0 Cell Press Drummer Posts Playthrough “Piss Police” From Their Noisy, Sludgy Debut Self-Titled EP Out Now!

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 3, 2020

For fans of KEN mode, Unsane, Mastodon, Keelhaul

Cell Press Drummer Posts Playthrough “Piss Police” From Their Noisy, Sludgy Debut Self-Titled EP

EP Out Now! Limited Edition Cassette from Ancient Temple Recordings and No Funeral Records

Lineup (L to R): Sean Arsenian (Guitar, Vox), Joey Cormier (Bass), Mark McGee (Drums), PQ (Vox)

Cell Press drummer Mark McGee has posted a video of his battering hands with a playthrough for “Piss Police”, which is the opening track from the Montreal band’s debut EP released on November 27th.

“Piss Police” is bookended with one riff, which the band plays in different ways, as an intro and outro. The middle section was something their guitarist Sean Arsenian had demoed for a different project, but in the end, found it to be right at home with Cell Press. The bridge is a much noisier take on a Jesus Lizard type of riff.

Watch McGee gorge through the track in the following drum video via his YouTube.

Cell Press has no one metal genre label to them as they are a concoction of grindcore, noise, sludge, extreme metal, along with anything and everything the band feels like creating.

The eclectic ep may not be metal enough or noise-rock enough or sludge enough for some, but Cell Press gets bored really fast and the result is serious channel surfing taking advantage of a wide variety of influences. With this release, they have gone all out to wrap their ideas up in a burlap sack, tied with razor wire. As the band says in their own words:

“This EP sorta sums up what we’re about at this particular moment. Genre people might not be satisfied with our lack of adherence to any one sound for too long, but we didn’t make these songs for those sort of people.”This ep is designed as a broad introduction to the band, and new listeners will hopefully anticipate what else is coming down the pipe in the future. It upholds the high standards Cell Press sets for themselves and each song is quite different from the others.

Super loud and aggressive, Cell Press is a sort of hybridized amalgamation of influences, and most recommended for fans of Jesus Lizard, Converge, and Botch.

Digital download from Cell Press here.

Limited edition cassette order available from No Funeral Records and Ancient Temple Recordings.

About:

Cell Press are a Montreal-based band that formed in 2019. They play a sort of burly noise-rock that leans more on the hardcore and metal side of the swamp. They took their name from the 2001 Russian prison documentary “The Mark Of Cain”. The brutal humanity of that film is reflected in the music… on the surface, it’s raw and punishing but there are complexities

and nuances revealed once the surface noise has been embraced. Members have played in a myriad of punk, metal, and hardcore bands such as The Great Sabatini, Biipiigwan, I Hate Sally, The Chariot, Animal Ethics, Architect, Swarm Of Spheres, and Angles. Their self-titled EP is the first offering of tunes. Recorded pre-quarantine in Hamilton at Boxcar Sound Recording

(Sean Pearson), mixed in Oakland at Anti-sleep studios by Scott Evans with the pandemic in full swing… 2 local shows have been logged but any further plans to gig have been halted by Covid-19.

Discography:
2020 – Self Titled – EP

– 30 –

“From the grooves on “Piss Police” to the odd-timed melodic chords of “Blacked Out in Verdun,” everything moves in unexpected ways. All of this is perfectly set to the backdrop of PQ’s uniquely cackled screams… Cell Press is a great sludge metal EP that reminds the listener of the best aspects of this sub-genre. This EP makes the future appear bright for what is to come from this band. 8/10″ – Exclaim!

“You know that feeling, when you spin a new record for the first time and it just fucking destroys you? Well today I am happy to report, Cell Press outta Montreal have truly delivered the goods with their debut self titled EP.  I mean fuck, is it any wonder this band rules, when they can boast members from the likes of The Great Sabatini, Biipiigwan, I Hate Sally, Architect. With their self-titled release, Cell Press give zero fucks about accessibility, instead they focus on delivering punishing aggression with a melting pot of sludge metal, noise rock, and grindcore.” – The Sludgelord

“Warm fuzzy guitar tones bring a touch of the Sabbath to “Piss Police” with broken chords and momentary pauses giving the kind of sound that Raging Speedhorn look for to accompany the rampant venting screams of the vocals that unapologetically roar along during the montage.” – Metal Noise

“Cell Press’s debut self titled EP is definitely an interesting listen. I didn’t expect it to take me on the journey which it did. An aggressive sound runs throughout showing that this band don’t play by the rules, they’re making music the way they want to.” – The Independent Voice

“Noisy and enjoyable, I give this Cell Press effort high marks. I am a Punk fan from the beginning, and I hear those roots here, certainly in the attitude, even if the category is technically off. The disenfranchisement is very appealing. Recommended.” – Flying Fiddle Sticks

Entropy Shares Lyric Video For Album Title Track “Force Convergence”

Video Premiere via MetalInjection

New Album “Force Convergence” Out Now!

Canada’s Entropy unleashed their fourth album “Force Convergence” this past August. The full length is a 30-minute metal rip-ride! It’s a creative and fun progressive thrash full length that flows with power, melody, and aggressiveness along with it being a story-driven sci-fi horror experience. There are lyrical influences from bands like Rush, Queensryche, Voivod, Iron Maiden, plus films such as Aliens, Predator, War Of The World’s, Independence Day, with a tinge of war scene themes throughout the story concept from films like Apocalypse Now, Platoon, and Starship Troopers, mixed in for fun.

With an original and eclectic sound that is 30 years in the making, “Force Convergence” follows Entropy‘s three independently released Ashen Existence (1992), Transcendence (1995), and E3 (2012). The Canadian legends are suitable for all metalheads especially those who enjoy Slayer, Pantera, and Iron Maiden.

Today, the band is sharing their latest lyric video for the album’s title track “Force Convergence”. The song was the first one they wrote after E3.

Guitarist Dan Lauzon comments about the story behind the track:

“The first time we played this one live was in 2014 without Ger even having lyrics ready yet because I conned him into performing just to see how it would be received live haha. Over the years we vaulted it and it went over a few changes, partly because it was older and you just can’t help yourself making it better. When we started jamming this again to tighten everything up before the studio, I had forgotten just how heavy a song it was. That ending riff is classic Entropy, making a pile of time changes sound cohesive.”

To have your face melted, check out the lyric video for “Force Convergence” via its premiere on MetalInjection HERE.

“Force Convergence” is now out and available on Entropymetal.com (CD) plus Spotify, Apple Music, and all major digital platforms HERE.

EPKAbout:
Formed in Toronto in the late 80s, Canadian metal band Entropy has released 3 albums on their own independent label, Ashen Existence (1992), Transcendence (1995), and E3 (2012).

The quartet of Oscar Rangel (bass), Ger Schreinert (vocals), Dan Lauzon (guitar), and Blake Lemieux (drums) mark their own eclectic style of metal. Lauzon writes the songs as guitar music structures. Schreinert gets down the lyrics and vocal lines. Rangel contributes with beautiful classical guitar and creative bass lines throughout the songs. Lemieux composes the drum parts, and the result is brutal and elegant at the same time.

The unique sound of Entropy comes from a blend of thrash, death, prog, groove, speed, and power metal stylings. The original sound coupled with strong reviews in print and web media for their independent CD releases, Entropy has performed extensive shows for their fans, playing live with such legendary acts as Annihilator, Piledriver, Fear Factory, Razor, Obituary, and Anvil and countless local Canadian bands.

Entropy’s independent album releases have become somewhat of an underground metal collector’s item, with on-line reports of eBay bids going up to $500 USD for an original copy of Ashen Existence!

As of August 2020, Entropy will release the fourth album Force Convergence, with even more music planned after that. Entropy thanks their fans, and metal album collectors from around the world, for the continued interest and support of their unique brand of metal.

The Second Foray Into Within Nostalgia’s “Void and Decay” Comes Forth With “Beneath Unworthy Presence”

Song Premiere via Bravewords

New Album “Void and Decay” Out December 18th

Within Nostalgia announced their album “Void and Decay” recently with the first single “Desideratum” and now they present a second “Beneath Unworthy Presence”. The single continues the band’s proclivity towards honest and haunting music, and this release reflects a personal and unique journey. Within Nostalgia hopes that listeners can relate to the music and lyrics in a meaningful way and be able to gain their own perspective from it.

Currently, the band is a duo between founder Alyssa Broere (rhythm guitar/bass/vocals/drum programming) and Kyle Bell (lead guitar/bass/drum programming), who have been working on this album since the release of 2019’s “Conjuring A New Reality”. Now with a firm grip on the creative trajectory for the band, the sound had morphed into what is meant to be the truest form of Within Nostalgia.

“Beneath Unworthy Presence” takes the listener on a journey in the sense that there are many parts, ranging from harsh vocals, blast beats, and double bass to clean vocals and almost a “dance-y beat”. The band further explains the track:

“It was the third song written for the album and represents many different aspects of the genres that inspire us. This song goes into the concept of humans not being worthy of this earth because of the damage that we do to it on a daily basis. It talks about the natural karma that takes place here and how natural disasters happen as a way to depopulate and show us who really is in control. ‘Trees shall grow beneath unworthy presence’ represents the fact that nature will continue to thrive and take back what is rightfully its own.”

Powerful and unique, Within Nostalgia is recommended for fans of Agalloch, My Dying Bride, and Nachtmystium.

“Beneath Unworthy Presence” can be heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

The full album “Void & Decay” comes out on December 18, 2020.

Rockshots Records: New Music Video “Hard In This Town” Australian Sleaze Rock LACED IN LUST

New Album “First Bite” Coming 2021

Aussie Hard Rockers Laced In Lust unveil their new music video for their next single “Hard In This Town” off the forthcoming album “First Bite” out February 2021 via Rockshots Records.

Music Video – YouTube
Stream – Spotify

With a sound frequently described as a “Sleazy Status Quo” with the image of the “Sunset Strip”, Laced In Lust has been turning heads since their first show in April 2012. The 14 track debut album “First Bite” is a diverse record with some major sleaze elements to hold true to the genre, but also have some just good ol’ Aussie rock n’ roll tones with a slice of dirty blues.

Singer/guitarist Torsten Steel explains the story behind the single track:

“Is a story about a city in Australia that I lived in for a year that was really an eye-opener. Even though a lot of the lyrics are about this city (which I actually for some strange reason do have a small soft spot for) they certainly relate to many other cities and towns around Australia that I have also had experiences in also. I moved away from the band to a different city in 2018 for work. But it really wasn’t a smart move. Huge unemployment rate, terrible methamphetamine problem, local economy totally screwed and getting worse, the highest youth crime in the country and major sexual assault issues where you can’t walk the streets at night for fear of murder or rape. That’s not to mention that car theft and home break-ins are so normal that no one cares anymore because they’re just desensitized to it now haha. Let’s just say a huge natural disaster occurred and a lot of people were hoping that it would wipe out the whole scum of the city so the government could push the reset button on the place and start again….. So I had to write about this as I was living the same nightmare for 1 whole year”.

0 Rockshots Records: Out Now! SIX DEGREES Debut Album “No One Is Innocent”, New Lyric Video “Imperfect”

  • November 27, 2020

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 27, 2020

For fans of Lacuna Coil, In Flames, Slipknot

Rockshots Records: Out Now! SIX DEGREES Debut Album “No One Is Innocent”

New Lyric Video “Imperfect”

Italian Groove Metal band SIX DEGREES have unleashed a new lyric video for their single “Imperfect” off their debut album “No One Is Innocent”, out today, November 27th via Rockshots Records.

“Imperfect” Lyric Video – YouTube

SIX DEGREES was born from an idea of Luca Correnti (guitar and vocals) and singer Valentina Aleo.
The name of the band is clearly inspired by the sociological theory (developed for the first time in 1929 by the Hungarian writer Karinthy) about the so-called “six degrees of separation”.

Luca comments about “Imperfect”:

“In this song I really like how Vale and I almost “chase each other” with our voices. Being imperfect is not a fault, but an essential human characteristic. It is one of those things that really makes us human. Sometimes we fall into this trap: we only think about following trends and styles that many consider as models, but in reality, they are not at all. They are not values, but only things that have a beginning and an end, like everything else. What sense does it make to adapt to what is proposed to you as a model? It is hard enough to understand what is real and what is virtual .. starting to recognize your limits helps you to accept yourself exactly as you are.”

“No One Is Innocent” is an album that brings together all the creative aspects of the band. It’s an aggressive, simple, direct groove-death metal, but filled with melody. All of this gives the compositions a dual-purpose appeal, with a mix of violence and impact but also catchy melodies, thanks to Luca’s scratchy growls and Valentina’s sweet and effective vocals.

The album includes a cover version of “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and The News, taken from the legendary trilogy “Back to the Future” OST.

“No One Is Innocent” is now available in Digipak CD, Digital Download and Streaming.

ABOUT:
“Six Degrees” project was born from an idea of Luca Correnti (guitar and vocals) and Valentina Aleo (vocals). The name of the band is clearly inspired by the sociological theory (developed for the first time in 1929 by the Hungarian writer Karinthy) about the so-called “six degrees of separation”.

Luca was born in Sicily but now he lives in Umbria. He was part of the line-up of the cult band “Sinoath” in the album “Research” (guitar), then he has been the lead vocalist in death-thrashers “Mystura” and in the prog-death-metallers” EpisThemE “(“Descending Patterns” their debut album, 2014).

After moving to Umbria (2016), Luca joins the historic death metal band from Terni “S.R.L.”. The group is currently working on the songs that will be part of their new album.

Valentina was born in Spoleto (Perugia). She took her first steps as a lead singer in the alternative metal band “Burn it down”. They recorded the EP “In flames” and performed in live concerts including the Tour Music Fest, Emergenza Festival and the Music Village, in which Valentina had the honor of sharing the stage with Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil).

Luca meets Vale thanks to a musical announcement and a few weeks later they decide to start this artistic partnership. They work hard, helped in studio by the sound engineer Elvys Damiano, until all the songs of the album “No one is Innocent” are ready. Then they choose to call this project “Six Degrees”.

Feed After Midnite hails from Ottawa, Canada, and thanks to recent, pandemic-granted free time, released a single “Out of Time”.

This is the first single from the fairly new, laid back band who are out to show rock fans around the world that they are “just some dudes having fun and playing tunes”. Embodying that mantra, Feed After Midnite maintains a high level of professionalism, which comes through in their musicianship.

Feed After Midnite shares their hopes for the energetic, upbeat single:

“We are aiming to provide our fans with a mix of a modern hard-hitting sound and also the refreshing nostalgic sound of old school rock and metal. A driving, anthemic hard rock tune with lyrics that paint a picture of a post-apocalyptic world in need of someone to fight for what is right. Are you ready to fight?”

“Out of Time” can be heard on YouTube and Spotify.

Feed After Midnite formed in 2018 and take a large amount of inspiration from horror movies, current events, and childhood memories. When they started they had a predominantly hard rock sound which evolved into heavier stylings but at the same time, remaining catchy and simple.

Those who enjoy many facets of hard rock and metal will appreciate Feed After Midnite, especially those who like Deftones, Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat, and Faith No More. The band expects to be releasing more music in 2021.

The single “Out of Time” was released on October 2, 2020 and available for download on Bandcamp, Apple Music, Amazon.

Hard to pinpoint exactly when it comes to genres, Montreal’s Cell Press brings listeners a cacophony of grindcore, noise, sludge, and extreme metal.

Genre people might not be satisfied with our lack of adherence to any one sound for too long but we didn’t make these songs for those sort of people.”

This ep is designed as a broad introduction to the band, and new listeners will hopefully anticipate what else is coming down the pipe in the future. It upholds the high standards Cell Press sets for themselves and each song is quite different from the others.

Super loud and aggressive, Cell Press is a sort of hybridized amalgamation of influences, and most recommended for fans of Jesus Lizard, Converge, and Botch.

Canada’s Ancient Thrones unleashed their new album “The Veil” on November 6th, which is a concept release that is a 57-minute descent into the afterlife. The full length is Ancient Thrones’ intent to tell a compelling story of grief that people can relate to through a dark and progressive package droning with cosmic anguish where nothing is as it appears both musically and lyrically.

Ancient Thrones explains:

“The record is a concept record so it’s meant to be listened to in its entirety to get the full experience of the story. Even the songs were written and laid out in a way that they seamlessly transition into each other. Almost as if it was just one long piece of music broken up into separate parts as tracks. We want people to headbang and mosh, but we also want to bring people on a journey through this world of purgatory and grief and understand each phase of grief the record represents through the 10 tracks.”

Today, in support of “The Veil”, the band is sharing a shredding guitar playthrough for the single “The Soul To Flesh”, which is the fourth track on the album and tells about the character entering the third stage of grief. This song kicks you in the teeth pretty well out of the gate and ups the frantic pace of the album to a new level.

Recommended for fans of Revocation, The Red Chord, and The Black Dahlia Murder, “The Veil” is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon.

About:

Ancient Thrones, formerly “Abysseral Throne”, is a locally acclaimed blackened metal outfit that rebranded to suit major changes in line-up and songwriting.

Formed in 2011, they quickly went to work to establish themselves among their scene and gained local notoriety eventually allowing them the opportunities to open for renowned metal acts from across the globe.

Sean Hickey (drums/vocals) is the sole original founder of Abysseral remaining, Matt LeBlanc joined in 2015 on bass and improved and refined the sound and operation drastically. Once they lost their original singer and guitar player Jonny Rains, Dylan Wallace joined and took over main songwriting duties. Hickey took over completely on vocals with a black/death metal vocal style, and Nick Leslie joined shortly after on the second guitar. Work began on writing a new album which took about 3 months to write the music for. The new material sparked the name change to Ancient Thrones as an homage to one of Hickey’s favorite bands and inspirations, Wolves in the Throne Room.

In 2013 the band released its debut record and its subsequent follow-up in 2016, “Storming The Black Gate”, which was nominated for an East Coast Music Award. Ancient Thrones have toured throughout Canada, and played at several festivals, sharing the stages with bands such as Silverstein, The Agonist, Black Crown Initiate, and Skull Fist.

2020 sees the release of the concept album “The Veil” showcasing the band’s desire for storytelling and pushing them to new heights musically. The new album explores the journey of a man faced with tragedy, his mortality and ultimately the permanence of our actions told through technical soundscapes and haunting atmosphere.

After an extended amount of time introducing the musicians and teasing with excerpts the entirety of Shores of Null’s “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying)” is ready for the world. The massive 38-minute single-track album takes the listener through the stages of grief propelled by thunderous doom music tied off with ethereal vocals.

Going off the beaten path, Shores of Null explores the heavier side of music while writing their ultimate doom manifesto. They have collaborated on this dark opus with many special guests, including two doom-titans, Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun) and Thomas A.G. Jensen (Saturnus) along with the angelic voice of Elisabetta Marchetti (Inno). The band is able to present an even more diverse and eclectic sound on the album thanks to the addition of classical instruments like piano and violin.

Shores Of Null can be overwhelmingly heavy and soothing at the same time, trading off between gothic-doom vibes and blackened aggression. Their music stands out for its melancholic yet majestic vibe, made of choral-like guitar textures exploiting their full range, sustained by a powerful rhythmic section and punctuated by a refined brew of clean and growled vocals, with a large use of vocal harmonies, which have become one of the band’s trademark through the years.

Suggested for fans of Paradise Lost, Amorphis, and Saturnus, the doom metal opus of “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying)” is out officially out on Friday, November 27th, 2020 and before it drops, it’s streaming in full via its premiere on Metal Rules HERE.

About:

Shores Of Null is a Rome-based metal band, an unwavering presence within the metal underground since their musical outset in 2013. They have churned out two impressive records: the melodic and somber  “Quiescence” (Candlelight, 2014) and the darker and more complex “Black Drapes For Tomorrow” (Candlelight/Spinefarm, 2017), both of which were highly praised by the worldwide music press.

Shores of Null stands out from its contemporaries with its ability to blend seemingly disparate elements and their ability to sound overwhelmingly heavy and soothing at the same time. Blackened aggression stands alongside gothic-doom sections without either sounding out of place. Their music can be both melancholic yet majestic, made of chorale-like guitar textures across the instrument’s entire range, sustained by a powerful rhythmic section and punctuated by a refined mixture of clean and growled vocals, along with extensive use of pleasing vocal harmonies which have become the band’s trademark through the years.

Shores Of Null has performed over 150 shows, including six European tours (with In The Woods, Ereb Altor, Hooded Menace, Mourning Beloveth, Novembre, Harakiri For The Sky, Sylvaine, and more), dozens of shows and tours in their home country (with Primordial, Arcturus, Candlemass, Moonsorrow, Leprous, Saturnus, Negura Bunget, etc.) and many European Festivals (Inferno Festival, Eindhoven Metal Meeting, Winter Days Of Metal, Doom Over London, Metalitalia Fest, Frantic Fest, and more).

Shores Of Null’s third work, “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying),” is expected to be released in November 2020 via Spikerot Records, continuing to prove the band’s willingness to go off the beaten path and create their ultimate doom manifesto, a 38 minute-long suite emphasizing their heavier, slower and dramatic side, inspired by the five stages of grief formulated by the Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. The band has collaborated on the dark opus with many special guests, including two doom-titans, Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun) and Thomas A.G. Jensen (Saturnus), along with the angelic voice of Elisabetta Marchetti (Inno). The band is able to present an even more diverse and eclectic sound on the album thanks to the addition of classical instruments like piano and violin, along with the return of the talented Marco “Cinghio” Mastrobuono (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse) behind the production desk.
