Offering a rush of groovy guitar parts met with story-filled lyrics and serene, landscape-sized instrumentals that roll like hills into a valley, Edmonton, AB’s PROTOSEQUENCE announce “The Greasy BC Tour” in support of their latest release “Schizophrene” along with them premiering new material that can only be heard live from their forthcoming follow up. The tour is presented by Temple Entertainment and Odessa Music Management plus sponsored by Absolute Underground and will kick off in Abbotsford, BC on June 10th and wrap up with a hometown show in Edmonton, AB on June 17th. Supporting PROTOSEQUENCE on the tour for select dates will be Calgary melodic progressive death metallers PLAGUEBRINGER.

About:

Protosequence is a reference to the original genome where all life began — much like the band, which existed in principle before they even had a presence. Each of the members were lying in wait to be activated and become the strain that is now Protosequence. Kyle Hunter (guitar) was constantly crafting near-complete songs that were ready to be realized. It did not take long for Kyle and Logan Vars (drums) to finally meet. It seemed as though there were two projects destined to combine into a singular effort to form the final line-up for the band: Logan (drums), Kyle (guitar), Parker (guitar), Joseph (vocals), and Ryan (ex-bassist). Members have a long history in the Edmonton music scene, playing in bands like Anubian and In The Midst Of A Murder since the early 2000s.

The band draws influence from acts like All Shall Perish, August Burns Red, and The Black Dahlia Murder. With a foothold on their influences, they root their music in technicality while layering emotional, yet gruff vocals weaved into every track.The band transitions seamlessly through djent riffs, grinding drums, and groove elements, making their sound versatile and ever-changing. Each live performance is crafted like an album played from front to back, with each song bearing a story and painting the room like a canvas — leaving the colours and experiences on each audience member.

The band is currently planning to release another EP as a follow up to their 2016 release ‘Schizophrene’ that will be announced early 2017.

    Hickory, N.C. sci-fi metal band RAPHEUMETS WELL (Ra-few-mets) have posted a new video diary chronicling their adventures during their tour of Mexico this past May in support of their new album “Enders Door” released via Test Your Metal Records on May 26th.

Once again RAPHEUMETS WELL brings forth a voyage enriched with lore and a sound that is a complex mix of classical orchestrations, cosmic synths, and extreme metal to portray the epics of parallel worlds.

The synopsis of this next album “Enders Door” is in the fifth era of the Avomenian Empire, amidst the planetary ruins of Vaath, a rogue traveler would discover an artifact that would forever change his place in the cosmos.

Upon arriving to retrieve the artifact, it became apparent that Eryos’s brother Nathyiem would never make it to their arranged meeting point.  In departing from the planet Vaath, Eryos received a distress signal from his brother’s ship, coming from an uncharted planet.  Upon arriving, he found a odd world inhabited by a mysterious species called the Dreth led by lecherous matriarch named Eishar.  It is here that he would uncover a faced-door, an inter-dimensional gateway to the Ender.

Inspired by the fictitious universe of Sovael, RAPHEUMETS WELL is the name coined to the conscious deity who oversees the anastomosis of the multiverse, the master of portals and inter-dimensional travel.  Being personified as a trickster, Rapheumet often creates chaos for unsuspecting voyagers.  The word “Well” refers to the gravity wells, which like black holes, are catalyst of change and gateways between the cosmic plains.

Formed in 2008, 2011 and 2012 saw their first two demos followed by their first self release full length ‘Dimensions’ unleashed in 2014 that progressively told a larger story portrayed in a complex saga of Atai (ancient architects) who aid in the propagation of sentient life throughout the multi-verse. In 2016, they released their highly praised sophomore album ‘The Exile’ via Test Your Metal Records.

              Canada’s ANNIHILATOR is the lifework of guitarist Jeff Waters. Founded in 1984, the band took the metal scene by storm with their debut 1989 release “Alice In Hell”, upped the ante with 1990’s “Never, Neverland” and has continued a non-stop career-pattern of releasing records and touring with many of the biggest bands in the metal genre (mostly all outside North America), ever since; cementing ANNIHILATOR as the biggest-selling metal act in Canada’s history.

After 18 months of touring for the band’s latest album “Suicide Society” (nominated for a 2017 Juno Award in the Metal / Hard Rock Album of The Year category), the band is currently finishing up their 16th studio release and is getting ready to headline not only the mighty WACKEN OPEN AIR Festival in Germany (Aug 3), but hit the road for their first Canadian tour since 1993.

The tour will see the band kick off their first date in Victoria, BC on June 13th and travel east wrapping up the tour in Cornwall, ON July 1st during Canada day weekend festivities. This is very big news for Canadian metal fans, both young and “older” whom have been waiting for an ANNIHILATOR tour to return to Canadian soil for over 20 years!

Support on this tour comes from Australia’s MASON whom was ANNIHILATOR’s support in Europe last year & from Montreal, QC thrashers MUTANK who won the acclaimed Wacken Metal Battle Canada contest in 2014 and have also performed at Wacken Open Air.

The band’s founder, Jeff Waters (and guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, producer, engineer, mix engineer, mastering engineer, manager, etc.) was asked how it feels to be “back” touring his home country:

“I have always enjoyed flying the flag for one of the nicest countries and people in the world, despite having very little support from the industry here to play and releasing CDs in Canada. It sure is an honor to be nominated for a Juno, after all these years, and to have the opportunity to tour this great and metal land! It will be some of our best-ever shows this summer. For it’s second year “Black”, Vancouver’s assembly celebrating everything black metal is being held at the Rickshaw Theatre on June 10th. This year’s event will have an art exhibition of black metal culture featuring works from Kevin Eisenlord and lord of logos Christophe Szpajdel. In addition to showcasing their black metal art, Szpajdel will be hosting a very special live art performance piece plus will joined by Youtube sensation Vegan Black Metal Chef for a live cooking segment on stage along with serving a vegan buffet (wrist bands will be sold for the buffet at 10$).

There will also be a short documentary showing about Christophe Szpajdel and his work over the years in the black metal community. Closing the night’s festivities will be local black metal band Svneater.

Black was founded by event organizer and black metal culturist / photographer Kevin Eisenlord along with Abelardo Mayoral, concert promoter at The Invisible Orange. The first Black event was held in June 2016 at Evergreen Cannabis Society as an art exhibition for Eisenlord’s works along with internationally renowned photographer Peter Beste and graphic artist Christophe Szpajdel.
