NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 13, 2019

For fans of Marty Friedman, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Buckethead, Tony MacAlpine

Out Now! Guitarist Frankie C. (Vesperia) Unleashes His Shredding Debut EP “Cellular Damascus”

Frankie Caracci, known for his guitar work in Canadian symphonic death metal band Vesperia, has been simmering a side project entitled “Cellular Damascus” and is now ready to give listeners around the world a taste of what he’s been doing on March 13, 2019.

“Cellular Damascus” is an instrumental solo project that came to light after Caracci’s win on season one of “Shredders of Metal” presented by Banger TV. Technical, groovy and energetic, “Cellular Damascus” lets the listener focus on the guitar work that he takes great pride in orchestrating.

“I want fans to have fun listening to it. I wanted to create interesting melodic phrases but still have heavy riffs to headband along with, shred hard but not lose sight of the music and try to have a clear mix where things aren’t overly processed but all instruments/parts are still clear and audible.”

Working consciously on each track, the scene for the album is a suspenseful set with “So It Begins” and concludes majestically with “Fall Of The Hammer”. All four tracks on this debut flow together and show off excellent musicianship. Excited to be focusing on more solo work in the future, Caracci has confirmed another release in the future.

“Cellular Damascus” is now out as of March 13, 2019, and available for stream and download on Bandcamp, Spotify, Youtube, iTunes.

Track Listing:
1. So It Begins (1:06)
2. Fall Of The Hammer (2:55)
3. Cellular Damascus (3:14)
4. Life By Fire (3:19)
EP Length: 10:36

Bio:

Cellular Damascus is the instrumental solo project from Vesperia’s Frankie Caracci. Looking to try something new and forge his wide array of influences together to make something that is uniquely his own.

The first release, the self-titled EP (2019), introduces fans to the melodic and technical headbanging music on which Caracci solely wrote, performed and produced. Influenced but guitar mavericks such as Jeff Loomis, Joe Satriani, Jason Becker, and Michael Romeo and genres such as modern and classic heavy metal thrash, prog and death metal there is an assortment of features in each track that keep the listener on their toes and attentive to the music.

Bio:

EXTREMA’s original line-up was established between 1985 and 1986 in Milan, Italy. In a very short time, the band led by guitars player Tommy Massara achieved a huge success. Tommy is the only remaining member of the original line-up, and over the years he also played the role of artistic and executive producer.

Hundreds of concerts made the band more and more close-knit and open towards a constant growth path, capable from the beginning of welcoming influences external to heavy metal, a consistent choice within an evolutionary framework which saw EXTREMA start from the rebellious attitude of MOTÖRHEAD to later incorporate the style of Californian thrash metal, a scene with which the band shared the utmost care for the technical side of music and a devastating presence on stage.

The band’s reputation as musicians and performers kept growing in a perpetual live context, with extensive tours and the participation to prestigious festivals with the likes of METALLICA, SLAYER, MOTÖRHEAD, and KORN, a.o.

Extraneous from the beginning to political and ideological implications of any kind, EXTREMA’s lyrics have always strived to alternate challenging and contemporary themes with lighter subjects, true to rock’n’roll form.

In May 2017 the band welcomed the new frontman Tiziano Spigno. Thanks to his entry, EXTREMA can finally release all the creativity repressed in recent years: a violent, direct and engaging approach which is – at the same time – also varied, courageous and experimental, resulting in the new album “Headbanging Forever”.

EXTREMA is:
Tiziano “Titian” Spigno – Vocals
Tommy Massara – Guitars
Gabri Giovanna – Bass
Francesco “Frullo” Larosa – Drums

About:

Mad With Power – the Midwest’s only arcade and heavy metal festival – was a fest built out of spite. Angered by other fests making and breaking promises to him over and over again, fest founder Ty Christian did the only rational thing: make his own fest – and make it better – by filling venues to the brim with free-play arcade and pinball games!

Now in its third year, Mad With Power fest continues to highlight up-and-coming bands in the power metal, thrash metal, and traditional heavy metal sub-genres, and attracts more and more concertgoers with new exclusives every year. In just a few years, the fest has created an official drink (Bos Meadery’s “Mad With Power” mead, available on-tap), shocked fans with power metal opera battles, and crafted unique experiences like a playable “heavy metal-themed video game museum” with the help of local sponsors.

The fest has grown year-by-year, and continues to attract attendees from not only the midwest, but across North America and Canada as well!

Bio about founders:

Ty Christian is the vocalist for the band Lords of the Trident, and the founder of Mad With Power fest. Ty has been playing in, touring with, booking, and managing bands since 1999, and was a roadie and mixing engineer for bands such as Steppenwolf, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Molly Hatchet, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Ty is also the creative director of the Madison Area Music Association – a charity organization that raises funds to put instruments and music education into local schools – and prides himself on being a leader of the DIY musician movement.

Canada’s GONE COSMIC have released their first single, “Deadlock” off their upcoming debut album “Sideways In Time”. “Deadlock” is premiered on TheObelisk and will certainly satisfy cravings for powerful, soulful and progressive psychedelic rock.

Starting out with a single riff that flourishes into a multitude of insane riffs, GONE COSMIC combines thick n’ dirty bass lines, essential groove and energetic lyrics and melodies to create an intricate soundtrack to guide you on a galactic journey. “Deadlock” is the spaceship that allows the listener to tune out of the everyday immediate satisfaction and social media obsessed society and lose themselves in the ‘cosmic nod’ of the heavy psychedelic experience of the music.

The band comments:

“‘Sideways in Time’ was created for the every-day music lover and listener to lay on the floor and absorb the sounds and journey, to the well-seasoned musician to break it down and get technical. Our hope is that people enjoy what they hear and come out and catch a show. It’s a whirlwind for sure, these songs aren’t written with an ABC formulaic map.”

Space out with “Deadlock” over on TheObelisk at http://theobelisk.net/obelisk/2019/03/12/gone-cosmic-sideways-in-time-review-premiere/

“Sideways In Time” will be released April 12, 2019, through Kozmik Artifactz and available for pre-order on Bandcamp here.

Bio:

Championed by a soaring songstress Abbie Thurgood (The Torchettes), whose boldly evocative tones recall Skunk Anansie chanteuse Skin and Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard, and accompanied by an agile and aggressive psych-rock outfit, composed of guitarist Devin “Darty” Purdy (Chron Goblin), bass player Brett Whittingham (Chron Goblin), percussionist Marcello Castronuovo (Witchstone), Gone Cosmic has carved out an expansive domain that stretches from sweltering Southern sludge pits to breath-stealing sonic spacewalks.

A blood (orange)-scented breeze that bows the trees, Gone Cosmic chases the infinite haze from the skies and puts it right back in your eyes. Groove-mining breakdowns become the stuff of legend as the four pieces’ floor-thudding tail kick and hellfire halo holler originates a whole that is far more potent than the sum of its individual elements. Meet your new astromancers, the phase-shifting and hard- rocking force that channels the empyreal sounds of heaven on Earth.

Bio was written by Christine Leonard (Beatroute AB, Canada)

“And then there’s Gone Cosmic with their Sideways In Time album, released through Kozmik Artifactz. Set for an early April release this is some grade A, female-fronted psych rock, it whirls and it winds and it wails like a hard rocking banshee on the prowl! Simply stunning!” – Stoner Hive

“It feels like an evolution of the genre” – Chris Beck – Doom Tomb

“Fresh off of announcing their signing to the Kozmik Artifactz label before the April release of their debut Sideways in Time (so bleeding bloody good, by the way), this Calgary supergroup comprised of members of Chron Goblin, Witchstone and Joplin-esque lung pummeler Abbie Thurgood, formerly of The Torchettes, are a heavy, groovy, psych-storm, headtrip. You’re welcome.” – Mike Bell – YYScene

“ It works in a spectacularly gnarly and boombastic, rifftastic, fantastic Joplin blues-rock way.” Mike Bell – YYScene

“Awakening the ears and seducing souls with an addictive pairing of folk-blues and psych-rock, Calgary’s Gone Cosmic is a band that thrives on the mix of complementary and contrasting traits that each member brings to the party. “  – Christine Leonard  – Beatroute

“The electromagnetic energy generated when Thurgood’s soaring vocals and passionate lyrical narratives are added to the compelling riffs and hypnotic pulses of the band’s instrumentation is a stunning and stimulating force to behold. “  – Christine Leonard  – Beatroute

MetalInjection Premiere Violin Progressive Metal CYDEMIND’s VIVALDI Cover In Stunning Music Video “Winter”

After releasing their debut album “Erosion” in 2017 and writing the videogame soundtrack of NavyBlue and the Spectrum Killers in 2018, CYDEMIND is back with a new single and music video called “Winter”. The song is an arrangement of one of Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Season violin concertos.

Watch “Winter” via MetalInjection.net at the following link: http://www.metalinjection.net/video/cydeminds-violin-metal-shred-was-made-for-winter-in-this-beautiful-video

As the Montreal-based quintet is led by classical violinist Olivier Allard, it was natural for the band to showcase its classical sound in this music video.

“It’s always been in CYDEMIND’s side-projects to make metal covers of classical music pieces, says Olivier. What better way to start than with one of my favorite violin concertos by Vivaldi!”

Co-directors Vincent Allard and Juliette Guerin hopped in the project without hesitation:

“Vivaldi’s Winter violin concerto is already such a cinematic piece with lots of contrast. It was a great challenge to find landscapes that could match both our view of Quebec’s winter while maintaining CYDEMIND’s highly energetic approach to the piece.”

The video was shot in various locations in Quebec, Canada. Scheduled to be filmed in March 2018, the project was postponed to February 2019 due to bad weather.

“As much as we had no luck last year, karma was on our side this year, says guitarist Kevin Paquet. The weather was fabulous, I think it definitely highlights the splendor of our Canadian winters.”

“Winter” was recorded at The Grid studio in collaboration with producer Christian Donaldson (The Agonist, Cryptopsy, Beyond Creation). The artwork was created by CYDEMIND’s own drummer Alexandre Dagenais.

“Winter” is available for stream and download on Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, and all other major platforms, where you can also find CYDEMIND’s debut album Erosion (2017).

About:
In a world where so much music is bland and generic, CYDEMIND is a breath of fresh air! Mixing progressive rock, jazz, classical, and progressive metal, Montreal-based CYDEMIND is a special and unique band, one we’ll be hearing a lot more from in the future. Influenced by such bands as Dream Theater. Symphony X. Haken, Neal Morse Band, and jazzmen like Avishai Cohen and Tigran Hamasyan, violinist Olivier Allard describes their sound as “violin meets instrumental prog metal!”.

Prolific artists, CYDEMIND released its first EP ‘Through Mists and Ages’ back in 2014 and soon after its single ‘What Remains’. After a few years of writing and refining their sound, the quintet (violin, bass, piano, guitar, drums) came back with their first full-length album. Entitled ‘Erosion’, its six tracks are centered around the theme of nature and its persistence through time. Epic is the word here, with one track clocking in at an impressive 27 minutes. ‘Erosion’ was released independently on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and all major online retailers.

CYDEMIND then branched off a bit from the usual metal band musical path to produce the music for the indie video game ‘Navyblue and the Spectrum Killers’. The game released in September 2018 and is available on Steam. In addition to writing the whole soundtrack for the game, CYDEMIND also released two singles ‘Navyblue’ and ‘Lights of Iberia’ as bonus content for the game.

To further expand their musical soundscape and reach new audiences, the versatile band released its first music video ‘Winter’ in March 2019. The single is an arrangement of Vivaldi’s ‘Winter violin concerto’ from the Four Seasons. Shot in various locations in Quebec, Canada, the video highlights both the majestic Canadian winter and the highly energetic performance of the band.

In addition to their recording experiences, the band has performed many times in the Montreal area since 2011 in venues like Foufounes Électriques, Katacombes, Theatre Plaza and more. They recently created the first edition of Proggy Nights in Canada, a small tour that reunited 3 Canadian prog bands in Québec City, Montreal and Toronto.

Aside from their performance expertise, Olivier (violin) and Camille (piano) have also been teaching their instrument for many years. Olivier is a doctorate student in violin performance at University of Montreal, while Camille graduated from the classical piano program at CEGEP St-Laurent in Montreal.

“presented what will easily be among the top prog metal albums of the year…” – Metal Underground

“An epic album in every sense of the word” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Cydemind have an excellent album on their hands with “Erosion.”” – Progressive Music Planet

“Everything a person could want in his or her progressive metal is contained within the album’s six tracks. Heavy, complex riffs? Check. Knotty, constantly-shifting time signatures? Check. Shreddy solos? Double check. Winding, non-linear song structures? Epic track lengths? Uplifting melodies? Check, check, and check. And then there’s that violin. It’s pretty clear from the first few notes that Olivier Allard has classical training, because he attacks his instrument like Yngwie Malmsteen with a bow.” – Indy Metal Vault
