Fueled by a passion to bring horrific and grotesque sounds to their fans, Ottawa’s A SCAR FOR THE WICKED (ASFTW) are revealing their new lyric video “Born From The Grave” via BeheadingTheTraitor in support of their upcoming third EP “The Unholy” set to be unearthed on June 29, 2018.

Watch “Born From The Grave” at the following link:

Full of face melting heaviness and a dark and evil atmosphere that offers more sickening death metal to the unsuspecting world “The Unholy” follows their 2012 Machiavellian hymn to the dead “Scars” and 2014’s brutal assault “The Necrobutcher”.

The band comments:

“‘The Unholy’ is a step up from our previous EP ‘The Necrobutcher’. It’s heavier, more technical, faster, more melodic and flows very well from front to back. Silverwing Studios did an excellent production. The vocals often alternate from low to high in range and is accompanied by powerful backing-vocals. Every track is hard hitting and overall the EP and lyrical content have a very dark feel to them.”

Since 2010, Ottawa’s A SCAR FOR THE WICKED has been clawing their way through the Eastern Canadian metal scene playing fast, evil and energetic songs inspired by horror shows and films. Their favorite themes encompass zombies, demons and other evil creatures and for them, each song is executed as a short horror story accompanied by heavy music. Like most horror stories this is not for the faint of heart. There is a fair amount of gore, death and of course a very evil atmosphere, which is reflected in the band name as well.

Guitarist Joe Lyko explains:

“A Scar For The Wicked was really a twist on “people marking the houses of where witches live, a mark on them so people knew to stay away, a scar as we like to look at it”, I always liked the idea of thinking every time we play we leave a mark on the crowd, something to remind them of us.”

A SCAR FOR THE WICKED will be hosting an EP release show in their hometown of Ottawa on June 29th at Mavericks with a line up of the city’s most deathly metal bands. For more info, please visit here.

EP Pre-Order available on the ASFTW’s Bandcamp here.

“One of Ottawa’s most promising death metal bands” – Ottawa Showbox

” A Scare For The Wicked will assault and infect anything that comes in contact with their aggressive, scathing melody with daring lyrical context, that is layered on pure attack force!” – Nataliez world

” Without a doubt and from the very beginning the duel vocalists make themselves stand out by implementing a solid mix of shrill highs and gutturals; hitting hard and quick, the two opposites occasionally find themselves entwined, as in “Silence Vile Temptress” and the spine tingling growl at the beginning of “Surrounded by Giants”. ” – Volume Sins (Review of The Necrobutcher 2014)

Montreal, QC – June 13, 2018

For fans of Veil of Maya, Between The Buried And Me, Protest The Hero

FALLEN LEGION Premiere New Video “Way Out” via MetalMasterKingdom

New EP “Downfall” Out Now!

Unleashing their new EP entitled “Downfall” last month on May 18th, whiplash tyrants FALLEN LEGION have teamed up with Metal Master Kingdom for the premiere of their new music video “Way Out”, which can be viewed at the following link: https://www.metalmasterkingdom.com/home/fallen-legion-premiere-way-out-video

“Downfall” features six energetic, unorthodox, progressive, spirited and memorable tracks plus guest vocals and keyboard from Cradle of Filth‘s Lindsay Schoolcraft on “New Skin”. The EP follows FALLEN LEGION‘s two well-received demo EPs “Screams From The Dungeon” (2012) and “Infinite Archive” (2015). Consisting of Nick Sauter on guitars, Jon Kal on bass, Josh Masterson on vocals and Dylan Waybrant on drums, the band presents an eclectic metal brigade of influences from Gojira, Korn, Iron Maiden, Dethlok and Antonio Vivaldi.

The band comments:

“This EP is about dealing with stress- mortal blows, drugs, thoughts of suicide, the inner struggle, and the wrath of it all. The EP represents the outcome of painful experiences. Songs like ‘Escapegoat’ deal with not being able to handle the consequences of one’s actions and pushing them onto those weaker than yourself, and ‘Monster Reborn’-about letting the guilt build up inside, trapping one within their own mental anguish.”

The band is not shy when it comes to hitting the road having performed with bands like Soilwork, Havok, Unearth, Battlecross and 36 Crazy Fists. They are currently wrapping up their Southern Ontario shows in support of “Downfall” on “The Weekend Warriors Tour” with one remaining concert on June 16th in Sudbury, ON at The Asylum.

Show Dates:
June 16 – The Asylum – Sudbury, ON – info

“Downfall” is available on FALLEN LEGION‘s official website here, iTunes,  Amazon, CD Baby and Spotify.

MEKA NISM Premiere Music Video “Trailblazer”

New EP “The War Inside” Out Now!

L-R – James Christopher Lane, Jarret Robinson, Meka Kyoto, Jay Adkisson, Bobby Keller – Photo Credit by Barry Nadler
Orlando, Florida’s MEKA NISM’s sound is powerful, metallic, aggressive, melodic, and in your face. A band that fires on all cylinders and with the most charismatic front-woman “Meka”; the band has returned in 2018 with their new EP “The War Inside” released earlier this spring on May 10th to follow their three previous releases “Live From The Machine Shop” (Live CD) (2016), “The Shift” (EP) (2015) and “The Dance At The End of The World” (EP) (2013).  The band has supported legends like Mastodon, Gojira, The Offspring, Limp Bizkit, Otep and In Flames over the years along with most recently Jonathan Davis (Korn) this past May.
The band’s new EP “The War Inside” stands for the ability to face your inner demons, conquer your internal battles, and to help realize that you can change your life for the better. That message is evident in their new music video for their infectious song “Trailblazer”, a heavy, fast tune that revolves around the idea of not letting regret or tragedy stop you from living your life to the fullest while you can. Your state of mind can imprison you or set you free.

“Did anyone order a soul crushing, female fronted metal band?” – Idobi Radio

“While there’s a distinct modern metal feel to Meka Nism, the key to what makes their sound more unique and engaging is the pool of influences that they draw from…they have managed to find their own style within it – one that you will have a hard time forgetting once you hear it. A band that could easily find themselves on the rise as word starts to get around.” – Dead Rhetoric

“What would happen when you lock Arch Enemy and Lacuna Coil in the same room and force them to record an album? Well, you’d probably get something like Florida residents Meka Nism.” – Merchants of Air

“They experiment with melodies, dipping their toes in and out of a pool of sounds and influences. Then, they combine these creative expressions with the most important element of their music: the message. Meka Nism doesn’t just deliver thrashing tunes; it seeks to deliver listeners from their own wars inside. ” – Shockwave Mag

“A little bit of keyboard, a thumping drum beat followed by roaring riffs leads into the blazing hot title track. A track that mixes modern metal with operatic style scope. That element comes from the incredible range on singer Ms. Meka. She can go from huge soaring melodies to heavier shouts and screams in an instant. Incredible.” – Games, Brains & A Head-Banging Life

“It’s honest, heavy and packed full of some of the most amazing elements of metal music infused with some of the most versatile, controlled and distinct vocals in metal music today.” – Yesterdaze News

“Meka Nism is a band to watch. ” – Sonic Cathedral

“Lead singer Ms. Meka is intriguing and quite compelling, both visually and with her vocal range,  and the guys in her band provide the perfect vehicle for the artistic vision that they’ve managed to create together.” – I’m Music Magazine

“Full of energy, this band never fails to strike a chord with everyone sharing the stage from the audience. Meka’s vocals are the antithesis of the ever-present smile on her face that lights up the room. This lovely woman genuinely smiles with her eyes. The entire band is simply memorizing. Meka Nism is one of those bands that must be seen live. Don’t hesitate to meet them either. All of them are engaging, genuine and make you feel like the rock star! ” – Metal Nexus

“Orlando’s metal/operatic band, MekaNism performed songs which included “From Out of Nowhere” and “Mekamorphosis,” which got the crowd hyped for their set. Ms. Meka, with her melodious sound and great enthusiasm, was so engaged and energized throughout the performance. The rest of the band was bursting with the same energy and truly put on a memorable show.” – (Live Review) Monkey Goose Magazine

  • · Insurrection

The vocalist has a deep, barking growl style that fits the catchy (yes, catchy) death metal here like a glove. The band strikes a good balance between heaviness, brutality and melody. The band thrashes along relentlessly and the end result is an interesting and fun, diverse album. I found it easy to just leave the album on repeat play and not get tired of it. Of the Insurrection material I’ve heard so far, this is certainly their best album.

“The Possibilities Are Endless” Out Now!

Tres Thomas – Photo Credit: Kirsten Robinson

Forming his one man shred-a-thon INFINITEE in 2016, Tres Thomas, guitarist of death metal band Tales Of The Tomb created the iconoclastic beast to forge his own musical path different from the extremes he usually performs. Inspired by My Chemical Romance, Dance Gavin Dance, Plini, Modern Day Babylon, The Contortionist, INFINITEE’s sound is a mix of djenty, heavy, dynamic, melodic and progressive influences as showcased on his recently released debut album “The Possibilities Are Endless”.

Teaming up with Idobi Radio, INFINITEE is sharing with fans a new guitar playthrough medley for “Xenocybin” and “Lost” at the following link: http://ido.bi/5qy

Thomas comments:

“I’m so stoked to premiere the new play through to everyone! It’s been a lot of hard work making the video, so I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did making it! It’s a double feature of both songs Xenocybin and Lost. Both songs tell a story about taking alien mushrooms and getting lost in your own mind during the trip. Xenocybin is more groove based and influenced by bands more like Modern Day Babylon, Meshuggah and Car Bomb. Lost is more technical and features more flare like The Faceless, Miseration and Born Of Osiris. The video is shot on the Edmonton Legislative grounds. Special thanks to Kirsten Robinson for filming! Thanks everyone for checking it out.”

INFINITEE’s debut album “The Possibilities Are Endless” is now available on Bandcamp, iTunes and Spotify.

“Filled to the brim with captivating melodies and brutal precision, the band raises their own bar on the upcoming EP, and will surely twist some heads in the future.” – Metal Injection

“It’s catchy while maintaining aggression, and the melodic guitarwork is quite frequently the highlight of each track.” – Dead Rhetoric

“this EP is a real stand-out, well-varied, aggressive as fuck and loaded with metallic brilliance. ” – Merchants of air

“A Scar For The Wicked show promise, and if you’re a big fan of bands like The Black Dahlia Murder and Suicide Silence, it’s still worth checking this one out. And hey, if they tour through your area, that will be a set worth catching.” – Overdrive Music Magazine

“A Scar for the Wicked has summoned a new age of carnage, which you’ll only be able to witness following the musical decapitation performed in The Unholy.” – Rekt Chords Magazine

“Right off the bat my favorite thing about The Unholy (EP) is how it injects blackened elements into their take on, what I guess is considered, technical death metal. Riffs are relentless and there is no lack of technicality…ASFTW offers a lot on The Unholy (EP) in a short amount of time. I think every song is equally good in different ways, but if you only have time for a couple then I recommend “Evil Within” and “Born from the Grave.” 8/10 – PIG SQUEALS AND BREAKDOWNS

“This EP is a complete force of death as it ushers forth seven life draining and blood letting rituals. Through and through this is a monstrous and devastating record, one that piles you up among the rest of the cadavers once everything is all said and done. The Unholy is a savage and unhinged release that aims to drain your marrow from the very get go as it stampedes forth without warning pushing your life to the brink. ” – Cadaver Garden

“Damn! That is about all I can start off this review with.  I haven’t heard a new band that I can say has instantly hooked me with their music for quite some time.  A Scar For The Wicked has completely blown me away.  I had never heard of this band until today when I got the chance to review their new EP  The Unholy.” – Yesterdaze News

“One of Ottawa’s most promising death metal bands” – Ottawa Showbox

” A Scare For The Wicked will assault and infect anything that comes in contact with their aggressive, scathing melody with daring lyrical context, that is layered on pure attack force!” – Nataliez world

=====================

SHORT BIO:

Born in blood, screams and agony, Adam Semler was destined to a life of tortured creations. Son of a vile temptress, silenced brutally for her crime, he slowly learned that music was the only way he could express his rage to exist. To spread this hatred, he reached out to two dangerous brothers, equally brilliant, charismatic, and evil: Joe Lyko and Ryan Keyneres. Both giants surrounded by an aura of strength, they brought to the project a dark powerful voice to be heard, and fingers of doom to torture with painful strings. Preparing for a blood ritual that would unite them forever, they were joined by James Nopper, freshly escaped from a mental institute. A real psychopath, so mad and demented, he was a perfect addition with his low waves of madness. Anxious to grow their power within this rotting universe, they decided to enlist another voice; Eric Forget was the perfect candidate. A young and twisted abnormal screaming entity, born to destroy the ears of the world with a single word. The ritual was almost complete. They only needed more rhythm to succeed in awakening the necrobutchers. From the echo of pain itself, Nick Rodgers was raised, a real technician of doom. With the twisted lineup ready, A Scar For the Wicked was poised to bring it’s sickening death metal to the unsuspecting world.

After the release of their violent demo in 2011 and their first EP “Scars” in 2012, they had reached the perfect level to unleash their first pure machiavellian hymn to the dead, bringing into this world, The Necrobutcher (2014).  Their next offering, “The Unholy” will be unearthed on June 29th, 2018.

LONG BIO:

Born in blood, screams and agony, Adam Semler was destined to a life of tortured creations. Son of a vile temptress, silenced brutally for her crime, he slowly learned that music was the only way he could express his rage to exist. To spread this hatred, he reached out to two dangerous brothers, equally brilliant, charismatic, and evil: Joe Lyko and Ryan Keyneres.

Since 2010, A Scar For The Wicked (ASFTW) has been playing fast, evil and energetic songs inspired by horror shows and films. Their favorite themes encompass zombies, demons and other evil creatures and for them, each song is executed as a short horror story accompanied by heavy music. Like most horror stories this is not for the faint of heart. There is a fair amount of gore, death and of course a very evil atmosphere which is reflected in the band name as well.

Guitarist Joe Lyko explains:

“A Scar For The Wicked was really a twist on  “people marking the houses of where witches live, a mark on them so people knew to stay away, a scar as we like to look at it”, I always liked the idea of thinking everytime we play we leave a mark on the crowd, something to remind them of us.”

After the release of their violent demo in 2011 and their first EP “Scars” in 2012, they had reached the perfect level to unleash their first pure machiavellian hymn to the dead, bringing into this world, The Necrobutcher (2014).  Their next offering, “The Unholy” will be unearthed June 29, 2018.

Fueled by a passion to bringing horrific and grotesque sounds to their fans, ASFTW have clawed their way through the Eastern Canadian metal scene originally following the guidelines of deathcore, going for a very heavy sound. As the other members began imprinting their influences on the music it saw a evolution into a less core based death metal, melodic but still remaining brutal and disgustingly evil. Every show is an energized experience with ASFTW, complete with face melting heaviness and a dark and evil atmosphere.
