Prepare For Slaughter: 30 Years of NECRONOMICON Brings New Album In 2019

+ First Montreal Show In 2 Years

For the last 30 years, Rob ‘The Witch’ and Necronomicon have been conspiring to bring essential death metal to Canada and the world, with none surviving the pure devilish onslaught that these pioneers embody. Playing over 1000 intense gigs since their conception in 1988 around the world including the longest continuous Canadian tour on record (27 dates) they have firmly planted their boots in metal history.

Necronomicon is one of the most well known names in the death metal scene with an exclusive death metal sound complemented with angelic voices, narration and of course destructive guitar riffs and unforgiving drumming that fuel the violent mosh pits that converge without fail at the feet of this formidable act.

The uncomfortable silence that has been echoing from the Necronomicon camp now comes to a halt as the Eternal Trio emerge to once again slaughter death metal fans in the form of the first home town ritual in 2 years in Montreal, QC and a yet to be titled new album in the works for 2019.

For those in the Montreal area, descend into the beastial pit of chaos with Necronomicon at Foufounes Electriques alongside Augury, Démence and Hidden Pride on Friday 16th of November 2018. Event Link

BIO:

Destroying crowds since the 80s, Necronomicon originally comes from the deep northern part of the Canadian province of Quebec, called the “Fjord of Saguenay”. The band later relocated in the city on Montreal, now well known for the quality of is metal scene, to ensure a more prosperous future for the band, something that would’ve been impossible in their remote Nordic home region.

Since the beginning, the band always blended ambiances with extreme metal, along with atmospheric passages using narration and angelic female voices, exotic instruments and various orchestrations. Although each 7 releases have their own theme, it is also part of the grand concept of the band itself.

Their hard work and renowned growth brought them to share the stage and tour with several well established bands such as Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Morbid Angel, to name a few, as well as invitations to well renowned festivals such as Inferno (Norway), Heavy MTL (Canada), Ragnarok (Germany), Barge to Hell and more. Stopping at nothing, the Eternal Trio led by the Dark One, Rob “The Witch”, is now working with the well-established record label Season of Mist.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 13, 2018

For fans of Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Megadeth, Kreator.

Italy’s Malamorte Invites You To “Hell For All”
New Album Out In 2019 Jan 25 (EU), Feb 8 (NA) via Rockshots Records

Malamorte; ferocious, evil metal hailing from Italy brings you a third full length offering, telling tales of the occult, mysticism and the antichrist, set against multi dimensional music echoing influences from heavy, power and black metal.

“Hell For All” was written as a cohesive album, each song being composed in a complementary fashion to the rest of the tracks on the album. Compared to the album in 2016, this new record brings more thrash and power elements as the band deviates from their black metal origins.

Keeping the listener in mind, Malamorte desires to formulate a trip, one that “alternates hard times to more reflective or lighter moments” and can be played on repeat which each new listen creating a new perspective. Quality and energy are the primary focuses for these Italians, who allow their fans to escape into an alternate reality and cite influences from a broad range of musical greats including Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Iron Maiden and Slayer.

“Hell For All” will be released on Rockshots Records on January 25, 2019 (Europe) and February 8, 2019 (North America). Album pre-order here.

Dizzy Mystics, a psychedelic progressive rock band from Winnipeg, Canada, will be dishing out their tunes across Ontario this coming December in support of their latest singles and planned 2019 debut album “Wanderlost”. The tour will kick off in Selkirk, MB on Nov 30th and see the band trek a week through central Ontario wrapping up the fun in Sudbury on December 8th.

The band comments:

“We are over the moon to make our first journey through the Canadian Shield, and “Enter Ontario”! She’s a big beautiful province and her music scene is a vast ocean, but we aim to make waves.”

Earlier this year the band served up their third single “Diamond Duller”, the most hard hitting and jarring of the songs off the band’s upcoming 2019 debut album “Wanderlost”. Still retaining their colourful medley, the single expands further into their depths of psychedelic melody, pocket grooves, crushing intensity, mind bending passages, and catchy vocals.

The band explains:

“It’s a heavy track with a theme around the classic case of the grass being greener and taking things for granted. With a metal base, there are pronounced elements of melodic hard rock and funk.  Full of cryptic imagery and metaphors, super jazzy bass lines and progressive guitar riffs this track is sure to be a favourite for fans of Mastodon, Led Zeppelin and The Mars Volta.”

DIZZY MYSTICS forthcoming debut full length “Wanderlost” could be loosely based on the concept of being lost in oneself; sonically traversing through a plethora of genres and elements including hard and progressive rock, metal and folk, jazz fusion and grunge. The album was self recorded; mixed by John Paul Peters (Private Ear Recording, Winnipeg); mastered by Ed Brooks (Resonant Mastering, Seattle) and the album artwork was crafted by Ben Duncan.

Dizzy Mystics Soup for the Rocker’s Soul;
2 cups Psychedelic
2 cups Progressive
1 cup Hearty 70’s Metal
3 tbsp. Jazz
3 tbsp. Funk
2 tbsp. Folk
1 tbsp. Soul
A pinch of Celtic Pepper is optional

(Measurements of each ingredient are subject to change for each batch made)

As the recipe implies, rock music is the spoon that stirs the soup, and no genre (or spice) is out of the question for Dizzy Mystics. Climbing out the stock pot in 2015, Dizzy Mystics are a psychedelic rock band based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. One can expect a dynamically diverse, tastefully complex, and energetic dose of adventurous hard rock with feet moving rhythmic swagger, and stargazing melodies.

– 30 –

“It is clear that Dizzy Mystics may be among the most unique of the vibrant Canadian rock scene to be delivering tracks that will leave fans of classic, progressive, and 90’s alternative rock excited for what is to come.” – Canadian Beats

“Mysticism aside, this band certainly got the “dizzy” part right! The Winnipeg rock quartet Dizzy Mystics offer up a staggering musical concoction that, considering its progressive and experimental flair, is surprisingly radio-ready. Think Rush and Primus drinking wine with Tool before dropping acid with Frank Zappa and checking out a jazz club with Steely Dan. Dizzying, right? Jokes aside, frontman Kyle Halldorson, guitarist Alexandre Joyal, drummer Jeffrey Laird and bassist Aaron Bacon have some serious chops and, with the right amount of work, gigging and outside help, this Canadian act has the potential to not only see the end of the tarmac, but to also take off!” – PureGrainAudio

“Diamond Duller moves and groves, in interesting rhythms, changing from one beat to another, shifting and clanging with energy. The vocals bring about high energy and ensure the listener is hooked from the get go.” – The Median Man

“The quartet has crafted a psychedelic and progressive sound upon many others including melodic hard rock and funk.  The band takes you through a heavy and psychedelic trip on their latest single.” – Technical Music Review

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 9, 2018

One Man Metal Ripper THANATOS Unleashes New Track “Prelude To A Heretic”

Focusing on creating an inspiring, yet unsettling experience for the listener, Thanatos, brings brutal and technical groove to your ears.  Created by Ian Waye, Thanatos is a one man project, coalesced as a method of metaphorical storytelling and a means to culminate the riffs, melodies and licks crafted through years of composition, some ideas dating back to 2012.

Unleashing his latest single ‘Prelude To The Heretic’, the track is just the tip of the iceberg as the third song off the planned self-titled EP set for release during this coming November 2018.

For fans of Necrophagist, Beyond Creation and Psycroptic, ‘Prelude To The Heretic’ was recorded, mixed and mastered by Ian Waye plus also features a guest guitar solo by Chris Feener (Burnt Hill, Qyn, ex-Threat Signal).

Waye expands on how he wants his listeners to react:

Marc Durkee – Remain In Stasis (2019)

For fans of Katatonia, Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Cloudkicker

Album Title:  Remain In Stasis
Release Date: January 18, 2019
Label: Self-Release

Publicist – Jon Asher – ashermedia(@)gmail.com

Facebook | Bandcamp | Soundcloud |  Youtube | Instagram

Spotify | iTunes

“Remain In Stasis is a deeply personal rock record that winds its way through feelings of depression, introspection and eventually, triumph. It should be high on the list of anyone who’s enjoyed doom metal’s rise into the indie spotlight. Fans of progressive acts in particular, like Anathema, Katatonia, Opeth and Tool, will find much to appreciate in Durkee’s vocal and guitar melodies. The shuddering beat of “A Way to Escape” brings to mind A Perfect Circle, as well as prog-master Steven Wilson.” – Exclaim!

“this album is exceptional and was a great listening experience. I think there was a really good balance between the upbeat and energetic electric songs as well as some more melancholy and mood-shifting acoustic numbers. Marc Durkee created a wonderful thing with ‘Remain In Stasis’, and while I can hear the influences he made it his own. I would definitely look forward to the release of this one.” – Overdrive Music Mag

“With a handful of EP’s and LP’s out since 2013, he is a one-man band with a vision. A dark and depressing sound that is accessible to Metal and Rock fans alike. “Remain In Stasis” is his first full-length album and all tracks are performed, written, produced, and mixed by Marc. There is some great guitar work here, from heavy, riffing in songs like the opening track “The Dark Dimension” and later in “A Great Disdain” to the acoustic passages in “Not Without Sin” and “A Way To Escape”. Overall it’s a fairly mellow album with the heaviness spread out evenly throughout. ” – Maritime Metal

“Durkee’s approach is multi-faceted and has many sounds blended into his music.  He would be great support for an Opeth, Steven Wilson or Katatonia tour….simply put he has broad horizons as an artist, and his music clearly reflects it.  Let’s all do the guy a favor and not only grab his upcoming album, but also get his great music out there.  2019 has many solid releases lined up and “Remain In Stasis” should be there the whole time.” – Technical Music Review

“While an excellent artist might touch the heart and mind of their audience, only the truly exceptional can reach out and touch a person’s soul. This has been achieved by Marc Durkee in the release of ‘Remain in Stasis.’” – Reverend Rock, host of Too Metal For Church on Hard Rock Hell Radio

“What a talented individual Marc Durkee is and Remain in Stasis is an album he can be very proud of. Filled with all manner of interesting soundscapes and complexities that showcase an impressive ear for song composition.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head Banging Life

“Remain In Stasis has a stunning melancholic vibe and it’s an album that will give you goosebumps. The music is absolutely crushing, with a perfect balance between heaviness and melody, and the vocals are brimming with colour and emotion – and when coupled together, it makes for a winning combination. The tracks are all well-constructed, with massive and memorable hooks, and subsequently it results in a piece you’ll just keep wanting to come back to.” Soundscape Magazine

“The overall tone of Remain In Stasis steeped in deep melancholy with occasional pitches of rage – as if the album struggles against its own ‘stasis’ till it explodes in fits. Marc’s music seems tailor-made to invoke catharsis in the listener and would be good company for someone experiencing frustration to know they are not alone.” – Canadian Beats

“open up your mind and step inside. This is a solo record that is built upon the foundational intricacies of a human personality. It feels, communicates, rationalizes…it empathizes. With “Remain in Stasis” MARK DURKEE has taken one of the world’s most complicated articles and simply turned it into art.” – Metal Temple

“A powerful, dark album, full of emotion and talent” – Boston Rock Radio

“Eastern Canada’s multi-instrumentalist Marc Durkee is a one-man show on his second album, Remain in Stasis. Writing, playing, and singing the whole thing, Durkee dug deep for some real emotional upheaval on this deeply personal album, giving us an enticing blend of Tesseract-like prog metal and more mellow, accessible, Anathema-influenced ballads…a highly enjoyable solo album in the most literal sense, and a worthy accomplishment for Durkee.” – Heavy Music HQ

“It is such a rush when a singer-songwriter-musician nails his colours to prog rock in this day and age! In fact, Durkee is proud to describe his music as “a blend of progressive, metal/rock, doom metal, post-hardcore, and post-rock.” A brave man! Definitely fans of epic heavy rock music will be keen to check out Marc Durkee.” – Power of Pop

““The Dark Dimension,” starts things off, and immediately listeners are treated to some interesting guitar work, and some frenetic vocal lines and melodies.” – The Median Man

““A Way to Escape” digs deep into Durkee’s struggle with depersonalization, the challenges of trying to find yourself and, ultimately, the role that plays in his creative process.” – The East Mag

When an artist uses his own name to present his music to the world, he is being truly fearless, with no identity to hide behind but his own.

This is as it should be, no great art was ever produced without great bravery, and Marc Durkee is an artist unafraid to dig deep into both his own personal suffering, and the world around him for inspiration.

Inspired by Katatonia, Tesseract, Anathema, Devin Townsend, Coheed & Cambria, Durkee describes his music as “progressive, metal/rock, Doom metal, post-hardcore, post-rock.”

Durkee’s new album, solo in the true sense of the word, is entitled ‘Remain In Stasis’, and is  loaded with deep meaning to this courageous and talented artist, as he explains.

“The first meaning is personal. I’ve been stuck in a state of depersonalisation for almost five years now. For me, it’s been a chronic symptom of dealing with years of depression and stress, and it’s unrelenting. When it’s at its worst, it removes mostly all motivation and enjoyment from my life. While that is unfortunate, it does serve as major source of inspiration for song-writing…The second meaning is more political and universal. I feel that humanity is at a unique point in our history, with technology and social media allowing us to communicate and express ourselves in ways that were previously unimaginable. And yet, nobody really DOES communicate. It seems as though it’s mostly used as a platform to bicker over political ideals and agendas and create discourse, or for anyone to use as their own personal performance venue. Everyone wants to be seen and heard, even those who really don’t deserve to be.”

Marc Durkee is one artist who really does deserve to be heard, and when ‘Remain In Stasis’ is released on January 18, 2019, all the world will hear him.
