Following the release of their album “Liminal Spaces,” Italian progressive metal act Beriedir unveil the official music video for “As Tight As Phantoms Hold”.

First introduced live in 2024, “As Tight As Phantoms Hold” quickly became one of the band’s most energetic and impactful songs to perform on stage. Musically, the track blends tight rhythms, ambient sections, electronic drum passages, and crushing breakdowns, embodying Beriedir’s ability to merge atmosphere with sheer intensity. Lyrically, it portrays the image of an anonymous guard stationed in a desolate outpost and condemned to fleeting encounters with nameless passersby, a metaphor for loneliness, transience, and betrayal.

“An isolated box, a guardhouse at the entrance of a parking lot. Cars come and go, strangers pass by, some of them wave. Nameless, every day, no one meant to stay. That’s what some of us feel like. A keeper of nothing, only meeting ghosts. The only connection afforded was that of a stab in the back.”

BERIEDIR Release Official Music Video for “Burnout” – The Quintessential Track from “Liminal Spaces”

Following the release of “Liminal Spaces” via Rockshots Records, Italian progressive metal act Beriedir unveils the Official Music Video for “Burnout”, the album’s emotional centerpiece.

Musically and lyrically, “Burnout” captures the very essence of the record. A song about mental exhaustion, the crushing weight of self-imposed pressure, and the relentless cycle of overexertion, “Burnout” blends technical complexity with emotional immediacy. The track opens with hammering rhythmic patterns and aggressive riffs before collapsing into a fragile, almost sobbing pause culminating in a melodic death-inspired finale of overwhelming intensity.

“Filling all the time we have, keeping the furnace burning as everything gets consumed. Writing page after page, until something breaks. Silence falls in an instant, like the noises in the forest when a predator is present. But the only threat to us, in the solitude of sleepless nights, is ourselves. The cycle never stops: our mind becomes incandescent, works non-stop, then burns out. Then it starts again.”

As frontman and primary songwriter, Stefano Nusperli explains, it all began with a USB drive full of music from bands like Vision Divine, Dream Theater, Dark Tranquillity, and Children of Bodom—a discovery that sparked the initial flame of Beriedir and ultimately led to “Liminal Spaces”.

Now, with a more collaborative approach and a renewed focus on progressive and alternative metal, Beriedir’s sound draws comparisons to Pain of Salvation, Leprous, Katatonia, Gojira, Trivium, and Dark Tranquillity. Beriedir proudly releases their third studio album “Liminal Spaces”, now available as of January 10th from Rockshots Records.

With “Liminal Spaces”, Beriedir fully embraces a progressive and experimental sound, moving away from their power metal origins. The new record delves into melancholia, nostalgia, longing, and seclusion, delivering in both lyrics and music.

“It’s okay to bask in memories, we’re not alone in our burnouts, weird dreams can (and do) affect us, and it’s entirely possible to relapse into the same old sorrows. Sometimes we just need a song to accompany us in this. This is Liminal Spaces.” adds the band.

In the first half, fans are introduced to the album with the straightforward style of the opening track Halo, and explore the main theme of Liminal Spaces with the song Neon, followed by the tight rhythms and variations of In The Corner Of My Eyes. Listeners should be ready to break their neck in the “kyrie eleison” section of As Tight As Phantoms Hold and get carried by the deeply introspective style of F.I.V.E.

The record’s second half gets sweetened with More Than Starlight‘s romantic and wide-open style. Understand what Burnout really is, with the homonym track and its headbanging section followed by polyrhythmic-dying-heartbeat. Return straight to life with the “in your face” styles of Anemoia and Massive, dealing with the wildly incalculable facets of our human depth both in waking life and dreams. Beriedir offers a sound that, throughout their discography, spans from progressive power metal—characterized by its signature, neck-breaking choruses—to a contemporary progressive identity, delivering tight rhythms, gargantuan emotional sections, and earth-shattering, surgically precise breakdowns. This powerful musical package is wrapped in introspective themes, melancholic and nostalgic, creating a dark and enveloping aesthetic.

The band originated as a project by frontman Stefano Nüsperli and began their live career in 2015 with the release of their first demo, The Line. From that point on, they have participated in numerous musical events, such as Fosch Fest 2016, and have had the opportunity to share the stage with renowned metal acts like Korpiklaani and Pathfinder.

In 2018, they released their debut full-length album, The Path Beyond the Moon, which allowed them to reach a broader audience. Following the release of their acoustic EP, Lullabies Beyond the Moon (2020), Beriedir signed with Rockshots Records in January 2022 for the release of their second full-length, AQVA, which features Ivan Giannini (Vision Divine, Derdian) as a guest on the track Stormbound. The album received enthusiastic reviews from the press and was warmly welcomed by listeners. As a bonus track, the band released the single Send Me An Angel, a cover of the song by Vision Divine.

Following the album’s release, Beriedir performed several live shows, sharing the stage with prominent bands from both the Italian and international scenes, such as Stratovarius, ELEGY, Moonlight Haze, Trick or Treat, Strana Officina, Derdian, Crying Steel, and others.

After a period focused on live performances and production sessions—including the release of a well-received cover of Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary in 2023—the band released Elegies From The Lighthouse, an EP featuring acoustic reinterpretations of tracks from AQVA, in September 2024. Shortly thereafter, they announced their third full-length album, Liminal Spaces, scheduled for release in January 2025, once again through Rockshots Records, and preceded by the launch of two singles.

Releasing the new album “AQVA” this past January via Rockshots Records, progressive power metal legion Beriedir is sharing with fans their latest music video for the track “Rain”.

“Under a faint rain, in the early morning through an old city, this track makes us face the effects of regret, guilt, and nostalgia. Despite seemingly hostile, the suffocating roads of that place turn into an unlikely embrace, while the now pouring rain hides our tears. Anger suddenly adds to the mix, directed both outwards and inwards, while everything fades into a downpour after a hymn to that city.” adds the band.

Beriedir‘s second full-length “AQVA” features ten tracks of progressive, power, and melodic death metal that were mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni (Domination Studio).

“AQVA”, despite not being a real concept album with a story articulating itself throughout the tracks, touches its various topics through the many forms in which water manifests, be it a river, a storm or tears. The album deals with rather introspective matters, trying to give a new perspective on situations that Biriedir thinks their listeners will find relatable and hoping that they will maybe take shelter in their audio experience, using them as their own voice when only music can speak for us.

“We think AQVA will positively surprise our older fans and lead new ones, this record is much more diverse and has definitely matured in songwriting. The main goal of AQVA as a whole is to figuratively “submerge” the listener with a spectrum of themes, both musical and lyrical, related to water and its shapes. Water is the element of flow, it’s the substance that conceals, preserves, and washes all away. The lulling nature of a silent shore or a rapping rain is juxtaposed with the fearsome imagery of the undertow, riptides, and tidal waves. We tried to convey these atavistic sensations differently from track to track. The singles were chosen to showcase the variety of approaches to this theme.” adds band founder Stefano Nüsperli.

About:

Beriedir (from the Sindarin word for “Guardians”) is a progressive melancholic power metal act based in Bergamo, Italy. The five-member band was founded by Stefano Nüsperli and began its live career in 2015 with the release of “The Line”, their first demo. Their first full-length album “The Path Beyond the Moon” was unveiled in 2018, which launched them to perform on multiple musical events such as Fosch Fest (Italy) along with sharing the stage with bands such as Korpiklaani and Pathfinder. After the 2020 release of the EP “Lullabies Beyond the Moon”, which contained three tracks from their debut album rearranged in an acoustic key, they are now ready to launch their new album “AQVA” in 2022.
