The latest blistering death metal entity Of Hatred Spawn unleashed their self-titled debut album worldwide this past December on Boonsdale Records. The band’s studio and live line-up consist of JJ Tartaglia (Skull Fist) on drums, his brother Remy Tartaglia on guitars, Oscar Rangel (ex-Annihilator) on bass and Matt “Coldcuts” Collacott on vocals. The project is the first-ever collaborative offering by the Tartaglia brothers and holds great promise and expectations within the metal community around the world.

The band delivers an old-school death metal sound in the vein of old Morbid Angel, Decapitated, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Ruination-era Job For A Cowboy, while staying true to the modern trends of today’s extreme metal. Super low-tuned guitars, guttural vocals, blast beat drumming, odd-time signatures, and tempo shifts create the atmosphere for Of Hatred Spawn’s demonic sound. The lyrical themes tell stories of plagues, slavery, darkness and the balance of evil.

Teaming up with NoCleanSinging.com, the band is premiering drummer JJ Tartaglia’s new playthrough for the album’s track “Severed Limb Convulsion”.

Tartaglia comments:

“This song is probably the heaviest one on the album. Straight up death metal, with quite a few changes in odd-time signatures of 11/8, 7/8, 5/8, and 6/8 and a tempo shift as well. All of the elements give it quite a modern sound making it one of my fave tracks. Real fun to play as well.”

“…Must be said that the Spaniards know how to deal with majestic pieces emotionally charged, that have nothing to envy what they can offer the leaders of this music (like Swallow the Sun or Draconian)…” – MetalShip (FRA – 9,4/10)

“”Aamamata is an experience that oozes with desolation and gloom, yet still provides that slightly uplifting feeling at the end of the day. Bone-crushing riffs that reverberate with emotion join up with some more introspective moments (see “Goodbye, Hope”) to bring in the contrast that bands like Daylight Dies and Novembers Doom have done so well, yet the structuring of both gives Helevorn a little wiggle room to reach for their own sweet spot. ” – Dead Rhetoric

“over the ensuing best part of an hour Helevorn gives a bravura performance, pulling every stop out of the doom/death bag of tricks to present one of the most sonically and emotionally exhaustive albums I’ve encountered in quite some time…I’ve rarely heard such an album; an album where pure riffery can at once spark feelings of real desolation and upset, yet still manages to leave the listener feeling sadly uplifted.” – Sentinel Daily

“Without a doubt, this will be on my Top Ten when the year ends.” – Broken Tomb Magazine”

“this is a really good album that will be among my doom metal favorites of 2019… The down-to-earth themes along with the obvious passion and attention to detail makes Helevorn one of the best active bands in the genre today.” – DeathDoom.com

“Aamamata is an stunning bit of work (and certainly makes me want to check out their back-catalogue). Everything works so well and it’s a very confident and coherent piece – Helevorn have done well here.” – Soundscape Magazine

“a seductive and mature album” – Metal Integral”

“There are goosebumping moments” – Twilight Magazin

“Magnificent album, highly recommended for all lovers of the genre and with many hidden stories inside. Enjoy it!” – TNT Radio Rock

“A really good album worth to check during this cold and dark winter time.” – Voices From The Darkside

“Aamamata is a disc composed of a set of songs of extreme melancholy and pain with suffered melodies, constituting desolating environments, black and often distressing. Doom metal of high category that fans of names like My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost or Draconian should not miss.” – Via Nocturna

“Spanish doom metal legends Helevorn return, with a new opus and some seriously kick-ass music. “A Sail To Sanity,” is definitive doom, bringing some seriously charged riffs, and a powerful  range of melody, the perfect opener.” – The Median Man

“Totally surrendered to its deeper, melancholy, elegant and sincere doom metal, the Balearics give us a work of art from its very cover to the last note of ‘La Sibil·la’. An album that pays tribute to the Mediterranean and everything that unites us, drawing bridges before a darker world. “- Goatia Media

“Aamamata is a bit more epic, more intense and it keeps the personality of the previous albums.” – Permafrost.today

SHORT BIO

Melancholic doom outfit Helevorn started in 1999 in Palma, Spain, and has been exhibiting their elegant and gloomy music around the world ever since.

They began their journey with a demo in 2000, “Prelude” that featured female vocals and followed the gothic doom formula. They were quickly accoladed by the press and they dove into writing, gigging and recording. In 2005 the first full length “Fragments” was released.

In 2006 they were asked to contribute to the Katatonia tribute “December Songs” and released the second studio album in 2009 “Forthcoming Displeasures”. This release saw their musical style evolve into a more intense and heavy sound, more forceful and deep. “Compassion Forlorn” was released in 2014; and was accompanied by a music video for “Burden Me”.

With more and more fans craving the somber tones and dreary vocals, Helevorn brought their dramatic intensity to many European festivals including Dutch Doom Days, Gothoom Open Air, Wave Gotik Treffen, and Madrid is the Dark Fest.

The fourth studio album “Aamamata” will be released on January 23, 2019.

LONG BIO

Melancholic doom outfit Helevorn started in 1999 in Palma, Spain, and has been exhibiting their elegant and gloomy music around the world ever since. They began their journey with a demo in 2000, “Prelude” that featured female vocals and followed the gothic doom formula. They were quickly accoladed by the press and they dove into writing, gigging and recording. In 2005 the first full length “Fragments” was released.

Touring extensively allowed them to bring dark and forlorn music all over Europe, and they were asked to contribute to the 2006 Katatonia tribute “December Songs”. The second studio album 2009’s “Forthcoming Displeasures” saw their musical style evolve into a more intense and heavy sound, more forceful and deep, and was acknowledged as the second best doom metal album of the year by Metalstorm.net.

“Compassion Forlorn” was released in 2014; eight tracks full of human decay from deepest sentiments, and continued evolution in the compositions and the band’s sound. The accompaniment of the “Burden Me” video release firmly anchored Helevorn’s place in the global doom scene. With more and more fans craving the somber tones and dreary vocals, Helevorn brought their dramatic intensity to many European festivals including Dutch Doom Days, Gothoom Open Air, Wave Gotik Treffen, and Madrid is the Dark Fest.

The current lineup, consisting of Samuel Morales (guitars), Josep Brunet (vocals), Xavi Gil (drums), Enrique Sierra (keyboards), Sandro Vizcaino (guitars) and Guillem Morey (bass) are primed to release the fourth album “Aamamata” on January 23, 2019.

“We know that we are not discovering something new, but it’s how it sounds the 90’s goth-doom metal in the present times. It should be received like a piece to reborn the scene and to relate music and the decadence of Humankind through the drama of the refugees, that constantly are dying trying to escape from the hell that Western Countries put to them. We think that fans will love the new album.”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 11, 2019

Italy’s S.R.L. Posts New Lyric Video “Il Museo Delle Cere”

New Album Out “Hic Sunt Leones” February 8, 2019 via Rockshots Records

In 1992, Italy’s S.R.L. was born; their moniker is an acronym for “Società a Responsabilità Limitata (Limited Liability Company)”. The deep meaning of the band name is both how they see society has limited responsibility on a daily occurrence along with being a tribute to the great Italian rock bands of the 70’s such as P.F.M. – Premiata Forneria Marconi, BMS – Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, etc..

With lyrics in Italian and a music style that is a powerful blend of fast thrash death metal, S.R.L. are releasing their next album “Hic Sunt Leones” via Rockshots Records on February 8, 2019. This is the band’s 11th release since their 1995 debut EP “Divieto di Pensiero”. The new album was inspired by the Ancient Roman motto for unexplored and unconquered lands, which is what S.R.L. is doing with this next release.

“We’re exploring new boundaries of our unique style, melting heavy metal with the thrash and death metal energy. The album is such a trip towards the unknown, while each song has got a different mood, melody, and evolution.”

The band’s new lyric video for the album’s first single “Il Museo Delle Cere” can be heard at https://youtu.be/HiwW-_1fyyQ

“Hic Sunt Leones” is available for pre-order from Rockshots Records at http://bit.ly/hicsuntleones_PREORDER

This past November, American power metal warriors LORDS OF THE TRIDENT unleashed their 7th studio album “Shadows From The Past”, which they will be touring this January with A Sound of Thunder in support of (dates listed below). While promoting their latest album, LORDS OF THE TRIDENT also launched a Patreon campaign to give fans more exclusive content. One such perk is the band’s first 100% Patreon-funded acoustic album entitled “Pull The Plug” that features all-acoustic re-recorded LORDS OF THE TRIDENT fan-favorite songs from past albums along with a few loved covers by the band.

Vocalist Fang VonWrathenstein comments:

“Acoustic …metal? You wouldn’t think it would be a thing, but here we are! The first time we tried playing our songs on acoustic guitars, they instantly burst into flames. Some experimentation was needed before we were able to successfully record. We tried fastening plate metal to the backs of the guitars, and even went so far as to completely coat a guitar in liquid steel. It took a lot of broken and melted guitars, but we FINALLY found a method that worked. Enjoy one of the most SOOTHING metal albums you’ll ever hear…Perfect for your next heavy metal date night!”

Hailing from the ashes of Charlotte, USA’s darker side comes forth the blackened death trio, Oculum Dei. Mixing different elements and influences of black metal, the band is set to bring forth a horde of darkness and engage listeners into a realm of deep, chaotic experiences.

First forming as a studio project in 2016 by Tenebris (bass/drum and keys programming), Camalus (guitar) and Zebulv (vocals/guitar), the band has taken their influences of Emperor, Behemoth and Dark Funeral and push an eclectic unholy blasphemy as far as it will go in the Southern USA’s Bible Belt.

Not content to remain as a studio project, the trio has begun performing locally and have shared the stage with Carach Angren, Wolfheart, and Mors Principum Est. Clad in corpse paint with an elaborate and continuously evolving stage show, Oculum Dei has heavily invested into their extreme visionary madness.

A team effort behind all their songwriting, Oculum Dei has been working on their first album for almost three years and now the dark demonic war chants of their debut “Dreams of Desire and Torment” will be unleashed on February 22, 2019.

The band comments:

“The album as a whole is an eclectic mix of slow dark black metal jumping into extreme black riffs sometimes slowed down with a death metal riff and into acoustic guitars. There is no set template for this one, just a groove and feel that each of us has brought to the table.”

The first single off the debut “Blinded By Gods” is a tribute to old school black metal with riffs and slings lyrics towards Christianity being a fake while saying only God exists in us.
