Extreme metal outfit Autumn Lies Buried is unleashing its blistering new single “Debt of Silence,” accompanied by a music video. The track serves as the first glimpse into the band’s upcoming EP “Mob Mentality,” scheduled for release on June 6th, 2025, via Exitus Stratagem Records. “Debt of Silence” delivers the band’s signature combination of breakneck energy, socially conscious lyrics, and unrelenting heaviness that fans have come to expect. Vocalist Kaelin Wilkins comments:

“Given the current political climate of the US, I felt it necessary to write about silencing a lot of them. I felt like America just needs a hard reset, and it starts by not giving these fascists in free-world clothing the clout they have. They owe us a debt of silence. A ritual dismemberment of corrupt leadership. Cutting of the tongue is symbolic as well as literal.”

Autumn Lies Buried continues to evolve their sound, which draws from a diverse palette of influences including slam, mathcore, hardcore, hip hop, and deathcore. The result is what the band describes as “a beating with a cinder block’ that creates a cathartic experience for listeners.”

This release marks the beginning of an exciting summer for Autumn Lies Buried, with another single planned for May and the full EP release coinciding with the kickoff of their Hell Howler Tour alongside Casket Robbery, My Own Will and Australia’s Nicolas Cage Fighter on June 6th. They are recommended for fans of Whitechapel, Suicide Silence, and Tech n9ne.

RED CAIN Drops New Single “FWAB” (Fire, Water, Air, Blood) Ahead of Hyperspace Metal Fest Performance!

Set to perform at this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC on April 10th, power prog storytellers RED CAIN are unveiling their new single “FWAB” (Fire Water, Air, Blood). With its heavy balalaika breakdown, downtuned heavy riffs, and soaring harmonized choruses among atmospheric industrial synth backing, “FWAB” hits hard and never lets go – a primeval ritual chant in front of cold stone, on a frozen steppe, among howling winds.

The band explains the story of the track in further detail:

“In the frozen Eastern European steppes, there stood a fell ancient god. Every ill word fed him, and every ill deed made him more potent. For millennia, he grew strong through kingship over mortal ill will, suffering, and pride, until his nourishment took a new form, unable to feed or strengthen. Without nourishment, the god was powerless, and without power, he slept. After millennia, fed full by ill words and ill deeds, searching for an awakening, the god demands the symbols of his power: Fire, Water, Air, Blood. Join the ritual sacrament of Chernobog. With this new release, the Slavic pagan ritual to call forth the “Black God” takes flight, asking the listener what they would be willing to change their fate.”

Red Cain will be performing on night one of this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC, on April 10th at The Cobalt alongside Glyph, Tower Hill, Serpent Rider, and Crüzer. Full details on the Hyperspace Metal Festival being held from April 10th to 12th can be found at https://www.facebook.com/HyperspaceMetalFestival

Red Cain, from Calgary, Canada, is a modern progressive metal project with Eastern European roots. They have been making waves since their first release in 2016, with award-winning music videos and concept albums “Kindred: Act I”, “Kindred: Act II,” and “NÄE’BLISS”. The albums contained a ton of genre inspirations, from gothic rock to ambient electronica, power, black, and death metal, and were universally lauded for their inventiveness, variety, and strong conceptual content. They continue this momentum with forthcoming releases.

“NAE’ BLISS is a fine example of world-class Metal. With every album they grow in statue and status they can stand shoulder to shoulder with the titans of the genre.” – Metal-Rules (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“Red Cain continue their evolutionary path with NÄ̈E’BLISS, taking us all on a fantastic and metallic journey that will surely help them carve their name even deeper into the metal scene worldwide.” – The Headbanging Moose (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“they come up with elements of melodeath, symphonic-, prog- and powermetal, melted together by the expressive vocal performance of singer Evgeniy Zayarny, who convinces with his full tone and an impressive range… “Näe’bliss” is well written, varied and dynamic, telling the stories about a common “good” against an “evil” antagonist in a great way.” – The Prog Space (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“What a masterpiece! In my last review, I gave my first 10/10 and called it my album of the year. That place has already been overtaken.” – Musipedia of Metal (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“Canadians Red Cain took on the mammoth task of turning Robert Jordan’s works of the Wheel of Time series into an album… Needless to say the Power Prog band delivers an ambitious album filled with twists and turns that will keep you on your toes!” – Belgian Jasper (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“Red Cain has made by far the best Wheel Of Time-related piece of art that I’ve seen or heard since before November 18, 2021. Sour grapes aside, this is some energetic power metal worthy of the source material.” – Metal Utopia (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“Red Cain combine with clean singing and growling vocals on opener “Fisher King.” Much of Nae Bliss has a fresh modern sound (“Blight” and the gothic “The Great Hunt”) and some modern groove (“Sightblinder”)… The modern metal here reminds me of Iced Earth and Nevermore which has some excellent clean vocals. ” – Transcending the Mundane (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“this is an album to explore if you tend to enjoy a more theatrical and bombastic variety of progressive metal.” – Progressor (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“If you’re into the symphonic side of metal, then this is a must have album.” – Smorg Magazine (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“As such Red Cain uses Näe’bliss to showcase the slickest noodling and power grooving of their career… Red Cain hasn’t yet made an album for the ages in this modern expression of classic prog/power exuberance, but each record thus far has swung for the fences and landed in good graces—stop sitting around and spin some Red Cain!” – Angry Metal Guy (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“you’ll still feel the mighty pull of Power Metal all over the record. But the progressive parts now start to encroach on soundscapes bands like Haken or Caligula’s Horse3) usually usurp. And that leaves us with an uncannily savvy power prog mix with an unholy urge for unusual extreme metal undercurrents on full display. And that led – yet again – to overheated turntables over at the RMR office tower. Red Cain are back and in full swing yet again, feisty as ever. And as well they should be. So, where’s that bookshop? Robert Jordan’s fantasy lore’s beckoning us.” – Rock Music Raider (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“With Näe’bliss, Red Cain has created their own progressive metal epic fantasy that is fuelled with blast beats, howling guitars, wailing vocals, and rumbling bass. The intricate lyrics tell their own tales and have captured the essence of the adversaries and nemesis of the story. Perhaps for me, storyline aside, is the wonderful vocal dynamic between Evgeniy Zayarny and Kalie Yan and how they play off each other in a beautiful tit for tat of clean versus harsh and singing versus operatic as if they were the protagonist and antagonist. Let the chaos reign supreme, crank Näe’bliss to 11.” – Amplify The Noise (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

““Fisher King,” is a monstrous opening, a song that tempts the deliverance and brings the power of brilliance and chaos of the whirlwind…. “Fires of Heaven,” is bombastic, powerful, enchanting and downright haunting. A song that smashes through everything.” – The Median Man (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

Brazilian brutal death metal veterans Ophiolatry have officially signed with WormHoleDeath Records and announced the release of their highly anticipated new album “Serpent’s Verdict”, set to drop on June 6, 2025. The band has also released a teaser for the album, giving fans their first glimpse into what promises to be a devastating release in extreme metal. They comment on the brutality:

“The album delves into themes of spiritual revenge, indigenous resistance, and the clash between ancient traditions and imposed beliefs. Inspired by real events in the Amazon, mythology, and existential suffering, the lyrics paint vivid scenes of war, punishment, and transcendence through pain. Each song tells a story, whether it be about warriors resurrected for revenge, the wrath of serpent gods, or the fall of oppressive ideologies. The words are raw, intense, and unrelenting, reflecting the chaotic brutality of the music itself.”

This signing marks a significant milestone for Ophiolatry, whose last full-length album “Transmutation” was released in 2008 through Forces of Satan Records/Regain Records. After a period of careful composition and development, the band returns with renewed purpose and vision, channeling the raw energy that established them as pioneers of South American extreme metal while evolving their distinctive sound. The album represents a departure from the relentless technicality of “Transmutation” while preserving the band’s signature brutality and expanding their sonic palette.

The album functions as a sonic ritual—a brutal, immersive descent into cycles of destruction, revenge, and rebirth. Each track serves as a chapter in this narrative, combining aggressive riffs, guttural vocals, and tribal rhythms inspired by ancient warrior traditions. It is recommended for fans of Morbid Angel, Death, and Deicide.

“According to Merriam-Webster, “ophiolatry” means “the worship of or attribution of divine or sacred nature to snakes.” You can certainly feel the snakes of death metal surround you as you listen to “Abyss of Alienation” from Brazil’s Ophiolatry, featuring hypnotic riffs, brutal vocals, and crushing rhythms reminiscent of Hate Eternal, Nile and Steve Tucker-era Morbid Angel. The song is a re-recording of a track from the band’s 2008 album, Transmutation.” – Decibel Magazine (2023 Single – Abyss of Alienation)

“Hailing from Brazil comes Ophiolatry, a three-piece powerhouse of a brutal death metal band whose bread-and-butter sound comprises blistering drumming and technical guitar lines set against a suffocating and claustrophobic sonic backdrop.” TheMetalForge

“Ophiolatry will reward the open-minded metal head with an inflection of national culture, post-modernism and, of course, stunningly brutal death metal.” – Sputink Music

“…Relentless blastbeats and truly brutal guitar work that have the ability to pummel the listener into a fine powder.” – Scene Point Blank

“[…] similar technical versatile approach on Death Metal as defined by KRISIUN but where the latter still have a disappointing song writing quality OPHIOLATRY have more feel, more structure and variation.” – Voices from the Dark Side

“[…] you’ve got yourself another nice brutal death metal band, comparable with (older work of) for example the Brazilian bands Krisiun, Mental Horror and Nephasth, as well as North American’s Monstrosity and Vital Remains – who came up in my mind because of the guitar virtuosity.” – Metal Rage

“A Lendária banda de Brutal Death Metal Ophiolatry está de volta as atividades.” – Brazil Legion Nekrounderground

0 REALITY GREY Commemorate Metal Icon’s Birthday – Children of Bodom’s Alexi Laiho – With Cover Of “Hate Crew Deathroll”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 8, 2025

REALITY GREY Commemorate Metal Icon’s Birthday – Children of Bodom’s Alexi Laiho – With Cover Of “Hate Crew Deathroll”

Italian melodic death metal powerhouse Reality Grey has announced the upcoming release of their cover of Children of Bodom‘s iconic track “Hate Crew Deathroll”, scheduled to drop on April 8th, the birthday of the late Alexi Laiho. Children of Bodom was one of the most influential bands for Reality Grey, especially during their early days, and this cover is nothing short of a tribute. While they’ve developed their style over the years, they think fans will appreciate their return to a classic ‘old school/mid-2000s’ sound, which they still love. They comment on the cover:

“This is our tribute to Alexi Laiho and Children of Bodom. “Hate Crew Deathroll” was a pivotal moment in our lives as musicians, as we had just started out as a band in 2003. We kept the song close to the original, which is something we usually won’t do; we like to add our own spin and mix things around. I think we succeeded in keeping the “fuck you” attitude of the original song.”

Hailing from South Italy and formed in 2004, Reality Grey has established themselves as a formidable force in the Italian metal scene. The five-piece band is known for its distinctive blend of melody and brutality, combining complex yet catchy songwriting with fearsome death growls, clean vocals, razor-sharp guitar riffs, and fusion-oriented solos. They are recommended for fans of Children of Bodom, Meshuggah, and Soilwork..

“Melodic, aggressive and catchy, this track adds (Multidimensional Hollow) well placed synths and ambiance to an already well rounded sound, making it complex without being overcomplicated. The new album shows a marked evolution in the band’s sound, something that will intrigue current fans and entice new ones.” – Metal Injection (Beneath This Crown 2021)

“Beneath this Crown, a creative step forward in their combination of NWOAHM from the early aughts, At the Gates-inspired metalcore and Scandinavian-flavoured melodic death metal.” – Decibel Magazine (Beneath This Crown 2021)

“Reality Grey give off a viciousness and expertise hard to find in other bands. The instrumental expertise of each component is absolute, slighting touching tech-death side of acts like The Faceless but remaining ‘catchy’ in their complexity” – Metal Hammer (Beneath This Crown 2021)

“It’s complete and total aural devastation with some seriously chunky moments, so it lives right up to what you’d expect a song called “The Void” to do.” – Metal Injection (Beneath This Crown 2021)

“Reality Grey will serve the world of metal excellently both as an all round, no nonsense, metal act and as a brigde band for younger fans of heavy music” – Metalunderground.at (Beneath This Crown 2021)

Vancouver, B.C., Canada’s premier melodic and power metal festival, HYPERSPACE METAL FEST, returns for its 6th edition after another year of crowd-pleasing epic fun.

Being hosted at The Cobalt (April 10 &11th) and the Rickshaw Theatre (April 12th), Hyperspace Metal Fest’s 2025 lineup features headliners ENFORCER, PSYCHOSTICK, Greyhawkalong with Crimson Shadows, Lunar, AfterTime, Tower Hill, Solarus, Red Cain, Tylor Dory Trio, Serpent Rider, Luminator, The Astral Prophets and Crüzer.

Headlining Saturday, April 12th at The Rickshaw Theatre, Sweden’s ENFORCER have proved themselves both live and on record; they have staked their place amongst the world’s most renowned heavy metal bands since first forming in 2005. They have toured the world over, playing at the biggest festivals and garnering a global fanbase. Their latest sixth studio album, Nostalgia (released May 2023 – Nuclear Blast), features 13 heavy metal anthems and throws ENFORCER back to their speed metal roots. Fusing extreme guitar riffing with catchy stadium choruses, ENFORCER is out to conquer the world. Music Video – Nostalgia – https://youtu.be/XhfrJAPbOCY

Supporting ENFORCER on the closing night lineup will be the Comedy Metal Kings PSYCHOSTICK. These humorcore titans bring forth a nostalgic escapade of sing-alongs and moshing fun with iconic titles such as “Beer!”, “Numbers (I Can Only Count to Four)”, “Dogs Like Socks”, “Obey The Beard!”, “Boobs”, and their latest single “Ultra Mega Fast” – https://youtu.be/kaqeizvxefM

Friday, April 11th, the second-night lineup will also witness the return of the formidable force that is Toronto’s Crimson Shadows, bringing forth tales of fantasy and warfare in their fierce melodic power and death metal-imbued sound. Thundering across the icy Canadian mountains, Crimson Shadows has awoken after five years away. The band has emerged from the dark and is preparing to forge its own path in this next stage of its journey. Across their defiant career stretching almost two decades, to date, notable highlights of Crimson Shadows‘ journey include the band’s appearance at Wacken Open Air in Germany in mid-2013 and subsequent victory in obtaining the title of International Wacken Battle Champions. Alongside international performances, Crimson Shadows has ventured across the length and breadth of their homeland, delivering brutality, technical prowess, and unyielding intensity in their melding of power and death.

Headlining Friday, April 11th at The Cobalt and returning for their third time at HMF is Seattle’s Greyhawk, stepping in at the last minute to headline night 2 of Hyperspace this year. With new singer Anthony Corso, Greyhawk is ready to bring the power with what is sure to be their best performance at Hyperspace yet! Their fourth full-length “Tempora Mutantur” was released on January 31st via Saibot Reigns Records to follow 2023’s “The Illusionist” and features a fresh lineup with the addition of guitarists Carlos Alvarez and Connor McCray (Vis Mystica) along with keyboardist Anthony Stahl plus album guests Wayne Ingram (Wildrun), Joe Gullace (Thank You Scientist) and Sam Vallen (Caligula’s Horse).

Meant to perform on the 2024 lineup but forced to cancel, Tylor Dory Trio returns for 2025. They are a monstrous progressive metal unit beloved by many in Western Canada. Also added to the Friday lineup and opening that night is The Astral Prophets, a psychedelic rock/metal band from Calgary, AB, featuring Apprentice, Lycanthro, and Scythia members. This is the band’s first time on the fest although some members have played the fest before in previous groups. They will be supporting their latest 2023 EP “Anywhere But Here”.

The opening night of the festival, Thursday, April 10th at The Cobalt, will showcase the Pacific Northwest’s Glyph, which is not just a heavy metal band, they are a crew of intergalactic mercenaries escaping a dying planet in their spaceship, the VSS Dragonlord. Clearly, Glyph isn’t just writing songs; they’re building worlds, and they bring it forth in their latest album, “Honor, Power, Glory,” released this past March.

Traveling from Edmonton, AB, Tower Hill delivers premium old-school heavy metal inspired by bands like Running Wild, Riot, Judas Priest, early Blind Guardian, and Helloween. Forging the best of the late 80s and early 90s German, British, and US metal scenes into a new blend of shimmering steel, Tower Hill’s riff-driven, hook-laden traditional metal will have you banging your head and singing along. Lyric Video – Deathstalker – https://youtu.be/IGybnd-HZRU

Replacing the originally announced Lost Nebula, Calgary’s RED CAIN has been imported to perform their power-prog storytelling with Eastern European roots for the masses. They continue this momentum with the latest singles “Firestarter” and “Demons II”. Music Video – Demons II – https://youtu.be/7VViLOrFfQ8

Montreal, QC – April 4, 2025

Canada’s Deadwood Unleashes Horrifying Deathcore Video “Heretic” As Japan Tour Kicks Off!

L-R – Fred Element – Guitar, Martin Demontigny – Vocals, Charles-Etienne Lafrance – Drums, Stephane Filion – Lead Guitar

Montreal, Canada’s deathcore outfit Deadwood has unveiled their most harrowing work to date with “Heretic”, the lead single from their upcoming EP “Rituals of A Dying Light” slated for release later this year. The accompanying video plunges viewers into a nightmarish realm that perfectly complements the band’s brutal, fast-paced sonic assault. The single’s release coincides with Deadwood‘s upcoming Japan tour (dates listed below) alongside Humanity’s Last Breath and DVRK, further cementing their place in the international extreme metal scene. The comment on the single and what the audience should expect:

“This is the first song we’ve written for the next EP and one of the ones we’re most proud of: it’s fast, heavy, and technical. We are a very intense show with a very percussive and tight guitar sound. We have a lot of samples between the songs to create a horror movie atmosphere. The fans go back home with a slap in the face. Heretic represents our darkest material yet.”

The Montreal-based collective, known for its mission to ‘Make Deathcore Angry Again,’ draws inspiration from centuries-old horror stories and myths. The track delivers the uncompromising heaviness and terrifying atmosphere that have become Deadwood‘s signature since its 2020 formation. The band’s unique blend of death metal and hardcore elements reaches new heights of intensity with this release, promising an unforgettable auditory experience for fans who crave pure brutality.

Following their Japan tour, Deadwood will continue building momentum with performances across several U.S. cities this summer, including a spot at the prestigious Inkarceration Festival in Mansfield, Ohio. They are recommended for fans of Whitechapel, Despised Icon, and Meshuggah.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. In 2023, we had a show in Fredericton, but our singer at the time couldn’t make it, so it was Fred sang most of the songs. Luckily a friend from the band was there with us.

2. During a show in Quebec, Martin had a big problem with his in-ears, so Fred lent him his and Fred played the whole show without hearing the click.

3 . During the Rockfest festival, the festival workers disconnected our sound system.

By November 2024, the band welcomed Steph Filion as their new lead guitarist, replacing Sébastien Bélanger and bringing a new level of brutality and technicality. Mart Demontigny joined as the new vocalist, replacing Derek Heynekamp, and  Charles-Etienne Lafrance completed the lineup as the new drummer, replacing Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, who left due to health issues and Sam Matt former bassist, left the band and will not be replaced.

In June 2024, they signed with EMG (Extreme Management Group) and recorded a new EP, “Rituals of a Dying Light, ” featuring five new songs. They also produced a music video for the song “Heretic” to support the EP’s release.

Canadian progressive thrash metal World on Alert, is sharing their latest music video for the track “They Came From the Pleiades” featuring guitars from Alex Walsh and Mutank‘s Costa Skoulikas. Ranging from Exodus sounding riffs, to proggy Tool and Dream Theater themes, this is a heavy instrumental.

“They Came From the Pleiades” is off World On Alert‘s debut self-titled EP released in June 2024. The EP was born out of the COVID pandemic, during which live shows were on hold. This led founder Gino LaPosta (CroMagnum), to create his passion project to explore diverse musical styles and express deeply personal themes along with recruiting talented musicians and friends from the Montreal, QC metal scene for a stellar lineup of guests that include Max Rex (CroMagnum), Justyn Vynn (Orchad), Costa Skoulikas (Mutank), Armen Apekian (Ashes of Eden), John Vincelli (Void Within) and Alex Walsh.

“This is a very diverse album with many different styles from prog to thrash to even pop rock. The theme of this record is about standing up for yourself and fighting for what’s right, whether it is an illness or just internal demons.”

The EP cover, created by the multi-talented Max Rex, who lends his vocals to the record, features a striking depiction of a world on fire, perfectly encapsulating the intense and passionate nature of the music within. This visual representation sets the tone for an offering that is as visually arresting as it is sonically diverse. It is recommended for fans of Tool, Fates Warning, and Metallica.

“World On Alert is a brand new progressive/ thrash metal project created by CroMagnum and Void Within bassist Gino LaPosta. There are several fellow musicians who lent their talents to this album including John Vincelli, Nick Amalfi, Justyn Wynn, Alex Walsh, Costa Skoulikas, Armen Apekian, and Max Rex. The five tracks herein are thrashy with progressive elements. This will seem strange but if, say, Exodus and Dream Theater jammed together they would quite likely sound like World On Alert. Needless to say, I wouldn’t classify these guys in the same league as Portnoy, LaBrie, Petrucci, Holt, etc. Few are. There are, nonetheless, some similarities. ‘Freedom In Disguise’ opens the EP and is musically very good, especially Walsh’s blazing solo. Rex’s harsh vocals, however, are hard on the ears. ‘Insecurities’ is a cool number that commences with LaPosta’s nimble bass riffing. Walsh and Vynn made this a very special song with their excellent riffing/leads. Walsh and Mutank’s Skoulikas spar throughout on the lengthy and epic ‘They Came From The Pleiades’; easily the best cut on offer. It has plenty of off chords and neat tempo changes. ‘Alone With My Thoughts’ is a beautiful ballad with, again, some wonderful leads from Vynn and Walsh. ‘The War Inside’, conversely, leans heavily on thrash. Like Rex, Vincelli’s singing grates on the nerves. Thankfully, Skoulikas, Walsh, and Apekian’s riffs/leads are spot on. Sporadic shoddy vocals aside, LaPosta should be proud of this project. 9/10″ – Powerplay Magazine UK

“those with a curiosity for a dirtier variety of progressive metal that is a little bit rough around the edges, incorporate thrash metal into the landscapes explored and shies away from coming across as overtly technical might want to give this album a bit of attention.” – Progressor.net

“This is a five song self-titled ep of doom and gloom metal crossing over into thrash. At times WORLD ON ALERT harnesses Black Sabbath vibes. At other times, they kick it up and thrash it out. Thematically, these songs deal with overcoming oppression, whether it’s dealing with outside forces, self imposed, or illness. “Freedom in Disguise” is a very heavy doom and gloom feel that reminds me of an amped up Sabbath. This song hits the right notes to be heavy without being super fast, but at the same time, not being too slow and doomy.” – Metal Temple

0 Colorado’s OBSIDIAN SKIES Dive Into The Depths Of Technical Death Metal In “Unmade by the Ocean”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 3, 2025

Colorado’s OBSIDIAN SKIES Dive Into The Depths Of Technical Death Metal In “Unmade by the Ocean”

Progressive metal duo Obsidian Skies from Boulder, Colorado, USA, announces the release of their new single “Unmade by the Ocean”, a symphonic journey through a post-apocalyptic underwater world. The single marks the first offering from their upcoming full-length album to be released in 2025. The comment on the track:

“Unmade by the Ocean is heavy-hitting, rhythmic, and technically challenging, while still maintaining a very melodic core. With soaring solos on guitar, bass, and piano, it is a song with a unique and diverse sound. Lyrically, it tells the story of a small group of people who spent the years of Earth’s apocalypse underground and must now come to terms with their new reality and find hope where there is none.”

Born from the creative partnership of Logan (guitar) and Tim (bass/vocals), former members of the band Endlight (2014-2017), Obsidian Skies emerged during the pandemic as the duo reunited to forge a new musical path. Their combined experience – Logan’s formal composition training and Tim’s technical background – brings a unique depth to their songwriting approach.

The track showcases the band’s signature sound, combining technical progressive metal with neoclassical and symphonic elements. Distinctive piano and bass interplay creates a foundation for intricate melodic solos, while harsh vocals drive the narrative forward, punctuated by clean vocal sections that provide dynamic contrast. It is recommended for fans of Ne Obliviscaris, Alkaloid, and Amon Amarth.

“Rounding off our 9, no 10 highlights this week is another debut release: “Saturnian” by Colorado progressive/symphonic death metal duo Obsidian Skies… this science-fiction tale feels like an epic mini-blockbuster despite its short runtime of only 24 minutes.” – The Prog Space

“The band’s musicianship is fantastic ” – Metal Temple

“Exciting and versatile Prog-Melo-Death” – PowerMetal.de

““Saturnian” is an enjoyable first release from Obsidian Skies. Whilst only a three song E.P. it is a very ambitious release with some very epic and complex music on show.” – Ever Metal

“What a journey this was from Earth to TITAN through space! From acoustic, piano, orchestral to the singing. I enjoyed every bit of it. The debut EP Saturnian was a pleasant melodic death metal surprise and looking forward what comes next. Logan and Tim really put much effort and you hear it. This is for the Metalfans of Rivers of Nihil, Opeth, Scar Symmetry and Into Eternity. 8/10” – Belgian Metal Shredder

“A bold and somewhat brave undertaking, the first record from Obsidian Skies is an absolute pleasure, the merits of which need to be sung from the rooftops [8.5/10]” – Metal Noise
