“Our East Coast Canadian tour created some of the greatest moments of our lives. Now we get to share them with all of you through our new video! “Overthrow”. I also like to add that so many of our fans would love to meet us but are in places we’ve yet to perform. This Overthrow video is a very personal and intimate take on Uforia’s live show and personalities. We hope that it will fill the void until we get back on the road.” comments vocalist / guitarist Michael Ursini.

Uforia’s previous releases include the debut EP Imagining (2012) and the fan-funded follow-up Transmutation (2015). The band has won a number of contests including the Hard Rock Rising Canada contest (2013), the opportunity to open for hometown heroes Billy Talent (2014) and the Jack Daniel’s Supporting Act contest (2016). “Fight or Flight” ranked #4 on the best songs of 2016 at CJIM Montreal’s Rock Station and 91X in Belleville. Oshawa’s 94.9 The Rock FM featured Fight or Flight (EP) on the Best of Generation Next 2016.

“Uforia have released a tight collection of excellent songs and with the re-appearance of other Canadian guitar acts like Billy Talent and the aforementioned Finger Eleven into the mix we could be in for a renaissance in Canadian rock music.” – The Green Room Podcast
“I must say that this band definitely picked a great name for itself. We all know the definition of Euphoria; a feeling or state of intense excitement or happiness. This is exactly how the band portrayed themselves on stage. I was impressed by their stage presence….I see a bright future for this young talented group of musicians. They have great supporters and music mentors on their side. Please check them out when they come to a city near you.” – Concert Addicts
“It’s hard to fake understanding and desire. You get it or you don’t, you want it or you don’t. Uforia definitely has it.” – Steve Molella (Finger Eleven)

Few things go together better than melodic death metal and ancient mythology. The new album from Edmonton, Alberta’s Tides of Kharon, is the latest addition to this perfect combo. ‘Coins Upon Our Eyes’ goes hand in hand with the band name, taken from the lore of the boatman on the river Styx who ferries the dead to the underworld, taking the coins left on the eyes of a corpse as his payment. Tides of Kharon fully embrace the Greek mythology themes in their songs and their first EP is a cumulation of several different tales taking from the ancient pantheon.
Originally started by brothers Cam, Ryan and Justin Rehman in 2014 with a desire to play shows in front of people, Tides of Kharon quickly became a fan favorite in the Edmonton music community. The solidification of Gord Alexander on drums and Garrett Nelson on vocals finally cemented the sound the band sought and the production of the EP could begin. Citing inspiration from titans in the genre including Amon Amarth, At the Gates and early In Flames, the band is definitely in the running alongside their Swedish counterparts.
Their vivid storytelling and engaging stage presence has led them to be invited to play Metallion Festival for the third straight year, and to Loud as Hell for their debut year. They’ve been honoured to share the stage with many other local favorite bands at almost every venue in the city and after the release of the EP are looking to branch out and hit the road on tour.
“We’d describe our sound as something people can involve themselves with. Our lyrics are conceptual in the sense that they tell a story or are related to myth in one form or another. While it hits you hard, we feel that people can relate to the material and get them moving.” – Gord Alexander

0 NEWS: NORDHEIM To Play Festival D’Ete De Quebec July 12th + Launch Indiegogo For “RapThor”, An Album About Bacon And Dinosaurs

(contact info below)
NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – July 6, 2017
For fans of Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Windir, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Kalmah, Wintersun
NORDHEIM To Play Festival D’Ete De Quebec July 12th
Launch Indiegogo For “RapThor”, An Album About Bacon And Dinosaurs

Influenced by bands such as Finntroll, Ensiferum, Kalmah and Wintersun, Quebec City folk metal NORDHEIM will be performing at this year’s Festival D’Ete De Quebec concert series alongside Trollwar at Bar L’Anti on July 12th (full event details can be found here). The Québec City Summer Festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is Canada’s largest outdoor music festival event with 300 shows, 10 stages and 11 days of music from July 6 to 16, 2017. For more info please visit http://infofestival.com.
The band comments:
“We are very pleased to be a part of FEQ’s 50th anniversary. It’s awesome to share the stage with all the great artists performing this year. We’re gonna give the FEQ crowd a metal party that they won’t forget!”
In additional news, NORDHEIM have launched an indiegogo campaign for their forthcoming album entitled “RapThor” to follow their two previous releases “Refill” (2013) and debut “Lost In The North” (2011). Featuring eight tracks with titles such as “Troll Riding A Raptor”, “Boobs And Bacon” and “Dragonthorn”, this third studio recording is dedicated to the epic flavour of bacon, the colossus power of dinosaurs and more.
The band comments:
“‘We want to give the fans one of the heaviest and nastiest folk metal albums to date with ‘RapThor’. It is different from our first two. We had great feedback when we played the songs live. This album is the heaviest of them all while cutting back on the European folklore influences. It’s the result of our hard work over the last few years. It is super-heavy party music!”
NORDHEIM are offering various perks and bundles through their Indiegogo campaign to meet their goal of $3,500 for “RapThor”, which can be found at the following link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rapthor-metal#/
The band has also posted a video message for the campaign at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reFUtNY1K5U

About:
So many bands make listeners choke from their sheer delusional pretentions of grandeur. Not Nordheim, their philosophy is simply to make fun folk metal, as can be evidenced by titles such as ‘Boobs and Bacon’ and ‘I Wish You Were A Beer’!
Inspired by Wintersun, Windir, Finntroll, Equillbrium, and Carcass, guitarist and singer, and main songwriter Warraxe describes Nordheim’s sound as ‘fast, heavy, festive, cold, and catchy!’
Warraxe explains that Nordheim are truly a band of brothers. ‘We are a bunch of guys from Bellechasse, a small region south of the St-Laurent River in the province of Quebec. We were long-time friends and have metal as a common passion, one thing leads to another and we started a band.’
Live Nordheim really show their sense of fun. “When we play live it’s a frickin’ party! We move a lot, scream, hump the air, we drink from the fans’ beer bottles and in turn, we feed them beer, with the help of our friends and roadies coming up on stage and pouring beer in their faces. Usually between songs I’ll be making jokes about anything I can think of, as long as it’s dumb and incoherent! We have a strong sense of ‘bro-ness’ with our fans!”
