How it works:
Participating cities will host qualifying rounds plus a city final organized by a local city concert promoter where one band will move forward to the American national final (date and city to be determined). The winner of the national final will move on to perform at the Wacken Open Air 2024 and compete against the winners of 30 other countries in a final global battle. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry representatives.

0 Canada’s DREAM HEAVY’s New Single “Survival” ft. Haida Hip Hop Artist Ms.PANIK Warns of An Imminent Apocalyptic Future

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 4, 2024

Canada’s DREAM HEAVY’s New Single “Survival” ft. Haida Hip Hop Artist Ms.PANIK Warns of An Imminent Apocalyptic Future

New EP Coming 2025

Weaving together ethereal vocals, rich harmonies, and intricate guitar along with violin melodies, Dunster, BC, Canada’s Dream Heavy is a melodic and enchanting world folk metal group. This past June, the band revealed their single “Song In The Dark” while they toured across British Columbia this summer.

With a plan to release their yet-to-be-titled upcoming EP next year, the band is proud to present their latest thought-provoking single “Survival”.

“Survival” (originally titled “Extinction”) was originally written in 2019 and early 2020 as a central theme for Wishbone Theater Productions’ original Stage Play: “The Last Good Valley”, a somewhat macabre and darkly humorous fantasy of a possible imminent apocalyptic future.

The creation of this piece of music took on a life of its own as the production was ironically halted due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

At the time of the outbreak of the pandemic, Dream Heavy was just in the process of transitioning from playing as the “Samson’s Delilah” duo to the bigger heavier sound of the full band.

Band members were also personally involved in assisting and supporting the Wet’su’weten Hereditary Chiefs and land defenders in their fight against Coastal GasLink and the colonial governments of Canada and British Columbia who were illegally forcing a fracked gas pipeline across their territory.

Considering the lyrical content of the song and the tense decolonization struggles being undertaken by their friends and allies at the time, Dream Heavy enlisted the help of Haida Hip Hop artist Ms.PANIK to write and record the mid-section of the track.

The band comments on “Survival”:

“Survival is both a stark reminder of the dire consequences of unmitigated climate change and a reminder of the still unresolved horrors of colonization. But it also offers a glimmer of hope to the listeners of an end to the “Colonial Apocalypse” and a focus on healing. This is a song that will have audiences dancing for change!”

Listen to “Survival” ft. Ms.PANIK at the following links:

YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFIKX_3J0iI

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3ZG9HYv

Dream Heavy comes from the ashes of beloved bands like Mamaguroove and Samson’s Delilah and credits their unique sound to a plethora of influences from metal, Latin, Celtic, and other world music traditions. Their music, characterized by its intensity and thought-provoking lyrics, has captivated audiences across Canada and beyond, earning them a place on campus radio Top 10 lists.

Reflecting on the band’s long journey, they share that Dream Heavy‘s sound has evolved from each member’s collective passion for sound, movement, and justice. With their forthcoming EP, they aim to create a sonic and lyrical soundscape that demands to be heard in its entirety—a journey of self-discovery and contemplation. Dream Heavy is recommended for fans of boundary-pushing music in the veins of Porcupine Tree, Kalandra, and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Forged by ancient magic deep in the sandstone depths of Nottingham, UK, Tigguo Cobauc‘s spellbinding guitar riffs over primal rhythm are the sound of your darkest desires.

Beginning their journey with the 2022 debut “Trial by Combat”, this birth into the constellations was steeped in the murky depths of Death/Doom, cloaked in a sludgy resonance. From these beginnings, they gradually evolved, transcending into realms infused with black metal’s ethereal atmospheres, where shadows and intensity intertwined.

Unraveling their latest album “Fountains of Anguish”, this past April in Europe, the blackened doom duo of Luc Martello and Reno Ramos announces the re-release of this second full-length in North and South America via Exitus Stratagem Records digitally and CD on December 20th, 2024, and on Vinyl (release date to be announced at a later date).

The band comments:

“We have already unveiled the album in Europe, and the resonance it has garnered has been nothing short of remarkable. The reviews have painted a vivid tapestry of praise, while the response during our live demonstrations has sparked an exuberant and electrifying communion with our audience. Fountains of Anguish stands as a vivid snapshot of our artistic essence in 2023, encapsulating the intricate layers of our sound and vision. It reflects the alchemical fusion of our influences, embodying the raw emotion, complexity, and depth that characterize our current trajectory. This work crystallizes our evolution, a testament to our sonic exploration and collective spirit, serving as both a beacon and a mirror of our artistic journey. This collaboration with Exitus Stratagem Records not only amplifies our reach, but also solidifies our commitment to sharing our art with a broader audience. We are excited to embark on this journey and connect with fans who resonate with our sonic vision.”

The sound of “Fountains of Anguish” is an amalgamation of classic black metal, reinterpreted with a modern sensibility, and infused with doomy elements that evoke a sense of atmospheric weight. Tigguo Cobauc has seamlessly integrated keyboards into their compositions, adding depth and texture to enhance the listening experience. Through this unique blend, they aspire to infuse their music with a distinctive touch of originality, creating a soundscape that resonates with the genre’s traditions and contemporary influences.

“This record is enriched by the newly woven atmospheres that ascend the ordinary, transforming into a profound ritualistic communion with the audience. Each note reverberates like an incantation, inviting a shared journey into the depths of sound that beckons a collective transcendence.” adds the band.

Listen to the lead single “Craving for Slay”, a quintessential black metal onslaught, balancing modern sensibilities with melodic vocals and fierce screams, while preserving the hallmark heavy doom elements familiar to Tigguo Cobauc.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 3, 2024

ANIMA INSIDE New Single / Music Video “Alien” Captures The Essence of Their Evolution In Expanding Their Musical Fusion

Anima Inside, one of South America’s (Ecuador) most dynamic and boundary-pushing rock bands, returns with their latest single, “Alien”. This track offers a mesmerizing preview of the band’s forthcoming album set to release in 2025. True to their spirit of innovation, the band describes “Alien” as one of their most unique creations. It captures the essence of their evolution—an ever-expanding fusion of styles that remains unmistakably their own.

With its hypnotic blend of influences, “Alien” delivers a fresh and timeless sound. The song features an intricate guitar solo, vibrant rhythmic layers, and an emotive message that resonates deeply with today’s listeners. As the band puts it, “It’s probably the strangest song we’ve ever created, but it has something that makes you want to hear it over and over. The fusion, the solo, the message—it’s very Anima Inside and incredibly current.”

Since their beginnings in 2006, Anima Inside has been known for its ability to blend progressive rock roots with modern, mainstream accessibility. “Alien” encapsulates this evolution perfectly, balancing technical prowess with a raw emotional edge. The song’s themes of alienation and introspection echo the band’s ongoing exploration of the human condition, a recurring motif in their music.

This single marks the next step in a career that has seen Anima Inside perform alongside legends like Ozzy Osbourne, Deep Purple, and KISS, and share stages at major festivals such as Hell and Heaven Fest Mexico and Domination MX. Their sound has always defied easy categorization, weaving elements of progressive rock, Andean rhythms, and Afro-Latin influences into a style that is distinctly their own.

“Alien” is a testament to the band’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries while staying true to their roots. It serves as both a standalone piece of art and a tantalizing introduction to the sonic journey their upcoming album promises to deliver. With its unforgettable hooks, striking instrumentation, and profound lyrics, the track is a perfect reflection of the versatility and artistry that define Anima Inside.

As the band prepares for the release of their next full-length record, “Alien” stands as a bold statement of intent, showcasing their ability to innovate while maintaining the essence of what has made them one of the most recognized names in South American rock. Keep an eye on Anima Inside as they gear up for what promises to be an extraordinary 2025, and don’t miss “Alien” now available on all major streaming platforms.

What the press is saying:

“Located an hour and a half east of Calgary is the town of Drumheller, Alberta. With a population in the neighborhood of 8000 and existing smack dab in the middle of Canada’s desert and dinosaur country, it’s not a place one would immediately associate with any sort of metal scene, let alone a big-ass outdoor metal fest. But that’s where you’d be wrong. Going into its 11th year, the Loud as Hell Festival is set to roll on August 4-6th with the likes of Narcotic Wasteland, Jungle Rot and Incite headlining three days of metallic fun featuring 40 or so bands, including The Convalesence, Gorgatron, Necronomicon, Untimely Demise, Eyes of Perdition and more.” – Decibel Magazine

“Western Canada’s loudest heavy metal festival brings fans to town more known for dinos than drum solos.” – CBC Calgary

“What’s more metal than the badlands? Drumheller, AB, is known for being the dinosaur capital of the world — but it’s also the home of the Loud as Hell festival, an event celebrating none other than the loudest music known to man (and, by proxy, prehistoric reptile).” – Exclaim!

“Loud as Hell – one of Canada’s top underground metal festivals – was a metal family reunion. If you walked around the grounds, where tents covered the landscape like flowers, you would experience concert goers laughing, hugging and just enjoying the moment. The music played non-stop and the people were some of the best you’ll meet. What else do you need? If you’re a metalhead fan, mark it down for next year because this is a concert you don’t want to miss.” – Blackfalds Life

“Headbanger alert: Loud As Hell festival to ramp up the volume” – Calgary Herald

“Nevermind the bug spray and sun tan lotion, as August approaches Drumheller residents should stock up on earplugs.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud As Hell returns to the southern Alberta city for its seventh year and as its name implies, will rock the city to its core.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud as Hell has celebrated eight years in the Badlands to date, with acts from all over the world-shattering the peace and quiet of the hills in a camping and music extravaganza.” – Hanna Herald

“Drumheller with its dinosaur bones is the site of the annual Loud as Hell heavy metal festival Friday through Sunday. Dozens of the heaviest bands known to Man will be taking the stage, many of them Canadian” – Gig City

==========================================

About The Single Artwork:

Kiryu: As before, we asked Nanjijun to create the crazy guro-style cover art for us.

About the song:

Kiryu: This song was inspired by the anime Girls und Panzer. We really love the military otaku culture in the anime, so we created a song with cute melodies but still brutal, just like the characters in the anime who are kawaii girls but drive tanks into battle.

==========================================

Fun Facts – Story Angles

1. In our 2018 split album, I didn’t actually write any lyrics; all vocals were just meaningless gutturals.

2. Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship was initially supposed to be a grindcore band.

3. The vocals on our first EP sounded extremely overloaded, but it wasn’t intentional—the vocal accidentally increased the volume when exporting.

4. Most people think we are from Japan, but we are actually from China.

5. The band’s name originated from a meme in China in 2014.

==========================================

Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship was founded in 2014 by lead vocalist Kiryu Zhang. The initial lineup included Kiryu Zhang, Itsuca, composer Khezk, guitarist Senjougahara Yousei, and guitarist Nibiru. In 2016, the band completed their debut EP “μ’Sick” and released it on Bandcamp and the Slam Worldwide channel. They also used this EP to participate in Japan’s largest doujinshi market, Comiket Market, where it received excellent feedback. Following this success, the band signed with Stillbirth Records to prepare for future releases. The EP has since accumulated over two million streams on Spotify.

In 2018, the band was invited by the American grindcore band Cheerleader Concubine to collaborate on an eight-track split album. However, due to personal commitments, most of the original members, except Kiryu Zhang and Khezk, left the band. Despite this setback, the band continued to compose new material and eventually found a new guitarist, Jiakang Hu, in 2019. With the new lineup, Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship completed their first full-length album, which was released in 2023.

In 2024, the band welcomed Zen on bass and Derek on drums, solidifying the current lineup. Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship embarked on the “Brutal Impact” China tour and participated in numerous indoor music festivals across China. They also took part in the death metal festival Deathfeast Open Air in Germany and held a successful headlining show in Thailand.

Achievements:

  • Released debut EP “μ’Sick” in 2016
  • Collaborated on an eight-track split album with Cheerleader Concubine in 2018
  • Completed and released their first full-length album in 2023
  • Embarked on “Brutal Impact” nationwide tour in China
  • Participated in the death metal festival Deathfeast Open Air in Germany
  • Headlined a show in Thailand
  • Reached over one million streams on Spotify for each album/EP

Current Projects: Dehumanizing Itatrain Worship is currently working on their next full-length album, with plans to release it in 2025. The band continues to tour and perform live, building on their growing fanbase and reputation in the brutal death metal and anime slam scenes.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 29, 2024

BERIEDIR Reveals New Music Video “Neon” Off New Album “Liminal Spaces” Out Jan 2025

Beriedir proudly unleashes “Neon”, the second and newest single from their forthcoming third album “Liminal Spaces” set to be released in January 2025 via Rockshots Records.

Following their 2022 album “AQVA” and the amazing reception of the first single “Halo”, released just a few weeks ago, this song showcases the band’s evolution even further.

“Neon” dives deeper into the new album’s liminal aesthetic, leading the listener through empty halls and corridors to get lost in, accompanied by the ominous yet somewhat comforting hums of buzzing neon lights. Both lirically and musically, “Neon” is a compelling work of modern progressive metal. If the first single “Halo” introduced some of the themes explored in “Liminal Spaces” – melancholia, longing, and the search for understanding – “Neon” brings them to full expression, setting the tone for the whole record.

“Neon is a representation of what we experience when our perception falters, and we’re guided through existence just by our dreams and fears. This track brings to the table an even stronger taste of what our new album is going to be”. adds the band.

With “Liminal Spaces” Beriedir fully embraces a progressive and experimental sound, moving away from their power metal origins. “Neon” will enthrall fans of Pain of Salvation, Leprous, Katatonia, and Gojira, promising a deep and reflective journey. The compelling aesthetic choices, the variety of the sections and the pop-worthy refrains make “Neon” the perfect song to listen to over and over while waiting for “Liminal Spaces”.

To accompany the single, Beriedir will also release the song’s official music video, leading you in those same neverending corridors and halls.

Don’t miss the opportunity to dive into this new chapter of Beriedir’s story, prepare yourself to experience the newest glimpse of “Liminal Spaces”.

Beriedir offers a sound that, throughout their discography, spans from progressive power metal—characterized by its signature, neck-breaking choruses—to a contemporary progressive identity, delivering tight rhythms, gargantuan emotional sections, and earth-shattering, surgically precise breakdowns. This powerful musical package is wrapped in introspective themes, melancholic and nostalgic, creating a dark and enveloping aesthetic.

The band originated as a project by frontman Stefano Nüsperli and began their live career in 2015 with the release of their first demo, The Line. From that point on, they have participated in numerous musical events, such as Fosch Fest 2016, and have had the opportunity to share the stage with renowned metal acts like Korpiklaani and Pathfinder.

In 2018, they released their debut full-length album, The Path Beyond the Moon, which allowed them to reach a broader audience. Following the release of their acoustic EP, Lullabies Beyond the Moon (2020), Beriedir signed with Rockshots Records in January 2022 for the release of their second full-length, AQVA, which features Ivan Giannini (Vision Divine, Derdian) as a guest on the track Stormbound. The album received enthusiastic reviews from the press and was warmly welcomed by listeners. As a bonus track, the band released the single Send Me An Angel, a cover of the song by Vision Divine.

Following the album’s release, Beriedir performed several live shows, sharing the stage with prominent bands from both the Italian and international scenes, such as Stratovarius, ELEGY, Moonlight Haze, Trick or Treat, Strana Officina, Derdian, Crying Steel, and others.

After a period focused on live performances and production sessions—including the release of a well-received cover of Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary in 2023—the band released Elegies From The Lighthouse, an EP featuring acoustic reinterpretations of tracks from AQVA, in September 2024. Shortly thereafter, they announced their third full-length album, Liminal Spaces, scheduled for release in January 2025, once again through Rockshots Records, and preceded by the launch of two singles.

“Melodies accompanied by explosive rhythms” – Loud And Proud

“I am utterly convinced that Beriedir will begin to achieve a level of success that their obvious talent fully deserves.” – Man Of Much Metal

“Not only will Beriedir pull your face off, but they’ll do it at breakneck speed in 5/4 time. ‘Aqva’ is a fast-paced album, thrashing machine gun powered guitars do endless battle with the fanfare of keyboards which blast with all the fun of those Euro-pop power metal sound.” – The Metal Crypt

“Metaphysical lyrics […] Through the entire song I thought somehow that a whole orchestra is with the band, so these guys truly know how to play their instruments properly and make magic out of them.” – Abaddon Magazine

“The word “elegant” comes to mind to describe the atmosphere of this album. None of these songs is superfluous. The strength of this release lies in the coherence and articulation of the songs. This clever structure supports an emotional journey. It evokes gigantic waves crashing on your heads.” – Metal Express Radio

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 28, 2024

HELLFIRE 76 Turn Up The Volume With New High Octane Southern Metal Album “Rags to Rage”

Southern Metal powerhouse duo Hellfire 76 has now released their first full-length album “Rags to Rage”. The eight-track collection, clocking in at 31 minutes, represents a perfect distillation of the band’s heavy Southern stoner devil metal sound. They delve into a variety of topics from critical examination of dictatorships and religion to personal, relatable experiences. The comment on the record:

“The album is a continuation of our first release, in that the subject matter is all thought-provoking. As for a lot of music, we want the lyrics to be literal but also open to the listener’s interpretation. Sticking with the theme and ideas of Voodoo, Witchcraft, The Occult, and other oddities. We want to take the listeners on a dark and ominous journey into a place they don’t normally think about. Musically, it’s straight up, fuzzed out, uptempo jams, but with the various lyrical topics, it gives the listener a little more to chew on.”

Recorded at Catalyst Recording in Charlotte, NC with producer Rob Tavaglione, “Rags to Rage” draws deeply from the well of Southern Gothic tradition and occult themes. The album showcases the duo’s remarkable ability to create a massive sonic landscape with just two members, featuring Von Bury’s (LOVESUCKER, BLOODY HAMMERS) multi-instrumental talents (guitar, bass, organ, vocals) alongside Mike McGuiness’s (FACE THE WORLD) powerful drumming.

The heavy dose of fuzzy, groove-laden rock will appeal to fans of doom, stoner rock, and traditional metal especially those with an interest in Clutch, Killing Joke, and Fu Manchu.

The Über Rock Singles Club Daily Pick – Hellfire 76 – The Omen (Nov 2, 2024)

“Dark, mysterious, foreboding, yet strangely inviting. This is the latest single (The Omen) from HELLFIRE ‘76, a band that brings together the things you love about heavy music: bold, swinging riffs, gruff manic vocals, crunchy chugging rhythms. “The Omen” has got it all going on, which lyrically “is about how religion uses fear to prey on weak minds to do the dirty work.”” – Doomed and Stoned

“The song (Rags To Rage) is a major rager perfect for a road-trip playlist!” – Ghost Cult Magazine

“The BLISTERING new album “Rags To Rage” from Hellfire 76 is waiting to be unleashed to the masses on Nov. 29th! One of the outstanding tracks from the album is the new single “The Omen” and it’s one hell of a track. A broody beginning gives way to a haunting tale and a heavy bluesy rhythm harkens back to some of the best Blue Oyster Cult material of the 70’s. At last, the riffs arrive and we are right in the middle of a heavy-duty jam with mean vocals at the helm. An eclectic journey you won’t want to miss, catch Hellfire 76 on your Home for the Best New Rock…” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll

“Drink the concoction prepared by the band, a cocktail of blood riffs, genuine rhythms and distorted vocals that you can find in the dirtiest pubs in New Orleans! Fans of Kyuss, ZZ Top, Killing Joke, The Melvins and Clutch will be thrilled!” – Heavy Mag

“In the radius of bituminous rhythms, nevertheless animated by a Rock energy, we frankly opt more for cousinage with CLUTCH, a formation that has always been able to evolve between thickness, melody and conciseness. With, as a bonus, these hints of greasy and oily Blues which inject a kind of groove and sap within a Metal which should not silence or ignore its affinities with the severe and groovy Metal proper to Pantera.” – Integral Metal

“Hellfire 76 comes at you hard and heavy and without mercy.” – Doomed Nation

“Hellfire 76, A duo devoted to rampaging Stoner-Doom-Psych-Metal, which swings to dense blues licks that suggest a Triceratops mating with a Sherman Tank!” – Q C Nerve

The Hellfire 76 use the masks of voodoo, witchcraft, the occult and tarot cards to tell us stories of how Evil has taken over our world, ruled by liars, impostors and careerists. People are flooded with a river of lies, perpetrated by governments and the Church, which obscure our view of the Truth.” – Progressive Rock Journal

L-R – Eric Gorzynski – Vocals/Guitar, Alex Graham – Backup Vocals/Bass, Colton Schofield – Drums, John Hermary – Vocals/Guitar

Kelowna, BC, Canada’s rising psychedelic stoner rock outfit SweetBeast is stoked to reveal their new single “Dream Eater” taken off their debut album “Illusions”. The single showcases the band’s signature blend of celestial psychedelia and earth-shaking desert rock across its hypnotic 5:29 runtime. The band comments:

“This track holds a special place in our hearts, as it has been with us on our journey since the inception of SweetBeast in 2018. “Dream Eater” explores the delicate interplay between dreams and reality, capturing the essence of fleeting thoughts and whimsical fantasies. With its haunting melodies and evocative lyrics, we aim to transport our audience to a world where the subconscious reigns supreme.”

With this single, as with the entire album, SweetBeast is aiming to give fans a fully immersive listening experience as they ferry them through the deep, heavy grooves and layered, psychedelic soundscapes as if they’re on a journey through the mind or some otherworldly place.

The record “Illusions” is characterized by low-tuned guitars, swirling effects, and a lockstep rhythm section that creates a dense, atmospheric foundation for the band’s explorations. The album’s lyrical content draws from personal experiences and societal observations, examining themes of love, struggle, and the quest for authenticity in modern life. Each song invites listeners to confront their realities while being swept away by the band’s hypnotic grooves and mind-bending progressions.

SweetBeast invites you to lose yourself in their cosmic fusion, a living, breathing entity that wants you to explore the echoes of reverberating guitars and the rhythmic heartbeat of the desert. They are especially recommended for fans of Queens Of The Stone Age, All Them Witches, and Alice In Chains.

“SweetBeast creates tunes akin to an acid trip in the 70s — ideal for headbanging and perfect for getting lost in.” – Kelowna Now

“Making their first appearance on stage in Vancouver after making the trek from Kelowna, something I always appreciate. Shows the band believes they have something more people need to hear and are willing to live the road life to spread their sound. With this confidence comes a great live show, exactly what we got last night. Still grooving in the stoner/psych rock vein, SB leaned into the psychedelic direction a little more. Some great damn rock songs in here lead by a great singer armed with a voice that fit the vibe/sound so well. Fuzz heavy guitars shredding away and more than a few great little solos gave this set its flavor. Got some heavy 70’s era psychedelic vibes with all the wonderful squeals and squeaks coming from them. Just beautiful. Far and away though, the sexiest part of this offering were those drums. With the drummer exuding confidence in their ability, they gave us a great set full of wonderful licks and fills. Always in command on each song they were a blast to watch, full of fun grooves to dance to.” – Elder God Productions (Live Review – RED GATE 22/11/03 – Vancouver)

Video Endorsement from Dave Catching (Queens of the Stone Age / Eagles of Death Metal / Rancho De La Luna recording studio): Dave Catching Intro For SweetBeast at Tune It Down Turn It Up 2020

“They have beautiful harmonies and great melodies, I can’t wait to get them down here to make the album they deserve to make and unleash it upon the world..” – Dave Catching
