Rue Morgue Premiere MALACODA’s New Horror Track ‘Pandemonium’

Music Video ‘Penny Dreadful’; New EP ‘Ritualis Aeterna’ Out Dec 2nd

Canadian horror inspired symphonic power metallers MALACODA (named after a demon from Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’) will be offering their new six track EP ‘Ritualis Aeterna’ on December 2nd to follow up to their well-received 2014 self-titled debut. Packed with dark atmosphere, originality and innovation, this is gothic power metal for the 21st century with intelligence and intensity to rival that of their infernal inspirations!

Teaming up with Rue Morgue, the creepy crawlers are premiering their latest track ‘Pandemonium’ streaming at the following link: http://www.rue-morgue.com/single-post/2016/11/17/Music-Premiere-We-spin-MALACODAs-new-horror-track-Pandemonium

Band founder and vocalist Lucas Di Mascio comments:

“Pandemonium is a track that hearkens back to our love of classic metal and its connection to mysticism and horror. Influenced lyrically by John Milton’s Paradise Lost and its tragic depiction of Lucifer, the song plays on how fear can change one’s perception of the world and if that fear is not kept in check, it can have dire consequences.”

Plus also check out their music video ‘Penny Dreadful’ inspired by the since canceled Showtime TV show by the same name. The video was directed, produced and edited by The Laundry Design Works. The song explores the themes of the show, each section of the song being a different character’s personal struggles. Just as the show paid homage to horror’s roots, the band’s music video pays respects to classic horror films, using only practical effects to achieve everything from the dark corruption of the blood in the veins of the possessed woman, to the sped up and jerky motions the band members display as the song crescendos.

About:

Taking their name from a demon from Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’, Malacoda’s dark gothic vision is indeed divine but no laughing matter.

As band leader Lucas, who studied Literature and Religion at University explains: ‘Malacoda was the name of a very minor character in the book, a fallen angel who flies around with a small army of demons torturing helpless souls in Hell. From a literary perspective, I found it interesting that he wasn’t merely an evil creature being tortured for his sins, but was given free reign to do what he pleases and takes it upon himself to torture other wicked souls in the spiritual prison that is Dante’s Inferno. I wanted a powerful name that fit not only the sound of the band but also the lyrical themes I touch upon. I wanted something dark, but not something that would be blatantly devilish sounding. The name translates roughly in Italian to ‘Cruel Tail’ and most people don’t see it and think “this band is named after a demon” and see it as something more romantic sounding.’

Like the ‘Inferno’ that inspired their name they forge metal without limits in sonic shapes endless and horrifying in equal measure. Malacoda’s music vision shares much in common with Dante’s, they are unafraid to gaze into the abyss, unafraid to be inspired by the myriad of human horrors within and without. They are not blind to the worlds within them waiting to be born.

Malacoda are about to follow their well-received self-titled debut with the horror-themed ‘Ritualis Aeterna’, which enters this world on December 2, 2016. Festive it most certainly isn’t, magnificent it certainly is. Full of dark atmosphere, originality and innovation, this is gothic power metal for the 21st century, intelligence and intensity to rival that of their infernal inspirations!

Set to unleash their debut album ‘The Eyes of The Soulless’ on November 25th, bone-crushing Calgary four-piece KREPITUS have teamed up with Decibel Magazine for the exclusive full stream premiere and interview for the release at the following link: http://decibelmagazine.com/blog/2016/11/17/album-premiere-and-interview-with-krepitus

KREPITUS have been challenging the relationship between death and thrash metal with their trademark downtrodden technical riffs and fierce aggressive vocals since their beginnings in 2013. The band is comprised of Teran Wyer performing double duty on guitar and vocals; a tortured soul bound to his music. Matt Van Wezel is the second sniper, hitting each guitar note with precision and complementing the already harmonious riffs. Curtis Beardy pulls the tone down to the depths of hell with his steady hand and low register bass riffs. Finally, Harley “Rage” D’orazio kicks everything into overdrive possessed by grinding rhythms and accenting every solo on his drum kit.

Each member stands like a pillar; strong and sure in their own sound, but all standing to support the structure that is KREPITUS. They have since performed with acts like Expain, Depths of Hatred, and Aegaeon plus have competed in the Wacken Metal Battle Canada.

Traversing between djent and technical progressive metal, Edmonton’s PROTOSEQUENCE are ready to give fans a taste of their live performance through their exclusive premiere with Djent Worldwide TV. The video features their single ‘Guardian’ from their 2016 EP Schizophrene with live footage shot by Nick Laird Photography at local live music venue The Mercury Room. The band brought out their fans for the music video and and it can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMRKEmnCZhU

Guitarist and vocalist Parker comments on the making and release of the video:

“We have been laying low the past little while, working on getting our new EP done for 2017. We  figured it was time to release that little video we shot a while ago. Also, can’t thank Nick (Laird) and Lucas (Gould) for filming this video and the fans who came out to support us. They’re the real MVP’s here!”

About:

Edmonton’s own Protosequence offer a rush of groovy guitar parts met with story-filled lyrics and serene, landscape-sized instrumentals that roll like hills into a valley.

Protosequence is a reference to the original genome where all life began — much like the band, which existed in principle before they even had a presence. Each of the members were lying in wait to be activated and become the strain that is now Protosequence. Kyle Hunter (guitar) was constantly crafting near-complete songs that were ready to be realized. It did not take long for Kyle and Logan Vars (drums) to finally meet. It seemed as though there were two projects destined to combine into a singular effort to form the final line-up for the band: Logan (drums), Kyle (guitar), Parker (guitar), Joseph (vocals), and Ryan (ex-bassist). Members have a long history in the Edmonton music scene, playing in bands like Anubian and In The Midst Of A Murder since the early 2000s.

The band draws influence from acts like All Shall Perish, August Burns Red, and The Black Dahlia Murder. With a foothold on their influences, they root their music in technicality while layering emotional, yet gruff vocals weaved into every track. The band transitions seamlessly through djent riffs, grinding drums, and groove elements, making their sound versatile and ever-changing. Each live performance is crafted like an album played from front to back, with each song bearing a story and painting the room like a canvas — leaving the colours and experiences on each audience member.

The band is currently planning to release another EP as a follow up to their 2016 release ‘Schizophrene’ that will be announced early 2017. Check out their website for more details: www.protosequence.com

About:

Decadawn is a melodic death metal band from Montreal, Canada. In 2014 they released their first album ‘Solitary Confinement’ which features guest vocals from Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates) on the album’s title track. The band had some minor lineup changes since the release of their album. The full lineup is now made of: Louis-Charles Tardy (founding member, vocals, guitars), Pierre-Olivier Merizzi (lead guitars), Frank Larouche (rhythm guitars), Colin MacAndrews (drums) and Jean-Daniel Poirier (bass). They are currently working on their next album, which should be released in 2017.

– 30 –

“Montreal melodic death metal band Decadawn is onto something here. This band is doing its best to change the game plan of what most fans think melodic death metal should sound like. After releasing a demo in 2001, it took 13 years to finally release the band’s full-length debut, Solitary Confinement. Decadawn is a “newer” band giving a go at the traditional Gothenburg sound. They possess many trademarks of the popular ’90s melodeath sound reminiscent of At The Gates and early-era In Flames with a touch of Children Of Bodom (minus the keyboards). However, the thing that separates Decadawn from the rest of the melodeath pack is the cleaner, melodic, power metal vocals they incorporate throughout each of the ten tracks. (…) Solitary Confinement is a new twist on a tried and true genre with a few splendid surprises. Decadawn is a band to keep your eyes (and ears) on in the future.”

– Kelley Simms (BraveWords.com)

“One of 2014’s biggest unsigned surprises and without a doubt a true highlight of melodic death metal! One to keep both eyes on!”

– Alex Melzer (The Metal Observer)

“Solitary Confinement is a great album that will appeal to a wide spectrum of fans across the melodic death metal genre.”
– Tim Blevins (MusicReview)

There’s no cheap imitations going on here, as you will find out as soon as the band hit full power with a mighty blast on opener ‘Venom’s Angel’ and it gets even better with ‘Reach For The Sky’, the very seriously pounding ‘You Got My Mind’ and not to mention the intense riff heavy and thumping ‘December’.

Inire rides that line of hard rock and southern metal well, they give southern metal a hard-hitting edge that so many bands in the sub genera lack making them more accessible to so many listeners. This album is a hefty 13 tracks and 43 minutes long.  They have managed to keep your interest for the duration, it runs seamlessly and is so cohesive its impressive that they didn’t seem to go off track once.  This is one blazing fast riff and momentous moment after the next keeping you pinned to your chair the entire time.

What’s brilliant about “Conductor of Storms” is that it emanates the essence of old-school Thrash Metal with a dash of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOFBH for short) and hinted elements of early American Metal. Even in this day and age, there are still bands willing to give their efforts to keep the origins of Metal going strong, and that’s a damn good thing. MEDEVIL are the closest thing you’ll get to this incentive; definitely worthy for old fans and new.
