About Days of The Dead Fest:
Halloween may be about putting on a costume and trick or treating around your city block, but in Red Deer, AB it’s about so much more. The rumours in the area describe a mass pilgrimage, a collective gathering from across Alberta and beyond, a zombie mosh pit coming alive. Are the rumours true…? Well during the Days of The Dead Fest, a Heavy Metal Music Festival Costume Party Extravaganza takes over!
Now in its 4th year, Days of The Dead has grown to a three day event hosting over 30 bands from across Canada for both all ages and 18+ shows for a reunion of friends, music fans and a Halloween aficionados.
The full line up for DOTD 2017 is now ready and fully unleashed with headliners Ninjaspy, WAKE, Dusty Tucker, Without Mercy, West of Hell and more.

Unleashing their new EP “Mixed Messages” this past February to continue their solid chemistry of an ‘Allcore’ metal sound with emotionally stirring and socially conscious lyrics. Toronto, ON’s Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy announce they will be embarking on “The Dead Are Living Canadian Tour” that will see the band performing dates in cities across the Canadian prairies, which includes the Days of The Dead Fest in Red Deer, AB on October 28th with Anciients, Ninjaspy, Dusty Tucker, Without Mercy and more. The band will also be kicking off the tour on October 5th in Toronto, ON supporting Wednesday 13 and Eyes Set To Kill at The Rockpile.

“The last tweet Mitch Lucker ever posted was on Halloween night 2012, which said “The dead are living” so when we were invited to play The Days of The Dead festival in Red Deer, AB on Oct 28th, we decided it would be a great tribute and honour to call our fall Canadian tour “The Dead Are Living Tour”. After all, we are Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy. We start October 5th in Toronto with Wednesday 13 and Eyes Set To Kill and finish up Halloween night with a free show for anyone wearing a costume or our band merch in Oshawa. The “Mixed Messages” EP is a marriage of Adrian Pain’s solo endeavours and The Dead Sexy’s band work to follow EPs “Picture Day At Night School” (2014) and their debut “The First One Is Free” (2013) along with Pain’s solo full length “Love Letters & Suicide Notes” (2012).
Pain describes “Mixed Messages”:
“This release is like the gateway drug to metal and heavier music in general! We appeal to a very wide range of musical tastes so guys can play us for their girlfriends, and girls can play us for the guys. If you identify another way, you can play us for whomever you’d like. If any negative response comes out of it, it’ll be the fans that expect every song to get heavier with each effort. What I hope they notice is the constant evolution of our sound. The music itself is getting more and more diverse and progressive, while the song structures are also evolving into bigger, more complex arrangements. I want everyone that listens to this record to feel an emotional connection. I want people to relate to, and hear the MESSAGE in each track.”

In 2010, vocalist and songwriter Adrian Pain endured events that would have left most men shattered and broken. Unwilling to take prescribed medications for his severe depression, he found inner strength in the form of the lyrics and music that sprang from his suffering. Together with his son and drummer Ethan Clark, formed a new family in the shape of their band, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy. Adrian describes their music as “torment and triumph, sonic seduction.” They have transcended their initial influences of Deftones, Alexisonfire, and Of Mice & Men, to a genre of metal they have given a name of its own. “We like to call what we do ‘Allcore’ … To break it down as far as metal sub-genres go, I think what best describes us would be a blend of Progressive & Nu-metal, with Post-Hardcore & Metalcore …or NuMetalcore if you’d like!”Just as they deliver shock and awe on record, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy‘s live performance is a constant energy exchange. Their sets have a life of their own. 9 String Bass Frankenstein Project VVON DOGMA I Unleashed By Ex-Unexpect Bassist
Premiere New Video “Communion” via New Noise Mag

VVON DOGMA I are pioneers and trailblazers, eschewing moribund genre categorizations to create music both strange and beautiful, to misquote Shakespeare: ‘something unique this way comes’.
Inspired by artists as diverse as Radiohead, Meshuggah, Deftones, James Blake, Jean Baudin, Die Antwoord, Clint Mansell, Igorrr, Arvo Part and Hans Zimmer, VVON DOGMA I’s creative lynchpin Frederick Filiatrault aka ChaotH was driven to form the group when his previous band Unexpect parted ways. He had to find the right musicians and he had to create the right songs on the band’s debut EP “Communion” in order to find inner peace. The EP features four tracks experimenting with elements of prog, djent, funk, and electronic sampling to create a sound truly all their own and will definitely get the true avant-garde tech musicians anticipating more with this small taster.
“The songs were like living entities needing to be drawn into our world. The music is so original it is hard for me to categorise and it will definitely challenge music fans, but ultimately I think it will satisfy them beyond what any generic band copying what has gone before ever could.”
Frederick hopes the fans will get something truly special from the music that is a blend of everything he is musically and is definitely more accessible than what he has done in the past.
“I wanted to feature my freak instrument of a nine-string bass. It is often a Frankenstein of bits and pieces of writing. But I also want people to know it’s not about shredding or anything. I wanted to see how I could apply this weird playing style in a musically accessible venue. My art is song writing plus arranging and the 9 string is only one aspect of it. I find it definitely adds an interesting flavor. Hopefully people will see it for what it is as a whole.”
Teaming up with New Noise Magazine, VVON DOGMA I premiere their video for the EP’s title track, a trip for the true lovers of outside the box thinking. Watch and listen to the bashing low ends from the pummeling and dominating 9 string bass accompanied by the ripping of an 8 string guitar along with some morbid electronic samples for good measure.
