Dive Into A Melodic Death Metal Storm w/ “Blackened Waves” From Canada’s FALAMH

Song Premiere via NoCleanSinging

“Aeons Effigy” Out March 25th

L-R – Dave Strba (Guitar, Backing Vocals) – Kyle Tayler (Guitars, Vocals) – Kye Bell (Bass)

Canada’s Falamh are an intriguing blend of black metal and death metal, heavily dosed with melody, catchy riffs, and unrelenting heavy vocals. Their newest EP “Aeons Effigy” is coming out this year and the second single is “Blackened Waves”.

The single takes the listener into the dark turbulence of the ocean, where the drums and bass batter the eardrums like a storm against a frantic ship. It’s an immersive ride showing the well-developed musicianship of each of the extensively experienced members. Kyle Tayler (guitars, vocals) explains the track:

“’Blackened Waves’ tells the story of a near-death experience of someone being lost in a storm at sea and drowning, only to ascend alive with a newfound purpose. It’s a bit more mid-tempo with some highs and lows to keep it dynamic.”

Guitarist/vocalist Kyle Tayler formulates the basis of the song, which are then worked on by David Strba (guitars, backing vocals) and Kye Bell (bass) in their final form. Usually, there is an idea of where the song will go when the initial structure is derived, but lyrics almost always follow the music. They usually incorporate personal experiences under the guise of various forms of mysticisms. Sometimes they also tell a kind of story or journey.

“Aeons Effigy” takes shape from many influences and is recommended for fans of Enslaved, Taake, and Kampfar.

“Blackened Waves” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“Aeons Effigy” is being released on March 25, 2022.

About:

Falamh, from North Bay, ON, Canada rose from the ashes of a previous band in 2019. Guitarist/vocalist Kyle Tayler had originally written material for that band, but after the dissolution, sought other creative outlets for them. Enlisting members from the previous band, Falamh was born and they got to work refining their melodic black/death metal.

Ultimately working collaboratively, Tayler guides the initial creation of song structures, riffs, drums patterns, and lyrics which are distilled by David Strba (guitars, backing vocals) and Kye Bell (bass). The three of them have considerable experience playing live and for them, the current focus is to present something more memorable with a stage presence that adds to the overall atmosphere of the music.

Falamh released their first EP “The Unbound Beyond: I” in 2020 and will follow it up with “Aeons Effigy” due out on March 25, 2022.

The third single “Pierce the Sky (Conflict)” from Day of Departure’s upcoming proggy narrative is fast and intense, mirroring the part of the story that tells of war and brutality. When setting out to create this album, the band wanted to create their own soundtrack to a storyline that would ring familiar to fans of the sci-fi and apocalyptic genres, but with their own unique twist on the theme.

According to the band, “Pierce the Sky (Conflict)” tells of the last remnants of humanity deciding they must do all they can to fight back in order to survive. The song is a driving force throughout and meant to provide a sense that the tides may be turning, only to be crushed in the end. They explain further:

“This song is all-out-war! It’s a battle for civilization and the pace and drive of the song hardly let up. We wanted to elicit an unrelenting attack on the senses, as it relates to the carnage that is occurring within the narrative. We also wanted to tease the listener into thinking that there was a hopeful end to the track, but then ultimately crush all of those expectations with the finale.”

Taking inspiration from sci-fi and comic books, guitarist/keyboardist Matt Kozar initiated the writing for most of the songs, but the entire album is a collaboration from all of the individuals noted as playing and assisting in the development of the album. The music and lyrics are intimately interwoven throughout the album, the music provides the backdrop to the lyrics, while the lyrics set the tone for the tone and vibe of the song that best represents the portion of the story that is being presented.

The members of Day of Departure are fans of, and most heavily influenced for this album, by the doom and post-rock/post-metal genres. They also cannot escape their progressive metal influences and you will hear that seep out throughout the album. This upcoming album is suitable for fans of Hammock, God is an Astronaut, and If These Trees Could Talk.

“Pierce the Sky (Conflict)” can be heard via its premiere V13.net HERE.

About:

Day of Departure combines elements of post-rock, ambient, progressive rock, and hard rock to arrive at a unique sonic landscape that seeks to balance the varied influences and inspirations from its creators.

Born out of a desire to explore a different musical style that merges their influences with a well-woven narrative, Washington D.C.’s Day of Departure created a story that begins with the destruction of our planet, and then the need to evolve and find a new path forward for survival. They are heavily influenced by a number of different sci-fi stories and comics that echo throughout their music.

Their debut self-titled album is set to be released on March 25, 2022. It was produced and recorded entirely remotely over two years with none of the members working together in person. They currently do not have any plans to play live at the moment, but are looking forward to thinking about how to bring to life the music and vibe that was created on the record.

While writing their debut, several songs didn’t make the cut, yet Day of Departure are already thinking about the next chapter to explore, with some of those songs/ideas being the inspiration or perhaps even the focus of forthcoming music.

New Album “Rex Mortem” Out Now!

Chicago’s neo-classical melodic death outfit BURNED IN EFFIGY unleashed their latest album this past January 28th. The full-length follows their debut EP “Terrestrial”, which was all instrumental. With the addition of vocalist Mark “Smedy” Smedbron, the fury of a new monster was born for the next chapter of the band. “Rex Mortem” was recorded with guitarists Vito Bellino and Brad Dose, who soon after parted ways and saw live guitarists Steve Bacakos and Mike Hisson take over shredding duties. The three new members join co-founding members Eddie Dec (Drums) and Matt Watkins (Bass) to push forward a new front supporting this epic record that has been called by Brutalism.com “One of the first strong albums of 2022…”.

Today, in support of the record, Burned In Effigy has teamed up with NoCleanSinging to premiere their latest band playthrough video for their most melodically and harmonically complex song track “Treachery”.

“It expresses its themes in multiple keys and includes lots of counterpoints, including sections with 3-way counterpoint between the guitars and bass. The vocal chants throughout the song hammer home the lyrical themes of divine right and corruption. The king aims to present an image to his subjects as a just and noble ruler, while he plots to spread his treachery across the land.” adds bassist Matt Watkins.

Join in the “Treachery” at the following link HERE.

“Rex Mortem” is a high-energy recording, but also diverse. It takes elements from multiple subgenres within metal, mainly melodic death and progressive while infusing neoclassical elements into each track. No two tracks sound the same. Burned In Effigy skillfully and tastefully changed keys and time signatures throughout, so the feel of their music is constantly shifting, but also smoothly flows between each section. Lyrically, the album is the introduction of a tale of a tyrannical king’s rule and demise, including some other minor themes and stories from mythology and classic literature.

Bassist Matt Watkins adds:

“We are psyched to present our debut album, Rex Mortem, a catalog of the first chapter of the band. This has been in the works for a long time and we couldn’t be more pleased with how it has turned out. The songs vary in complexity and intensity and demonstrate our growth as a band since its inception. Listeners will hear influences such as The Black Dahlia Murder and The Human Abstract, combining our love for death metal and progressive/neo-classical metal. The vocals are gritty and tense and the lyrics emphasize this with dark tales inspired by mythology, history, and classic literature. We believe our album has something for all metal fans, regardless of preferred subgenre.”

Album order for “Rex Mortem” is available at Burnedineffigy.bandcamp.com (CD) and all other major digital platforms at https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/burnedineffigy/rex-mortem.

“One of the first strong albums of 2022… a very solid debut without much in the way of a bad track. While the band tends to stick to a basic formula and not overpopulate the tracks with clean vocals, keyboards, or guest vocals which tends to the be typical melodeath experience these days “Rex Mortem” is full of infectious riffs that will grab listeners and root them in place for the full ride. Definitely, a band to watch for in 2022. 4/5” – Brutalism

“On this album there’s a sound that was both impressive technically and a lot of fun. Sure, you’re getting technical guitar playing and sinister vocals, but when that neo-classical side of the band hits you can’t help but bounce or sway with the melodies.” – Metal Injection

“Burned In Effigy gild their aggressive, though catchy, melodic death metal with ornate neoclassical melodies that give their violent proceedings a distinctly regal tint.” – Invisible Oranges

“Burned In Effigy, a Neo-classical Melodic Death Metal band from Chicago, weave a sublime meld of classical and progressive elements into their tracks. The result makes their debut full length, Rex Mortem, a stunning and essential listen.” – Metal Talk

“If you’re looking for a talented new band that writes engaging songs and showcases a plethora of stylistic influences, look no further. Burned in Effigy are here to blow you away with their relentlessly catchy debut LP, and you can expect to dig it if you like quality metal, period.” – Noob Heavy

“This record is straight to the point, brutally beautiful, effortlessly ruthless and an incredibly fun listen… I completely vibed with this record and give it a solid 8/10.” – This Day In Metal

“The bombastic guitar soloing on “Vendetta” puts a showmanship quality on the spot…” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“if you’re looking for that ultimate mix of savvy Tech and Melodic Death Metal high on a yet unknown number of energy drinks, Burned in Effigy is your band. 8/10” – Rock Music Raider

0 Canada’s Lÿnx Are Giving Pure Rock N’ Roll A New Perspective With Music Video “Long Live Rock n’ Roll”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 7, 2022

Canada’s Lÿnx Are Giving Pure Rock N’ Roll A New Perspective With “Long Live Rock n’ Roll”

Taking no prisoners and making no excuses is the name of the game of Calgary’s Lÿnx. They play pure rock n roll reminiscent of the 80’s boosted with modern-day producing and mastering. Last year they released their album “Long Live Rock N Roll” and now they have a music video out for the title track single. They explain the track:

“We wrote Long Live Rock N’ Roll as a homage to all the legends that came before us. Fangs put most of the lyrics to it and Blade composed the song. From start to finish it’s the life experiences that Fangs acquired on top of his way of saying thank you and shouting out that Lÿnx will carry on the Rock N’ Roll dream that so many accomplished before us. Man, we hope it kills! All of us have put a lot of thought into this album, as every artist does”

Lÿnx formed as a group that came together with a shared dream of wanting more out of life. With a burning desire to create, this band is the dream that they wish to share with the world as they make their mark in music history. This album gives fans the whole experience, whether you’re touring downtown with your partner, and you want to crank up the tunes, they got that. If you want to sit back and chill, listen to some good time rock, they got that too. Having a party? Hell Yeah! They should be the first album played because that’s what Lÿnx is. They bring the energy, the noise and want everyone to enjoy it with us!

Lÿnx intends to take their fans back to a time long gone that was full of hair, crazy outfits, and rockstars while showing a younger generation that “this ain’t your parents’ music”. They are recommended listening for fans of Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, and Skid Row.

About:

Lÿnx is the 80s inspired Hard Rock/ Metal four-piece currently based in Calgary, Alberta Canada. During the 2020 pandemic, the band was formed by former vocalist Lazer Wild and Lead Guitarist Blade. Soon after bassist Fangs, and Drummer Flash joined and Lÿnx was formed.

The band is currently fronted by Ja6ur on Vocals, Blade on guitar, Fangs on bass, and Flash on Drums/ Percussion. Connected by a shared love of 80s glam metal and hard rock, the band immediately set about writing original songs that embody the style and swagger of the past, while embracing the polished production and down-to-earth grit of their more modern rock influences. Lÿnx released their debut self-titled EP in February 2021 followed up by their second EP titled “Long Live Rock N Roll” in September 2021 with Bullzhorn Records. Since their releases, the band has gained popularity through various reviews on different media platforms in Europe, Australia, and North America. Having gained a reputation for their anthemic choruses, sizzling guitar solos, and powerhouse vocals Lÿnx has garnered a dedicated and eclectic international fan base.

The band has hit the stages with high energy and connected with their audiences through the love of Rock N Roll. The band aims to build on the momentum created by their released music and push their sound into even more extreme levels of Rock N Roll.

“Lÿnx is an honest to goodness rock n roll band in a time when rock needs just that. They offer up blistering guitar riffs and solos, melodic choruses, and high energy performances that resemble the spirit of a time long gone by.” Hitonindie.com

“A brilliant release that perfectly builds on the stage that their self titled EP set. ‘Long Live Rock N Roll’ is a direct unyielding ode to what rock music used to be. A release that’s not for the faint of heart, its bold, brash and wonderfully Brutal. Landing as one of Lÿnx’s defining musical moments” Thomas Bedward – Broken 8 Records

“ Opening tracks can tell you a lot about an album. Sometimes bands come out swinging, and others take a slow burn approach. Theres no slow burn in Lÿnx. And the title track ‘Long Live Rock N Roll’ roars out of your speakers. It features a great guitar solo, fantastic percussion, and drips with 80s glam.” Dave Wilks – CGCM Radio/ Podcast

“This is a really solid, fun band that were excited about, and can’t wait to hear what’s next. So, Crank it up and press play!”- MusicNotez Magazine

Buried Realm Introduces New S/T Album With “Spectral Light” Featuring Dean Arnold (Primalfrost, ex-Vital Remains)

Self-Titled Album Out June 3, 2022

Hailing from Colorado Springs, USA, Buried Realm is the one-man project of Josh Dummer who enlists the help of prominent musicians from around the world to bolster his already impressive songwriting and performance. Having released two albums already, “Embodiment of the Divine” (2020) and “The Ichor Carcinoma” (2017).he is gearing up to release a third, a self-titled full-length with a well-rounded group of well-known guests. The first single out will be “Spectral Light” featuring Dean Arnold (Primalfrost, ex-Vital Remains) who has appeared on both of the previous albums. Dummer gives some insight into the track:

“One of the faster songs on the album, “Spectral Light“ carries fun, intertwining leads/ melodies and non-stop, in-your-face vocals. The lyrics are mostly inspired by disturbing horror stories of possession and exploring the dark side of one’s mind.”

Taking influence from Swedish melodic death metal greats such as Opeth, Soilwork, and Scar Symmetry, listeners can expect to be confronted with a wall of riffs, wailing solos, and insane drumming. The album has its traditional arrangements at times but is also built on technical and chaotic grounds. Having opened up to the creativity of other musicians, “Buried Realm” is a decisive and original composition.

The nine-track album comes in at 38 minutes and is a ride of metal craftsmanship all the way through. It features other guests including Bob Katsionis and Christofer Malmström. Buried Realm is the result of Dummer always wanting to release a solo album and after working with many great musicians he intends to keep going as long as possible.

The album “Buried Realm” is recommended for fans of Scar Symmetry, Children of Bodom, and Nevermore.

The lyric video for “Spectral Light” can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/HCMQd5dirTE

The full album will be available on June 3, 2022.

About:
A true visionary is a rare thing, but such a man is Josh Dummer exemplified in his solo studio project Buried Realm. Influenced by personal experience and executed through metaphors, the progressive and heavy metal leaves room for interpretation and paints an interesting picture for listeners.

Inspired by Opeth, Kreator, Old Man’s Child, Symphony X (and tons of old Hair Metal!), Dummer is a man who is not afraid to gaze into the abyss for music and lyrical inspiration. He describes Buried Realm’s music as ‘fierce, cutting, technical, melodic, and memorable.’

Following up on his long-time idea of releasing a solo album, he seized the chance with his first offering “Ichor Carcinoma”. Released in 2017 it features guests such as Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Armageddon), Peter Wichers (Soilwork), Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun) and Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Jeff Loomis band).

In 2020, Dummer released is the follow-up sophomore “Embodiment of the Divine” and while it was parallel to the first, both musically and lyrically, it took a step in a sojourn journey. It featured many guests such as Andy Gillion (Mors Principium Est), Benjamin Ellis (Scar Symmetry), Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind), Dean Arnold (Primalfrost, Operus, ex-Vital Remains), Lee McKinney (Born of Osiris), Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork), Rafael Trujillo (ex-Obscura), and Ryan Strain (Chaos For The Masses.

The next chapter in Dummer’s journey is the release of his third self-titled Buried Realm studio album on June 3, 2022. Once again, Dummer has invited many guests on this record with Bob Katsionis (Witch Bones), Christian Münzner (Poison Palace), Christofer Malmström (Elder Gods), Christopher Amott (The Iron Flame/ Quicksand Memory), Dan Swanö (Where the Armless Phantoms Glide) and Dean Arnold (Spectral Light, Primalfrost). The lyrical theme on this full length is about paranormal and psychological twists… mind tricks.

Discography:
2022 – Buried Realm
2020 – Embodiment of the Divine
2017 – The Ichor Carcinoma

– 30 –

“Like its predecessor, this one’s an absolute ripper on the more technical / heavy side of the melodic death metal coin.” – Metal Sucks (Embodiment of the Divine Review)

“Creative, melodic and really charming, “Embodiment of the Divine” is an amazing experience. 10/10” – Metal Temple

“Well done melodic death metal that hits all the right marks.” – Dead Rhetoric

“The fast-punching grooves in the song (The Wonder and Terror of Fortune) are a match for the ecstatic energy of everything else. One listen, and you can tell why this track was chosen as the album closer — it sends the listener out on an enormous high.” – No Clean Singing

“Buried Realm play an eager, galloping sort of melodeath, with lots of speedy leads, upbeat riffs, synthesizers, and solos everywhere. It’s almost as if Blind Guardian enthusiasm and subject matter met up with Scar Symmetry’s love of ambience and melodic-yet-death-y riffs… I commend Buried Realm for their songwriting, performances, and ambition.” – Angry Metal Guy

“Given that The Ichor Carcinoma has so many guests, it stands to reason that it has a diverse sound, ranging from hyper-speed solos, breakdowns, a mixture of screams and clean singing and more, but at the end of the day, it can be classified as an impressive melodic death metal debut.” – Decibel Magazine (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

“Buried Realm sound a whole lot like what you’d expect given the bands whose guest musicians Dummer tapped for the project: aggressive, catchy, Sweden-inspired melodic death metal. If you like all the bands name-checked above, you’re sure to like this one. It’s incredibly well-done and expertly crafted.” – MetalSucks (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

One of Eastern Europe’s most successful and diverse metal bands, Dirty Shirt is an amalgamation of folk metal, nu-metal, hardcore, metalcore, industrial and alternative rock. Originally, they started as a wedding band and since evolved into a creative, colourful band that plays with a very wide range of musical influences. The next single, or singles, off the upcoming album, is the two parted “Cand s-o-mpartit norocu’”, which means “when good luck was portioned out” when translated to English. The two tracks take their inspiration from a very sad Romanian song, which the band explains further:

“Part one starts with a monotonous and almost funeral ambiance, with a long development in crescendo to the chorus. In part two, the ambiance becomes more psychedelic, with Tool influence on verses. There is an instrumental bridge to the chorus, with gypsy influences, and the chorus in English, with an “elevating” ambiance and an alternative/grunge sound. Except for the English chorus, the lyrics are from traditional music, and it is about the fact that we are confronted with tragedies in our lives. Unfortunately, it is impossible for us not to make the link between the visual and musical atmosphere of the video and what is happening in our neighbouring country, Ukraine. It is a sad song, with a sad video, for sad times…”

The video for “Cand s-o-mpartit norocu’ (Part 1 & 2)” was made by Costin Chioreanu (Ghost, Marylin Manson, Opeth, Carcass, Hypocrisy), a Romanian artist internationally recognized for his unique style of graphics and animation.

“Get Your Dose Now!” is the sixth full-length in the band’s discography, which also includes their EP “Pandemic Special” released earlier this year and three live recordings “Live at Wacken” (2019), “FolkCore DeTour” (2018) and “Live in the Truck” (2011) plus a long history of festival performances. The very diversified album will surprise listeners, but will also be familiar to long-standing fans.

There are eight core members of Dirty Shirt, with a multitude of guest musicians coined as the Transylvanian Folkcore Orchestra who take part in recording and some larger live performances. Each of the musicians leaves their touch on the music, making it complex, vast, and intriguing. They are recommended for fans of System of A Down, Skindred, Diablo Swing Orchestra, and Twelve Foot Ninja.

The album “Get Your Dose Now” is out on April 1, 2022.

0 Montreal Progressive Death MESSORA Shares NIN Cover “Closer”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 3, 2022

Montreal Progressive Death MESSORA Shares NIN Cover “Closer”

Montreal, Canada’s Messora started as a solo recording project with no clear goal back in 2016 and since then, has evolved into a full-fledged live band. They recently released their latest single “Forever as I Beg” this past December in follow up to their 2019 album “The Door”. The epic track, which goes through the whole “album” kind of arc and progression within the single piece of music is meant to give the album experience condensed in a nine-minute progressive death metal song.

With the new single’s download, the band offered up fans an exclusive bonus track of a harsh and guttural cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ “Closer”, which they are now sharing today. Band founder Zach Dean explains further:

“The idea to cover Closer came to me because I thought that it would work great in a live setting. I really wanted to get a room full of people to scream that hook with me. Once I had a demo for it, I decided that it would be great to record and release. It fits well with Forever as I Beg because there are lots of thematic lyrical similarities, dealing with self-destructive cycles and dissociation.”

0 CHOREOMANIC (PESTILENCE Bassist Joost van der Graaf’s Experimental Prog/Funk Project) Posts Rehearsal Video “Walk With Urgency”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 3, 2022

CHOREOMANIC (PESTILENCE Bassist Joost van der Graaf’s Experimental Prog/Funk Project) Posts Rehearsal Video “Walk With Urgency”

Self-Titled Debut Out Now!

CHOREOMANIC, the experimental prog / funk project created by PESTILENCE bassist Joost van der Graaf, has posted a rehearsal room video performing “Walk With Urgency” with drummer Koen Herfst (VandenBerg, I CHAOS, Dew-Scented). The track is off his latest debut self-titled album released on February 18th.

“The cool thing about this song is that the main groove and bassline are inspired by the intro of another recording by my first serious band Creepmime! That song was called ‘King Of Misrule’, from the album ‘Chiaroscuro’ 1995… Instrumental. The title refers to the way a junky walks with urgency on the way to scoring.” adds Graaf.

Watch “Walk With Urgency” at https://youtu.be/zlY3FNyuRS0

CHOREOMANIC is the experimental prog / funk project created by bassist Joost van der Graaf (Pestilence, Dew-Scented, I CHAOS) when the world came to a halt in spring 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. With canceled tours and no local gigs, Graaf started writing music in which different influences from his past came together. The final product was an album that features twelve bass-orientated tracks experimenting in realms of prog, funk, and everything else on the planet that has musically inspired Graaf over his thirty-plus year career. The full length’s lyrical concept explores Choreomania, an uncontrollable urge to dance, especially in a frenzied, convulsive manner also known as the Medieval Dancing plagues. Graaf explains in further detail:

“In 2019, I became pretty obsessed by the mysterious dancing plagues of the middle-ages. I started reading different studies, learning about the different theories about the cause. It’s still one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in history! One of the theories that made the most sense to me is that people had been suppressed by the ruling class (church, inquisition) for generations. There was collective fear of God and let’s not forget about the black plague! So there was this anxiety relief at a certain point that became infectious and caused convulsions and psychotic dancing, resulting in exhaustion, dehydration, and even death. It spread across Europe and there were large gatherings in towns and villages with frantically dancing people, accompanied by traveling musicians and all kinds of interested parties. These things sometimes became true festivals with people selling food, etc. With today’s reality, the phenomenon seems to have become relevant once again! This project is not only a musical statement, but also a call to action against (cultural) oppression. May everyone move and create in freedom!”

For the record’s guest musicians, Graaf recruited drummer Koen Herfst (VandenBerg, I CHAOS, Dew-Scented), keyboardist Thijs Ronteltap (Disuse, Epistulum), saxophonist Tommie Freke (Gallow Street), trombonist Jeroen Verberne (Sjef’s Special) along with trumpeter and bugler Gidon Nunes Vaz. Once the full-length was mixed and mastered at Nutsville Noiselab, The Hague, the self-titled debut “CHOREOMANIC” was a fact and ready to take on the world.

Recommended for fans of Mr. Bungle, Zappa, John Zorn, Infectious Grooves, and Brian Setzer Orchestra, CHOREOMANIC is available for digital download and stream at https://emubands.ffm.to/choreomanic and limited edition CD order at https://choreomanic.bandcamp.com.

Canadian thrashers HYPERIA, formerly of Calgary, AB, now residing in Vancouver, BC will be self-releasing their new album “Silhouettes of Horror” this coming March 2022. The full-length follows their 2020’s “Insanitorium” unleashed via Sliptrick Records and their 2019 EP “Fish Creek Frenzy”.

The mosh quartet has already shared two songs “Experiment 77” and “Operation Midnight” off the upcoming record, and today they are ready to get the pit moving once again with their third single “Prisoner of The Mind”, a song about how we are all slaves to our thoughts and conditioning.

“This song opens with a neo-classical style lead that unleashes into a fast double kick run before transitioning into a thrashy and in-your-face verse. The chorus on this song is arguably the catchiest on the album, with a power-meta-lesque sing-a-long feel to it. Another song that showcases the dynamics of Hyperia between melodic harmonies and balls to the wall thrash.” adds guitarist Colin Ryley.

Listen to “Prison of The Mind” – https://youtu.be/Ii2Z9c1wlU0

Hyperia‘s forthcoming second album “Silhouettes of Horror” sees guitarist Colin Ryley behind the soundboard producing and mixing the record with mastering done by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland (Children of Bodom, Nightwish, Battle Beast). Album artwork was created by Andrei Bouzikov (Vektor, Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust).

“We think that we have polished our sound and pushed ourselves to create what we believe is a newly refined vision. This record has pushed the whole band to their limits, and the songwriting, performance, and production value is a huge step up. We feel the fans will enjoy this new album even more than our first full-length,” adds Collin Ryley.

Energetic, melodic, fast, psychotic, and dynamic are the elements that make “Silhouettes of Horror” that old and new fans of thrash, NWOBHM, and power metal will appreciate. The band even included a cover hommage of Abba’s “Gimme Gimme Gimme”. For the recording of “Silhouettes of Horror”, Hyperia also recruited good friend and session drummer Gord Alexander (Tessitura, Tides of Kharon, Immunize).

Most of the lyrical themes on “Silhouettes of Horror” revolve around inhumane government experiments, sleep disorders, and night terrors.

“Silhouettes of Horror” is due out on March 18, 2022 and is recommended for fans of Exmortus, Arch Enemy, Unleash the Archers, Havok.

About:
HYPERIA (originally from Calgary, AB now based in Vancouver, BC) is a Melodic Thrash Metal band known for their wailing vocals, shredding guitars, and fast, heavy music. Formed by Colin and Marlee Ryley in September 2018, they found 3 members from the local metal community and hit the ground running. Since the release of their debut EP “FISH CREEK FRENZY” in 2019, HYPERIA has been thrashing venues and taking the Western Canadian metal community by storm.

In April 2019, HYPERIA announced their signing SLIPTRICK RECORDS, who released their debut full-length album “INSANITORIUM” in January 2020. The band celebrated their release to a 300 person sold-out show in their hometown of Calgary, Canada.

Later that year, the band announced the departure of their previous drummer Jordan Maguire, while at the same time revealing the commencement of their second record “SILHOUETTES OF HORROR” with session drummer Gord Alexander (Tessitura, Tides of Kharon, Immunize). The album was completed in June 2021 and is due out in March 2022.

=====

“If you prefer your metal loud, dark and just a touch campy (and who doesn’t?), then Calgary-turned-Vancouver rockers Hyperia are planning to deliver with Silhouettes of Horror, the follow-up to 2020’s equally furious and equally fun Insanitorium. First single “Operation Midnight” is an unrelenting barrage of riffage held down by Marlee Ryley’s throat-blistering vocals.” – Exclaim!

Insanitorium – #18 on Top 20 – February 2020 – Canadian College Radio Loud Charts (source: Earshot)

“Insanitorium will get the blood flow going and cause massive pit eruption when Hyperia tear up the stage and that’s what the best thrash of any kind should achieve. Keeping their eyes on the prize with creative flourishes in a brief two-year window since forming, the future looks very bright for these Canadians as more people flock to the band’s addictive, pounding style” – DEAD RHETORIC

“Unhinged and unconfinable, Hyperia may throw a lot and we mean a lot of ideas at the wall in the hope that they stick but in the end, it’s their scattershot approach and fearless demeanor which makes them so damn appealing!” – WORSHIP METAL’S 2020 “10 THRASH METAL ALBUMS YOU HAD TO HEAR IN JANUARY”
