songs are faster, some are more mid-tempo. Overall, we have really fast and quick songs and also more epic songs that are almost nine minutes long.”

With obvious musical influences from the likes of Metallica, Iron Maiden and Iced Earth, THRASH LA REINE take lyrical inspiration from current events and real life. In the case of this Maiden-esque single “Du Sang Sur Les Plaines” they explain:

“‘Du Sang Sur Les Plaines’ is a historical song (à la Maiden) about the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City during 1759 and is structured in a narrative way. We are proud to share an interesting part of our heritage in this song.”

“Du Sang Sur Les Plaines” is streaming at the following link: https://youtu.be/41yWekV6ucY

“La Foi, La Loi, La Croix” will be released on May 31, 2019 and available for pre-order on Bandcamp.

BIO:

Thrash La Reine is a Montreal-based French heavy metal trio founded in 2017. In their music, they comprise styles of their main influences of thrash and power metal as well as paying homage to their home city and the francophone punk bands that were notorious in the Montreal scene during their college years. In each song, they mix the epic themes of power metal with the social topics of punk and thrash metal to make a style that they dubbed ‘’Epic Thrash’’.

In 2017, in their home studio, they recorded a first EP called ‘’Le Metal Est Notre Langue’’. Since then, they have opened for artists such as Judas Priestess (US) and Tim Ripper Owen (US). In 2018, a second EP ‘’La Foi, La Loi, La Croix’’ was recorded. The recording and mixing were done at Studio Wild with Pierre Rémillard (Anonymus, Cryptopsy) and mastered in the summer by Jacob Hansen in Denmark. The EP is now ready to hit mosh pits around the world with a release date on May 31, 2019.

New Album “Headbanging Forever” Out May 10, 2019 via Rockshots Records

Long-running Italian groove thrash metallers EXTREMA will be releasing their seventh studio album, “Headbanging Forever” on May 10, 2019 via Rockshots Records/Universal Music.

EXTREMA vocalist Tiziano Spigno comments:

“I’m really excited for ‘For the Loved and the Lost’ being the first single taken from the new album, as it’s one of my favorite tracks. It is a tribute to the friends and the great artists who left us in the last years. The lyrics are full of quotes and I believe that fans will have fun trying to sort them out. The chorus takes inspiration from the Vikings prayer to Odin before the battle and I really hope this will become a great aggregation moment during the next shows, with all the fans raising their glasses of beer, paying tribute to all these terrific artists and their immortal art.”

Those who pre-order the album digitally will receive the single “For The Loved And The Lost” instantly from the following links:

Founding member and guitarist Tommy Massara adds:

“It’s a 100% Metal Album that leaves the listeners breathless. The songs are well balanced, there’s a lot of double bass, tempo changes and screaming lead guitar solos like in the old days. The songwriting of the album feels classic with a modern production.”

Bio:

EXTREMA’s original line-up was established between 1985 and 1986 in Milan, Italy. In a very short time, the band led by guitars player Tommy Massara achieved a huge success. Tommy is the only remaining member of the original line-up, and over the years he also played the role of artistic and executive producer.

Hundreds of concerts made the band more and more close-knit and open towards a constant growth path, capable from the beginning of welcoming influences external to heavy metal, a consistent choice within an evolutionary framework which saw EXTREMA start from the rebellious attitude of MOTÖRHEAD to later incorporate the style of Californian thrash metal, a scene with which the band shared the utmost care for the technical side of music and a devastating presence on stage.

The band’s reputation as musicians and performers kept growing in a perpetual live context, with extensive tours and the participation to prestigious festivals with the likes of METALLICA, SLAYER, MOTÖRHEAD, and KORN, a.o.

Extraneous from the beginning to political and ideological implications of any kind, EXTREMA’s lyrics have always strived to alternate challenging and contemporary themes with lighter subjects, true to rock’n’roll form.

In May 2017 the band welcomed the new frontman Tiziano Spigno. Thanks to his entry, EXTREMA can finally release all the creativity repressed in recent years: a violent, direct and engaging approach which is – at the same time – also varied, courageous and experimental, resulting in the new album “Headbanging Forever”.

EXTREMA is:
Tiziano “Titian” Spigno – Vocals
Tommy Massara – Guitars
Gabri Giovanna – Bass
Francesco “Frullo” Larosa – Drums

Quebec City’s THE FLAYING recently unleashed their assaulting sophomore album “Angry, Undead” via PRC Music this past March. Working with Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy at The Grid in Montreal, QC, the album is pure mayhem for their fastest and most brutal debauchery to date. The concept of “Angry, Undead” is an intricate one with each of the eight songs falling under a distinct axis: Chaos (social manifestations); Madness (individual manifestations); and Void (existential manifestations). It is brutal, instinctive, unique, and wicked, and is recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Archspire, Suffocation, and Deicide.

Teaming up with TheCirclePit.com, the band continues their savagery with their new video for “Genuflect”, a ferocious track with blast beats and the signature Waltz Blast by drummer Mike Bélanger along with low ends grooves and lead melodies, tapping, slapping, popping and soloing by bassist Sebastien Marrier-Verret, plus relentless guitar shredding by Didier Samson and brute vocals from William Murray.

BIO:

And it all began with the rope dancer….

Formed in July 2010, The Flaying is a death metal band based in Quebec City, Canada that focuses on fluid melodic construction of songs featuring brutal sections which are further complemented by vocals with both low end growls and hateful high pitches.

Since their first release Unhope (2014), Seb, Did, Wil and Mike are forging ahead in order to adopt a more brutal approach: adding new grooves, a greater velocity, and creating a wider ambiance as well as keeping breakdowns and progressive parts with counterpoints constructing a main theme of anger and a general hate of humanity.

Soldiering on with the philosophy of one band, four individuals, four personalities to collide, the writing process is a team effort initially seeing the band collaborate on riffs and groove ideas, adding a flourish of low-end colors, and blending the whole thing together with flying vocals that create a manifest of pure mayhem. This product of this steadfast diablerie will be realized on March 22, 2019, when the second album “Angry, Undead” is unleashed on PRC Music.

The guitarist Didier Samson is already called “Master” in his profession of criminal lawyer, but it is under the title of “masters of the metal” that he and his three acolytes of the death metal band The Flaying aspire with their second album Angry, Undead which appears March 22 on the emerging label PRC Music.”

“True to the band’s name, the music of The Flaying will slash the skin from your face in paroxysms of blood-spraying savagery. But it does more than that. It will also suck the air from your lungs, boil the brain, and hammer your bones into fragments fine enough to blow away in the wind.” – No Clean Singing

“Angry, Undead is quite a number, I am really digging these addictive and mesmerizing death metal tunes and I am quite sure most of you technical and progressive death metal fans out there will feel the same about this album once you have checked this out. The Flayingis definitely a band to keep an eye and an ear on!” – Lords of Metal

“Solid and thoroughly enjoyable, The Flaying make a name for themselves on their second album. Angry, Undead is never at a loss for momentum and rage, and still manages to tickle your ears with its massive grooves and musical prowess.” – Dead Rhetoric

“It is a savage, brutish and barbaric death metal album emphasized by the nasty groove of Elegy of Emptiness and the booming Angry, Unleashed. A fine addition to any death metal fan’s collection.” – Games, Brrrains & A Head-Banging Life

“I can happily say that if you’re a fan of that classic balls to the wall thrash metal sound then you will most certainly get a kick out of Infrared’s “Saviours”… a prime example of what thrash metal is and what it should always be. These Canadian thrashers have stayed true to the sounds they knew when they were in their earlier years and have bought that sound back to the modern era.”  – Overdrive Music Magazine

“It is an excellent album, killer thrash with NWOBHM melodic sensibilities, proper singing, hooks, the full nine yards!” – Hellbound
“a savage and brutal journey of eighties inspired thrash metal, laden with heaviness and menace, heads will be banging hard from start to finish.” – Metal Gods TV“Their new album Saviours is a thrash party from beginning to end.” – Rock Portaal
“These guys play a heavy/thrash hybrid that’s highly melodic and at times is so damn catchy, some of the songs just stick in your head after the first listen. ” – The Metal Crypt
