NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 12, 2019

For fans of Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Black Label Society

Bravewords Video Premiere: Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON ‘Path We Stray’

Out Now! Debut Album “While The Wheels Still Turn” via Rockshots Records

Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON premiere their music video “Path We Stray” off the band’s Wild West inspired debut album “While The Wheels Still Turn” released during 2018 via Rockshots Records (EU/NA) and Hellfire Records (AU). If you’re a fan of classic metal in the vein of influences such as Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, and Megadeth, then this will be right up your alley.

Watch “Path We Stray” via Bravewords: http://bravewords.com/news/exclusive-greystone-canyon-premiere-path-we-stray-video

The band adds:

“The song starts with some huge rhythmic percussion providing the backbone for Richard’s Steve Vai inspired melody.  Sounding similar to something Megadeth may have done in the early ’90s with a chugging verse and pre-chorus key change before shifting to another big chorus. The song deals with the subject matter of where we go after this life. The song ends with some dark solo guitar harmonies disappearing into a phaser.”

“While The Wheels Still Turn” is available at the following links:

Spotify  – https://spoti.fi/2Hu4rNm

In the 70s and 80s, Australia gave the world great hard rock/metal acts like AC/DC and Rose Tattoo. Now, joining those Aussie giants of rock is GREYSTONE CANYON.

The band released their debut album “While The Wheels Still Turn” on March 9, 2018, in Europe, U.S.A, and Canada through Rockshots Records and on Hellfire Records in Australia on March 12, 2018.

The album was tracked at the splendidly named Goatsound Studios in Melbourne, Australia, and then mixed in Canada, making ‘the album a real rock n’ roll frequent flyer. Mixing duties were undertaken by none other than Grammy-nominated producer and legend Glen Robinson, who had engineered, mixed and produced equally legendary acts like Annihilator, Queensryche, and Voivod.

Inspired by legends like Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth and King Diamond, “While The Wheels Still Turn” is an album that could not only sit well beside the works of those legends, but with the current tsunami of all things the 70s and 80s inspired, GREYSTONE CANYON are in the right place at the right time. We are traveling back to the future and they are the soundtrack!

As vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry proudly states.

“We really wanted to make an album similar to old Ozzy Osbourne record where songs like ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Goodbye To Romance’ can sit comfortably. This is music from the heart and soul!”

Track Listing:
1. Keeping Company With The Dead (0:45)
2. Astral Plane (4:13)
3. In These Shoes (4:54)
4. Cinco Cuerda Bandito (1:36)

6. Sombrero Serenade (1:25)
7. River of Fire (4:35)
8. Path We Stray (4:41)
9. The Sun Sets (6:17)
Album Length: 33:41

“Greystone Canyon’s debut is a solid listening experience that should appeal to both fans of Western rock/heavy metal and classic hard rock/heavy metal.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“This album is full of hard-rocking guitar riffs, soulful acoustic guitar, catchy drumming and vocals that are every bit the classic metal you’d expect them to be; all of this is arranged in a way that’s satisfying to the ear.” – Overdrive Mag

“a brilliant album! Very good pieces, a beautiful atmosphere wrap the listener. Give a chance to this band, it will doesn’t disappoint you with their class, good work guys!” – Rockers and Other Animals Mag

“Inspired by classic HR legends,  “While The Wheels Still Turn” is an album that could not only sit well beside the works of those; they’re able to be so various and with a view to the future. With a duration of 33 min, we can find six songs and three interludes; this album won’t disappoint you!” – Hard Rock Heavy Metal Mag

“Greystone Canyon has arrived with their debut album, While the Wheels Still Turn, and it is a beauty. A flawless homage to the bands which preceded them and inspired them, this glorious collection of kick-ass tracks just teases the senses and reels you in track by track. Mammoth hooks fused with technical brilliance and that old school charm just work so goddamn well, perfectly executed and tasty like momma’s home cooking.” – Rock n’ Load Mag

“The western rock vibe that gets While the Wheels Still Turn started sees the up-tempo Astral Plane grab the attention before In These Shoes delivers head-banging groove. The latter’s deep bassy sound is thrilling.” – Games Brrraaains * A Headbanging Life

“The guitar work on this album is fantastic. But it is the harmonies that catch my attention.  “Path We Stray” has some really cool vocal harmony work that echos the dissonance used in old school Ozzy tracks.  My favorite track on the album, entitled “River of Fire”, has some solid harmony in a slower song that has a really cool build to a heavy ending.” – The Spinning Thoughts

“While The Wheel Still Turn is a strong debut for Greystone Canyon, a fine and entertaining album classic melodic heavy metal with some interesting twists. Recommended.” – Danger Dog Music Reviews

BIO:

And it all began with the rope dancer….

Formed in July 2010, The Flaying is a death metal band based in Quebec City, Canada that focuses on fluid melodic construction of songs featuring brutal sections which are further complemented by vocals with both low end growls and hateful high pitches.

Since their first release Unhope (2014), Seb, Did, Wil and Mike are forging ahead in order to adopt a more brutal approach: adding new grooves, a greater velocity, and creating a wider ambiance as well as keeping breakdowns and progressive parts with counterpoints constructing a main theme of anger and a general hate of humanity.

Soldiering on with the philosophy of one band, four individuals, four personalities to collide, the writing process is a team effort initially seeing the band collaborate on riffs and groove ideas, adding a flourish of low-end colors, and blending the whole thing together with flying vocals that create a manifest of pure mayhem. This product of this steadfast diablerie will be realized on March 22, 2019, when the second album “Angry, Undead” is unleashed on PRC Music.

The guitarist Didier Samson is already called “Master” in his profession of criminal lawyer, but it is under the title of “masters of the metal” that he and his three acolytes of the death metal band The Flaying aspire with their second album Angry, Undead which appears March 22 on the emerging label PRC Music.”

“True to the band’s name, the music of The Flaying will slash the skin from your face in paroxysms of blood-spraying savagery. But it does more than that. It will also suck the air from your lungs, boil the brain, and hammer your bones into fragments fine enough to blow away in the wind.” – No Clean Singing

“Angry, Undead is quite a number, I am really digging these addictive and mesmerizing death metal tunes and I am quite sure most of you technical and progressive death metal fans out there will feel the same about this album once you have checked this out. The Flaying is definitely a band to keep an eye and an ear on!” – Lords of Metal

“Solid and thoroughly enjoyable, The Flaying make a name for themselves on their second album. Angry, Undead is never at a loss for momentum and rage, and still manages to tickle your ears with its massive grooves and musical prowess.” – Dead Rhetoric

“It is a savage, brutish and barbaric death metal album emphasized by the nasty groove of Elegy of Emptiness and the booming Angry, Unleashed. A fine addition to any death metal fan’s collection.” – Games, Brrrains & A Head-Banging Life

Badass, but in a tasteful way is the best way to describe the debut single and video ‘Cannibalistic’ from Ottawa’s TripleMurder. The song comes from the band’s forthcoming debut EP “Pre-Meditated” slated for release later this fall and is a flurry of blood, guts, and breakdowns.

TripleMurder is a band with a lot to offer their listeners, everything from chunky groovy riffs, blast beats, to breakdowns and two-steps and everything in between they refuse to be set into one specific genre and consistently break rules over the course of their 6 song EP. They see their EP as a wake-up call, which they explain further:

“We believe that it should be received as a wake-up call to the metal industry that you don’t have to confine yourself to a certain subgenre of metal to write heavy tunes. It’s all about having fun and showing off everybody’s musical tastes in the band.”

With the single, TripleMurder is looking to send their listeners into a state of awe, and be content with hearing a wide variety of elements, and techniques that keep the music creative and unique. Metal fans of all kinds, from death metal to core fans will appreciate this effort from TripleMurder.

BIO:

With the idea of forming a band without musical boundaries or constrictions, TripleMurder has made it a point to breathe new musical life into the metal scene. Triple Murder is here to make listeners question what they think about pigeonholing bands into sub-genres, offering everything from chunky groovy riffs, blast beats, to breakdowns and two-steps and everything in between. With lyrical themes involving the state of the human race, politics and social media scares to just everyday life and human interactions, TripleMurder brings an in-your-face live show to the stage in a brilliant display of headbanging, jumping, power stomping, running and tons of other antics! Their first EP ‘Pre-Meditated’ from TripleMurder is set to be released fall 2019, with more material in the works!

“The band was eager to showcase their skills (as it was their third show as a band) and did they ever deliver. With song titles like Cannibalistic, it was no surprise that the crowd began to get rowdy and mosh.  Members of the crowd being eager to move, their energy being uncontainable that they opted to hang from the venue rafters in their excitement.” – Splice Media Group

“TripleMurder brings that Pantera meets 2000s metalcore stuff in the best way possible.” – Ghostblade

“Great live band and lots of elements of old school death/thrash and modern metal in the mix. Never a dull moment in their music.” – Andrew Depedro Charlton (KNAC.com)

About:

Mad With Power – the Midwest’s only arcade and heavy metal festival – was a fest built out of spite. Angered by other fests making and breaking promises to him over and over again, fest founder Ty Christian did the only rational thing: make his own fest – and make it better – by filling venues to the brim with free-play arcade and pinball games!

Now in its third year, Mad With Power fest continues to highlight up-and-coming bands in the power metal, thrash metal, and traditional heavy metal sub-genres and attracts more and more concertgoers with new exclusives every year. In just a few years, the fest has created an official drink (Bos Meadery’s “Mad With Power” mead, available on-tap), shocked fans with power metal opera battles, and crafted unique experiences like a playable “heavy metal-themed video game museum” with the help of local sponsors.

The fest has grown year-by-year, and continues to attract attendees from not only the midwest, but across North America and Canada as well!

Bio about founders:

Ty Christian is the vocalist for the band Lords of the Trident and the founder of Mad With Power fest. Ty has been playing in, touring with, booking, and managing bands since 1999, and was a roadie and mixing engineer for bands such as Steppenwolf, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Molly Hatchet, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Ty is also the creative director of the Madison Area Music Association – a charity organization that raises funds to put instruments and music education into local schools – and prides himself on being a leader of the DIY musician movement.

It’s been a long time coming, with a band name like SLUDGEHAMMER, it was inevitable that the Toronto based quintet would be doing a cover version of Peter Gabriel’s ‘Sledgehammer’. The two are a perfect pair up, which is demonstrated in the band’s new music video covering the track.

The band comments:

“After many drunken fan requests, many misspelled marquee billings and many hours spent researching the legalities. We at Sludgehammer are moderately delighted to release our Sledgehammer cover. Peter Gabriel is our band inspiration, he has influenced every riff, blast beat and vocal harmony that we’ve created. We hope this does him some justice we hope you enjoy this as much as we did.”

Teaming up with Decibel Magazine for the video’s premiere, SLUDGEHAMMER doing ‘Sledgehammer’ can be viewed at the following link: https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2019/07/04/video-premiere-sludgehammer-covers-peter-gabriel-you-know-which-song/

Though the track is not on the band’s latest album “Antechamber” released this past April, new fans can have their eardrums pummeled and destroyed by the heavy groove presented by the band. Those with an ear for Decapitated, Pantera, Lamb Of God, and Cannibal Corpse can dig into this slice of groovy progressive melodic death brutality.

BIO:

Since the release, their first full-length album, The Fallen Sun, Sludgehammer from Toronto, Canada have been riding a wave of great reviews for the record as well as their live show.

Originally formed in 2013 by Jeff Wilson (guitar) and Fernando Villalobos (drums), Sludgehammer’s initial lineup came together with the addition of Daniel Ayers (vocals/bass) and Christopher Szarota (vocals).  By the end of the year, they released a demo which gained considerable ground. 2014’s EP Organ Harvester introduced Dan Ayers as a co-vocalist, creating a unique sound that molded Sludgehammer into the heavy and groovy band it is today.

In 2016, the LP The Fallen Sun was released; fast and chunky it was well received by fans and the media. Unfortunately, after the release of that album, the band parted ways with Szarota and Josh Stephney was brought on board to complete the album cycle.

With the lineup finalized, Sludgehammer hit the road and laid waste to every stage they set foot on, showing their fans that they were now stronger than ever.  After a few successful tours in support of The Fallen Sun, it was time to start writing the next record which will be the first to feature Stephney on vocals. Sludgehammer is preparing to show their maturity by unleashing a second monstrous album “Antechamber” in 2019.

“Demonstrates all aspects of brutal music” – Heavy New York

“Enjoy almost 50 minutes of top-of-the-line melodic, furious and electrifying Groove Metal, courtesy of five Canadian metallers armed with their amazing sophomore album.” – Antichrist Mag

“Sludgehammer doesn’t fit neatly into the traditional death or groove metal box, as its diverse elements sets it apart from its peers… hooky riffs, catchy choruses and a perfect clean/growled vocal combination… Sludgehammer possesses loads of potential. Highly recommended!” – Bravewords

“This is how gifted SLUDGEHAMMER as a band is, even with only a demo, EP and now LP under their belts. On their own, they’re a devastating DIY metal band. With a contract in-hand, they’re gonna become unstoppable.” – Blabbermouth

““Demons From the Woodwork”. It’s a jolting, high-octane, full-throttled romp that incorporates elements of thrash, death metal, and head-slugging groove — and it’s an infectious beast that Sludgehammer have unchained.” – No Clean Singing

“Sludgehammer have a great way of infusing groove into their sound. Not nearly enough of that in death metal these days” – CJSF – Metal Meltdown

Cold Meets Hot With NANOWAR of STEEL’s Summer Video ‘Norwegian Reggaeton’ ft. Charly Glamour of Gigatron

What would happen if the black metal greats took a break from burning churches to dance at a reggaeton party? Well, speculate no further because NANOWAR OF STEEL has the answer with their summer hit single ‘Norwegian Reggaeton’!

The Italian power metal parody band is feeling the heat of the summer with this mashup of speedy guitar work over the classic Reggaeton beat. Staying true to the dance hall genre they have a spicy chorus featuring Spain’s Charly Glamour of Gigatron.

The band comments:

“We think that this song is a long due tribute to the metal community. It is by and large unfair that while everyone dances on the beach, flirt with ladies in bikinis and enjoy the summer, we metalheads have lacked the proper soundtrack to do the same. But now, this song will allow us to twerk, dance and mosh without losing our metallic dignity.”

Get ready to light up your summer and dance with Varg and Fenriz in this imaginative and hilarious video that will get you banging your head and shaking your booty.

Watch the video at: https://youtu.be/j0YXfeNxJJ0

The single is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music and all other major online retailers.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 28, 2019

For fans of The Bronx, Queens of the Stone Age, High On Fire, Eye Hate God, Fu Manchu

Gritty & Grungy, WAINGRO Present Their Single ‘Red Death’ Off Upcoming Album ‘III’
Out August 15, 2019  Sludgelord Records (UK vinyl, worldwide digital) / September 13, 2019 No List Records (Canada vinyl)

WAINGRO is not just a crazy, terrible human for hire trying to make his life in L.A. as portrayed in the 1995 film Heat. It’s also the name of a crazy rock n’ roll band who are making their way through the Canadian music scene and beyond with the release of their upcoming third album “III” set to be released in the UK on vinyl and digitally worldwide via Sludgelord Records on August 15th along with its Canadian vinyl release on September 13th via No List Records.

Using the character from Mann’s movie as a jumping off point, the Vancouver band imagines further scenarios of pre-Heat WAINGRO situations, such as their first single‘Red Death’ off their upcoming album “III”. For those unfamiliar with the movie, the band explains the premise behind the lyrics for the track and the musical influence:

“The second track always needs to be a heavy hitter. It was fun to play into Converge influences on this one at the end. The lyrics talk of WAINGRO’s recipe for Red Death, which is a form of meth that’s swept the streets. It’s a shameful thing to brag about but that falls in line with what a shitty dude like him would do. And it’s a recipe that he will take to his grave – what an asshole…”

“III”, as suggested, is the third album from WAINGRO and has shown considerable growth from their previous releases “Mt. Hood” (2015) and Self-Titled (2014).

The band explains:

“The first album was kind of chaotic, the second one explored the stoner/doom side of things a bit more, and this new and third one is a mix of the two, but with a more grunge/noise element to it.”

Fans of The Bronx, Queens of the Stone Age, and High On Fire will appreciate the heavy, abrasive, high energy sound of ‘Red Death’, which can be heard streaming on Doomed & Stoned at the following link: https://doomedandstoned.com/post/185908670483/waingro

EPKBio:
Fueled by a passion for stoner rock and punk; Brian Sepanzyk (guitars/vocals), Benjie Nesdoly (drums) and Nate Pennell (bass/backing vocals) took the heaviness of hardcore, the groove from stoner rock and then added subtle desert rock highlights to work on what would come to be known as Waingro. The experienced musicians have honed their craft in several other bands over the years, but it wasn’t until they formed Waingro that Sepanzyk (guitar/vocals), Nesdoly (drums), and Nate Pennell (bass/backing vocals) were truly able to explore their talents in the abrasive desert rock band. While their earlier material can be considered stoner hardcore with releases Self Titled (2014) and Mt. Hood (2015); Waingro adds a grunge edge with their upcoming album “III due out August 15, 2019, its UK vinyl and worldwide digital release via Sludgelord Records and is Canadian vinyl release on September 13, 2019, via No List Records.

Not ones to be conventional, Waingro gives a glimpse into their writing process: “It usually starts with Sepanzyk coming up with some riffs, then going out to a cabin and locking ourselves away for 2-3 days while we BBQ and play Bocce.”

Bringing a ton of energy, while still remaining super tight, Waingro’s main lyrical concepts explore the character of the same name from the film Heat. Writing about situations from the character’s potential point of view complemented with visual landscapes for his possibilities, Waingro have played several festivals across Canada and with their latest album around the corner, will be looking to further their reach in the future.

“Waingro have crafted an impressive debut that should soon see them mentioned alongside fellow Vancouverites Baptists and Bison B.C. as a reliable source of West Coast heaviness.” – Exclaim

“Think Queens of the Stone Age but with Nick Oliveri fully supplanting Josh Homme on the mic.” – BeatRoute

“There is no escaping from the fact that Waingro have something special about them. As they have the sound and vision to turn some heads within the Hard Rock/Stoner Rock scene.” – Sludgelord

“Waingro came out swinging, with a masterful energy and stage presence that immediately turned heads across the board.” – BeatRoute

“Melodically dissonant in the best way possible, these guys play rock ‘n roll the way it should be, drawing on influences from all over the place to concoct something that they’ve made entirely their own.” – CVLT Nation

The first step can only be taken when the last toke has been drawn and ELEKTRIC MISTRESS is ready to unveil their single ‘Turn To Grey’ off their upcoming debut self-titled EP due out on July 19th. Channeling the energy of inspirations such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd the stoner rock quintet from Halifax, Canada is all about the groove.

ELEKTRIC MISTRESS is face punching psychedelic rock firmly rooted in what has come before, and also looking ahead, their single ‘Turn To Grey’ is described as ‘smoke rings in a blizzard’. They go on to tell listeners what to expect from the track:

“Perhaps the most “progressive” song on the recording, it starts the EP with an ominous psyche drone, and builds from mellow trippiness to full on smoke rings in a goddamn blizzard.”

Each track on the EP has a unique sound and showcases their varied influences and songwriting abilities with riffing low guitar/bass chug fused with B3/Rhodes/Synth sounds, the EP tries to recapture the retro rock sound of the 70s with a modern tinge and stands as a tribute to the band’s early influences.

Bio:

Looking to witness a true retro psychedelic synth rock experience with a progressive edge? Look no further because Elektric Mistress is here to deliver! Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Elektric Mistress covers a wide spectrum of sonic grooves and influences from the early pioneers of heavy riff rock such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd. Take a deep breath and ride the wave through a hypnotic haze of electric highs and sedated tones to take you back in time and return again.

Comprised of Kieran Richardson (bass), Kyle Cantfell (guitar), Steve Poole (vocals), Riley MacDonald (keys),  and Vic Canales (drums), Elektric Mistress began their journey through oblivion in 2018, creating a unique soundscape of stoner rock ignited with crunchy, groovy guitar riffs, bombastic drums, dirty keys, choice bass licks and loud and raspy vocals. This deadly combination is already starting to pay off for Elektric Mistress, having already played a handful of local shows and performing at Maritime Metal and Hard Rock Festival 2018.

For those keen to experience what can best be described as ‘smoke rings in a blizzard’ the band’s debut self titled EP is set for release this coming summer 2019 on July 19th and promises to be a solid offering of tunes suitable for those looking for a classic stoner rock vibe and also those that are more experimental minded.

Vancouver’s KOSM are ready to plunge listeners into the dark universe of Bloodborne with their new EP “Eyes On The Inside” due out Friday, June 28, 2019 and before it officially drops, the band has teamed up with MetalInsider.net for the release’s full stream at the following link: https://www.metalinsider.net/new-music/exclusive-ep-stream-kosm-eyes-on-the-inside

This dark and agile record shows that KOSM has matured in sound since releasing their 2018 Lovecraftian inspired debut album “Cosmonaut” and is the first release that features all members of the band contributing to the writing process. The band tells about the motivation for writing this album:

“We really set out to give people what they were asking of us, we all feel it’s going to be received incredibly well. On top of that, this is 100% for all the Bloodborne fans that trolled us into oblivion last year, so we hope that they love it just as much as the fans of progressive metal do! It’s heavier, trickier, and more concise with obvious nods to our biggest influences including Tool, Mastodon and Gojira.”

Quoting that they spent less time on this release than the previous one, KOSM feels like this is their strongest material to date focusing on the lore of the Bloodborne game and toying with their musicianship to create a five-track record that is heavier and more sonically detailed than earlier material.

Both progressive metal and Bloodborne fans alike will find a special place in their hearts and ears for “Eyes On The Inside”.

The EP will be available on Spotify, Bandcamp and Apple Music as of June 28th.

Upcoming Show Dates:
June 29-30 – Lone Butte, BC – Lone Butte Community Hall (Metalocalypstick Fest)
July 6 – Calgary, AB – Border Crossing (Decimate MetalFest)

EPK – https://wp.me/pciNW-dsaBio:
KOSM is a progressive metal band hailing from Vancouver BC, Canada. Combining influences from Mastodon, Tool and Gojira; their sound is dynamic and unquestionably lethal. Since their induction in 2016, they have been making their mark in Vancouver’s metal scene as an absolute force to be reckoned with.

Familiar to members of the progressive metal covenant, and playing with themes from the H.P. Lovecraft and Bloodborne universes; KOSM is quite unique and authentically its own being. Their first release, 2018’s “Cosmonaut” was an album loosely based on the Lovecraftian myth of Cthulhu and each song was meant to walk the listener through a story from beginning to end. Following this, the band is now gearing up for the release of their latest release in 2019, “Eyes On The Inside”, an EP exclusively based on the Bloodborne video game.

“Vancouver’s KOSM kick the door in with Cosmonaut, their monstrous full-length debut. Brace yourself for a satisfying trip through an exciting mountain range of cascading, meaty riffs, swelling rises and heady drops, all led by the powerful, soaring vocals of the dynamic Jessie Grace. ” – Beatroute BC

“KOSM cite Tool, Gojira and Mastodon as three of their main influences, and all three can be heard loud and clear on their new album, Cosmonaut. The technical, progressive musicianship of Tool meets the crushing grooves and rhythmic vocals of Gojira, and Mastodon’s ear for riffy, thunderous prog are all present on Cosmonaut, which features some of the most technical metal I’ve heard this year outside of, you know, technical death metal. ” – Decibel Magazine

“The song (Ancient Heart) itself, which swings between some appetizingly heavy progressive riffs and aggressive growls and more melodic moments (with clean singing behind them). A tough band to place in that regard, but one certainly worth seeking out as they continue to expand their sound.” – DeadRhetoric
“KOSM does a solid job of mixing technicality, mood and groove.  They have all sorts of dual guitar sections, and very psychedelic and moody parts on “Cosmonaut” as well.  They’re a well versed band with all kinds of moods and changes engaging your ears every split second. ” – Technical Music Review

“KOSM definitely show enough potential with this release to be a band that should be on your scopes.” – Noizze UK

“Kosm’s Cosmonaut isn’t bland: it’s the pleasing sound of a band following their own inner vision.” 9/10 – Hellbound
