Toronto-based metal messiahs DECATUR will be unleashing their debut album “Badder Than Brooklyn” produced by Joe Duplantier of Gojira on October 6th, 2017. Named after their very own street of dreams in New York, where they recorded their debut album at Silvercord Studios in Brooklyn, DECATUR get their unique sound by being opened-minded, not just to each other in this band of brothers, but to different genres, not just of metal, but also the blues, rock ‘n’ roll and even pop. DECATUR’s criteria if it’s good, they can make it better! They focus on evolution not devolution. There is no fear of DECATUR repeating themselves musically; for them…the world is not enough. They see themselves as intrepid explorers, never playing it safe, always looking for new lands to conquer, and in the process drawing on creative powers they never knew they possessed.
Their debut album is all-killer, no filler! It doesn’t hide behind its production; it compliments it. These are truly songs of power and empowerment, a clarion call for strength in life’s battles…healing through headbanging. From the power shredding of “Into The Night” and the storytelling of the album’s title track “Badder Than Brooklyn” to the brutal beat down of songs like “Bottled Inside” and “Internal War”, DECATUR feel modern metal has lost its way and they’re here to provide the roadmap forward to the future!
Teaming up with PureGrainAudio, DECATUR are premiering their second single “Internal War”, a track written about fighting mental illness.
Vocalist and guitarist Jay “Beard” Sarrazin explains:
“This song represents the internal struggle that you go through to conquer mental illness. It’s an issue I have struggled with for my whole life. But I have struggled with it internally. Only recently has it become a discussion in the public eye. The more you talk about it, the more people you realize struggle with it and struggle with it alone. So this song represents that internal battle you go through daily. It’s a lonely war and that may be the hardest part about mental illness. But we are not alone. This song is to shed light on the fact that there are others that struggle.”

NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – September 29, 2017
For Fans of Nightwish, Epica, Kamelot, Wintersun
Italian Symphonic Metal SOUND STORM Announce North American Release of “Vertigo” October 13th
Premiere New Video “Forsaken” via MetalUnderground.com
European Tour Dates w/ MirrorMaze

Unleashing their third studio album “Vertigo” in Europe last December via Rockshot Records, Italian symphonic metallers Sound Storm announce it will now be available in North America officially on October 13th. In celebration of its release on North American shores, the Italian opus masters have teamed up with MetalUnderground.com for the exclusive premiere of their new video “Forsaken” filmed during the band’s performance at the 2016 Lucca Comics and Games, one of Europe’s largest comic cons.
Watch it now at the following link: http://www.metalunderground.com/news/details.cfm?newsid=137182
“Vertigo” was produced in the Netherlands at Sandlane Recording Facilities with Joost Van Den Broek (Epica, Ayreon, Xandria) and is something more than a metal album, the music has a cinematic purpose. The overall concept of “Vertigo” is a Victorian – steam punk story, firstly based on Dante’s Inferno idea and then developed to a more psychological/introspective tale. Gabriel is the main character of the story, an unsuccessful composer who becomes a scientist, starting a war against his troubled mind and forcing himself to destroy everything beloved. The only handhold seems to be a mystic dragonfly, leading Gabriel among the floors of a huge spiral staircase.
Digital and CD album pre-order for North America available on Amazon at https://tinyurl.com/y7fngh4t
In additional news, those in Europe will be able to see Sound Storm‘s live musical as the band enjoys a massive use of cinematic elements (video, fireworks, pyros, led lights etc) to transform their fiction into reality.
The tour will kick off in Herdorf, Germany on September 30th and see the band perform in France, United Kingdom, Belgium and Italy with support from prog metal masters Mirrormaze.

“What you have is a forward looking, very deep and multi-layered progressive album that draws a just bit on past works.” – Metal Underground (Review Vertigo)
“Vertigo offers something really impressive, it is great symphonic power metal with some forward thinking meaning that they sound very fresh and exciting. The arrangements, the songs, everything is great on this album and I don’t think it has any weaknesses – not any worth mentioning anyway. I find this to be very appealing and when it comes to making symphonic power metal I think you will have to look very long and very hard to find anything that rivals these guys.” Hallowed
““Vertigo” is a very accomplished album with great thought given to the music and the lyrics, as well as the atmospheric nature of the record. As in most Symphonic Metal albums, this album features blistering lead guitar work and choir vocals. Operatic vocals and cello melodies are incorporated to give an epic feel to the tracks. However, this album varies from other albums of similar sounding bands due to the band’s commitment towards, not only aural gratification, but also the way they set about creating a visual tapestry with their tunes.” – Metal Temple
“Each song on itself is a masterpiece filled with symphonic and power metal parts accompanied by great guitar riffs and solo’s. To complete the picture with songs like “Metamorphosis” they each tell their own story and yet when they are put together they show us the world of Gabriel the main character…This album is by far one of the best ones to come out in a while, it has the whole package a story, skilled band members, great producing and it’s as original as it can.” – Grimm Gent (Review Vertigo)
“Sound Storm may seem an epic power metal band. Occasionally, they emit a vicious edge. The compelling melodies of singing and guitar work cannot be counted on one hand. Everything is accompanied by a lot of electronic and symphonic pieces. After a brief intro ‘The Dragonfly’ sounds like a fairytale splendor with its many different styles and parts. Everything is brought with a good dose of bombast.” – Lords of Metal (Review Vertigo)
“Like Parmigianino painting a beautiful landscape in the 1500’s, Sound Storm paints its own masterpiece with each band member adding broad strokes to the soundscape of ‘Immortalia.'” – Metal Underground (Review Immortalia)

Seattle has long been a melting pot of great music, a veritable cauldron of creativity. Seattle has given the world bands of the diverse caliber of Heart, Sanctuary and Soundgarden. It is a place where aural alchemy is real and bands know they are in a magical place to create music. Such a band is ARISEN FROM NOTHING, even their name is powerful, conjuring forth images of the phoenix in the flames; a potent symbol of strength and rebirth. Inspired by Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, guitarist Troy Elmore describes ARISEN FROM NOTHING’s sound as “aggressive, driving, groovy, powerful, brutal”.
He is stoked for fans to hear AFN’s new EP “Broken”, which draws inspiration from the state of the world around us and is a strident call for unity.
“There’s a lot of subject matter fans should be able to relate to so I’m hoping it will be received well. Fans will appreciate the new AFN sound, and new direction the band is going in. We wanted songs that had moments of musical complexity but maintain a groove that gets your toes tapping and your head banging.”

In reference to BROKEN, Gary “G.A.” Allen of KHTQ Rock 94½ FM said, “Having followed you guys for awhile now I can honestly say this is one of those DNA in a bands evolution, really well done!”
“Seattle natives Arisen From Nothing have pointed to a possible bright future with the release of this new EP. Modern metal they definitely are, but they employ enough old school techniques – you know, good playing, good songwriting, that kinda thing – to attain a sort of ‘best of both worlds’ state of metal grace that definitely marks them out as ones to watch.” – Sentinel Daily
“Broken, proves to be a 5 tracker of considerable pace and power featuring fluid solos, aggressive verses, semi-melodic choruses and all manner of Disturbed meets Chimaira (oh how we miss Chimaira!) meets Devildriver shenanigans to take a hefty bite out of…Big songs, big performances….Arise From Nothing could rise to be….BIG!” – Worship Metal

“On this album he proves himself to be some kind of instrumental wizard, and a vocal chameleon as well. But he has also surrounded himself with an array of guests that shines like a metal constellation in the night sky.” – No Clean Singing
“”Buried Realm’s debut album The Ichor Carcinoma, which sees the next chapter in the soul key band member Josh Dummer’s, emotionally charged dark twisted vision come to life in the form of a hard hitting, electrifyingly intense experience for fans of Heavy Metal to experience and enjoy.” – Noizze UK
“After the melodic and haunting intro ‘Portal’ sets the tone for the album, listeners are treated to a full-frontal assault in the form of the album’s title track, ‘The Ichor Carcinoma’. This no holds barred shredfest is a perfect demonstration for what is yet to come, and a fantastic introduction to the sound that Buried Realm mastermind Josh Dummer has spent so many years working on. The track also showcases the first of many guest appearances on the album, with Bob Katsionis (Firewind, Revolution Renaissance) letting all hell loose in one of the most daring keyboard solos you’re likely to hear all year.” – Overdrive Mag
“There’s plenty of ear-candy to be found on The Ichor Carcinoma – be it in the form of aggressive melodeath riffing, soaring leads, or sheer vocal variety. While it doesn’t stray far outside of the genre realms, there’s only a handful of releases that one can think of in recent memory that execute it with this much passion and finesse. With its time of release, one hopes that the album doesn’t become lost in the mix of fall juggernauts. This is too strong to be overlooked.” – Dead Rhetoric

Formed in 2009, the memorably named progressive death metal band Pile of Priests have put in the man hours for their metal, supporting legendary bands like Artillery, Vader and Immolation.
Consisting of Evan Salvador on guitar and vocals, Patrick Leyn on bass, and Evan Knight on drums, they independently released their 2015 debut album ‘Void To Enlightenment’.
Never resting on their laurels, they have now recorded a new EP, consisting of three original songs and three covers, entitled ‘Tenebrous Labyrinth’ plus prior to the EP being unleashed a stand alone single ‘Redemption Per Cruciatu’.
Inspired by Death, Edge of Sanity, Old Man’s Child, Cannibal Corpse and the mighty Voivod… Evan Salvador describes his band’s ‘death metal with a twist’.
Pile of Priests aim is to produce a sound inspired by 90s death and thrash metal bands. The trio were disgusted with what they describe as ‘pseudo metal’ and they could feel the resurgence of real metal was coming, and Pile of Priests were going to be at the forefront of this true metal tsunami! Lyrically, Pile of Priests are a firestorm of fury against the injustices of the world, as main songwriter Evan Salvador explains, he focuses on “things that upset me, things that I have true hatred or resentment toward to help conjure creative emotions. Most of our songs are about the fallacies of religion, but also human struggles and current events in the world.”
Evan is stoked for fans to hear Pile of Priests’ new music. “We are very proud of our upcoming EP ‘Tenebrous Labyrinth’. Our sound has evolved on every release and we have agreed that this EP to come is the pinnacle of our sound thus far. It’s fast, evil, melodic and incorporates other styles of metal besides death metal.’
‘Tenebrous Labyrinth’ is due out November 24, 2017
